I have "RootTattoo1Click_Recovery_2010-03-18_Mvx" installed and running flawlessly. But now I need to send it back to service center for some HW issue and so I need to COMPLETELY remove custom recovery image and revert back to stock bootloader. How do I do it? I have the factory rom for my regoin with me "RUU_Click_HTC_Asia_India_1.67.720.8_release_signed_NoDriver.exe" which I got from "shipped-roms", should I simply run it?

Simply install the stock rom and check if the custom recovery and bootloader have been set to default afterwards. Should solve your problem.

Hi.
I also had to give my tattoo away for display repair. They sent it to HTC in Hong Kong, and they returned it repaired (under warranty).
My tattoo was rooted with 1-click from Mvx, so I guess they don't even check it or they don't care.
Best regards
They usually re flash first thing anyway. They did mine when it had HW repair. They have done the same for previous HTC devices I had to.

So apparently the official 2.2 Froyo is rolling out. I haven't checked yet but I will when I get home. I have some newb questions.
I got my phone and haven't touched a thing to it. Just added lots of apps. No root. No lag fix. Nothing.
My question is, if I upgrade this officially via Kies:
1) Do I lose my contacts / stuff ?
2) Do I lose my apps ?
I heard people saying that once you upgrade to do a hard reset of the phone -- why ? What happens if you don't ?
With this in mind, how and what is the best way to back up all my apps ? I haven't rooted but i DO have Titanium Back up. Would Z4root work for i9000m ? can anyone confirm ?

Why is this stupid update corrupting internal SD's left and right? Bell better get me a new phone! Cause this one is bricked(I think) it goes up til "S" logo and then nothing but blank screen. If I touch the button, they light up but still nothin on the screen.
I should have gotten a different phone to begin with, but too bad Canada doesn't have all the good phones US has like D2 DX HTC Evo etc. Going up to Bell tomorrow for an exchange.

A lot of people have been complaining that their SD cards have been screwed. Luckily mine went through without any problems and hasn't given me any trouble so far.
Froyo is insane tho, before the phone used to lag a bit, now the moment i touch it it opens. No need for lag fix in my opinion, everything works blazing fast as is.
One thing to watch out for is the WIFI. It was working normally at the beginning but after 3 hours it just disconnected for no apparent reason and has trouble connecting back.
Good luck

Yep, but for optimised result, this is a must do!
You can probably have it work without doing a factory reset, but you can encounter weird behavior, bugs and stuff!
Anyway, you might end up doing it anyway to solve the firts boot issue
I'm one of the users who upgraded to Bell Froyo (from stock FW with root and lagfix - undid the lagfix before upgrading) and then encountered the broken internal SD card issue. I ran Volume UP/Power/Home(middle button) to reformat everything and it is up again. Inside the OS, I ran the internal factory reset again. So far so good. *crossing fingers*
I updated mine last night. However I've had major problems since. Initially it would just freeze up randomly and require removing the battery to get it back up and running.
Today I decide to reset it to defaults which seemed to go fine, although shortly after getting it all setup again, some Samsung app of sorts came up with an error and had to be forcefully closed. Then I was left with a black screen and only the notification bar.
Powered off the phone and went to turn it back on, and now it just loops through the Samsung GT i9000 screen (white writing). Not even the colourful S logo comes up.
I'm able to get it into Download Mode but not Recovery Mode. I'll have to do some reading about this Odin stuff tonight. Hopefully I can revive it, otherwise I guess I'll had to send it in for repairs. No idea if Virgin Mobile repairs will go through Bell or if I take it to them directly.
This is my first Android phone and I've only had it for just over a week. I thought I was making a good decision, but now I see it has quite a defect with the internal SD card failing.
Slow after upgrade
I upgrade my phone last night ( as per bell and Samsung) It is now slower than before. Quadrant Standard has it under 900.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi,
Last night my Galaxy S was low on battery, and I kept trying to turn it on for it to die right away (it was working as expected I guess)
This morning after I charged my phone it wouldn't turn on at all! It loads to the logo screen, makes that jingle sound and then holds and doesn't turn on.
I can get to recovery and download mode.
I put OCLF on like 2 months ago, but haven't modded/flashed ANYTHING since. It is very bizarre how it just died.
I'm wondering what my options are now. Obviously I would rather not loose all my personal files. Since I can get into download mode, can I just flash a new firmware? I'd like FroYo anyway, but I haven't got a clue what to do.
Great start to the year – !
Cheers,
Mitch
EDIT: I just decided to try the "Clear User Cache" option and then reboot to no avail. Now I can't get back into recovery mode!?!? Download mode still works. Huhh?? Is this expected? Have I lose Recovery Mode entirely now? Crap.
seeeems like an odin flash via the download mode is the only way. There are a few tutorials on this site and even tut vids on youtube so you should be fine if you just follow everything they do (as long as it works for them of course)
How do I know what version to flash? I have read a few tutorials and they all have started with "Dial x and check you have y" etc. Obviously I can't do any of that.
What is the *safest* firmware I can flash?
My phone currently has some optus variety.
Please forgive the noodish question.
Mitch
Where are you located? And who is your provider?
Hi,
I'm in Sydney Australia and my provider is Optus.
Thanks
Hi,
I still can't get my phone working and am not clear how to proceed.
What would be the best firmware to flash to my Optus Galaxy S that bricked out of the blue? Should I just send it back to Samsung?
Thank You

Hey mate go to samfirmware and get I9000DTJG4 thats the stock optus rom once you get phone up and running then upgrade to 2.2.1.
Sounds like you'll need to do a flash of a stock rom..
By the way, the old oclf had some issues that might lead to system corruption (unfortunately I'm not very sure exactly what it does, or whether it could lead to this problem). I'd suggest getting one of the newer lag fixes available here when you do get your phone running again

tragusman has got it right. Depending on what the issue is, you'll either recover nicely or your phone is toast. Flash the above stock firmware and give it a shot. Note that you'll likely loose your data and settings.
If you're new to flashing firmwares, check the great reference guide on where to find Odin and how to use it (this is the app you'll use to flash the above firmware).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
After flashing, try getting into recovery mode. If you can look for an error message under the standard menu. Can't get to d/l mode? You're probably in trouble. Get into recovery and see an error msg? Post the error here or google it for a solution. No error msg? You're probably ok - restart the phone.
Good luck.
Thanks guys.
I'm about to try it now, but before I start potentially breaking my phone even more, I was just thinking: Could I just send it back to Samsung? Would they fix it, or identify right away I have changed something and void my warranty.

If it's broke, you can't break it any more I've sent phones back in for support after flashing back stock firmware (flashing it after it "died").
Okay, so i got a problem a big one.
Today i came home from my night shift, turn on my pc and the download for stock ics rom was done.
My phone was running miui and i thought i'll flash stock rom because of battery drain on miui.
So i put my Note in download mode, connect it to PC Odin, select PDA file and press flash.
Everything went well until the phone didn't want to power on. (that's because i had less than 15% when i flashed). But that was not the first time i did that, Uselessly i just leave my phone turned off so that battery can get a bit of juice. But today i was a bit to sleepy and i went to recovery mode and pressed wipe data. Before the wipe was done i remember brickbug .
Then i quickly turned the phone off and put it download mode tried to flash the same rom with odin 2times but no luck. On odin it goes fine but gets stuck at 1/4 or so.
So the third time i unplugged the cable and now my phone is saying: Frimware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select download mode in Kies & try again.
But i still can put my phone in to the download mode and odin does recognize it.
So can someone help me?
Is my phone totally bricked (dead main-borad), or semi-bricked (flash drive gone).
And if i take my phone to the official repair service i don't have any counter and it say's that is a original Samsung firmware instaled. Will they now if i go there and play stupid, like what is recovery mode? and tell them that that hapend when i tried to install official update over kies?
I will press THANKS button for any help.
Thank you in advance.
If it constantly stuck at factoryfs or data.img then likely you became victim of super brick bug (as positive hystory is you have wiped) in that case better go to service centre.
Ok.
Ok. Thank you for your response.
Will the service repair my phone under the warranty as the bug is known thing?
If you have a 0 flash counter and the phone cannot boot into system they probably will accept to repair it under warranty, I presume. They will not listen to your arguments about brick bug at all. The principal is they will accept if you have no trace of rooted phone or increased flash counter.
btw, if they do not accept warranty, there is still someway to revive your phone, although will loose some memory space. cheers.
Thanks!
Yes I've read about that. +/- 5gb of internal storage..
Now, that's a tough decision, if i go and take my phone to the service i can get a full repair or i can get no warranty. I mean i only have phone for about 1month now. So i have 23 months of warranty left.
If i go and sacrifice 5gb of storage, and in future something goes wrong, will they at the service know that or am i safe?
And what about if i do that and then take it to the service like, where are 5gb? isn't that a 16gb phone? If you know what do i mean.
I am fairly certain that the last argument of "where has 5gb gone" will not work. Just need to make sure you comply with the conditions for warranty to have it repaired under warranty.
If you revive it using repartition, in most case 3gb will be gone. In some case only 1gb loss but some other case it is even >5gb depend on how much damage has been done to your internal memory. Re-partition is reversible, though. Still, it looks like your phone still meet conditions for warranty if I read correctly. cheers.
You have warranty, claim it.

However i decided to take it to the service because i still have warranty.
But I'm concerned, i have a few questions for you guys!
1. Will they on the service know that the phone dose not have installed original rom from them (Open Europe rom) insted of that i did instaled rom from other mobile operator (I wanted to sell the phone). ??
2. If there is no flash counter, and triangle, they can not know that the phone was ever rooted, correct?
Thank you for your help! I will press the tnx button every time.

AFAIK it doesn't matter which region is on the phone, so long as it's not rooted warranty still valid.

Hello!
During flashing leaked kernel my phone was on soft brick, I wiped cache partition and data in CWM. This was the end of my beloved Note, it is 100% dead and none of the possible fixes posted works so far.
I have heard there is a possible fix by re partitioning and connection the phone in Linux environment, this way the computer reads the phone and can be fixed by repartitioning and could get into download mode. Please let me know if anybody confirms this.
Alternatively, what is the next step. My phone is still under warranty but I am scared if Samsung would find out the history of rooting or as my Phone is 100% dead they would not be able to find out, confused.......
If the motherboard needs to be replaced, how much would it cost, where should I take and most important if my phone recovers can I still play around with custom ROMs?
Look forward to suggestions bring my phone live as I purchased it on loan and it brings immense pain to pay emi for a dead phone.
Regards,
AK
Even it bricked by emmc bug, there shud be download mode still available
-First try to get other charged battery (or charge yours) and try to put in download mode, and look to Lt upper corner what is your flash score. If it is zero, simply reclain warranty.
-Otherwise try this

Your phone is under warranty yet you are asking for costs? Those "recovery" method will give you a "crippled" device in terms of mem capacity.
So go and claim warranty. They wont know anything since your phone is totally dead anyway.

Hey, I just cam back from SS service. they said it could be a motherboard issue and they are replacing the motherboard.
Does that mean they would install the Stock Rom from fresh, I am sure yes.
Waiting for my recovered phone and educating myself to safely play around with custom ROMs.
One last question, which is the best stable custom ROM available for Galaxy Note, in terms of UI and better battery life?
Many Thanks.

Congrats on the replacement;
Custom ROM's are kind of personal preference, Best bet is to do your research now while you wait and you can decide for yourself which features you like / want / need in a ROM..
Suggestions to check would be ParanoidAndroid / CleaNote from my point of view, I've tried both but still run Stock ICS with custom Kernel.. Suits my needs...

what is the current rom on your phone? have you tried going to recovery and wiping dalvik cache? still same thing? If it is, worst case you can try (since both Recovery and Download works still) is to wipe data in recovery and restart your phone again(Don't try doing this if your using an infected kernel and/or in ICS Rom)
Going back,
You have a soft bricked phone.. Why would you exchange it for warranty? you can easily fix your issue without returning it to Samsung.

Don't worry, if it is with samsung alrd. They'll sure give you replacement of the motherboard if they can't do anything to your existing one. This is considered as the "manufacturing fault", and therefore, they must be able to replace it.
1st few batches, N7000 came out under gingerbread 2.3.6 technology, and it worked very well without the eMMC brick bug. It is happened only when they upgrade to ICS, with their own stock kernel, which triggered the brick bug.
So long as they are delaying the fix for their own stock kernel with the eMMC brick bug removed, I think samsung is still liable to give replacement to user, no matter what you did to your device. As long as it is eMMC brick bug, and you have your warranty.
Why ?
very simple... Even most of the samsung sales person on their respective outlets, they know a lil bit or perhaps don't know at all about this bug. Unless the sales person is those who likes to play with handphone like most of us here.
And if they do know... they won't tell you as well about this bug. Otherwise, will you buy it ? :fingers-crossed:
So as a consumer, we have the right to be replaced if the bug has been triggered due to factory reset / wipe of data, since no one told us about this. **peace**.
Really do hope you get your replacement once they call you to take your phone.
Good Luck !

Hey guys,
I just want to inform you that my Note is at service for 3-4 days... I am contacting them every day and they say it's not done yet.. So I hope it means that they're working on it... I will write if something new happens..
My Regards, Nedzad
Hey
I contaced service and they told they couldn't do anything yet.. Repairman told me that they will get a new JTAG repair box in 20 days and then they will fix it for free.. I think it is a good news
