how to remove recovery rom and revert to stock bootloader? [solved] - Click Android Development

I have "RootTattoo1Click_Recovery_2010-03-18_Mvx" installed and running flawlessly. But now I need to send it back to service center for some HW issue and so I need to COMPLETELY remove custom recovery image and revert back to stock bootloader. How do I do it? I have the factory rom for my regoin with me "RUU_Click_HTC_Asia_India_1.67.720.8_release_signed_NoDriver.exe" which I got from "shipped-roms", should I simply run it?
PS: Sorry if it has been repeated, I tried searching and got a few results too, but I just wanted to make sure I dont have a brick

Simply install the stock rom and check if the custom recovery and bootloader have been set to default afterwards. Should solve your problem.

Hi.
I also had to give my tattoo away for display repair. They sent it to HTC in Hong Kong, and they returned it repaired (under warranty).
My tattoo was rooted with 1-click from Mvx, so I guess they don't even check it or they don't care.
Best regards

They usually re flash first thing anyway. They did mine when it had HW repair. They have done the same for previous HTC devices I had to.

Although I'm soon trading my beloved tattoo for X8, i know not a powerhouse, but I like the looks and presence of GPU is gonna be a big deal for me! But nothing can match customizations of HTC sets. Also, tattoo has an awesome community and awesome devs. CHEERS

My screen is broken, my phone is unlocked with a ROM.. can I re-lock it?

I have insurance, but I dont want them to diagnose it and figure out its hacked. Please give me any info you can! Thanks guys!
you should be able to, are you able to sync the phone w/your comp via activesync? ifso, just flash back to the shipped ROM (relock if necessary, and swap 'er out!)

how can u flash back to the stock rom? i have the ntelos version and i have flashed it with 2 different roms. how can i get my stock ntelos rom back?
you will have to download the stock/shipped rom, maybe from your carrier's website?
i'm not familiar w/ntelos so i'm not sure where to find the stock rom.
*after a few mins of searching through the ntelos site i found a link to diamond "software download" on the lower left - http://nteloswireless.com/phones/htc/htcdiamond.php
which will take you to the HTC site where ROM updates appear to be available:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownloadList.aspx?p_id=133&act=sd&cat=2
and a link to the most recent ROM DL, you'll have to enter your serial # to access the ROM - http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=133&cat=2&dl_id=483
i entered my serial number and it said the serial # was invalid
It seems to have worked.. I called Asurion, and they sent my phone.. just got it!! Thanks guys.. now time to unlock get it back to where i had it!
How do you lock the phone back though after you've flashed back to stock rom. My screen no longer recognizes the touch. And I will definitely have to take it in for repairs asap. Is there a cab out there?
Try this baby out:
http://www.mymobiler.com/
I broke a screen on mine before and was able to do whatever with it...then again if you are getting it replaced by insurance... you could technically say it was lost / stolen and you wouldn't have to bother with re-locking etc.

Nexus One still locked with camera not working

Hi..a friend of me has a new Nexus One (with locked bootloader) and has some issues with camera.
When he enter camera app it is black and it doesn't work.Same with applications that use camera (like Goggles).
He tried to initialize sd card and phone memory but issue is still not solved.
How can he flash his N1 with original firmware?Does he need to boot phone keeping pressed volume button? And how can N1 recognize and flash original rom?
Do you think it is an hardware issue? It would be a problem cause we live in Italy!
Thanks..

No, he needs to do none of that.
If it's still locked and appears to be broken don't try and fix it yourself, just get a warranty replacement...

I understand your unwillingness to send it across the world but really, do you think some camera software got corrupted on a read-only phone? If so, it's still unlikely that you will be able to fix it.
To put new firmware on the phone you will need to root it. If you root it you will not have a warranty and you still might not be able to fix it.
Latest, full, leaked, signed rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648856
It's a risk though...
I'm sure I can flash with original rom a N1 not rooted.
Exist default recovery mode and I think it is to flash N1 with stoke rom.

[SOLVED] Return to stock (unroot) without USB or without a computer (non-RUU method)?

Hey guys, please forgive me if I misuse my terminology here but I am still a padawan learner.
My wife's hero is rooted and running a cyanogen rom. All was well for months but now her usb plug is broken and NOT charging. I have not yet verified that the usb won't talk to the pc but I assume it's the case because I can't get the thing to charge. Of course i have tried 5 or 6 diff chargers, tried wiggling, etc. but i am convinced that there is a broken prong in the phones plug. The phone is under warranty for 2 more days but I understand that I need to flash it back to stock before trying warranty stuff.
I have searched and the answers I have found are to simply run the latest RUU from the htc website. I found it, no problem, but it is an .exe file and would require the usb to work, right? The phone is dead right now or i would test the usb>pc connection and I have arranged to briefly borrow a friend's battery later tonight. If i can't get the connection to work is there any other way to flash this thing back to stock? If I just download a stock rom and flash that then i will still be rooted right? Do they check that? and lastly what about running an OTA update? Any advice/ideas are greatly appreciated.
Come to think of it, I might have the original naandroid backup that i did of the phone back in the day. If i restore this, would it go back to stock?
Here's what you can do:
Go HERE and download the S-OFF bootloader.
Flash it
Download THIS - its the zip that gets uploaded/flashed when you run the RUU.
And..as per instructions on that page:
Simply rename this to HERCIMG.zip and place on the root of your SDCard.
Power your phone completely off.
Press and Hold VOL DOWN and POWER until your phone boots into HBoot mode.
Wait for it to verify the zip, then click <ACTION> (Trackball) to update, or <SEND> (Green Call) to cancel.
After it flashes you'll have a stock phone, with the stock bootloader
Its the same setup I have on my phone..Just in case I need to un-root on the fly Except I have two zips. One with the stock bootloader and one without so I can keep it unlocked.
Gotta love XDA, thanks so much. I may have found it if I had thought about searching for "stock sprint zip format". Hopefully the next guy will find this. I have been helped by your advice many times throughout the forums in my searches.

You should add "or computer" to the title as well For those that may search 'unrooting without a computer'
And you're welcome that's why I'm here
Not working (yet)
Hi, another noob here: SAKKA.
I also need to revert to stock. I already switched the phone number (just upgraded and giving Hero to daughter). So have to push everything from Mac via USB. Unable to d/l md5sum: a77a2dee8e903e8f1a18b28b5c5e0b40 b/c it won't connect (too old?) Have HERC in root, did steps 1-4. But no go. Is there someway I can chat and get some help? Or do you know where i can chat now that AOSP is no longer running an online chat room (as far as I know)?
do u have any idea how old this thread is
Oh.
D'oh. Thanks.
That being said. Know how I can find someone to talk me through this?

There is this help page :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13479613
I always unroot with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8551240
Then I root with the "one click method"

Both never fail me....
Good luck

i tried this! it was on the updating part and when it was almost done, the htc screen appear and it started all over with s-off. so it said fail.
Just curious, if phone is already activated to her # then why go back to horrible stock.
If u want a stock ROM flash liquid sense or nfx.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=643
From either of those two ROMs u can do all that stock can.. like activation, PRL updates, etc.....
So unless its going for service under warranty there is no need to unroot to stock.
Good luck

[Q] Stuck on logo screen suddenly. Ideas?

Hi,
Last night my Galaxy S was low on battery, and I kept trying to turn it on for it to die right away (it was working as expected I guess)
This morning after I charged my phone it wouldn't turn on at all! It loads to the logo screen, makes that jingle sound and then holds and doesn't turn on.
I can get to recovery and download mode.
I put OCLF on like 2 months ago, but haven't modded/flashed ANYTHING since. It is very bizarre how it just died.
I'm wondering what my options are now. Obviously I would rather not loose all my personal files. Since I can get into download mode, can I just flash a new firmware? I'd like FroYo anyway, but I haven't got a clue what to do.
Great start to the year – !
Cheers,
Mitch
EDIT: I just decided to try the "Clear User Cache" option and then reboot to no avail. Now I can't get back into recovery mode!?!? Download mode still works. Huhh?? Is this expected? Have I lose Recovery Mode entirely now? Crap.
seeeems like an odin flash via the download mode is the only way. There are a few tutorials on this site and even tut vids on youtube so you should be fine if you just follow everything they do (as long as it works for them of course)
How do I know what version to flash? I have read a few tutorials and they all have started with "Dial x and check you have y" etc. Obviously I can't do any of that.
What is the *safest* firmware I can flash?
My phone currently has some optus variety.
Please forgive the noodish question.
Mitch
Where are you located? And who is your provider?
Hi,
I'm in Sydney Australia and my provider is Optus.
Thanks
Hi,
I still can't get my phone working and am not clear how to proceed.
What would be the best firmware to flash to my Optus Galaxy S that bricked out of the blue? Should I just send it back to Samsung?
Thank You

Hey mate go to samfirmware and get I9000DTJG4 thats the stock optus rom once you get phone up and running then upgrade to 2.2.1.
Sounds like you'll need to do a flash of a stock rom..
By the way, the old oclf had some issues that might lead to system corruption (unfortunately I'm not very sure exactly what it does, or whether it could lead to this problem). I'd suggest getting one of the newer lag fixes available here when you do get your phone running again

tragusman has got it right. Depending on what the issue is, you'll either recover nicely or your phone is toast. Flash the above stock firmware and give it a shot. Note that you'll likely loose your data and settings.
If you're new to flashing firmwares, check the great reference guide on where to find Odin and how to use it (this is the app you'll use to flash the above firmware).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
After flashing, try getting into recovery mode. If you can look for an error message under the standard menu. Can't get to d/l mode? You're probably in trouble. Get into recovery and see an error msg? Post the error here or google it for a solution. No error msg? You're probably ok - restart the phone.
Good luck.
Thanks guys.
I'm about to try it now, but before I start potentially breaking my phone even more, I was just thinking: Could I just send it back to Samsung? Would they fix it, or identify right away I have changed something and void my warranty.

If it's broke, you can't break it any more I've sent phones back in for support after flashing back stock firmware (flashing it after it "died").

Rooted then back to Stock firmware for warranty ! ?

Hi,
I have a problem with my galaxy s not booting unless plugged in, after a long research it seems that it's a hardware issue so I wanna send it back for warranty.
Thing is, I have rooted my phone and then I went back to the original firmware (from samsungfirmware ) and then, I upgraded it via Kies to 2.2 and everything is fine apart from my the issue that I just explained.
the question is, would samsung repair it , would they realize that I have rooted my phone before ??
what's the worse scenario in this case ? should I give it a shot or repair it myself?
thanks
I think, the worse scenario is they won't repair your phone and send it back to you (and you have to pay the delivering).
If you unroot your phone, I don't think they are able to find out if your phone was rooted or not (or is there any root-log-file?).
thx for reply
I'm not sure how I can see what's in my internal (sys) memory since it's not rooted. but I formatted everything (boot, sys, sd ext ...) before flashing the stock firmware.
thanks
With HTC we have A RUU that restores the phone to exactly the factory condition all you need is USB connectivity. You need to find this EXE to run and bring it back to stock and in theory they cannot tell if it has been rooted. Out of neccessity I had to send my Evo back fully rooted with custom boot animation and splash screen and i never heard anything about it. You can take the chance or you can google until you find the correct file.
As long as its no longer rooted I'm pretty sure your good
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
thx guys, I'll take it tomorrow and see what's gonna happen.
best regards
Let us know how you get on .
