[Q] S Memo Default SD Save - to Phone Reqd - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had a good look but cannot find a way to default save S Memos to phone rather than SD. Any help would be gratefully received as I need to be able to do this as I use phone USB connected alot and it will not open S Memos as saved to SD card and thus cannot talk to it.
Many Thanks
Kind Regards

System Storage vs USB Storage SMemo default
In addition, I believe SMemo saves by default to the USB Storage partition of the phones memory. When USB connected this becomes inaccessible. Does anyone know a way to change the default to the System Storage partition which presumably remains accessible in USB mode.
Regards
Nota Bene

i think the best practise would be moving smemo data on external sdcard so we won't have to lose all smemo data when we face with a corrupted system partition. I lost lots of valuable smemo data myself after i had to format system part when system crashed. I know i can backup on evernote or gdocs but the process is not automatic and i find it exhausting to manually sync smemo each time i take a new note

Save SMS to memory card?

Hi i was wondering if there is any mod or any way to save SMS messages to a memory card? the reason i wonder this is that after a few hundred SMS the phone begins to slow and i would like to prevent this.
Thanks
No... and even then it would most likely be even slower on the card (internal memory is faster)...
Maybe some 3rd-party SMS programs can if you really want to go that way, but what I'd recommend is simply to delete some so that the phone doesn't have to list those hundreds of messages each time...
mmk, thank you for the quick resoponse
I've had over 1000msgs on my device and never saw it as affecting the phone's speed.
Have u looked into other factors that may be hindering the speed of your phone? (i.e. apps open in the backround)
I'd noticed that too many SMS slowed my phone down - I use PIM Backup to save my texts when I get too many - I transfer the file it creates to my storage card or PC so I could reload if ever I need to look back through them - keeps it clean and a free program too.....
Edit - link for you http://www.dotfred.net/
to save power when in suspended mode your pda power down sd interface
but the phone features are running in the background even when suspended
if you could make your device put sms's on the sdcard
when you received then while your phone was suspended they would be lost
as the sd card would be unavailable when suspended

Quick question about installing apps...

Is there much of a performance impact withe regards to install applications on the internal storage instead of on "\"
No!
If there is, it's minimal. I install all my third-party apps to Internal Storage, and they certainly don't take any longer to open, or are they slower running than any of the apps in ROM.
Yes there's a performance difference. If you install them on the ROM you'll find them running slower! Why? Well the ROM is your memory. If you installed a lot of large apps there then you'll have no memory! Then things will really get slow.
Note, however, if you install them on \Internal Storage but then connect your phone to the PC for a data connection (i.e. not an ActiveSync connection but the one where you get \Internal Storage mounted as a drive letter) you will not be able to run anything on \Internal Storage. In fact, you won't be able to see \Internal Storage since it's mounted as a drive to your PC. Worse yet, any applications you were running from \Internal Storage will freeze and will not be killable, necessitating a reboot.

[Q] Default Settings discarded

Some hours after setting SwiftKey as my default keyboard, the system keyboard is active again. Also, when starting the facebook app, many times I have to re-enter my login data. Sorry for asking this noob question but it gets really annoying. What can I do in order to keep my settings / login-data stable?
Are they (swiftkey and facebook) installed to the external sd card?
If so that's the problem. When rebooting your phone, it loads all internal data first, then mounts and reads the sd contents. If swiftkey is on sd card, it will load the default keyboard first (cuz it needs keyboard).
Move them to internal memory to correct the problem.

[Q] Is there any Rom that support Mass storage?

Is there any Rom that support Mass storage?
I am now using Official 20B Rom with UMS apk ton use mass storage mode, but there have been lots of trivial problems for Official 20B Rom, e.g. extremely low phone volume, sometime the other end on phone can't receive my voice, battery drain for idle (1 battery drained overnight without any clue of what have happened)
Please don't sell the crappy MTP mode to me, it is simply rubbish to me, the reason is this:
I am keeping 4 copies of >6GB of files (~3,000 files, including doc, pdf, files, but not mp3 files) in 4 places, including 2 on window and 2 on android devices, to synchronize these copies without the need to transfer 6GB of files everytime and without using the cloud (I never trust cloud, don't sell me on this), I need to use software on window (e.g. free file sync) to synchronize the copies 2-3 times a day with just about 1-10mb of changes.
As such, the only viable option to me is to mount the SD card as a separate drive on window using android's mass storage mode, so that I can use folder synchronizing software to synchronize these copies of files.
The other stupid option is to remove the SD card from the android device 2-3 times a day and use card reader, but this is troublesome and have some chance to damage the content of SD card if not done properly.
So, :crying: please kindly tell me which ROM other than the crappy Official 20B Rom would support Mass storage mode, thanks.
As far as i know all roms are based on AOSP, which use emulated storage layout.
Emulated storage can't handle UMS due to partitionning tricks. UMS is only usable on external SD.
I really would like to know all everybody does to transfer large files. through wifi is not working as fast as it could be with UMS, and as you mention, MTP and PTP are discutables.
A big fail for me, but it seems i'm the only one to think this is
Mass storage to external SD is as good, any ROM suggestions?
vanir 4.3 wit ararargi cust. have mass storage
syncing files
for syncing files between devices you may want to look at bittorrent sync, i'm not 100% sure but it may sync differences in large files instead of uploading the entire file, they have an android app as well as an application for windows.
hope it helps you

Question Set SD card as default Whatsapp memory for images, video...

I tried hardly to set the external SD card as Whatsapp default memory for images, video on the Redmi Note 10Pro... With no success.
Tried from within the app and from the phone, no way. WhatsApp stuff will slowly eat the memory for no reason. I managed to set it as a default for the camera, but not for WhatsApp.
Anybody has a way or a workaround? Hints are highly appreciated.

Not allowed by WhatsApp when SD used as removable storage - I guess it's something to do with security ?
If you are rooted you can mount the internal Whatsapp folder to your sdcard. That way all data which is supposed to go into that folder on the internal storage is saved on the sdcard instead. But you would need to format it as f2fs, or ext2/3/4 for that to work. If you do that it will only be readable under linux. It wont work on Windows, or inside digital cameras, recorders, etc.

WhatsApp has implemented scoped storage https://developer.android.com/training/data-storage#scoped-storage, means you won't be able to store app data outside their own boundaries unless you use the sd card as adoptable storage https://source.android.com/devices/storage/adoptable
It's understandable why most flagship doesn't have any microsd anymore. To put it simply, it wasn't easy just to put apps data into a removable storage anymore, as we perceive removeable storage as, well, removable, while it's not anymore - it's part of your phone, to extend your phone internal storage. Losing it, accidentally breaking it, can cause data lost for some apps. For the sake of convenience, easier to use, and manufacture's benefits, it's more preferred to remove the microsd altogether instead.
i have root
is there no a module or app? there was app called "folder mount" it was working but android 12 not working more
