Hi
Can anyone shed some light. My SGN suddenly lost the ability to make phone calls ('Mobile Network Not Available' message), cannot connect to wireless network and cannot connect to mobile data. I rooted it about a week ago and it has been fine up until now.
I tried unrooting, re-rooting, re-flashing current firmware (LA6) and reflashing just the radio (LA4). All processes were successful but didn't fix the issue. I tried a different SIM, but no dice!
Is there anything else I should try? Does it look like I have a hardware problem?
Thanks.
Further info - switching to GSM Only has restored mobile internet and wireless network connection (?????? WTF???) BUT cannot make a phone call.
Help please.
Sort of the same problem over here, only Emergency CALLS. Sim slot looks defective. Tried everything. Thickened the SIM, Flashed stock and rooted roms with Odin and Mobile Odin. Several factory resets and wipes. Sim is ok, using it in another phone now. Other sim also doesn't work.
I sort off solved my own problem while leaving myself with a worse one!
Pushing my panic to one side, I discovered that I had wireless and bluetooth but no phone, text or mobile internet.
I checked online to discover it had been blocked!
Phone was a private sale so back to first owner to get network details and see if he has done anything silly - like report it lost or stolen!
Arghhhhhh!
Probably wanted to use his insurance and claimed it stolen. You're screwed I'd think

My N1 will not reconnect to a mobile network if it has been sitting for a few hours in a no-coverage area, such as a building. I cannot get it to reconnect, even after refreshing the network search. This action only leaves me with no result or a message saying that there was an error in searching or connecting to mobile networks. The only solution is to restart the phone. Every time I try to turn the phone off after this error has occurred, the shutdown sequence hangs until either I become frustrated and do a battery pull, or it automatically restarts and do a battery pull, or it automatically restarts itself. Furthermore, the phone used to give me an error notification saying that the phone does not have carrier service. Now, it does not. Furthermore, the phone used to give me an error notification saying that the phone does not.
I tried uninstalling all my programs and nothing has worked for me. I've also tried toggling the airplane mode to no avail.
I'm considering putting on the cyanogen ROM to see if it would fix this error, but I am hesitant to void my warranty. It's a pretty serious problem as I'm very frequently in a building where I don't get service. It's quite frustrating to have to wait to reconnect to a mobile network once I leave the building and hope that the error didn't occur or have to do a battery pull every time I realize that the phone simply won't reconnect.
Can anyone suggest any solutions?
Mod it. What have you got to lose? Your overall performance will increase. The radio signal may even improve. Your call.

thanks for the tip. i've been thinking about it. it's the warranty i don't want to lose. eh i'll keep thinking about it.
this phone sucks. it's glitchy, can be sluggish. iphone got dumbed down but at least its functions work.
meh
Hey!
You dont want to lose your warranty, then use it!
Your phone seems to be faulty...
My phone is experiencing the same problem as of yesterday. Won't connect. Wonder if it's a T-Mobile issue.

Its only glitchy coz you have stock rom
Cyanogen is really stable and adds alot of features / functionality.
Fair enough you dont want to lose warranty but i remember in the general thread that lots of hardware failures and others can still fix your n1 under warranty even though they unlocked the bootloader.
I too have this problem, hopefully the 2.2 update will fix the problems.
Can you guys confirm if its android or your service provider thats causing this...

I have the same problem and it's starting to bother me a lot because my car is parked in a garage with no coverage. My in-car BT then becomes useless as my phone won't reconnect to the network once I exit the garage
I just called Google support 10 mins ago about this and they went through normal protocol to reset to factory settings. They then called Tmo and let them know what the issue was while I was still on the phone. Tmo unregistered my phone from the network while my battery was taken out of my phone and then reregistered my phone to the network. Tmo asked me to monitor this for a few days and call them directly (not Google) if the issue persists. They will then elevate this to a higher level because they feel this would be a network problem, and not a hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Please post what you have tried to solve the problem!

^ it worked! my phone reconnects to the cellular network after what Google/Tmo did for me on the phone!
I haven't tried calling tmobile, but it is NOT something that will be fixed by hopping on cyanogen's rom. I've been rooted on cyanogen's rom for quite some time and this problem still exists on my n1 which is SUPER annoying. I will try calling tmobile to see if they can fix it on their side, but rooting is not the fix here.
I had the same issue. I used anycut and phone info shortcut and changed the wireless default setting to us and it totally fixed the problem. Have not had that issue again.

I resolved this by going to the T-Mobile store where they replaced my SIM card. They made a copy to a new SIM card, installed it and everything works fine.
For the record symptoms included:
* "Error while searching for network" message
* Found networks but said "your SIM card is not authorized for this network" when connecting
* Network listed as "No service" or "Emergency calls only | T-Mobile"
I get this too with an at&t phone.
Have asked for a replacement device from HTC (since the reception is crappy to begin with).
I also have audio quality problems when reception is only 1-2 bars.
Will see if the new phone is better.
I had this problem regularly. It hasn't happened once since I upgraded to Froyo, so I think it has been fixed in that release.
sometimes have this too, i fix it by going to the settings > wireless > mobile networks > APN. at first i deleted and retyped my password in the selected APN, now i just click my network in the APN settings, don't change anything and leave. It immediately reconnects after that.
edit: and i have stock froyo & live in belgium.
I got a new, replacement phone from HTC today.
This new phone has a BIG PROBLEM with this issue.
Even if I am only without reception for a couple of seconds (go through the garage, etc.) it will not connect to any network until I reboot.
My old phone would only experience this problem maybe 25-35% of the time.
Very, very annoying!!!

I had similar issues and called tmobile support. I was first linked to Google support. They went through the similar process as described by in the first page. (#*#*4636*#*# select USA band etc). While I was on hold, they called t mobile tech support and had them reset network connection and tried to get me onto a different tower etc.
Tmobile support stated that my sim card (had for about 2 years) was the cause of the issue as they can't handle smartphones as well as their new sim cards. They also said the new sim should improve reception and connection stability (Don't see how a new sim could do this but what do I know?). Moreover, they noted my account and told me to go into the nearest store for a new sim card. Went into the nearest tmobile store told them the issue, they pulled up my account and gave me a new sim. Took less then 5 minutes and I have not had the issue with staying connected to the tmobile network.
I will update this after a few days to see if I still have the issue.
I have the same problems that i cannot connect to network here in germany. first i think it was my sim card, but befor i had another provider (E-Plus) where i had the same problems with reconnecting to network. and one day my eplus sim card is broken so i had to buy a new one by t-mobile. i have tried a lot of roms from here (cyanogen/ 5.0.7 /5.0.8T5 Kangorama rodriquezstyle and leofroyo) everyone seems to have the same problems with reconnecting to network. i hope im not alone with my problems and someone can help.
hmm...
Count me as another. I just upgraded to froyo and it went beserk. Had no service for a while. It would only come on after constantly tapping "select network automatically" until it kicked me out of the menu. It started getting better but kept kicking me out of 3g. I set it to stay always on 3g and it seems to be better... still I'm going to call tmobile and see if I can get a new sim as well.
Thanks for the info guys!
Hello I'm having difficulties with my i9000.
The problem first started when I smashed my screen. Bought a replacement screen and middle plate frame bezel, including the home button flex cable. I also unfortunately damaged the loud speaker and thus replaced that also. Now everything is installed and the phone works great except for connecting to a network and making calls.
When I dial a number I get "Mobile network not found". When I check available network it finds my network and attempts to connect. Then I get a message this network is not available for this sim card, or something along those lines.
The sim card works in another android phone and other sim cards gives the same message.
The IMEI is intact and correct.
The phone is unlocked
I started on 2.2 and have flashed the firmware with many different types and still with the same message.
Now my question is this, how would changing the screen, middle plate & loud speak have this effect on the phone? Bear in mind that the phone still functioning with the cracked screen and making calls.
If anyone could help put me out of my misery it would be most appreciated.
Try flashing different modems now !
I'd say you might have disconnected a cable or forgot to reattach it. However, that might not explain that you do see the network sometimes. So yes, modem's probably a safe bet.

Ok I'll try this, not quite sure how the changes I made would effect the modem.

All cables have been checked and triple checked, and the network is always visible to connect to. Thanks for the advice I'll try the modem, is there a particular one I should try? I'm in the UK and my phone provider is 3.
Tried various different modems, giving sometimes better signal quality and sometimes worse. None of them have any effect. The message i get when connecting to the network is "your sim card does not allow connection to this network". Which to me sound like it may be locked again. So I'm going to try and dig out the original sim card and try that.
Try some other network and check !
Tried other networks and still no joy. I've flashed it many times now, gone back to stock firmwares and nothing will work. Spoke to Samsung and they just tell me to plug it in to Kies, which does nothing. I'll take it to my nearest Samsung service centre and see if they can fix it.
1. In security remove SIM pin request at restart.
2. Reflash MODEM with odin
3. At searching network check (automaticly)
Hi Team,
I have heard lot about this forum and hope to get some gud suggestions from you guys.
I bought my Samsung Galaxy ace GT-S5830 with android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS 6 months back but slowly I started facing few problems when my friends noticed and told me that your phone sometimes says switch off.
I also realized that sometimes even if the airtel network is there still i get an error message that mobile network not available I had to switch off the phone to get it normal.
Again people text me but it goes on pending and gets delivered after hours. I showed this problem to the service center they flashed my mobile but the problem persist I also tried changing my sim card but still all in vain. Now i am literally fed up with this phone.
Please assist me I dont know wat to do :crying:
Note: The phone is not rooted.
Thank you
err, are you sure this is because of the phone..? not the network..? because i never face any of the problems you mention..
may be you should try flashing stock rom with newest baseband for your region, find it on sammobile..

He said the service centre guys reflashed the rom. but agree that the sms thing could be network problem.
Faulty battery/pins (Switch offs)
Faulty hardware (Antenna?)
That's all I can identify.
Hi Guys !!!
Thanks for sharing your views
@demiorkan
The mobile automatically does not gets switched off but i need to do it manually as it keeps on prompting the error message "Mobile network not available" though I can see full network on my mobile.
I would really appreciate if I get any suggestions from your side.
Let me know if any more information is required.
If you dont mind you could try flashing another stock rom and see if that works out. If it did not, then it's probably a hardware problem OR the network (as mentioned). Try your SIM card on another phone as well, that should prove if there is problem with the network or not.
Mostly it might be a firmware problem. Service center might not have flashed a new firmware but simply wiped and gave back. (can't be sure on that). So I recommend on using ODIN and flash new firmware. Google is your best friend on this.
Secondly about the network, Turn on flight mode once and turn it off, you'll get the signal. You can even do some debugging by going to the testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and toggle the radio and the preferred connection type and stuff. But if the place where you are is such that you get low signal, then don't try any things on phone as it's ultimately the network problem. Trust Me, the place where I stay, I rarely get proper reception and Even I'm on the same network. Flight Mode trick saves the unnecessary reboot.
I finally decided to upgrade from my Nexus 4 to a Z1, and I moved my Three UK contract SIM into the new Z1, it installed the internet & MMS settings and it was fine. But all of a sudden completely random the speeds will drop, the ping will go into the 800s and I can't really load anything on my device.
I'm really not sure what the issue is, whether it's a problem with the drivers, a problem with the actual antenna or if it's just an issue with the software.
I've just tried a factory reset and I'm still getting the same issues, it will be fine most of the time and then just deteriorate until I just can't load anything. The only thing that seems to fix this is a reboot or turning off mobile data and turning it back on again. Obviously this isn't acceptable when I've just paid this amount of money for the phone.
Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to flash another ROM in case I do actually send it back because won't it void the warranty? If not, how do I go back to stock if I have flashed another ROM?
When putting the SIM back in my Nexus 4, there's no issues at all as there wasn't when I used it before.
I'm really lost, I love this phone but it seems I may have to send it back... Help appreciated!
Contact Call Center of your Provider an tell them to give you the right settings for internet and mms, the settings installed automatically on Z1 not always work. They will send you an sms with the installation. I had similar problem solved with the sms.
I bought a second hand GT-I9305. After the first boot I dicided I wanted to flash it with the CM nichtly. I first rooted the stock rom, flashed a recovery and then flashed CM. Now the problem is the I can't make calls. When I dial a number the phone responds with 'call ended' before it even starts.
I don't know if the phone worked to begin with, the first thing I did is flash it.
I've tried different roms now and reverted back to the 4.3 factory image. None of that fixed the problem. I've also tried putting to 2 or 3G only which didn't help either. My phone still shows an imei number.
I'm completely aware of the fact that I might have done something very stupid. I flashed android devices before but I'm the type of person who reads the manual when it's to late.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this problem?
I'm usint T-mobile on the EE network in the UK.
Problem still unsolved, more information
I'm giving some more information as the problem isn't solved yet.
I'm on a Pay as You Go sim that works fine in another phone (HTC Desire S). I've now also try to downgrade to 4.1.1 but still no luck. I've also tried different sims but the problem occurs with those sims as well.
The phone looks to be registered to the network, at least that's what it shows. Also, data works, I get a 3G and H+ connection,
I'm more than happy to provide more information. Any help is greatly appreciated.
SIM unlocked? Google xda sim unlock GT-i9305...
Phone not locked
Thanks for your reply. The phone is already unlocked.
IMEI blocked? If you're in UK try www.checkmend.com/uk/ it'll cost you 1.99 but might save you time & effort...
