I recently upgraded to ICS with the official OTA upgrade. My lock screen shortcuts have disappeared! I went to settings ---> personalize ---> display and checked off show launch bar shortcuts on lock screen, but they don't show up. I'm using Go Launcher EX, would that cause this? Is there a way to use a third party launcher and still be able to have shortcuts on the lock screen?
the lockscreen shortcuts under ICS on sense 3.6 are the same shortcuts at the bottom of the screen on the sense launcher, if you use another launcher, you also disable the shortcuts on the lockscreen, only way to get launcher icons on the lockscreen now is with a custom lockscreen like widget locker

Yes, an alternate launcher would disable your shortcuts. The following is a pic of my lockscreen. I am not using an alternate launcher, I'm using pure Sense 3.6.

On my Sensation XE I'm using Go Launcher, but lockscreen icons work fine, I just used Sense launcher once to change the shortcuts.
To get the icons, go into the sense launcher to get the lockscreen icons. Then you can go back to Go.

I posted a thread about this right after the official RUU came out. The apps that are in your dock are your lock screen shortcuts.

I have a Nexus S running Jelly Bean. When it ran ICS there were no problems with Widgetsoid2x 3.4.1. But now with Jelly Bean, after installing Widgetsoid and rebooting. I press and hold on the home screen and I get to choice of wallpapers to select from...not like the old dialogue box that also allowed shortcuts and widgets to be added.
How can I add a widgetsoid widget to my Jelly Bean home screen?
Thanks
You access them through the widget tab in the app launcher.

Thanks. But when you go into apps, and select widgetsoid, you are told to go to the home screen and press and hold. When one does that with Jelly Bean, you get to pick a wallpaper...NOT a widget like I could with ICS.
If that's what you mean by app launcher.
Thanks for the suggestion anyways.

So you want to add a widgetsoid widget to your screen, so you go into your app drawer, then slide over to the widgets...then hold down one of those widgetsoid widgets until your regular screen pops up and put the widgetsoid on the homescreen and once you do that it takes you back to the widgetsoid editor where you can make your widget how you like and when you are done you select apply and there it is wherever you put it.
That's the only way I can explain it.
Looking to clean up and customize my home screen i wanna start by editing my icons on my home screen and other windows, i know the app drawer will remain named with text, but i did this on my g2x and forgot how. Also i want to remain unrooted cause after my galaxy s2 and rooting it for the skyrocket ics rom compared to the ics rom tmob released the performance change was very welcoming. But if you have any apps or input on remove text from icons on the home/windows while keeping it as stock as possible please let me know, also screenshots would be nice if recommending a new launcher etc.
Thanks

Apex , best launcher going IMO....
Free and paid versions on G-Play and XDA thread for it HERE.. I'm using a custom dock and icons but you can use stock , even download a touchwiz theme if you wish.
Sorry Im not on stock but I do know that it works on stock 100% without root. ( Root needed if you install as a system app , but as normal app its not needed)
Either that or .xml / smali edits but wouldn't know what to edit to be honest ?????

I use Nova Launcher. Very customizable.
Go launcher Hd
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I have applied Trickdroid 8.0.0 to my HTC One, and then put the Nova Launcher on top of this.
I have applied the "Stock Jelly Bean" Icon Theme settings to Nova, so that when unlocked, I get these preferred icons.
However, the lockscreen is still running out of Sense UI, I guess, as the default HTC Icons are displayed.
Can I change this?
Additionally, can I alter the default apps on this lockscreen? i.e. I am trying out K-9 Mail instead of both the default HTC mail and Google's stock email, mainly because the latter 2 don't seem to render emails to show the full screen.
I am looking at trying Android Revolution HD as an alternative, that might give me this functionality. Perhaps someone could comment on this as well please?
Thanks
Natively, there is no way to change the lockscreen icons. BUT, there's an app called 'Unicon' in the Play store that lets you use Icon Packs system wide, even in the setting menu. So check that out!
As for changing the icons, the dock actually directly relates to it if you haven't noticed, so change the dock and you change the lockscreen apps.
I'm on ARHD, no special functionality here.
Good luck!

Thanks jikstah
I think there maybe a problem with the nova launcher with this as well... The lock screen displays the default set of icons (phone, messages, lock, Internet and camera) but home screen has my custom setup and I use some different apps for some of these too. Nova also has the ability for scrolling pages of the dock, which might be the cause to the problem?
I will look at unicon as well. Thanks for the tip...
Thanks again
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
The lockscreen uses the icons you have in the Sense dock to decide which icons to display. Nova is powerless.
I just turned off my lockscreen in the settings. It goes straight to nova. Also, I created a custom shortcut to Blink feed, so I get the best of both worlds!
thanks sauprankul
i think you might be right. i tried unicon, and same result.
it would be nice for this infinitely customizable android to be able to do this, while keeping the elements of sense i like (zoe's mainly)
so in your setup, you have zero lock screen items going on then? just rely on notifications instead? how does this occur with incoming calls? and alarms?
thanks
... and there is no alternative lock screen choice that can be made, when running sense? even from trick droid ROM, which still has sense capabilities but they are not turned on by default (i.e. i could do similar to you, and add it as a widget item if i wanted. i dont, btw...)
I have tried the tweak ROM / zip that is linked to the Trickdroid ROM, but reflashing this pack with different options does not seem to make a difference...
Lock screen is either stuck with default HTC Sense functionality or you have to 1st unlock the AOSP lock screen, then you will see the other lock screen underneath.
I am seriously disappointed with this lacking functionality. Taking the shine off all the other bits I'm enjoying about my switch to android...

First off I am in no way involved in development or releasing any of these items, only finding it, testing on our devices and posting it for everyone else.
There's a thread in Android Development for Sense 6 apps from the One M8, link here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696399 I recommend subscribing to it as I have so that when everything works you will know about it. For now, BlinkFeed works just fine and requires a 4.4.x ROM but that's about it. I love the way this launcher feels, its smooth and responsive and for some reason just feels right on the Vivid. Here's a couple of screenshots:

I am using WildfireDev's AOKP 4.4.2 ROM, Fancy Widgets with the H7C skin of your choosing, and either Holo Sense 6 or Sense 5.5 for theming. I also installed the BlinkFeed v10 package, then extracted Prismblack.apk from the v9 color mods, pushed to system/priv-app and renamed to Prism.apk. Choose any color you desire and follow the same steps until later versions are released in different colors.
To get weather working- Install HTC Weather like any normal app, then go to System Settings>Accounts and Add Account, then select HTC Weather. After that, set the first page of the launcher (aka BlinkFeed) as the default home page.
If this helps you change your experience with your phone (or even improve it) feel free to hit the thanks button
Good Post....:good:
If anyone has issue with weather, make sure High Accuracy is set in Location settings.
Update! New thread with new features for BlinkFeed, and it works better. You can now select your theme from Personalize in the settings menu and add custom RSS feeds, as well as add more apps and services than before. Here's a link to the new one- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735764
I had some text issues with the 5x4 grid download, I suggest the 4x4 grid for our Vivids.

I have been able to get the 4x5 grid to display more properly using xposed modules and App Settings to change the dpi of the BlinkFeed app. Here's setting that display best for me, though widgets aren't 100% centered-
