did u root ur device after unlocking it?
if not! start with this
if yes! then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341127 download the recovery image from the website, put it in the tools folder u have used while unlocking, reboot ur phone in fastboot (remove battery > volume down+power), open a cmd on ur PC, go to the tools folder
type in:
fastboot flash recovery r1-recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7-modaco-runnymede.img
(tip is to type r1 then hit tab to complete full line without typing it all)
that's it for flashing the recovery image!
then go to the development section to choose a ROM to flash it on ur device.

When I unzip it it does not appear to have all instructions ie;start. When I downloaded the RUU to my phone more information was present. Can the RUU be flashed directly from the phone ? Hope this makes some kind of sense !

but i can't find it out!!! plz if someone else have to answer like this plz stay away... Man please if it was a joke this wasn't funny i really don't know how to flash a new f*****g kernel, to flash cm10.1 nightly
The Optimus Black doesn't use fastboot. Everything is done through recovery.
Download Clockwork Mod from the Play store, use that app to flash a custom recovery.
Enter recovery by repeatedly pressing volume down at power up or use a reboot to recovery app.
To flash roms/kernels, copy to your sd card, boot into recovery, select install zip.
The bootloader is not locked, unless you have flashed the offical LG ICS rom with the smartflash tool. If you have and want to unlock it, just flash any froyo/gingerbread offical LG rom with smartflash, that will unlock.
1. Make sure you are rooted, if not, read Nooby's how-to on how to do it. It's a sticky in LGP970 section on xda.
2. Once rooted, you can install ROM Manager and flash cwm/twrp recovery from there. Give it root permissions when asked for.
3. Boot into recovery using ROM Manager or any other third-party app. Flash the .zip for the kernel you want. Make sure it is compatible with the ROM you are using.
4. Once kernel flashed, boot into the system.
Bootloader is generally unlocked unless you are running official ICS on your OB. If that is the case, don't do any of the above mentioned steps as you will end in a boot loop.
If on official ICS, use Smart Flash Tool to flash unlocked bootloader. You can follow instructions here on jockjoint's thread
Once bootloader is unlocked and you have flashed su.zip as per instructions in the previouslsy mentioned thread, boot into recovery (it's already there in the unlocked bootloader flash).
Once in there, flash a compatible kernel and ROM as per your needs/liking.

Okay. You can try the steps below:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Flash custom recovery
3) Root your phone
4) Boot into recovery and restore from there
5) Reboot your phone to see if the problem is solved.
If the problem that you were facing is solved then
6) Full unroot you device
7) Reflash stock recovery
8) Relock the bootloader *
Done! And now, you will be able to install the OTA updates .

*If you are not rooted and have stock recovery in your phone already, I don't think locking your bootloader is necessary to install the OTA updates.

Installing OTA updates require Stock Recovery.
You need to unlock your bootloader and then flash the stock recovery for your phone.

How did you flash custom recovery with locked bootloader???
Sent from my A1 using XDA Free mobile app
Follow the instructions below.
1) Backup all your important data
2) Download the zip file from the attachment and extract it into a folder of your choice
3) Enable USB Debugging on your phone and connect it to your PC via USB cable
4) Open the folder where you extracted the downloaded attachment
5) Run "Unlock Bootloader.bat" file. Follow the on-screen instructions. This will unlock your bootloader and will factory reset your phone. Your phone will now reboot automatically.
6) Go to Settings >> About Phone >> Tap on Build Number 10 times >> Go back to Settings >> Developer Mode >> Allow USB Debugging . A pop-up message will appear on your screen asking you to confirm USB Debugging from your PC. Tap on Allow.
7) Now, connect your phone again by enabling USB Debugging mode.
8) Run "Recovery Installer.bat" from the extracted folder. Now, your phone has stock recovery (for Micromax Canvas A1). Your phone will now reboot automatically.
9) Again, Run "Lock Bootloader.bat" file from the extracted folder. This will relock your bootloader.
---------------------
Now, your bootloader is locked and you have stock recovery in your phone. You can confirm this by booting your phone into recovery.
Now, you'll be able to install the OTA Updates.
DONE!
Moreover the official image file here: Android One Stock Recovery.img (KitKat) can be used to flash the stock recovery from fastboot mode or using flashify app in rooted phone.
nope that dosent work

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3497371&stc=1&d=1444127029
Ok, I'm not expert but I think I can help you with that
1- First of all you need to root your phone, the easiest way to do that is by using twoelroot app ( download it from here ) just click on the lambda icon to download the apk then install and root.
2- Unlock your bootloader:
before unlocking your bootloader it's highly recommended to backup your DRM keys .. visit this thread to know how you can do that. (video tutorial included).
After backing up your DRM keys download latest flashtool from here then go to this thread and read steps carefully to unlock your boot loader .. the thread also have step-by-step guide video show you how to do that.
3- Flash latest TWRP recovery from this thread via fastboot using flashtool.
4- Now you are ready to flash any custom ROM .. just download one and follow dev. instruction to flash the ROM.
@OsGhaly
2- Unlock your bootloader:
before unlocking your bootloader it's highly recommended to backup your DRM keys .. visit this thread to know how you can do that. (video tutorial included).
No Video can you give me link please ??
Now rooted my phone & unlock boot loader. Now what ??
Please Help meee
If you already rooted and unlocked your phone bootloader as you said then there's no need for these videos
All you need now is installing TWRP recovery to be able to flash new ROM. And the easiest way to do that as follows:
1- Go to play store and install app called "rashr".
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools
2- download recovery zip file from here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B01MfG-TmJ1KcTIyUnRreDk3MEU/view?usp=sharing
3- Extract recovery zip file and copy "twrp_2.8.5.0-huashan.img" image file to your SD card
4- open rashr app and do update if asked then do backup if you want ... after that press "recovery from storage" and browse to the recovery image file location and flash it.
Thankyou bro
So i have successfully installed a custom recovery on my phone running Marshmallow and also unlocked the bootloader!
Its quite simple actually!
I am not responsible for any damage you make to your phone!
Steps-
1. Download the zip file from the link and extract it.
2. Install both the drivers and then proceed!(The drivers are universal and work for Windows 98,xp,vista,7,8,8.1,10 but in 8,8.1,10 you might need to turn off the digital signature verification-Make good use of google)
3.After installing the drivers , connect your phone in switched on and remember to turn on usb debugging in the dev options!
4. Open the unlock_bootloader_... and run the .bat file and follow the on screen steps( All the data will be formatted so make a backup beforehand)
5.After doing this you will void your warranty so make sure you know what you are doing!
6. Open the one click installer folder and replace the recovery.img with any recovery that you want.
7. Now again connect your phone in switched on mode and usb debugging on and run the .bat file of recovery installer.. and follow the on screen steps!
8.As soon as the the recovery installation is over do not let teh phone reboot just press the vol up button as the installation process stops and then go to recovery!
9.Boom!! Now you have a phone with unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery installed on marshmallow!!
10.Flash custom Kernels,Boot Animations, Logos and root your phone running marshmallow and brag!

Recovery Kernel?
Hi bro just a quick question did you use the MM kernel in the custom recovery?
On our None AOSP standard Mediatek devices the rom does a Kernel check to ensure both the boot and recovery Kernels are of the same version eg KK boot = KK Recovery LP boot = LP Recovery so I just wondered if the MM Kernel still works in the Philz recovery or are you still using a kernel from a older version of android eg KK or LP.
Hope that makes sense to you
How to open the unlock_bootloader ??? There is no such option
how about rooting? what method did you use?
