I got my HTC incredible s on jan. It's untouched (NOT ROOTED, BOOT MANAGER-LOCKED, etc).
My phone was working fine. But, yesterday night suddenly my phone crashed. So, i had to pull my battery and then switched it on. It crashed again on the HTC letters. So, i thought of repeating the same. I did and i found the same. So, i factory reset using the boot manager. But, THAT's IT. When i was entering the setup it crashed and then never turned on. It vibrated around 7 times and screen didn't turn on.
I thought the battery drained. So, i put it in charge. But, the light didn't glow. Any idea of what happened to my phone? Also, i own a gsm. So, no connection between my phone and my carrier.
Thank in advance

Thanks for the reply. But, i didn't find any topics that helps to turn it off. I mean for the untouched and unrooted mobiles. Can you please post the links? Coz, i'm just a newbie to android. I don't know whether the patches will work if i copy to memory card.
You should sent the Device to HTC, you will get a new one.

Hi I don't know anyone have same problem like me.I just got new HD 7 from tmobile and I have a issues phone getting hot after whatever talking on the phone or play phone five -ten minutes . You guys have same issues?!!if not I need to call tmobile to change new one.
(forgot to say the getting hot part r on The bottom of the back of the phone)
Its just the CPU its Not a defect this is how all of the hd7's are and how most 1ghz or higher phones are In fact the iPhone 4's cpu is underclocked to minimize the heat
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
is there any instance or any reported case where in the hd7's cpu overheated? or melted/toast/fried the cpu and some of the phones components?
If it overheats it shuts off and cant be turned on until it cools

thanks for reply but my question is this normal??! is it happen to all hd7? if not I need to call tmobile and get the new one.
Don't worry about it unless it reboots or you can't even touch it due to the heat. HTC stated on their official help site that the HD7 will get warm under heavy usage. I believe the problem was also present on the HD2 due to HTC's lack of a more efficient cooling process.
Same thing happens to my hd7 its rebooted a couple of times

If it reboots, you might want to get a replacement.

Hi, im having exactly the same problem as you. After i did re-flashing to custom rom(deep shining), i left my phone charging at night(usb charging) until morning. My phone started to heat, not on battery side, it is at the bottom side.
The effect was heating all the time with battery 100% full charged will gone within 15minutes. I try all the way by reflashing diff. kind of custom ROM. But now i have original SPL with legit Mango. Still not changing anything.
Those symptoms are really come from processor problem?
Hey guys my vivid is looking like is dead. It has power because I can feel it vibrating but the screen is blank. It is cracked the glass so I am hoping replacing it will fix it or is it a deeper problem?

Hopefully replacing it will fix it. If you happened to set up a VNCviewer on your phone you could check by accessing the screen from the computer, but I'm guessing that is unlikely.
Or get a mhl adapter and hook it to ur tv and see if that works .
So yes when I got home I was able to get boot loader on and I tried factory reset so it wasn't my screen I am guessing but when trying to get into recovery or trying to reboot its only on the HTC screen. This came out of nowhere so know I am a Little lost. What could of happened?

if your bootloader is still locked run the stock ruu file and it will put you on a stock Rom and fix any errors

I don't think its charging and yes I am unlocked with the toolkit so I will try relocking I guess see if it does the trick. Really at a loss as t what happen. big scare you guys the phone powered up and turned on by itself now. I am guessing it has something to do with the screen so I am not going to mess with it until I exchange it. Hopefully this week thanks for the help
Seems like I spoke to soon its happening again. I am getting a power light but no boot up. The home keys will vibrate but the screen stays blank. I am know wondering whether it's the screen or the battery or maybe both..... One thing I do see when I am able to boot up to bootloader is that its telling me the battery has low voltage. Could that mean there is not enough voltage going to the phone from the battery.
My wife's htc incredible s got bricked for life... Not booting to anything and all key combs doesn't work and not recognized by PC. Literally like a brick which doesn't respond to you whatever you do to it....
This happened while her phone was charging, she used a wifi connection to update the firmware of the phone. The update was completed
but when she rebooted her phone, she never gets to see it working a gain.
The it wasn't rooted, or S-Off. Just on a stock firmware...
PLEASE HELP HOW TO UNBRICK THE PHONE.
please dont suggest riff box with jtag.... the box is expensive here in sweden

Guy's I just realized today that when I connect it to the charger or pc... the charge led turns solid orange.
And it appears to be charging..
Will that give any indications as to the status of the phone (dead or alive) ?

Search for software called J-TAG. I don't know how to use it. Search for guide. I am sure you can UN-Break the phone using that. :good:

Try to charge it for a day and than boot into bootloader, should work if just the USB port broke a bit. The led must be lightning

Hi,
My One died last night, just stopped and the screen went off. No light when charging, no way to revive it by holding down power with vol down etc. It would appear to be an ex-one...
Anyway, I'll need to speak to HTC tomorrow to get it sorted. What is their warranty service like?

Don't give up just yet do a lot of searching on here and you might find a solution.
Unfortunately I didn't and had to leave my phone in for repairs, was sent to HTC in the UK, phone was unlocked and rooted and i was unable to do anything with it but they just sent me a replacement phone no questions asked.

The computer doesn't even recognise anything has been plugged in, so unless it suddenly wakes up - I think it kaput.
How long did the replacement take?
It took me a month because I stupidly sent it back to the phone shop where i bought it who in turn sent it to their repairs place they use it who probably left it lying there for a week or two before deciding they Couldn't repair it and sent it directly to HTC who just replaced it, so send it directly to HTC in whatever country your in, HTC don't really have an official repairs place in Ireland so mine had to be sent to the UK.

My HTC One stopped charging.
I am unsure what is wrong, but it will not charge from the wall, USB, and Power bank.
What is bizarre is that USB OTG is still functioning properly. I was able to back everything up using OTG before it ran out of battery.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
Edit: So it turns out, it will charge when it is turned off, but very very slowly.
when i charge it while its off, the charging LED cycles from red to orange and then it turns off (which triggers the charging animation).

I'm currently on MaximusHD, with its supplied kernel.
I've tried all sorts of charger, and none of them will charge it while its on.
The odd thing is, i haven't changed any settings. So I don't think its related to me messing around with ROMs and such.
This is odd... fastboot from the bootloader is working fine.
On my mac side, 'fastboot devices' is seeing my htc one and is replying with the correct S/N. while still in the bootloader my htc one is being displayed as 'Android 1.0' under 'system information'.
I honestly don't know what is happening, and I am currently in the middle of my exam week, so I'll be digging a little bit deeper after I'm done with my exams.
I haven't found anyone with a similar symptom as me on xda yet... so if anyone's got any suggestions, please chip in.
Thanks.
Sounds a bit odd. You said you tried different chargers. Did you try a different cable as well. You may have to try another Rom just to rule it out. Might be hardware related...

Yep, different cable as well.
Seems unrelated to the rom tho. As it will not charge in bootloader and or recovery.
I'm going to try to flash a different ROM when i'm done with my exams.
Also, would you think it would be safe for me to try and achieve s-off with only fastboot working? As i would need to remove the 'tempered' sign from the bootloader before bringing my phone to repair.
I don't know if this will be useful...
But here's the readout from fastboot getvar.
Yes absolutely s off your phone to remove it. Rumrunner or Firewater should work on that. Personally I'm not sure if changing roms would make a difference but probably worth trying

Would Rumrunner or firewater still work? I currently cant establish any adb connection... but fastboot is working tho.
Edit: I looked into firewater, which seems to be 100% adb dependent. So I guess firewater wont work.
I'm not sure about rumrunner tho... it seems to indicate that it'll check for an adb connection... but im not sure if it utilizes adb.
I recently had the same problem running Android Revolution 62, i didnt plug in my phone overnight and it completely ran dead and wouldnt take a charge at all, all i basically had to do was plug it in to the wall charger for like 10 minutes and hold the volume up and power button for a few seconds and BOOM! the little battery icon popped up on the screen and i was all set.
One thing im wondering about though is do you have to somehow reset your battery stats after this happens ??

Hey, thanks for the input.
My phone started having this issue on sunday. And i'm still able to use the device. The Issue i'm experiencing is that it will not charge while powered on, even in safe mode, bootloader, and or recovery. It just flat out won't charge. to make matters worse, fastboot is working fine in the bootloader, the pc is recognizing it. But as soon as i boot up, my PC and mac will not even recognize it. nothing is showing. The only time that its being recognized by the computer is when its in fastboot mode and for a few seconds while booting up, it'll be recognized as MTP device.
Have you checked that the drivers are installed in device manager. If fastboot works it's likely a driver issue

To be honest with you, i'm not sure if the driver is working (mac user). But even if the driver is installed incorrectly, wouldn't windows device manager thing still pick it up as a generic device? and from my understanding, the phone should still charge even without the correct driver.
Not for charging I was talking more about getting adb working to s off your phone. I think you should probably send your phone back

Well, the thing is, non of my computers are recognizing it via ADB (Macbook, Hackintosh, and Windows), so that pretty much rules out the driver issue. I am planning on sending it back, but I really should get rid of the UNLOCK and TEMPERED sign in hboot...
On another note, if i do bring it in for repairs, what approach should i take? Bring it in without any charge left and tell them it won't charge? or bring it in powered on, and use some other excuse (dead pixels, and or the purple tint) to get repaired?
Also, i've noticed that when I'm charging it while its off, the whole phone would heat up quite a bit (similar to medium/ heavy usage temperature| my estimate would be 40-45 celsius). And it charges really slowly, I would say around 10-20% per hour, while it would make sense to charge slowly, the charger(s) are also heating up quite a bit as well, almost like they're supplying 800-900mA of current.
I've just loaded the stock rom, and sadly, charging and adb is still not working.
any solutions to this? i am having same problem. its barely charging in adb, fastboot, or whether its on . somehow phone isn't charging at all.
