[Q] Alternate Keyboard SLIM ICS with FlexT9 - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung Captivate and just installed the Slim ICS build on it; I can't seem to change my keyboard to Flex T9. It installs and I can select it, but I can't use it any place. I've uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Not sure what I need to do to get the keyboard to work.
Thanks,
John

Restoring apps via a backup can cause huge problems. the best advice I can give you it to install the apk from scratch. Also for keyboards to remain as your "default", it must be installed on your internal memory
i am getting a similar thing.
i have installed swype (internal memory) it is ticked in keyboard settings but when i select input method to change keyboards nothing happens
CM6.1 RC1
EDIT bit more research found this: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/8900-cannot-switch-input-method-cm-61-rc1-to-swift-key/

[Q] 2.1 to 2.2 swype problemette

Hi all, today I moved up from 2.1 to 2.2 using the Kies Reg Patcher. Everything has gone fine except I seem to have lost my Swype. I backed everfything up with Titanium Pro and reinstalled without any probs. However, Swype didn't want to play. I can see the Titanium zip but I can't seem to do anything to get it back. Is this something to do with Swype being pre-installed on my Galaxy S? I loved Swype and really want it back (preferably without going back to 2.1). Can anyone shine a light on what may have happened here?

[Q] Recovering Galaxy S

Hello fellow XDA members,
I'll just cut down to the chase . A while ago I completely wiped my phone with CWM. I formatted the internal and external SD with CWM (I still have the efs folder don't worry) and all the other options except the bootloader ofcourse. So I flashed my phone with ODIN to Darky's ressurection edition (since it was the first ODIN flash I could find). I factory reset my phone and flashed doc's v11.1. However my native language (dutch) and all other locales except English and Chinese were missing. The gingerbread keyboard kept force closing... had this for a while wasn't happy with it started fixing it.
I formatted my phone again and flashed to stock froyo with multi CSC so the dutch language was available again . Everything worked perfectly it was exactly the same as when I unboxed it.
Then I installed doc's rom v11.1 again and the Dutch language was gone and the gingerbread keyboard kept force closing. I fixed the missing language with flashing CrySiS RevolutioN theme since locales are embedded in the framework. For the gingerbread keyboard I found out a lib was missing.. found the lib put in the right place and voila working. However for some strange reason the tab in the launcher 'my files' is still 'my files' and not 'mijn bestanden' (translated it to Dutch). Not a really big deal but alright....
Now comes the weird part however. My little brother bought a Galaxy S too... and I flashed mine and his today... with the exact same ROM from the RomKitchen. But our phones are not the same after the flash... his gingerbread keyboard was working fine immediately and the dutch language was available on the fly... Well now my questions are: what is wrong with my phone? What are the differences between his and mine and how to fix those differences. My main question I want to start from zero again total factory settings and then build up again. (I'd prefer the last question to be answered since I think that that is the easiest way ^^)
Thanks in advance!

Tbh i think the rom im flashing with is actually messed up... however it's from the romkitchen... with the right settings...

[Q] Swype on KG3

Hi all,
I have rooted stock KG3 installed, and am wondering if you can help me with swype.
The installed Sammy version works fine but has a broken speech to text button (it doesn't work).
I've noticed the swype version 2.26.68.19015.1027.GTI9000 that is found in JVT works fine, including the speech to text button.
My questions are:
1. Is there any file that I can replace in order to get it to work on KG3?
2. Can I somehow take the files installed on JVT and replace the files in KG3? If so, which files?
I'd really like to get the speech to text button to work. Afterall, it works fine on the Sammy keyboard, but not on swype in KG3. Damn samsung.
Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] Restoring stock apps on a custom ROM - swype, samsung keyboard, etc.

I installed Cyanogenmod 10 stable (jelly Bean) on to my Captivate. Now I don't like the Cyanogen keyboard, and would like to restore the Samsung keyboard (2.3.5) that was on my Gingerbread stock ROM, which I'd backed up using Titanium Backup.
When I try to restore, it Titanium keeps on forever - i.e. hangs
Also, I've tried to restore the stock Swype 2.9 that came with the Captivate. Can restore it, but it never works - keep getting messages that it stops.
With Swype, at least I have the option of a decent Beta (v 1.3) that I can install.
How do I get the stock keyboard to work on 4.1? And the licensed Swype if possible.
Thanks

Pretty sure you can't get that keyboard to work... but if you want Swype, all you need is beta.swype.com
