I put a green kang version of an ICS rom on yesterday. Now however, I can receive and send texts, but that is about it. My phone does not sync with google, so my contacts etc have not updated. Also, I can place calls, but they do not fully go through. I can not hear any one through my speaker, and they can not hear me on their end.
Does anyone know where I should start? Is there a radio or modem I can flash to possibly reset this?
Are you on .902?
Did you follow all the instructions on the OP...wipe date, etc?
Did you try turning CDMA off then back on again?
I'm on .902 and was on .902 before motofail rooting. Turned it off / on multiple times
Now it works with gsm on: cdma auto, and gsm only. I tried gsm & cdma, and it didn't work e ither.
I followed instructions on the website, but some of their links are down
like https://dl.dropbox.com/0/view/bjgse.../Blur_Version.5.9.901.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip
edit: seems to be working now. resets in 4636 seem to be sticking. thanks though

I have the Cingular 8125 version of this phone and over the past few weeks I've had one nagging issue with the phone. I cannot always receive calls (The 'E' symbol to the left of the bars turns into an X sometimes, or sometimes it even boots with an X there. I can make calls but not receive them when this is the case)
I'm not sure what it could be. I went back to the factory ROM from HTC, and it seems to work better than a couple other ROMs, although it just acted up again (after about a week of behaving nicely). If I clear storage and make it fresh again, then it seems to start working again (like now, although I'm not sure how long it will last this time).
So, could it be the radio? I have no idea what the radio actually does, but it sounds like it involves calling. When I first wanted to install new ROMs, I tried to do a HardSPL change or something following a guide here. Eventually I went back to original data, radio, etc. and now for new roms I do SoftSPL. Here is my device information - please let me know if something doesn't look right...
ROM version 2.25.11.1 WWE
ROM date: 5/11/06
Radio version 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version 2.25.11.102
WM5.0 OS 5.1.195 (build 14928.2.2.0)
IPL 2.25.0001
SPL 2.25.0001
GSM 2.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
If all of this looks like it should from the factory, are there any other ideas on what causes this issue? Again, I can ALWAYS make calls, but if it acts up and that 'X' shows up where an 'E' (or 'G' occasionally), then received calls go straight to my voice mail.
Note: I bought the phone on eBay and it is supposed to be unlocked for any service provider. I have AT&T so I do not know if it truly is unlocked (and don't really care, for now). However, I thought I would mention this in case that process might affect the information above, or if in the process it could cause a problem such as mine with the phone. I have flashed new ROMs and things of that nature several times, which may or may not set the phone back to default (locked to AT&T) - I do not know these things.
I had the same problems that you are experienceing....so I upgraded my radio to 2.71.1, and it pretty much fixed all of my problems...simply hit up Google for Wizard Radio 2.27.1 and you should be able to find it.
Just for verification (as neither are bringing results that jump out at me), which radio am I looking for? 2.27.1 or 2.71.1 ? Your answer consists of both. I am assuming 2.71. I found 2.71.11 and downloaded it, is this correct?
Next, should this not work I can easily revert back to the default radio, correct? I'm pretty sure, but just want to make sure as I haven't specifically updated the radio - just ROMs (which I believe have various radio versions anyways)
yeah man, 2.71.11 is correct, I kinda got cross eyed for a sec there lol. But yes, 2.71.11 is the one that I have been using for a good while now, and I have had no problems with it. And also, yes, you can revert back to your old Radio ROM if this one does not work any better.
Thanks. I'm about to update and we will see what happens. I will post results for anyone curious that runs across this thread.
I've had the issue on the factory ROM, jaguar 4.0, and another HTC-business or something ROM, so perhaps this radio update will fix it.
2.71.11 radio installed. When it reset after flashing the ROM, the phone was not working properly (same issue, not receiving calls). I did a soft reset and it is working now, although there hasn't been enough time to see if it will continue working.
However, I would like to note that I am pretty sure of one thing now: When the phone boots up, sometimes the GSM row is missing (only shows the other 3, not all 4). When this happens, the phone cannot receive incoming calls (but can make them). When all four show on boot, the phone works fine. However, it may be that while the phone is on, it becomes disconnected somehow and stops working. I haven't determined that yet, as this is just one thing I am starting to watch patterns in.

There are quite a few other reasons other then Rom(OS) or Radio Rom in not getting good reception or signal quality,it may cud be a Hardware problem, the external antenna might not be getting a proper connection with the internal antenna connectors, did you ever drop your phone,it sometimes happen that while dropping the connectors loose proper connection, secondly, may be the network signal quality is not better in the area where you move, try out in different locations, check if it improves.
BTW,OS (Rom) has got nothing to do with reception/signal quality, its only the Radio Rom (GSM),which improves the signal quality.Changing/flashing Roms (OS) will not effect Radio(GSM) of the phone,it'll only effect if the Rom which you are flashing contains an upgraded version of Radio Rom in it.
Thanks for the response. I knew only some ROMs included an update for the radio. I've managed to get Jaguar 4.0 installed back on the phone and the 2.71.11 radio. It's been working, but then again that was only since last night. We will see if it lasts through the week.
If not, I will attempt to check out the hardware connections for the antenna. I took the phone apart once when I was letting it dry out after an accident, and it isn't too difficult to take apart. Just need to look up where the antenna connection is. I haven't had any major drops, but the phone was purchased used (although it worked perfectly fine for a couple weeks I believe when first purchased as I was testing out various ROMs for it). Anyways, thanks. I will check antenna if this radio update doesn't help.
It still sounds strange though. The signal bars would say the signal was strong, I'd have great reception making calls, but the 'X' would be to the left of those signal bars and I couldn't receive calls at all. It seems that if the radio / antenna was causing a poor reception, it would apply to both incoming and outgoing calls and the reception would correctly be represented by the signal bars. Again, the signal bars are usually strong, even when I cannot receive calls.
Something is screwy, i had TNTv2 6.1 flashed for a couple of weeks with the 2.19.11 radio, seemed to work fine. Just recently its been acting up. Last night even, people were trying to call but my phone never rang, no SMS, pages, or voicemail notifications would go through either. I did notice that my phone dropped signal and displayed an H (prob similar to your X) and then got signal again. After it registered again, still nothing.
This morning i did a soft reset, SMS notifications didn't come through until i sent myself an SMS through email, then they all flooded in....
This whole radio ordeal sucks. I'm on AT&T btw.
Hi there folks. I got a Bell Samsung Galaxy i9000M about a month ago or so. Initially, I was very disappointed that Android 2.2 wasn't available. After some digging through these forums, I discovered Doc's Froyo ROM thread and read that some people on Bell had used this successfully. I followed the instructions from his thread (am currently uisng Doc's Froyo v7.6.2 JPO, and my phone is rooted as well). Ever since I changed firmware to Doc's v7.6.2 Froyo versus the original Bell UGJH2 (i believe that's what it was called) Android 2.1, my phone auto rejects all incoming calls.
What happens is that any time someone calls my phone by calling my phone #, my phone rings once, then the call is rejected (the phone I call from says it got rejected), and on my Galaxy S, I lose network signal completely (3G/phone signal) for a few seconds when this happens.
Is this a known issue with the ROM I am using.. do I have some sort of option turned on that I shouldn't? I need some help here. Is this something my phone carrier (Bell) is doing cause I hacked the phone?
To clarify, I am perfectly able to make outgoing calls to phone numbers, and I am able to browse internet with 3G/HSPA just fine using Bell's network. Before I did the upgrade to this Froyo ROM, I was not experiencing this issue. I hope someone here can point me in the right direction, I really need to get this fixed because right now, no one can call me.
Really, no replies? There's no one else that has had this issue? I want to flash my phone to the new-er Froyo JPK3 that's supposed to be for Bell.. anyone have a clue whether that should fix it? What about just doing a factory reset?
i have the same problem, different carrier though, german o2
i think it might be cuz of a wrong CSC
i reflash now and report back
My initial guess was that my ROM is not suited for my phone/carrier.. but since I was able to make outgoing calls, use 3G and send/receive texts, I dismissed that idea. Especially since there were other people using Doc's v7.6.2 on Bell with supposedly success results.
So what I did was I went into Clockwork Recovery Mode, and did a factory reset. Now my phone works fine. Beats me what the problem was. Must've been some app I installed I guess.
i had the same problem. i did what you did. factory reset. then used titanium backup to restore all my apps and system settings. thank God for titanium backup lol.
I happens to me too from the 1st time i flash my phone to froyo.. u need to reinstall the correct csc. After a clean flash insert your sim card then dial *#272*IMEI No.# then choose the right csc of your phone. It will make a factory reset after the installation of new csc.
So I tried rooting and flashing my phone tonight. I messed up somewhere along the line and almost bricked my phone (phone--!--pc). I lucked into getting it into download mode and I flashed what I thought was a stock rom which is in the link here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748131
I am on the Bell network in Canada with a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant by the way.
Now I got that rom to work eventually as in it doesn't boot loop and I have wi-fi working. Every now and then I get service through bell for text messages and voice calls but for the most part I only get "emergency calls only" or "no service."
I have no 3g connection whatsoever at any time.
I'm in desperate need for this to work properly even if it means losing the root I really don't care at this point. Just a working phone. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks for your time.
Edit: Okay I did more research and finally found these APN settings: http://androidforums.com/optimus-on...l-canada-internet-settings-lg-p500h-help.html
The 3g network seems to be working now and phone service and text messaging works more often than before but I still get a lot of emergency call only and no mobile network messages. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Go into recovery. Same buttons as download mode but instead of volume down you press volume up. When you are in recovery mode, search voor the reset and when you reset you phone, it will probably have the original rom installed again. That should help! Let me know if it works!
So since I updated to 5.1 I have had lots of problems. Dropped calls, worse battery life, and when I call a place with a touch tone menu I am unable to get through it without pushing the number multiple times. I have already factory reset my phone twice, and I am still having issues. The most annoying one is the issue with touch tone menus. Has anyone else had this problem?
EDIT: Before anyone asks, I'm on stock 5.1 LMYM47M with Franco r21.
find a stock 5.1 rom in the n6 android development threads, flash it, and the latest supersu, both in twrp recovery, if you have it installed. easiest method to fix your issue. might not be the proper way, but thats what id do

I'll try one and see if that helps. At this point, I doubt it can hurt.

Are you on Tmobile?
The 47M seems to only work with Tmobile, since its the only one out with the M designation. The only one out for everyone else ends in the 47I (i)
I tried a few different roms and couldn't get LTE, only 3g calls. I wiped grabbed the rom from Nocturnal and so far so good.

I am on T-Mobile. I tried Chroma, and I am still having issues with touch tone in calls. I can dial a number and they show up on the screen, but when prompted to push 1 I have to hit it several times before it works.
EDIT: I flashed LeanKernel and then went back to Franco and I can now go through the dumb touch tone menus just fine. I'm not sure what happened when I initially flashed Franco, but it appears to be working now.
I was wrong. It's not fixed. Still don't have consistent touch tone menu use. Anybody else have an idea as to what could fix it?
I'm also on T-Mobile and have a lot of dropped calls across the board on various ROMs...stock and custom... Also have the m bootloader and radio but it was the same with the other 5.1 radio

I was able to get touch tones working again by disabling Enhanced 4G LTE mode in settings-->more-->cellular networks.

This worked for me! Thanks. This was my biggest bug with 5.1. Tmobile.
Hello! I am having some issues with upgrading from 4.4.2 (CloudyG2) to 5.0.x. I have installed the modem (as it says that you have to, and I don't feel like bricking my phone xD), and I have double checked that I installed the correct one When I boot up the phone, I can only make 1 call before having to restart my phone - after making that one call, the phone still works fine - I can't make another call. When I try and click the call button the second+ time after entering the number, it simply sends me back to the dialer "home page". I at first thought that it was the but after trying it with another I believe that isn't the issue. Then, I thought that the kernel (Render Kernel) was the culprit, so I tried it without that specific kernel with the exact same result. From that point, I started thinking that the Google Apps (PA) had a connection, so I tried it without the Google Apps, with the exact same result. At this point, the only thing that I haven't changed is the modem - I had to downgrade from 24A to 12B in order to install the 4.4.2. Does anyone with a Verizon VS980 LG G2 have any sort of solution? Thanks!
Update: It seems that if I make a call every time it restarts and make sure that the first call doesn't properly connect, calling has no issues afterwards.
