1080p MHL to hdmi? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

anyone know which one supports full hd output?

this is the one i have and it works great!

i ended up getting this westtek model, can you adjust the resolutions on these things? im getting 720 p on my desktop monitor, which is fine but this thing is supposed to be capable of 3d and 1080p, it only put 640 on this old sony plasma monitor in the living room. and it just isnt putting enough juice to the phone so it a slower drain. I will buy a 30 dollar model if its going to preform like it should.. no battery drain, and 1080p, also netflix is outputing at a 4by3 not 16by9 format. this looks promising http://www.htcdepot.com/ibolt-mhl-streamer-xl-adaptor/5A205A9831.htm

QR code reading on a plasma

Just got a new tv that I'm using as a dual monitor setup. It's a plasma. Was wondering if anybody could read QR codes from it. I think the phone is reading the screen as one giant QR. Specifically, I was trying to read the code from this page.

Can somebody test on their's and post the results?
Been a couple days, bump.
Works fine on mine, except I was using it on a plasma TV that I had connected as dual-screen with my desktop.
Huh, that's what I have except it's from my laptop. Maybe I'm sending a bad resolution to it. 1600 x 900. It's a 1080 screen but the fonts and icons get realty small if I use that resolution. I'll test around, but thanks for response. I know it's me now.
I'll try again when I'm home with different resos and refrseh rates.
Mine read on laptop, LCD TV and LCD monitor.

720p with 3d or 1080p with no 3d?

Buying a new tv and cannot decide if i should get a 1080p tv with no 3d or a 720p tv that has 3d. There about the same price so its hard to decide.

Sooo?
Hmm well its really preference, you only manage to get 1080p with blu-ray right now. Cable is streaming at 720p so it comes down to what you will be using it for, also try out the 3d to see if you even like it. You don't want to buy it and never use it because you don't like it.

Ill probably go with the Samsung. Went to the Mall yesterday and they had a 3D on display and the picture was amazing. Looked like it was actually there in real life.
Plus ive read you cannot tell a difference from 720p or 1080p unless you have them side by side each other.
i would prefer 3d, because on such a little screen you won't see a difference between 1080p and 720p.
If you asked me, I wouldnt buy a 3d tv/screen
I just bought yesterday a 46inch led non 3d samsung tv and uys awesome and I agree no 3d its not worth it go with 1080p

Chromecast + Chromebook

Hi All,
Bought a Chromecast the other day, Connected up fine.
If I try to cast High or Extreme quality off my Acer C710 Chromebook (upgraded to 4gb ram) it becomes very juddery (the picture) the sound is fine though. I haven't yet tried this with my Acer laptop with Ubuntu. If I switch it to normal quality its fine however.
Using Sky Fibre connection (Apple Airport Extreme router).
Any ideas? Is it that the Chromebook isn't upto streaming it in that quality? (Im planning on getting the Toshiba Chromebook 13 anyway)

Could be the wireless connectivity to Chromecast, could be the Chromebook, could be the router...
In general the tab/desktop casting is not very efficient though. Screen mirroring isn't Chromecast's primary function.
Also, what generation of Airport Extreme do you have? There were many that share the same name, but not he same features/performance.

Chromebooks in general are not designed with video encoding in mind, which is an extremely demanding task. I would say that your Chromebook's CPU is bottle-necked.
It's a Celeron processor. It's not strong enough for the encoding burden required at higher bitrates.
I had a feeling it would be the Chromebook, It plays fine at normal quality.
I wont bother with higher quality's till I get a new Chromebook.
Airport Extreme is a 5th generation one I think

Note 8 "Screencast"?

Says not optimized and it just doesn't work to mirror the screen to my Chromecast. Either with Screencast or Smart View.
I have the original Chromecast. Not the "Chromecast Ultra".
Will the Note 8 ONLY mirror the screen on the Ultra? Casting YouTube videos is fine.
I can cast using Smart View with a standard Chromecast just fine. USB-C > HDMI also works with my dongle

Well hell, I'm seeing the same thing. I've always seen that warning on my other phones but I just click "don't show again" and just continue with the cast and it works just fine. Now it's not. Huh... Wonder what's up with that.

Just wondering, are you using your phone in 1080 resolution? I have mine in 1440, and I wonder if that's why.

I am! That could definitely be a good reason.

Okay, now I see the problem. It's the resolution option you choose. I was on WQHD+ (2960x1440) so I switched to FHD+ (2220x1080) and I was able to screen cast to my Chromecast like before. It's the same on the S8 Plus I got. Screen resolution needs to be set to FHD+ and lower in order to work.
Not the worst thing, the picture seems fine enough for me. Wonder if future updates to the Chromecast will support higher resolutions.

The original Chromecast won't ever be capable of more than 1080p resolution. The Chromecast Ultra offers 4K, though.

Guess I need to look into an upgrade.

I've given up on this phone and selling it

After a month and some time with this phone, I am thoroughly unsatisfied and plan to sell it. I'm going back to Sony phones. The phone is generally fine but I have some particular issues with it that I decided I actually do need. First the problems,
1. Can't comfortably hold the phone because of the curved screen. I can't seem to stop the phone from scrolling and jumping all over the damn place cause fo the curved screen. Even if I turn it off. Apps routinely switch and scroll randomly when I'm simply trying to read the screen.
2. It can find it's way to the bootloader in my pocket. This has happened 3 times now. I pull my phone out to see it's in the bootloader ready to flash something. I have never had a phone do this and there is no reason being in my pocket will lead to this. I'm blaming bad hardware and software UI for that.
3. Useless fingerprint sensor. Tried using it with a screen protector and could never actually work no matter how much I recalibrated.
4. Camera oversharpens and pictures come out blurry. I don't understand why this happens so consistently.
Other than that, I just miss premium features like AptX, high resolution audio, and a decent IP rating. I tried to give Motorola another chance but this was not it. Anyone interested in buying it from me? It has a 2 year geek squad replacement plan on it.
I'm sorry your having problems. I love mine and it works well at everything you listed negatives for. I have the zagg screen protector and my fingerprint works fine. I don't have random scroll issues. Sounds like a pocket issue, never heard of such a thing.
So you said that you miss AptX HD ? But have you look at what processor it is in your Motorola Edge ? The SD 765G has AptX Adaptive which means next generation of AptX . Take a look at Qualcomm's site before talking because even a little missunderstanding could get into making trouble on opinion to choose the right phone .
It can go almost as high as AptX HD and by almost I mean a difference of 420kbit/s to 576 Kbits on bluettoth and 24-bit / 48kHz sampling rate to 24bit / 96kHz sampling rate .
So in conclusion the AptX Adaptive is kinda of AptX HD but better in line by high res and better in audio latency but lower in high res over bluettoth.
And by the way if you don't have something like Sony XM3 or XM4 to activate the AptX either one it doesn't matter if it has it or not cause it will not use it .
Otherwise the LDAC codec by Sony is superior to any AptX existent by now . So if you want the ultimte high res experience I think you should choose a integrated codec on headphones like Sony's.
Get good buddy :good:
