I know you're problem! Some roms will disable recovery (for example: ICS for stock)
To fix this, Download X8Toolbox:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117100
You will need to have the drivers for your X8 Phone (download on sony's website)
You can install them through device manger!
Now open x8 toolbox, and install a recovery. You can choose
Good luck! after the installation your phone should be able to go to recovery!
I'm new to XDA!
Please press the "thanks" button if i helped!
it really helped

I think you are confused...
Take it from the start, its not necessary that you have brick when you install custom rom with stock kernel. If you have stock kernel you will search for roms which are for stock kernel..as simple as that...if you want to install custom kernel you have to unlock bootloader which is very risky and can't be done to all x8. If you want to check it take off your battery, there will be a code on your phone( no the one on battery) if it is under 11w29 then congrats you are from the lucky one that can unlock bootloader.
*stock kernel mean the original kernel that the phone have when you buy it

Hi. I've Xperia X8 : Rooted, downloaded rom (miniCM7 2.0.7) and all this in CWM.
I tried to install GingerDX but you know GingerDX need xRecovery not CWM so i searched to install xRecovery then I found this apk app( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128854 ) i installed it and installed xRecovery and everything ok BUT when i rebooted my phone my phone stuck in the Boot screen (Sony Ericsson) and nothing new! HELPP PLEASEthxxxx all
Umm, maybe you can try repairing with PCC or SEUS.
Can you still get to xrecovery?
If yes, you can restore a backup with it.
If not, then flash the stock ROM again with Flashtool/SEUS/PCC
And the next time you want to install GingerDx, install the Dual Mode Recovery, it´s very easy, just search for it.
mmm
Well, i wanted xRecovery, but now im scared i want to find a good tutorial on the forum but i dont know, can someone recommend me one that is good for my xperia x8
@Himalay & @codfreak thxx I softwared my phone and everything is ok.
Now I installed xRecovery again (root, busybox, root explorer and I moved all to system/bin ) but when I rebooted my phone and when I pressed the back button its stuck again in logo screen, but when I don't press the back button its start without stucks! Any help ?

Hey Guys
Am kind of lost At the Gdx instruction thingies
Okay i know how 2 install it
..
So
i have the 2.1 ..
With all the required Stuff
the baseband number...etc
So is it now like always?
P.S: My bootloader is unlocked ..
So again is it like always
install ZIP From either Xrec.. Or CWM??
And about the recommendation 2 install The Linux
is it Safe???????
Completely Safe i mean???
And what are the benefits of Linux + GDX ?
..
your answers are gonna be the reason 2 either install the Rom Or not :/
So please HELP?
I did like this :
1.FULL wipe
2.flash gingerdx v017
3.flash linuxdx
And everything is good Is it safe? If you did everything all right its safe now with latest gdx with latest linuxdx i have=NO LAG AT ALL, EVEN WITH MANY APPS INSTALLED AND LOW RAM! ! i really easily recommend it to you
Sent from my X8 using XDA Premium App
If you read carefully GingerDX v014+ requires CWM for install it, for v013- versions you can install with xRecovery.
And GingerDX is safe, little bugs in some versions but with solution in almost all.
In my opinion the battery drain is the most important issue, with the Governor in ONDEMAND my battery drains just in the night 20%, that's a lot. Now, with Smartass, the battery drains just 3% over night.
I don't know about the performance with LinuxDX Kernel. I can't help you with that.
I'm sure that in the respective post you can get more information.

Guys for the love of God don't Get me confused ..
Just flash the kernel, ater that do afull wipe, and then flash the ROM in CWM-Recovery.
And if it´s not stable, flash stock ROm with stock kernel again and flash ONLY GingerDX without the Kernel.
Dude
while flashing the Linux
it stopped ..
And told me 2 tick the God damn USB debugging !!
DAMN I FORGOT 2 TICK IT BEFORE !!
And the phone now won't Go ON..
At ALL !!
it just shakes ..
Then nothin
Am trying 2 Fix it with Sony ericsson update service
But the installation is STUCK!
completely it won't Work..
..
Damn????
you should flash by flashtools .
Or the battery is low.. it happened to me once when flashing my gf's x8. It took a while for me to realise it. Lol. Just a suggestion, based from my experienced.

KERNEL - this you flashing using FlashToll from PC
ROM - zip file that you installing from CWM or xRecovery
Proper order (I assume that bootloader is unlocked already):
1. Make backup of apps using TitaniumBackup then xRecovery or CWM
2. copy new ROM to SD
3. turn on USB debugging
4. disconnect USB cable
5. shut down phone
6. run FlashTool and press "flash"
7. press and hold "back" button in phone and plug in USB
8. wait for flash is done ("flash complete ... disconnect ...")
9. disconnect USB
10. turn on phone and start tapping screen to enter CWM
11. using CWM menu install custom zip
12. do full wipe
13. reboot
14. wait.... it can take up to 5 mins
15. install Titanium and restore apps
If it will not run you just flash back stock kernel, then seus for stock rom, root it, install xrecovery or cwm and restore backup.

It seems that your phone is rooted already
If you want a real stable and fast custom rom go for Froyo Pro 2.2 this is the most stable and fast rom i ever tried. It comes out w/ usual GB features like real dual touch on a cypress digitizer, OC, to name a few.
Just follow the instructions and ur done..

If not use SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse to root phone once you root the phone with SuperOneClick reboot phone and busybox should be intalled
make sure you enable USB debuggin...
settings/applications/development enable usb debuggin

now that explain everything... you are probably flash rom witch is not compatible with stock kernel! if you can access xrecovery flash gingerdx v13, then you will get cwm recovery preinstalled in rom, then from cwm flash latest version of gingerdx! both version you can find here:

yeah
if you're backing up from old system and restore in a new system (ROM) you can got brick OR from new system to old system
so after flashing Kernel, you must backup first
factory reset
wipe battery stats , etc
finally flash ROM
then I think you can restore your data..
Flashtool helps when seus or pc companion does not... just select the firmware for your device and flash it. it always work.
Heres the gudie to use flsh tool.. download stock rom. Ftf file and..
