Hi. I've Xperia X8 : Rooted, downloaded rom (miniCM7 2.0.7) and all this in CWM.
I tried to install GingerDX but you know GingerDX need xRecovery not CWM so i searched to install xRecovery then I found this apk app( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128854 ) i installed it and installed xRecovery and everything ok BUT when i rebooted my phone my phone stuck in the Boot screen (Sony Ericsson) and nothing new! HELPP PLEASEthxxxx all
Umm, maybe you can try repairing with PCC or SEUS.
Can you still get to xrecovery?
If yes, you can restore a backup with it.
If not, then flash the stock ROM again with Flashtool/SEUS/PCC
And the next time you want to install GingerDx, install the Dual Mode Recovery, it´s very easy, just search for it.
mmm
Well, i wanted xRecovery, but now im scared i want to find a good tutorial on the forum but i dont know, can someone recommend me one that is good for my xperia x8
@Himalay & @codfreak thxx I softwared my phone and everything is ok.
Now I installed xRecovery again (root, busybox, root explorer and I moved all to system/bin ) but when I rebooted my phone and when I pressed the back button its stuck again in logo screen, but when I don't press the back button its start without stucks! Any help ?

Good advice, check your baseband, it must end on "015", as stated in the tutorials.
Install GingerDX only via CWM.
Do a full wipe and then install the rom, it should work.

hi try flashing froyobread v021 as this will give you cwm as gdx will only install with cwm not x-recovery when you have installed froyobread reboot you x8. when you see the sony ericsson logo tap the screen repeatedly this will take you in to cwm now you can install gdx.v019

now that explain everything... you are probably flash rom witch is not compatible with stock kernel! if you can access xrecovery flash gingerdx v13, then you will get cwm recovery preinstalled in rom, then from cwm flash latest version of gingerdx! both version you can find here:
GingerDX v13
Latest GingerDX

yeah
if you're backing up from old system and restore in a new system (ROM) you can got brick OR from new system to old system
so after flashing Kernel, you must backup first
factory reset
wipe battery stats , etc
finally flash ROM
then I think you can restore your data..
Flashtool helps when seus or pc companion does not... just select the firmware for your device and flash it. it always work.
Heres the gudie to use flsh tool.. download stock rom. Ftf file and..

I know you're problem! Some roms will disable recovery (for example: ICS for stock)
To fix this, Download X8Toolbox:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117100
You will need to have the drivers for your X8 Phone (download on sony's website)
You can install them through device manger!
Now open x8 toolbox, and install a recovery. You can choose
Good luck! after the installation your phone should be able to go to recovery!
I'm new to XDA!
Please press the "thanks" button if i helped!

I think you are confused...
Take it from the start, its not necessary that you have brick when you install custom rom with stock kernel. If you have stock kernel you will search for roms which are for stock kernel..as simple as that...if you want to install custom kernel you have to unlock bootloader which is very risky and can't be done to all x8. If you want to check it take off your battery, there will be a code on your phone( no the one on battery) if it is under 11w29 then congrats you are from the lucky one that can unlock bootloader.
*stock kernel mean the original kernel that the phone have when you buy it

for gingerdx you need cwm and not xrecovery.

Edit. I Took My backup from sdcard to My pc. returned to stock and restored it. Solved.
I've searched through XDA (manually and with search function) but can't find the answer I need, so am trying here hoping someone will help.
I was running GingerDX v29 on my X8, happily, when I was notified of an update to v030. I left it a few days and then got the notification of an update to v031b. There was two options on the screen: Download GingerDX v031b, or download GingerDX stock. I figured since I'm already using GingerDX I should be able to just download the new version rather than the stock.
So I downloaded it to my SD card, rebooted to CWM and choose to install the download. All seemed to go through fine, I got a success message, and was invite to reboot. I rebooted, and I'm now stuck with "Sony Ericsson" across my screen and nothing else. No access to CWM etc.
I guess I have two questions:
1) Can I get back to v29 or finish off the update to v031b, without having to erase everything and redo whatever it was I had to do to get v29 on there in the first place (v29 was the first ROM I installed on my handset)?
2) What should I have done when presented with the options for upgrading? (I'd kinda like to acoid the same mistake in future.)
All help gratefully received, and I'll be liberal with the Thanks button
TIA
in CWM wipe cache and dalvk cache
if phone doesnt boot flash v29 back and create backup
than flash 31b,wipe data/cache and advance restore data from backup created earlier...wipe cache again
good luck

I think I did (as part of the v029 install (or maybe it was the v030 install - I can't even remember which one of those I was on)), but I can't say for sure. I definitely didn't when I tried to update to v031b. I just ran the .zip and when I got the confirmation of success I rebooted. Haven't got passed the Sony Ericsson logo since.

What would I need to have been running in order to have used the GingerDX v31b? (Sorry - I'm still learning about stock, kernels, ROMs, Alfs, nAa etc, so don't yet understand what they all mean / do / are used for.)
Is there any way I can recover my phone without having to reinstall all my apps etc?

you have unlocked bootloader? if so then flash custom kernel and it will boot fine.
you can use adb to backup your apps or flash back the previous version and backup them.
you might have downloaded the rom that was not for stock kernel.
