I've been wondering if it's easy enough (and worth it) to remove the TTS/Faceunlock driver/libs/app, or should I just not bother at all? I'd like to remove as much "junk" as possible without making the system unstable. And if so, give me guidance if possible.

Hello chaps,
I apologize if there's a myriad of other threads covering this exact topic, I've been unable to find exactly what I need though.
This is a multi-criteria question.
First, I am sick of waiting for AT&T to get off their arses and get froyo out, so I want the most solid froyo you can give me to put on my phone. But there's a catch... I don't want to have to reinstall my apps and re-do all my contacts, settings, etc. Unless I can do it like an update and not a reinstall, I don't want to. It's just not worth the hassle for me. Finally, it has to be either rooted, or easily root-able. I'm running eclair rooted, and frankly, don't know why I didn't root sooner than I did.
So that's it. Maybe I'm smoking something, if so, let me know. The number 1 thing is that I don't want to have it erase my settings, apps, contacts, etc. that comes before all else.
Thank you very kindly, gentlemen. (and ladies, if applicable)
P.S. It's worth noting that I really only want flash player and for Skype to work. if you can fix both of those in 2.1 then that will work too. But, I would rather have all the extra bells and whistles in froyo.

Use titanium backup to back everything up
I recommend this froyo based rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900568
So I'm a Android ROM dev noobie (hell, I can't even call myself one with a straight face -- all I've figured out how to do so far is pull down all CM10.1 code I need to compile).
I want to disable the HDCodecs just like Hash used to on earlier CM builds (I'm working with Droid 3 CM10 KEXEC, whatever the most fresh pull is). If I understand things correctly, they use up SOME RAM, that I don't want to use up if I don't have to. I don't really ever have a need for them, so why have them? Plus it's a cool learning experience.
Any tips on how to essentially remove/disable them would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

plz, the search button is made for a reason.
If you are unsure about what to remove or haven't got root for instance, you can always disable apps. This will prevent them from running in the background and you can always enable them again if something gets broken.
Good Morning everyone. I have done quite a bit of searching on this topic with little or no success. I have looked for build.prop editors but have to say that the majority of the ones I find require me to have root in order to change anything. It seems like such a simple thing to do but I am at my wits end so I am reaching out for help here.
"Is there a way to change the DPI for my device without root?" please let me know if that is possible and if so how. I am running SM-900A with 4.4.4 on it and don't want to revert to 4.4.2. I am happy with the stock as I can disable all the crap I don't want running but what I cant stand is the massive DPI that wastes the awesome screen size that I have.
Thanks if you can help.
This works
I am back in love with my device. By using ADB I was able to change it and it is awesome.

It is as easy as he says.
Hey, so package disabler pro + works on the Note 9, I've tried it and disabled a few obvious apps that I don't want or need. Problem is there is sooo much junk, i just don't know what's safe to disable and what isn't in most cases......now there are XML files for disabling all the crap in bulk, only they're all for other devices, does anyone know of one that's been made for the note 9, or have the ability to make one?
I think it would be a big help to many, not just me, it's also one more reason not to need root, especially when rooting our devices is a *****, also, package disabler works on the Snapdragon versions too.
I'll play around a bit and disabled as much as possible, then post the XML if I can, if a few of us did the same, then someone could amalgamate them all into one quick and easy debloat script.
Obviously there will be apps some people want but others don't, the point will be to have an XML that will disable everything that is safe to disable, then after, you can go through and just re enable any apps you do use
Just an idea, if anyone wants to help then feel free.
Okay I've attached my list, I can in no way guarantee this won't make your phone explode haha, what I can say is that my phone seems fine with all these disabled (N960F/DS) It could potentially stop something working the way it should, but it certainly won't do anything that can't be undone with a few simple taps.
Hopefully someone gets some use from it, and even better if anyone can add to it.
This was a good thread why did you all remove it???
