Hi all,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S and am constantly flashing firmwares Now I am trying gingerbread versions and I ran into a serious bug/problem and wanted to ask here.
I cannot receive push messages unfortunately both in MIUI 2.3.4 for Galaxy S - v1.5.13 and Doc's Kitchen JHV mode in gingerbread. I have to use digital/mobile signature of my sim card in order to secure login to my bank account but the password screen as a push message never appears on my device after I click "Sign" button on the website. It was working perfectly in froyo version. I don't know the other bugs but this is a rather serious one for me.
Anyone having a similar problem in gingerbread?
Regards.
Post in the right section and then I'll help you...
Lol kidding - but on a serious note I've not heard of this issue at all it might just be MIUI related. Never had a similar problem using JVH Stock (new kernel however).
On a side-note, post in the right place next time ;-)
Thanks for quick answer, I have tried to move it but I think a mod has to do it for me
On the other hand, I also used a the Doc Kitchen's JVH which is 2.3.3 as far as I can remember and different than MIUI's 2.3.4 version and it also does not work there.
Can it be related to the website's technology?
Its almost certainly a problem their end rather than yours so I wouldn't worry too much buddy

Does it happen with everyone or just a specific contact?
Thanks,

Evry time i install i get the.same activation code is that normal? I also activated it on my old iphone 3gs i got different activation code and it worked well .
I really dont understand why.it isnt workin
When i.switched to.the galaxy.s.it worked well
Sorry for the lot of dots
Bump!! i gave all the details i will be more calm if someone just says
"it isnt workin for me neither waiting for the next update or something"
At this stage, we don't support custom ROMs with Viber (except basic ones, like CM7 and MIUI). Running Viber on a customized ROM results in various side effects, some of which are severe, but unfortunately we can't afford to support ALL those ROMs at this stage. You might want to contact the ROM developers and ask if any adaptations could be made there in order to support Viber.
FYI - many times microphone problems (like the one you're experiencing) are caused by the fact that the ROM causes the phone to "think" that it's actually a different phone, resulting in a different usage of the phone's microphone by Viber. "Model Number" in "About" page sometimes reflects this issue - so please let me know what phone you're using, which Android version, and what's written under "Model Number" in your "About" page.
To all,
We (Viber) are about to release multilangual support for Viber at last!
Since we know that XDA's great advantage is having so many members from different places in the world, we would appreciate your help with translation to your personal language. This means adding missing translated lines, and confirming the existing translations previously added by users: http://translate.viber.com
Remember - we let the community of our users shape Viber and device what it looks like
If you have any questions please let me know. We thank you in advance,
the Viber Team.
So i will sat it again as i said it in the OP!
At the moment I'm using MIUI mintberry, BUT i tried viber an multiple roms like:
-stock jvt (flashed via odin)
-stock cyanogen
-stock MIUI
-cyanogen with platypus
-stock instanity CM
-insanity with platypus
-miui mintberry with platypus
theese with xxjvk zsjpg and bvjjpg modems
at the general section it says GT-I9000
IMEI is correct its the same as the one behind the battery
so i really dont understand whats the problem
i figured out i can activate with two activation code 4758 and 4759
please help!
When you say "stock MIUI and "stock instanity CM" you're basically saying that your Android is NOT stock. The definition of Custom ROM is installing any ROM that's not the original one you got from your cellular provider.
You can try and contact our support team at http://support.viber.com - they might be able to assist you further.
I said i tried it with stock JVT thats the original stock rom from samsung with stock kernel!
We are going to do our best with investigating this issue, but it is almost impossible for us to pinpoint the source of the problem if ALL of your phone's settings were stock.
All I can offer to you is to wait for our upcoming Viber 2.1.3 and see if the problem is resolved there.
so you re saying viber 2.1.2 is supposed to be working with the GT-I9000 and something s wrong with my device so ill kepp trying you not getting any wrong experience feedback from other i9000 users
On the contrary - Viber fully supports GT-I900, as written in our official website: http://helpme.viber.com/index.php?/.../View/100/0/cant-download-from-android-market
same problem as the OP here... any news about it?
I'm on Teamhacksung's ICS alpha 17 with semaphore kernel.
Hi,
If I understand correctly, you are using Galaxy S i9000 with a CM9 Custom ROM. Is that correct?

Correct.
If as "custom" you mean anything other than stock.
Have you tested Viber on Stock ROM on your phone? Does the problem persist even then?
Ok.. I've seen posts cautioning anyone against trying to install ICS on N7000.. supposedly there is some issue with Samsung's ICS which could brick the device. I've seen warnings saying that even if someone has flashed the OFFICIAL German or Taiwanese ICS, they should flash back to GB immediately.
So.. what gives? Should we wait for a third ICS before upgrading..? Are these warnings genuine?
Yes its safer to wait for either a solution from the devs or samsung.
I see you are using Liquid Smooth ICS V1.. was that safe to flash? This whole ICS stuff is becoming very confusing. I actually switched from my I9100G to N7000 JUST for ICS, and seems like will have to wait even more! lol
Yes, very confusing.
And where is samsung by now?? They got our money with the device and again with the reparations!
Last samsung device for me.
Ys im using LiquidSmooth ICS Rom, But i had installed this rom before the BRICK BUG came into picture. I am stuck on this rom for now but i have no complaints as its running beautifully without any problems... i'm waiting for a fix and not using the CWM at all.
LP1/5/6 repack
LPY
LPF
all of the above have the bug.
Try using CM9 as it uses a different kernel. And go through thread before installing.
ICS running beautifully on SGnote but this brick bug is just ruining the party.
Ok CM9.. I see that there are many things which don't run well on CM9.. speaker phone etc.. any comments?
Waited too long for a official ics jow waiting again for fixed ics. .
I cant believe samsung made a mess but still i dont see a better android platform then samsung for a year or 2 atleast. .

hello, i've updated my SGN using the german rom, and till the moment i've not encountered any bug, only that the phone is bit slower...
is it recomended that i return to stock gingerbread??
Better stay in GB & wait for stable official/stock ICS. I flash LPY German & CF Root...my Gnote have issue with bluetooth (keep disconnect/fail when sending file) & date/time keep changing itself after reboot...weird!

if ICS works well it is better not to try , don`t flash anything don`t use cwm and everything should by fine, wait for next release of ICS or fix.
but really it is your decision (the risk used ics but also the risk of a brick note when you try back to GB)
J_Kirk better to wait for a stable ICS.
Thanks netoperek.. I've reached the same conclusion myself.

@ the moment is working fine with no bugs @ all..
wi-fi works fine, with no DC, Bluet.. also, text messeging, calls, games, facial unlock, etc
the only thing i think is a bit slower is the phone it self. for example is not as smother as before when playing for example the fruit ninja.
when i get home will do downgrade again and w8 for next release
I'm having some troubles with signal reception on my jb. I'm running Liquid JB 2.0-RC1 with asylum beastmode kernel and xxlb2 radio. Every time I receive or send text message I'm loosing reception. Reboot doesn't help and usually I have to wipe everything and flash it again. Everything seems to be working fine I can make and receive calls, browse internet but no messages... can someone help me please? I'm really tired of constant reflashing. I already tried around 6 radios. I'm on Austria T-Mobile.
Anyone please?
try logcat, you may have found a bug maybe someone can analyze it for you
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Well this seems to be a little bit too complicated... Not sure how to use it.
Well, no need for Logcat.. go back to downgrade GB and check back your signal when sending SMS.. if everything's fine.. then flash back that custom ROM again.. if your still getting that issue.. then it's a ROM related thing..
nothing is too complicated on that... right?
I did that already. I have installed CleaNote 6 (Its Ics) and every thing works fine. Nigthly, Asylum, LiquidSmooth, CM10 It happens on all JB roms. GB and ICS wprks fine.

perhaps its something to do with AOKP nightlies that causing this issue.. you can raise also your concern to each respective JB nightlies on this forum, I'm sure someone has some answers on your issue . (Since this just happens when your on an JB and not on any ICS or GB Roms)
yeah best to check up on jb thread. See if someone hasbposted before. If not, use something like elixer2 to grab logcat and post it here. Use something like pastebin hosting so you dont get flamed.
Like I said someone else may be able to analyze it for you.

Well it happens on all JB versions. 4.1.1 or 4.1.4. Already tried nightly, asylum, paranoid, liquidSmooth and one more the name i cant remember. Also tried mixing kernels and radios but no success so far. I tried to send sms woth different app and still nothing. Turned out i only cam recive sms but camt send them.
It's definitely some sort of a bug on AOKP rom. Take a look also on this guy's issue (I guess his issue was pretty much the same as yours) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789241

Thanks, it's a same issue. As soon as i deleted that message signal came back. Sending still doesnt work but maybe it will be easier to figure it out.
This is wierd. On CleaNote wich is 4.0.4 everything works fine but on Paranoid 5 wich is also 4.0.4 with Tablet UI i get that error...
Paranoid 5 is based on latest CM9 nightlies if I'm not mistaken, CLeaNote is based on Stock TW ICS only.. that alone you can figure why your getting that issue on PA5 and not on pure stock based ICS custom ones.
A friend has the same problem with the same configuration...
It has something todo with the combination N7000 + T-Mobile Austria + PA.
But he gave up with trying and stays on a Stock-Rom.
Is your Note unlocked? Did you have tried a other SIM? Only to check if it's related to the provider...
I also had the issue. It is because somehow the system looses the SMSC number. I downloaded GO SMS and entered my carriers SMSC number manually under Settings/Send Settings/Customized SMSC number.
Working now.
Try update the SMSC by dialing *#*#4636*#*#

That's it. Thanks a lot man. I don't know how this happend but for once stock app did send my msg without any problems. What I did was right after first boot I go into smsc settings, hit refresh and then update. Thing is that worked just for once. I tried doing this again after re-flash but didn't work. Also I did this after reflashing from 4.0.4 but I dont think that it has anything to do with this. Anyway trick with GO SMS works and I thank you once again.
hi peeps , i would really appreciate it if somebody can help me navigate through the waters with my Android Samsung Galaxy Note ..i've got a couple of questions that i need answers to , umm , here they are :
1. when one roots his phone , given that he has a stock Samsung Ice Cream Sandwhich OS , does he have to do " something " first before he upgrades to a stock Samsung OS again in the future ... i mean wouldn't it brick his phone when he tries to upgrade via OTA just because his phone is rooted ?
2. when one roots his phone long AFTER he has already upgraded his OS to a stock Samsung ICS ... will he lose his SMS , Contacts , apps , Bookmarks , Calendar , etc AFTER rooting his phone ? ...
3. to follow , does rooting one's phone have an impact on apps installed on the phone .. i mean would an app suddenly not work because of the rooting done ?
4. are there stock Samsung Ice Cream Sandwhich 4.0.4 for Galaxy Note that doesn't have the pop up play feature ?
5. what is the difference between these terms ( which can be found under the " About Phone " Settings : Baseband Version , Kernel Version , Build Number ... umm .. which is more important when it comes to identifying the type of update that you have ( umm , i mean whether the update that you have is one that is intended for Europe , Asia Pacific , etc )
okay , that 's it ... hope that you guys can shed some info on these ... thank you very much for your time and have a great day ahead . cheers

1. Once rooted, the likelihood of being able to upgrade via ota or Kies is slim. The update would probably fail and can lead to brick symptoms if on dangerous kernel. It's much safer to upgrade/reflash using pc odin imho.
2. Rooting does not require a factory reset or data reset. You won't affect your installed apps and data.
3. Rooting has no impact on installed apps. Just offers administrator privileges so you can access and write/delete more.
4. AFAIK, it's only lrq and lrt that have pop up play.
5. Baseband version = modem which governs the data connections and call functions
Kernel version = kernel which is the kernel, search for Linux kernel on Wikipedia if you want a breakdown.
Build number = rom version which is the firmware or operating system version.
People mainly refer to kernel versions, such as lrq (ics) or kka (gingerbread). There are three letters preceding the kernel version such as xeu (open europe) or Dbt (germany). This is called the csc which stands for country sales code. Some such as open europe will have multiple csc' s contained within and once flashed you can change csc to whichever you require.
Have a look at Dr ketans thread in the stickies of Android development with all stock roms, look through them all and you'll start to get a feel for what I mean.
Hope this makes sense

Android Newbie Here , Need Help with my Galaxy Note
oh , thanks for the reply sir ... just a follow up though ...
1. so there are stock roms that indeed doesn't have the pop up play feature , is that correct ... umm , then why is it that Samsung advertises the 4.0.4 as having a pop up play feature ? ... just don't understand why Samsung would advertise it as such ..
2. at least now i already get that people refer to the kernel version when they say lrq , hehe ... such a newbie i know
3. sir , if i were to backup my SMS's on my Galaxy Note using SMS Backup and Restore .. in the future when i buy a Samsung Galaxy S3 ... can i use the SMS Backup and Restore app and restore the SMS's from the Galaxy Note to the Galaxy S3 ... is that possible or restoring is just limited to the phone which you originally made the SMS's with , so in this case , restore only on Galaxy Note ..
4. can you kindly share me a list of apps that you use for backing up data ( SMS , Contacts , Browser Bookmarks , Calendar ) ... especially Bookmarks and Calendar because as of now .. i still don't have apps to back those two up
5. sir , am i right when i say that rooting is different from flashing a safe kernel on your phone .. which means that umm, sure you can have a phone that is rooted but still don't have a safe kernel when you are on the stock ICS 4.0.4 for Galaxy Note ..
6. if i change to a safe kernel ( because now , i still am on the stock ICS 4.0.4 Galaxy Note ) , will i lose my SMS's , Contacts , apps , etc. ?
7. if i don't factory reset while still on the stock kernel on the ICS 4.0.4 ... are there still circumstances wherein the emmc bug will brick my Galaxy Note ? .. or is it safe to say that as long as i don't Factory Reset , i am okay even though i don't plan to change the stock kernel anymore
that's it , thank you very very much for your time sir and thank you also for your previous response .. really really appreciate it . more power ..
have a great ahead !

1. samsung never advertised the popup play during initial launch of note. It was put since the update.
2. lr9 could also refer to the rom build like ddlr9
3. yes, sms backup and restore can do that for u
4. best when rooted is titanium backup. unrooted apps I guess u need to search on playstore
5. yes, but the new kernels like hydracore and philz give u root automatically when flashed.
6. nothing happens when u change the kernel
7. yes, sometimes moving huge data in / out of the internal storage can also result in a brick. tho its not kernel related. for now if u don't do a reset of any kind u safe.
