[Q] Cant boot into recovery - LG Revolution

Used MT's vz7 to vz8 ....I have root on vz8 but cannot get into recovery. Every time I try I get a black screen and have to a battery pull to get phone back. I tried recovery through rom manager, manual with the power and volume, nothing but a frozen phone. Was running gingervolt vz7...... Now I'm stuck.

ROM manager does not work with the Revo. Use MTs all in one to get into recovery.

quick
Tried quick root.......phone reboots......LG flashed on screen....then black......battery pull......I'm a noob but I learn......usually the hard way...lol

Do you know how to use lgpnst? Or do a hard factory reset. The info is on the forum, but if it wont boot you either have to flash a .tot or hard reset prolly both, then start over get back to rooted zv8 and use Mt's AIO or push through adb if that does not work.
***edit**
Here's what you need;
step 1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337386
step 2 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583023
Then if Aio Zv8 dosent work
Step 3 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605148
Read instruction carefully and follow them to the letter and you should be fine.
Also to get out of that boot loop you can do a hard factory reset by pulling and replacing the batt then pushing power and volume down with the phone off. Or flashing a .tot
any questions, i am willing to help as i am relatively new to this myself but search the forums first the answers are there.

[Q] Tried to downgrade to recovery2e, now stuck at galaxy s logo

Dear All,
Have tried searching for a solution to my problem, was unable to find one - apologies if this has already been answered somewhere.
My Galaxy S has never been able to use the 3 button recovery/download, so when I wanted to install a custom ROM, thought it would be a good idea to fix that
First I went to RazvanG's thread here , and realised I needed to sort some other issues first, namely to root and downgrade my recovery file from 3e to 2e.
These are the steps i followed:
1. Rooted using z4Root
2. Installed Busybox
3. Followed steps in reschi85's thread here
4. Rebooted
All seemed fine when I rebooted, phone started fine.
However, when I then went to the next step of RazvanG's, namely to boot into recovery, the phone has hung on the Galaxy S logo screen, and will not budge.
Have tried using adb to reboot into download/recovery mode, no change. cannot get the phone to start now, and since I hadn't managed to get the fix applied, my 3 button fix will not work.
Please help!
Thanks in advance,
Sun
Petr0v has an excellent topic on getting 3 button recovery working. I used the odin method and it takes 5 minutes in all. You actally have to get download mode working first before anything as its very important. Once done you could have flashed cf root using odin and would have had 2e.
If taking out the battery for a few minutes doesn't work your only option will be to force it into download mode using the jig then flashing a fresh firmware with odin. There are topics on here on making your own homemade jig. I've also seen them selling on ebay here in Australia for $20usd. Good luck.
Edit: TheBeano has a topic on how to make you own jig.

[Q] Help to go back to stock, strange situation!!

Hello i will write the whole history...First of all i am newbie so,sorry for my mistakes,i will try to explain the best i can!
Yesterday my brother gave me his old Droid/Milestone phone..He had rooted it with CM7(Froyo version). I wanted to Hard reset and return it to stock so that i would make it as i wanted, just like i had a new phone..
First of all,my brother tried to make a backup from the loader but it stuck at "dumping..." step,so i removed the battery,i think that is the biggest mistake..?
After that i did the X+Power button way to make the hard reset from the menu it shows up if i press volume up+camera button. So i did this and it came up with the setup wizard,i make all the prefences and at the last step after the time and date it pops me up with a message that process com.android.setupwizard stopped unexpectedly and i have to force close it.After that the only thing i see in the screen is just a black screen and the bar on the top with time, date, battery level, and the thing i can do is receive and make calls!there is no menu at all!!!
If i try to reboot the phone it doesn't start at all,it stucks at CM7 logo and it won't procceed! the only way to go back to the black screen i told earlier is to make the steps above(hard reset->setup wizard->wizard error message->black screen and only phone calls)
The Model is A853
Can anyone help me ? i am freaking out :/ :/
PS.Sorry for the long post but i tried to explain everything!
Two options. Either flash a sbf using rsdlite. Or if you can get into openrecovery, flash the cm7 update zip again. Remember to wipe all and set ro.config.setupwizard to DISABLED in build.prop before flashing.

I agree with the above, but since you want a stock phone, flashing with RSD is simpler than fixing a CM7 (actually probably CM6, you mentioned Froyo....CM7 is Gingerbread).
1) Download RSD lite (search the forum)
2) find the right SBF file for your network/phone (this is the file you put into RSDlite to "flash" the phone back to stock (search the forum again...there are repositories)

[Q] Recovering a 1900 from a Bricked state?

So this morning I decided to take the plunge and attempt to root my phone.
I had a 19000 running gingerbread(2.3.3) and I found the following website to follow:
Code:
android.dkszone.net/root-samsung-galaxy-s-android-2.3.3-gingerbread-i9000-xxjvk-rom
After downloading odin, and following precisely the first steps to work with the first tar file, Odin returned that the operation had failed, and now my phone is only showing the phone ! pc image.
Is there any way to go back, and recover my phone or is it well and truely gone?
I have been unable to reboot it into recovery mode, if that helps..
Download-Mode is possible?
Look here:

enter download mode and reflash rom. it looks like a softbrick.
Your going to have to forgive my noobishness(nah thats never going to be a word )
But Spyder when you sat reflash the rom, do you mean to follow the steps from the original link again?
Or do you mean something else?
sorry no, the link you provided was for a rooting through kernel flash. what you need is to flash a rom for your phone to function (recover from brick). this would delete all data in your phone.
you can use this tutorial http://www.hdtechvideo.com/stock-roms/how-to-flash-xxjvu-in-galaxy-i9000/
To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .
Just downloading the required files now...
Hopefully this works.. cant afford a new phone at the moment..
Don't worry. It is impossible to brick an sgs. See unbrickable mod for details.
You can now sleep safely.

[Q] Need Help Real Quick! Stuck.. Hope not bricked

Im stuck on the LG Boot Screen. I have tried the hard reset option, it takes me through the motions of asking me if I want to erase everything and then I confirm and it tells me its confirmed, but it still ends up stuck on the LG screen.
Any ideas on this? I need help!
Sounds like your phone is bricked. The fix is gonna a multi-process ordeal.
1. go here and get all the tools and the v8.tot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337386
*Follow instructions to the letter*
2. start the lg software, remove your batt from phone, connect phone to pc. Follow instructions on how to flash the tot from previous link.
3. After tot is flashed, phone will be in test mode. Go here to get the test mode fix tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626198
*after final reboot of phone, check to see if you have usb icons in notification bar. If so, time to root *
4. Root and install cwm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630821
--I.M.famous
Thanks! I appreciate it.
One questions, can you explain this step? where do I extract this from?
This is all new for me.. I just got the Revolution, I had a Droid X that I could play with my eyes closed.. root and all.. the process for the LG is a bit confusing!
Thanks for all your help!
5. Extract the "LGNPST Store & Lab"
nevermind that last post.. I think I just answered my own question.

[Q] Samsung Captivate HELP PLEASe

So let me summarize what i have done so far. I have a samsung captivate. THe power button has stopped functioning and am out of warranty and stuff. Last week I thought I would root my phone and flash a Rom. But unfortunately I needed the power button to navigate through the recovery menu. So I looked at a lot of forums for ways around it, but nothing worked. I tried cwm too but that dint work either. Eventually I reset my phones to factory setting and formatted everything. But sadly, not my phone keeps restarting every 5 seconds or so unless its plugged in a charger. I tried resetting multiple times and tried looking online for solutions, but nothing seems to work. Any help would be highly appreciated it. And on a side note, will it be possible to flash a custom Rom with my power button not working?
Thanks a lot in advance

Buy or make yourself a jig - that will get you into download mode, and you can flash a kernel with CWM baked in. You can get to recovery mode via ADB if you need to (command is ADB REBOOT RECOVERY), and once you're there, quite a few of the versions of CWM will allow up/down with the menu/home keys and selection with the search key.
As for your power button, if you haven't tried cleaning it, look around the forum - there are some options for trying to get it cleaned and working that way first. If that doesn't do it, the member connexion2005 (Josh at mobiletechvideos.com) offers a power button replacement service (as far as I know) for a nominal fee.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I think I will just get a jig, its much easier. So if I get the phone in download mode, I can flash any Rom I want?
Uhhh nope...
See the Stock Master Collection Stickied Thread in the Dev Forum.---Here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18370235
Post 3 in that thread has the latest stock release officially for the captivate. GB 2.3.5 i897ucKK4
After u have Stock (whatever u choose), u can follow TRusselo's Guide that is a Stickied Thread in this Q & A forum. Here---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19425513&postcount=1

If you are in a boot loop and want to get to download mode try this:
Code:
adb wait-for-device reboot download
NOTE: You must have ADB on your computer or you can extract it from the utility in my signature.

I had one more quick question. I finally figured out how to use adb. So when i try to go into the bootloader using adb bootloader. My phone just restarts. Also when i tried going into adb shell it said system/bin/sh not found. So i went into my root explrorer and checked out system/bin. The sh and bootloader files were not there. I am not sure if they are supposed to be there or not. If they are missing. How do I get them back?
Here is what i was doing
adb reboot bootloader - phone restarts
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img to flash a custom recovery-the cmd promt jus says waiting for device and doesnt do anything
PS: Is there any way to control the recovery menu using adb/cmd promt?
Thanks a lot guys for helping me out. I really appreciate it.
Thanks
Sounds like you killed your system partition with the reformat. Try putting it into download mode and then using a one-click Odin package to flash your phone back to life. You're going to have an issue with flashing things through CWM without a power button.

Thank you so much for your help. I was finally able to flash my phone back to stock Froyo. I realized that I can put my phone
in download mode and flash a rom using odin. My last question is that is there a rom for ICS that I can flash using odin.
I tried googling and searching xda for "flash ics captivate odin" but could not find anything. So do u guys know any Rom that I can flash using odin. All the ones that i found were zip files which does not work for odin.
