[Q] <Help Needed> USB port broken and now phone is bricked!! - HTC Incredible S

Hi,
I had Nik 4.5 Custom ROM on my phone and recently I my USB port stopped functioning. To revert to S-on and claim warranty, I tried to revert to stock ROM and flashed Froyo ROM (as that was the only Indian ROM available for download on the forum). I think I made the mistake of downgrading the radio and now my phone is bricked. Any suggestions to make it work again? If I take it to HTC service centre will my they be able to detect any s-off mischief that I committed and can they fix the phone and the USB port?
Thanks in advance.
Sidd

I downloaded the ROM PG32IMG_Vivo_hTC_Asia_India_1.36.720.1_Radio_Radio_20.23.30.0802U_38.02.01.11_M_release_172022_signed.zip from Goo Manager website:

I followed the following steps:
1. I downloaded the ROM
2. Renamed it as PG32IMG.zip and placed it in the Root of the SD Card
3. Switched off the phone and took out SD card and then put it back again
4. Rebooted the phone in fastboot and updated the zip file. The update was completed successfully.
5. Followed the on screen instruction and rebooted the phone.
As this point the phone was not powering on. I double checked if the battery wasn't charged. I also used my charged spare battery (I use it since, my phone doesnt charge from USB port).
I assume the phone is bricked now... Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, what you flashed was an old Froyo based RUU. If you had been running Gingerbread then you had a Gingerbread radio and that radio cannot be downgraded back to Froyo. By running this RUU you have radio bricked your phone.

try if u can boot into the bootloader by poweron and volume down button even if that is not possible then sorry bro i guess then we cant help u..

I don't know any other purpose for the service centre, but yes... they do fix phones.

The service centre fixed my bricked phone free of charge! They replaced the PCB and some other hardware which they did not disclose. Of course I had to escalate the matter to HTC escalation department and they were really
Kind in getting it fixed although it was out of warranty. I love HTC!

Have you tried to get into bootloader mode and is the phone visible in device manager?
Yup you are bricked check your device manager. We already have a thread on this.
Yeah device manager shows nothing. Wow ... That's crazy I've been doing this for years, is not like it was a file that I hadn't used before.

long press the power button for about 20 seconds. after about 3-4 seconds, press volume down as well. this should reboot your device into the bootloader. try it.

Hi Guyz!
Hope you are all well. I have an xperia z as mentioned i am getting an issue of shutting down the phone automatically after some time. The problem is started when i restored my old backup which included the trim area backup around 2mb. After that restore, my phone is of no use because the condition it is keeping shutdown itself. i have tried to manually install the ftf software through flashtool but in vain. Is there anyone who can help me and tell me how can i repair this phone myself
let it charge up before trying again from flashtools as you need a good charge in it to complete the flash .

Please Help ! phone switches off randomly..

Help me guys please.
My Htc one m8 switches off automatically but if i use it while charging then phone doesn't switch off . My battery does show charge and I am able to charge it.
Here's a little background:
I had s-off and unlocked bootloader on my htc m8 (non-hk) running kitkat rom and it was rooted. So in order to update it to marshmallow ,i had flashed the MM Rom everything was fine, then there was a handsfree activation loop so as to remove it I had followed this guide and before deleting the contents of carrier folder,I had made a backup of the carrier in the sdcard (but later found out it was missing). :crying: :crying:
On reboot it showed me some error about wifi calling and I saw that wifi calling option and roaming options were missing. And whenever I clicked on any app,it would switch off but while charging it doesn't.
Also when I insert my sim card ,it will just switch off regardless of whether I'm charging or not.
I guess my battery works fine as I am able to charge it and while on the bootloader it doesn't switch off. I have tried flashing back to stock, flashing a custom rom but nothing works. I dont have a nandroid backup(my mistake) and I have also searched around but the links don't work
So guys please help me if there is a way to fix this . And is it possible to make my root directory back to stock ??

Yes that guide is the one. If u want to upgrade to marshmallow thn just flash the marshmallow firmware first then flash the ruu. And as u have supercid so u can flash either the hk or non hk ruu ...it should be so simple and u can do it just only your phone. No need of a pc or writing commands in adb and all

Yup bro I did flash the MM firmware first and then the RUU and the flash was done successfully. But things went wrong when I had deleted the contents of the carrier folder (which is located in the root directory) & after that i rebooted my phone.
It showed something about the wifi calling (and later i found that my wifi calling option was no more present) and when i clicked on any app my phone switched off.
Now I am back on stock rom but still the problem persists :crying:
Does flashing firmware or ruu resets the root directory ??

I tried flashing the stock firmware(1.54.651.10) and ruu again but tethering and roaming options are missing. My phone is able to detect the sim card and wifi works fine.
When charger is not connected it boots till the HTC logo and then dies but when I connect the charger it boots normally.
If after the boot i disconnect the charger then the phone stays and doesnot turnoff. But if after that i click an app, it opens it and then shuts down immediately. (No rapid drop in Battery level after reboot).
In short, the shut down problem is still there.
In the meanwhile I performed an OTA update to 2.16.651.4 which added a wifi calling app ( in attachments) I tried clicking it but does nothing.

Bro,my tethering options were hidden, so there were no tethering options. I found the solution here. But wifi tethering doesn't work(its greyed out).
And I get an option "activate this device" in settings, can you say me how to remove it??(I dont have a sprint sim and I had it sim unlocked)
The screen flickers sometimes,I guess that could be the reason for automatic shutdowns.
(loose connections may be )

Yes u can remove that easily. If u have already rooted then just download an app which can uninstall pre installed apps and then all u have to do is uninstall the crappy sprint apps. If u are not rooted http://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-remove-bloatware-from-your-android-device-xda-tv/ this link. Just connect to a pc and download the bloatware hiding app .connect the phone in usb debugging mode and disable all the sprint apps u find in the list. That activate device will disappear

Even to me it happened a similar thing, charging press the power button for 2 minutes (maybe it's a battery problem)

Yeah, something similar happened to me. If you try and search hard enough with the 2 minute thing it should work. Good luck

Most probably it's battery is a faulty one. Try replacing it. Exactly same thing happened with my friend's Yu Yureka, and replacing the battery fixed it.
