GummyNex on Bionic - Motorola Droid Bionic

I have just a few questions before I try flashing this new rom. Any feedback from people who have used it? Are there compatibility issues with apps?
Sent from my Droid Bionic, Rooted, Eclipse 2.2 using Tapatalk 2

It works GREAT.
Just one thing to note: Because Moto has not released a version of ICS with a kernel update, the ICS on Bionic for now must be adapted to use the GB kernel. So hardware acceleration, or the GPU performance, is not working to it's full capacity yet. This means that super intense games may freeze the phone after a few minutes. And the Video camera does not work. But regular camera and lite games and just about everything else is great.
OH! And the HDMI does not work on any of the ICS roms, until MOTO updates kernel.

Awesome ROM, but unfortunately I use video recording quite a bit, so it was a deal breaker for me. That plus video playback was HORRIBLE! Hopefully we get official ICS soon, cuz it's pretty awesome.
Eclipse is a good daily driver. Everything works,it's fast and there aren't many bugs. Sadly, last I heard, I Nitro was done with the Bionic though.

best rom for droid 1

I am curious what the best rom yall suggest is for the droid 1..
i have heard bugless beast is pretty good... any other suggestions
Try miui with a slayer kernal... you can find the download for the rom at code.google.com/p/d1-miui

I've been looking for one myself and simplerom has been the smoothest and most problem free one I have checked out in past 3 days.
Ultimate Droid 1.0.0 is by far the smoothest and quickest ROM that I've run.

Huge fan of Cyanogen 6.0... just switched to the latest nightly and it's even better. That's just my .02
My buddy wants some help rooting and wants better battery life, any suggestions? (Im on an evo so im unfamiliar with droid roms)

I like Cyanogen nightlies. They're fast and work. Not sure if there is a big difference in battery life. I just rooted a couple weeks ago and keep trying different ROMs, Kernels, Themes, settings combination, which tends to keep me charging.
Id definitly have to say UD 1.0.0 or MIUI for droid. UD for speed, smoothness, stability, and themes. And MIUI for speed and just plain aesthetic appearance

I just can't give up the features and customization. I've just loaded nightly build 160 and the new features in it rule. There are a couple of bugs, but that's because it's not in its stable release yet.
As far as themes - I make my own and just Morph them in. It's never a big deal and they work with any version of CM because I'm only changing PNGs. All of the conflicting text colors can be modified within CM Settings.
Android: it's whatever you want it to be.
ShadowRom v.0.2.1 P3 of 1ghz Kernel. Fast as you need it smooth as can be and battery life is amazing! Smoked glass theme is a nice touch on top of it all.
cant go wrong with liquid frozen yogurt 1.71 frg83 2.2.1 froyo... fast and reliable.
i have bugless beast now
i am trying to get cyngnamod but its not liking me... it wont download
id go with ud 1.0.0. for battery life. simplystunning 4.9 for rediculous speed. i used chevyno1 1.1ghz kernel for both roms
Shadowrom v0.2.2 best battery life and I have tried all roms sorry but IMO shadow rom tops them all with battery life and settings. Only down side to shadow rom only kernels you can flash are p3's but it fast and very stable

With this, I am running 1.1 GHz with a promise to go higher using chevy1s kernels. It has bloatware removed and I ran a 1400 on my benchmark today. It is excellent on battery life, I use it from 6am to about 10pm, with texting all day and music playing for 3 hours of the day, and mild browsing of internet.
Just try it, its magical! *-*

Interesting Read About ICS

Here is an interesting article about Ice Cream Sandwich and the OMAP processors. It appears that we may be one of the first devices to receive ICS if the source is correct. Would be nice.
http://www.androidcentral.com/notio...mpaign=Feed:+androidcentral+(Android+Central)
Hmmm...if that source is right maybe we'll be jumping from Froyo straight to ICS?

Skipping GB and going straight to ICS would be nice, but I think LG is gonna ruin it with their crappy UI.
It should also be noted that the Nexus Prime is rumored to have a OMAP4460 in contrast to our OMAP4430. According to this, the main difference is the 4460 runs at 1.5 GHz, and supports 1080p Stereoscopic 3D and 12 MP stereo (dual cameras).

That's where the CM team comes in. Can you say Cyanogenmod 8? ill just be happy when kernel.org comes back up so that we can possibly atleast get CM7 developed for the Thrill.

Thats right, CM7 is already in development for the O3D. A port (if needed) probably wouldn't difficult at all.

[Q] Recommended ROMs/Kernels

Very n00bish question here, but I'm having trouble finding an updated source of comprehensive information. I accidentally smashed the screen on my Fascinate, so I have to fall back to using my Verizon OG Droid.
It was running old software, of course, so I flashed the newest CM7 nightly (update-cm-7-20120226-NIGHTLY-sholes-signed.zip). Also updated the baseband to the newest I could find (C_01.43.01P).
What is the newest or recommended ROMs/kernels these days? If there is an updated thread that lists them, that would be just as good.
Thanks!
I've been happy with Droid Concepts (Final Build 13). It's froyo based with plenty of options.
I have been very happy with Pete's Bugless Beast GPA 19 running ChevyNo1 uLow voltage kernel 1.0 Ghz. It's a stock Gingerbread based ROM that is very stable and great battery life.

I am using the cm9 now. It is stable enough for daily light usage. There is some lag when opening and closing apps due to lack of ram. Android automatically closes background tasks when shortage of ram and reopens again when foreground app is closed. Even Camera is working now but still laggy. Launcher performs buttery smooth after all icons are loaded. Try this rom.

Very nice info! I've been running Steel Droid 10 for the past few days with the included ChevyNo1 low voltage 1ghz kernel. It's nice looking, and runs pretty good. Not buttery smooth like the froyo cyanogenmod ROM's I used to run back in the day, but it's alright. I get about 18 hrs of battery life.
As tempting as the ICS rom sounds, I don't know if it could compare to ICS on the Fascinate. I was running AOKP, and it was a thing of beauty.
I've been thinking about rolling back to a froyo based ROM, but I haven't yet. Decisions, decisions.

I'm on SD10 also, it's really nice, I'm getting great battery life and performance. It's smoother than most GB based roms I have used.
ICS is actually very smooth on the D1 it's just very...unusuable for daily use. It's getting there very slowly.
Going back to froyo would be so hard every time I try I always end up back on GB because it has fancy things I find hard to live without anymore. DC13 is very very stable and fast though if you do go back
I have to give huge props to Pete Alphonso. I used my OG Droid as much as I could and pushed it to the limits every single day for over two years. I've installed probably 20 different roms and out of all of them the one that stands out was GPA19. I was able to overclock to 1300mhz stable. No other rom would allow me to run past 1100mhz.
It's clean, simple. Doesn't have any bloat or unwanted extras. I can't say enough about how great the GPA/BB ROMS have been. Pete is the master of the OG Droid
Best Rom??
Hi
Personally I think that FroYoMOD is the best or Steel Droid
i have tried CM7, Liquid Smooth, ChevyNo1's Simply Stunning, MIUI, and Steel Droid. i just recently gave up on CM7 after a year or so because it just became too buggy. IMO, Steel Droid (currently v10) is the best in terms of stability, features, and battery life. Liquid Smooth is a close second, although not as stable and feature packed. MIUI is very stable and quick if you want something simple, though, it just doesn't have the features that the others do. SS was always snappy, i just got terrible battery life no matter which kernel i used.

I need a hell of performance. And your help.

I need some advice:
I used Ramhack for a quiet long time now. The negative point of loosing performance for 3D-Applications (Games, Benchmarks..) is comprehensible and in my honest opinion totally acceptable. Next to the Optimus Speed I have a Dell Streak 7, where gaming overall is less complicated and I gain much more performance with this tablet (how ever..). So, you can see, is the p-990 aimed for my everyday use. Every day use means smooth, quick response, less random reboots for me. I need every freakin second my tools need to boot up, close applications, etc...
I want to do quick calls without a tip on the Task-Killer-widged before.
Currently I'm on Nova HD ICS. I really enjoy it, so I would prefer to stay on this rom.
So my big question:
Is there a way to get Ramhack on the Domination rom? Or maybe do you guys have other options for me?
I love this rom, so I really want to stay. But I need a hell of performance. Gaming is well placed on my tablet, so we dont need to take any consideration about it. Even if I need to type 3 freakin pages of code into the terminal. It's ok. I need speed and smooth response...
Thanks in advance!
You say that you love the ICS rom you're using, but assumes that it doesn't have the performance you need, right?
So, basically, your question is : " is there a way to make CM9 as faster as CM7?" The answer: no.
ICS has, by nature, a heavy hardware resources demand. I've tested a couple of CM9 roms out there and they're all fast at first sight, but the multitasking feature isnt performing right. Because our device has only 512mb of ram. So, that means you won't be able to alternate between 3~4 apps instantly, just because the ICS itself already uses a big part of your ram. You can try the V6 Supercharger for ICS script, but I do not believe it will magically turn your cm9 into a cm7.
Unless nvidia/lg release the hwa drivers for ICS, if you want a rock solid and ultra fast device you should use CM7. I recommend Temasek's unofficial builds, they're just awesome.
Cheers

You could just flash a new kernel. There are some CM9 kernels that offer the ramhack option. Cool.guy is right though. CM9 is slower than CM7 because of the missing hardware acceleration etc. Just use Temasek's latest CM7 build. Fastest ROM I've ever used!

O2X + ICS + lag ?

So... I've now given my HTC EVO 3D to my wife as a gift (not wrapped lol.. I just said she could have it so she has a nice phone)... and I've gone back to her old phone which is a Sony Vivaz. Now the only reason I got shot of the O2X in the first place was due to it lagging after even half a day, and the EVO 3D had 1GB of RAM and it doesn't lag at all. so.... basically.. now there is a stock LG ICS version (I assume there is looking at other threads?) has this resolved the lag? When I say lag, I mean it not even being able to play video's smoothly, and games nose diving in performance etc.
If this is the case... I'll probably be on the look-out for another O2X as I enjoyed having a nice bright screen and an HDMI port

Prior to ICS the custom rom's/kernel's lagged badly as well.. like they were out of memory.... are you 100% they don't lag? i.e. you don't have to reset your phone daily just to watch a movie or play a 3D game?
well take into account that the device only has 348mb ram? So It's a bit memory hungry but ICS performance overall is quite nice

The stock fettled rom always worked best for me. I tried stock kernel and stefans kernel and some others but it didn't make any difference to the lag that happened after a random amount of time (within a day). The phone itself would be fine, just video and game performance sucked after a while. To be clear.. on a fresh restart/boot of the phone the performance was EXCELLENT... just it degraded after a relatively short time, and was the deciding factor for selling it. If this has been resolved with ICS I would REALLLLLY like to know.

I did take that into account. I found the best experience was with the fettled stock italian rom last year before ICS was released, but the phone always suffered with slow down, even within an hour of turning it on if I did something intensive like play a game or watch a video. It took half a day to a day to slow down if not doing anything intensive. It was REALLLLLY aggravating.
I do realise it has limited memory, but given it wasn't running ICS it really should have performed better for longer as such. If Tegra 2 needed more memory to continue running that that's what it should have had. It's an amazing phone (for the money) otherwise I thought.
If people who use there phone for video playback and say... playing a tegra 2 game like dungeon defenders could come in and comment on if performance degrades to getting REALLY bad frame rates after a while, I would really appreciate it. If you can go for a month or something playing games and watching video's without an issue, I REALLY like to hear about it.
@Scougar,
I'm very sorry for you.
I bought 2x on oct 2011, not for playing games as first goal, I have been happy with 20S (removing some unused system apps) for many months and now I am with 30B.

dont know how anyone can say that cm10 is smooth for example (havent tried stock ics yet tho), because its just so awfully slow for me, lags more than cm7, im sure its because of higher ram consumption. even with swap partition enabled. i mean it IS very smooth, when it works that is, but it quite often has these awful slowdowns for me when the phone just puts me on ignore mode lol
i mean its pathetic, cant even have 2 tabs open in chrome without having to reload the pages after switching tabs. movies and games work great tho, never had any issues, on any android version. best thing about this phone really.
Look i understand what you are saying but the weird thing is with the build from jan 2013+ the performance is just amazing..
And I never experienced a bsod nor a freeze nor a slowdown and not even a single fc i really don't knoa but some people have strange p990's or i just got myself a special one eheh.

lol, sorry for me? You shouldn't be, because I 'upgraded' to the EVO 3D, on an amazing sim-free deal for it, and it worked perfectly for me, without issue and had ICS for months before LG. I'm just considering coming back to the O2X as I really loved it apart from the lag. I would prefer to use a stock modded rom so that I get full functionality rather than fast performance and missing options.
I will keep my eyes open for one.. but they are pretty expensive for such an old phone (which is weird).
I am running CM10 on the new boot loader with custom kernel and its darn near perfect for me. Smooth as butter and battery life is as good as pure CM7 ROM.

No lags with stock LG ICS 30B, very smooth full functons and stable.
Maybe in some months we'll have a stable CM10.1; CM7 took at least six months to be a stable version (missing of some functions).
