Touch Screen not working

Hi all, I have woken up today to find that my touch screen no longer works!
Im guessing that i'll need to send it back to repair so my question is this, where can I find stock SPL and stock ROM?
Just woke up and it suddenly doesn't work? Sounds very strange to me... Were you drunk yesterday? (just kidding )
I'd try a hard reset first, have your touchscreen been acting strange lately?
it did have the newton ring in the center, had it about a week, but no effects on the screen; now seams to have spread right across the screen , after a little testing have found that small parts of the screen works.
I am going to see if i can replace the touch screen myself, found this on ebay, already have the tools, wish me luck.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Digitizer-Tou...14&_trkparms=72:1690|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
Better then sending off to HTC and them saying that its user abuse and waiting 3-4 weeks.

Can you please let us know if this fixes the "newton ring" fault aswell. I thought it was the lcd screen and not the digitizer that would need replacing to fix this. since you've bought this now it would be good to know.
Thanks

Hi,
after opening the phone have found out that i need a new LCD as well, have one on order but it is coming from Hong Kong so waiting on delivery, there is a combo on ebay that sells both the digitizer and lcd, so, if all goes well then i will post links and results.
Am currently using an old nokia until my diamond is fixed am missing all the functionallity that I have with the diamond.

My D3 Repair! success :)

Hi all
quite some time ago I killed a good 20% of my digitizer - bottom right corner where on screen keyboard is grrr.
Being in NZ I had a hard time finding anyone that would repair it for a reasonable cost etc. This phone is not native to NZ - parallel import.
Fired an e-mail back to a local supplier to touch base on an old quote and almost fell off my chair to find they had a spare screen/digitizer/keyboard/slider etc "second hand" for $90 NZD.
BOOM jumped on that, parts arrived I swear they are brand new !
Took it apart following a video guide, 60mins or so later she is as good as new
Like really new, never realised just how worn my keyboard was :/
WOHU
If anyone needs help with such things be sure to ask I can help where possible

How about this: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-3/530813-motorola-droid-3-screen-repair-guide.html
Congrats!! My D3 took a nosedive onto the concrete a few weeks back, scared the crap out of me... I thought for sure I'd busted my screen, but these phones are built like tanks.
nice to hear others have succeeded with repairs
apologies for no response, thought I was to be notified of replies :/ apparently not!

[Q] Repair Parts for the Milestone

Hello, I just need your help guys. On my Milestone the On/Off Button is broken.
I don't want to get a new phone since I',m happy with my milestone.
At the moment i search a repair parts provider, but I don't find any.
Somebody know where to get repair parts for the milestone?
The screen, the case, the buttons and these small parts are the same in the Droid1 and you can find plenty of Droid 1 replacement parts on eBay.

You can find all of the replacement parts on eBay!
Anyway, you need a Torx 5 Screwdriver. Some deals give you everything on eBay!

Dropped captivate, screen had purple spots, then black :(

Hello
I recently dropped my Samsung Captivate. First time it had purple spots on the screen in 1 day the whole screen went purple and the next day the whole screen went black The sensor and everything else is working.
How do you think, what may be the issue of this? is the screen completely screwed or there may be another, less important damage.

My guess is that you'll have to replace the digitaliser. You can do it yourself or contact mobiletechvideos.com for the job.
If you have any experience in it though, you can try opening your phone and see if anything isn't correctly connected.

did you mean the whole lcd?
Pretty sure it would be easier to replace the digitizer + screen, since I think they're glued together on the captivate? (correct me if I'm wrong).
It's about $75. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Cap...izer-i896-AT-T-Galaxy-S-Display-/160787040070

Yeah, I'd like to grab a spare if they are sitting that cheap now.

As far as I've seen, the cheapest I got mine was $80. Bad idea, too many issues, wasted money. Buying anywhere but swappa they're about 150$+. Swappa has one for $135 (hoping to buy that one actually, but either have to wait a week and hope someone doesn't buy it, or sell my pantech crossover faster so I have the money haha).

You just have to put "i897" or similar as an ebay saved search that notifies you when new products matching that description are posted.
I bought 1 cappy for $60 from ebay seller alltechwholesale, out of Texas I think. In my experience, they do a good job inspecting the phones first so you know what your going to get. In my experience and many others, the phone arrived in better condition than described....Then I picked up two more sold together on ebay for $70 that were listed as one bad digitizer and the other bad charge port. I got them as parts phones. The one with the "bad digitizer" ended up being just a bad search button because the screen lifted on that corner a little. A 50 cent tube of adhesive fixed that. Then the second of the two just had a dirty charge port and a squirt of crc electronics cleaner fixed it...Now I have a main phone, a backup flashed to be identical, and a media device!!
After taking this phone completely apart a few times it gets pretty easy to see it really is a mini computer and most of the major parts can be bought on ebay for decent prices and replaced fairly easy....The ribbons that connect the various parts can bend and break easily so that is something to keep in mind. I broke the ribbon for the headphone jack assembly but a little hunting on ebay and I had one on it's way for $1.50 after shipping lol.

Haha yes, I can relate to the mini computer aspect. Just spent my day repairing about 8 hp Touchsmarts, the cappy compared to that, is a dream lmao. Much less to deal with . I planned on using the cappy I have now as a spare part phone anyway, unless I can somehow get it to work. But I didn't know about the whole ebay thing. I shall do that now, thanks a TON :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: Just checked alltechwholesale ebay store, SO MANY CAPPYS FOR SALE!!! All around the same price, seems they put it up for 0.99 and someone keeps jacking it up to $70 shortly after. My only thing -- I hate auctions . But great share and bookmarked

yeah, alltech is just auctions but I just took time to read conditions and saved a bunch and you'll find that they go for different prices depending on what's wrong and even depending on the day or time of day lol......That's why I suggested saving the search too. I use the ebay app and when there is new listings of my saved searches I get a notification so I go and look. If your quick, You can possibly snag a "buy it now" at a decent price depending on the condition your looking for. I really couldn't believe I ended up with 3 100% working phones and maybe I just got lucky, but I'd say it's worth a try lol.
I'd say it was a combination of good research, and amazing luck hahaha. But I do appreciate it a lot, thanks for the info, cheers

Sorry we kind of got off the subject, But for the digitizer try what Bwolf said about the connections.
Once when I was testing the power button I soldered on my old cappy I didn't get one of the ribbons all the way on (i believe it was the ribbon near the power button), and the screen flashed a few different colors.
There is at least one probably more youtube vids with pointers on how to get the cappy apart in a way that wont do damage.
I know there's a tare-down guide here, and there was a YouTube video where someone replaced the screen, if I can find it on my history I'll edit this post

i have checked and now i am sure, that the screen is broken. I live in a state, that is not supported by paypal and and where can i buy used captivate for parts with my credit card?
The only place I can think of would be ebay, if you can find a seller who accepts things other than paypal. Or you can try craigslist.

Replacement parts for Galaxy S (screen, frame, chassis)

Hi
My Galaxy S home button got a bit wet and it won't work. I will try to separate the screen from the frame soon. However I would like to know where to order Galaxy S replacements.
I would like to order the frame and the screen separately and stick them in a way that they are easy to tear apart in case my home button breaks again. How could I achieve this?
I also saw lots of ebay sellers and amazon seller selling replacement screens, claiming they are original, compatible, with logo, and all that stuff.
So I wonder, are there different Galaxy S screens? How can you know which ones are original or not? Which ones are good or bad? etc
For example on AliExpress there are different ones like this
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...reen-assembly-Black-color-100/1185287851.html (Claims to be original)
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-...-Assembly-Black-Free-shipping/1659713345.html (no idea if it's original or not)
Thanks!

I always use eBay to get my Galaxy S parts. I usually buy half broken phones and salvage parts from them. Or buy new parts from seller's in my own country with good ratings. I try and stay away from Chinese parts, they are cheaper but usually poorer quality in my opinion.

The main problem about the screen is that the AMOLED screen burns fast and loses color. So I would preffer a new original one, or a copy which is nearly as the original

Hi....i've take a replacement lcd panel for one s3 i9300 1 week ago from aliexpress....i'm still waiting for it....i'll give you all informations and feedback soon!
Thank you TheFastGT
The replacement screen worked perfectly, but after all I didn't get to need it since I didn't break the original screen while trying to fix the button.
Button is fixed and cell phone is working perfectly.
Thanks everyone
