my friend wants to change the rom on his stock i9000
is there a tutorial or app that can root, install CWM, etc so that i can just boot into CWM and flash a new rom?
thanks
EDIT:
from a quick read, do i do this?:
. Rooting your phone and flashing a custom Kernel.
3.1. Download your preferred kernel (the version for Odin, not the one for CWM).
3.2. Open up Odin or Heimdall.
3.3. Put you phone into "Download mode" and connect it to your computer (DO NOT CONNECT THE PHONE BEFORE OPENING ODIN OR THIS WILL NOT WORK).
3.4.1. If you are using Heimdall, unpack your kernel until you end up with a file called zImage. Select that in Heimdall in the box for "Kernel (zImage)" and click Start.
3.4.2. If you are using Odin, select the file you downloaded in the PDA box and click Start.
3.5. After your Phone reboots, go into "Recovery mode" and go to "Advanced Speedmod ULK features" -> "ROOT / Install Superuser".
3.6. After rebooting the phone again, you should have root permissions.

dont worry, i am well learned from stickies, but this is urgent and considering this isnt even my phone, i dont want to have to study for 500 hours before flashing like i did with my own one
can you just suggest one please?
If it's stock, flash ramads jvt with odin. You'll then have a rooted rom with cwm recovery.

Yep.
Or you could flash milky's rom, he's posted an odin flashable version. It's odexed jvr.

so let me get the process right:
1) download ramads jvt and odin
2) use odin to flash the new kernel which will give superuser and CWM
3) boot into CWM
4) flash the rom my friend wants
correct?

Is he on gingerbread, if so follow the above process - you may need to flash a rooted kernel (chainfires would probably be best) afterwards as pda in odin.
If not on gingerbread, it may be quicker to flash milky's rom, it's got odin and full instructions in the download, and gb bootloaders.

your going to have to explain this to me, im really confused now
It's best to flash to the latest stock rom before installing a custom rom. Ramads jvt is deodexed but does not have root - so if you flash jvt, you will need to flash CFroot kernel after for root and cwm.
Ramads jvt does not have gingerbread bootloaders, so if it is on froyo or eclair, gb bootloaders will be needed.
If all this seems a pain, milky's rom is odin flashable, has bootloaders, root, cwm and also has odin and full instructions in the download.
Hope this is more clear.

Hello, I need to go back from LP1 ICS (imilka) to stock rom, which is the easiest way to do that?
I do not have a Windows PC and no PC Odin for that reason, could I flash one of the stock roms with Mobile Odin?
Many thanks

Hi, as far as I can tell the procedure goes like this. You flash AbyssNote http://www.mediafire.com/?o2yi462tby2lzan
Then you restart recovery. Now full wipe and then you can flash stock rom or restore your nandroid backup. I hope this helps.
You can watch this just to be sure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr3DDEh8vyc&hd=1

hello,
yes flashing abyss with mobile odin worked fine, had to extract the zImage from the zip file first
will install rom now via recovery when download is finished, thx guys
Just mobile odin is enough
1.extract rom(stock) file to tar.md5 n place on sd card
2.open mobile odin, select open file n point to rom file.
3. enable ever root option if you want to keep root intact
4flash
Done
You need nothing to do with abyss kernel
Still u ned any clearance, download guide from last link on my signature, extract it. You will find a file 'update rom using mobile odin' in new folder.

hi ...
how i install the LP1 ICS Repack with mobile odin?
Install Mobile Odin and Mobile Odin's Flash Kernel - if you can't find proper kernel file for your device, buy Mobile Odin Pro and it'll do it for you.
In mobile Odin, select "select file" and browse to all 5 files included in ICS repack. After that, hit "flash". Wait untill it reboots in the recovery, after it's done - do a data wipe.
You're done.

then it reboots and doesn't continue.phone goes into bootloop.
tried KKA, KJ1 stock roms... no go. also tried directly flashing from rocket rom, obviously it failed miserably. any inputs?
Try wiping the cache and data. If it doesn't work then download KJ1 rom from Dr Ketan's thread and flash it via PC Odin.

I downloaded the ICS LP1 Repack, i got Mobile Odin too. We're supposed to install AbyssNote Kernel also, right? But when is that?
1/ Launch Mobile Odin and select ICS Repack (directly the TAR archive, it works)
2/ Flash WITH wipe, then install AbyssKernel?
3/ Install the ICS ROM we want.
I downloaded iMilka CM9 & ICS Stunner (will try that first). Please anyone confirm this is the right thing to do in the right order.

No. Modify your steps like this here-
1/ Launch Mobile Odin and select ICS Repack (directly the TAR archive, it works)
2/ Flash WITH wipe. Reboot and let rom settle. Then go to recovery. Wipe the cache/dalvik and data
3/ Install the ICS ROM we want. Wipe the cache/dalvik and data and reboot.
Thanks, however in Stunner ICS there's no MODEM we have to install our own it seems, they suggest LP5 but don't even provide links...

Why would anybody need ICS repak if you are on GB? If you are on GB rom, root it(either directly or downgrading and rooting with relevant CFRoot files - PC Odin). directly install ICS ROM of your choice via CWM(as rooting GB rom will install CWM auto matically if you have chosen right CFRoot files)

You lose root if you go directly from GB to custom ICS, hence the Repack step.

Hey peeps iv got a big problem it happened yesterday with my Galaxy note GTn7000. I was on stock ICS LPT and was flashing new kernels through CWM when suddenly my phone just kept freezing on the Samsung screen when I start it up and it has been happening since yesterday. I think it was the speedmod ICS kernel that I flashed that made this happen. I flashed Abys kernel through odin and could get in to CWM. I did factory reset/wipe cache/dalvik/cache and then flashed checkrom which was on my SD card. Installation was fine but then it got stuck on the Galaxy note startup screen. I was searching for answers on the XDA forums and someone suggested that you flash a stock full wipe GB rom. So I tried to flash LC1 open Europe rom and was waiting for an hour the the rom to flash through ODIN which had only a bit left on the bar to flash and it didn’t flash it just froze. I tried 3 times and the same thing happened . I have used the USB jig to erase previous downloads and reset binary count. I flashed ICS LPT rom through odin and it flashed normally but when it starts up it gets stuck on the Samsung screen. Any suggestions? I can get into download mode and CWM so it means Im in a softbrick. Do you think I should download an ICS rom and put it on to my SD card and then try flashing it ? Help would be appreciated thanks.
Here is the video of what happens. Basically i have waited for 4 hours yesterday and it just stays on the samsung screen
Hey, Id recommend you flashing back to GB via ODIN before we continue.
ICS still has a few bugs and that could interfere with getting you back up and running.

Can you help me about one more little thing?
I have rooted my Galaxy Note and downloaded the v08 file from the: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516515
Inside the .tar file i found this files: cache.img; data.img; factoryfs.img; hidden.img and zImage.
What file i have to open in Mobile Odin to install the ICS in my Galaxy Note?
I guess it's:
Kernel: zImage
System: factoryfs.img
Data: data.img
Cache: cache.img
Hidden: hidden.img
Is that correct? Sorry about the silly question, but it's better sound like a noob to get a mobile bricked! lol
Thanks!
If you want to install stock ICS, you dont need to select it manually
Just in Mobile odin, select open file and point to tar file. It will popup and fill file autometically to according tab then just flash.
You can do it with PC Odin too.
Just select PDA tab and point to .tar file and flash.

So, i follow the steps to install the "imilka's AOSP ICS v08 [IMM76D/4.0.4]".
1. Downloading the latest version of "imilka's AOSP ICS v08 [IMM76D/4.0.4]" (v08);
2. Flash my Galaxy Note with Android 2.3.6 using Odin for WIndows;
3. Wipe Cache / Factory Reset;
4. Flash my Galaxy Note with Android 4.0.4 using Odin for WIndows;
5. Root my device and install the Mobile Odin Pro;
6. Flash my Galaxy Note with the latest (v08) "imilka's AOSP ICS v08 [IMM76D/4.0.4]" using Mobile Odin Pro;
But, when my Galaxy Note reboot, his show the status bar with the rest of screen black, some seconds after the android displays the following error: "unfortunately twlauncher has stopped" and reboot again.
Then, the Galaxy Note loads the Android 4.0.3 with TouchWiz just like the stock samsung version, with s-note, s-etcetera.. lol
Any sugestions?
