Dear Experts,
I am a really Android Newbie and a few day ago I bought here in China the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, P6800 with Chinese firmware.
Great tablet, but very limited access to international websites and apps
With the help of a friend we rooted the tablet with Odin, installed the recovery clock mod and tried to upload a new firmware. Unfortunately something went wrong. We tried everything that is possible in the mod menu (the menu where the tiny Android is in the back). We tried to recover, to update (we even extracted the recovery.img from the .tar file), used the wipe date and wipe... and did a factory reset. Nothing happens and the tablet was unable to restart and even unable to turn off. The Samsung screen freezes.
At least we went to the store where I bought the tablet and received a new one with Chinese firmware.
Now I am / we are back to beginning and would like to know more about how to change the chinese firmware into the European, at least Hong Kong Version.
I try to describe, what we would like to know, but as you know I am not an expert like you are
How to flash a firmware without using Odin from mod menu (menu, where the little Android is in the back)?
We
Where to get a suitable firmware for my tablet, that will help me to have an open version like Europe / Hong Kong?
How to flash back from mod menu to Chinese version - in worst case?
Can anybody help me?
Thanks for your kind support, Jenny

Thank you very much.

I really dont know the benefit from 10-posts limit but however... I have to post 10 posts before I can ask in Artemis ROM thread this question:
1.) To everyone how flashed with HSPL 3.03.00000, what RAM utilization do you have after opneing all tabs?
2.) To Sternas, Would it be a great idea to remove all the Windows Live and Marketplace apps which doesnt have any functionality since Microsoft gave Wndows Mobile up?
3.) To Sternas: Thank you for this ROM!

Gents, good evening.
I already made my homework about rooting and limitations, but one question remais uncleared for me.
I know there's some differences between the international I9000 and the Brazilian I9000B, but, after rooting, will a I9000 rom (stock of modified) work on my I9000B phone?
I don't care about loosing the TV facility, but, as I'll use the phone in different countries in Latin America, I need to keep the 3 band 850/1900/2100 for 3G connection.
Thanks for your help on this.
Regards,
I've tried to flash this "[ROM][FROYO] Tayutama Edition v1.0.0 [I9000XXJPM]" in my i9000B (vivo) and it wasn't a good expirience!
After rebooting, touchscreen stoped working, actually it almost work, I
had to touch a bunch times to get a response!
I had a hard work to flash my official ROM again!
Definitly there is something incompatible with our brazilian model!
I think we will have to wait the official update, there is a buzz that
samsung brazil will release on dezember (it's hard to believe, lol).
Want an advice: be patiente and wait the official update (through Kies).
Regards
No,
I Have de same problem when installed voodoo. Bad touch screen sensivity, no Digital TV, no Bluetooth.
I9000B and I9000 hardware are diferent.
Waiting for voodoo release or oficial froyo release.
Tks
Alex
Sad to know, the same model is being released in many south american countries, it was just released in argentina, and I was considering it, but if no custom roms work, it will be hard tio part with my nexus
Does anyone have the Brazilian stock rom (unbranded)?
I bought mine from Claro and after 3 days struggling with that f*cking Yahoo search bar and no GMAIL app I decided to flash a new firmware and the only unbranded I found for the I9000B was from Argentina, which works pretty well but I’d prefer a Brazilian one.
If no firmware is available, just the Product Code of an unbranded I9000B to use with Kies will do the job.
Thanks again

Christian, to root, you should google "how-to-root-and-unroot-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-with-a-single-click"
I used it with no problems ans worked smoothly in my I9000B, but as I'm a new user, I'm not allowed to post websites.

In the thread: [Q] Help Rooting the Brazilian SGS (GT I9000B)
Go to page 12, there you'll find links for Brazil/TIM firmware (I tested and it worked fine) and Argentina/Unbranded (Which I decided to keep and use, as it has no operators crap and both, system ans Swype, have portuguese as option).

still only 2.1, right ?
and NO 2.2 on the horizon, much less custom roms ?
i still don't know if there are no custom stuff, cause theres little comunity, or because samsung has to release sources or something like that.
What about now?
Hello,
I just bought my brand new CLARO SGS I9000B (US$ 370 / R$ 600, plans attached). I always was a smartphone freedom enthusiast and i had a few HTC models and an jailbroken iPhone.
My frist question is:
- Is there any hardware LIMITATION in the Brazilian version of SGS? (i know there are some differences, but i want to know about restricting differences).
The second question is:
- How can I ger rid of all BRANDS and SOFTWARE BLOCKS in order to FULLY USE ALL ANDROID 2.1 GREAT SOFTWARE FUNCTIONS?
Third question:
- Is there any Froyo stable version in any SGS model?
If anybody needs me to test something reasonable to reach answers, please ask me!
Thank you for your attention!

Hello All,
I have one noob question!!.. I have a vodafone galaxy tab (Spain) and I had it unlocked (from simlock). My question is that when the official gingerbread comes out and I update, will I loose the unlock?? (as in the case of iOS devices).
pardon me for my ignorance on android os.
thanks in advanceee
Really!!! Noone here has any idea regarding this!!
I am amazed to see no reply..
Really!!! Noone here has any idea regarding this!!
maybe I need some other forums apart from xda..
I havn't gotten the update yet, however, I'm thinking that if you receive your update on-air from vodafone, then simlock would be reactivated. If you update through kies, there's a good chance that your tab will remain open. Just my opinion. Cheers!
Just to confirm from Italy if kies updated only unlocked tabs and not the ones sold by mobile service providers. Just to know if I should wait for the official release or go the overcome route.

If you flash an official samsung rom it will stay unlocked. I don't know about a vodafone.
For your second question I'll suggest you to flash with the italian rom, that's what I did with my french tab.

I've Have my own with vodafone too (unlocked), And I installed the las overcome ROM with gingerbread... It's amazing...
Looking at kies, it says that our tablet can't be upgraded ^^
thanks orion,
I was just being lazy to carefully follow the instructions to flash it myself (fearing to brick it and then post on the Q&A on a bricked tab!!..).
I will try to read the instructions and do it.. can you point out the exact link (as you get a million hits on the subject with google and it becomes hard to choose the right one)
cheers
You'll have to revert back to stock in order to receive an official OTA update. My tab keeps reminding me to update my software but I'm rooted and can't install it. If I do install...it bricks my tab and I have to start all over again using heimdall. Odin to you...

i.e.. to sum up.. maybe I shall wait a few days/weeks before going the odin route!!
Hello Xda! I hope you've all had a wonderful christmas eve and an even better new year! I've joined this site after headhunting and reading numerous posts touching different topics regarding one subject and one subject alone: Samsung Galaxy S2.
Now, on to the issue at hand. After tweaking and modifying my firmware, in hopes of getting Cyanogen 7 to run along with the ICS theme for it and having failed, my Sg2 has never been the same, of one simple reason: I haven't found the exact stock firmware that fits my phone. When I write "fits my phone" I actually don't refer to the fact that they aren't working as they indeed are, but no-one that's up to date.
The problem could've been easily fixed if Samsung Kies actually worked with my Windows 7 64-bit, which it doesn't, and please, don't point me in the direction of other posts such as "untick debugging mode", "reinstall Kies", "install those drivers by searching 'this' and 'that' on Google", because trust me, I've tried everything. It worked for a couple of days, but now as I really need it, and want to get out of the hellhole I call "KE2", it doesn't seem to want to help me, at all. "This device is not supported by Kies".
Now, I've visited another thread here on xda, more or less this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 and dabbled myself through numerous versions until I finally settled for XWKE2 - Generic NEE and successfully managed it to run on my phone with Odin.
Since my phone is operator locked and I'm paying for it monthly via a Swedish operator known as Telenor I'm not able to update the firmware via About phone -> Software update either.
As I said, Kies isn't able to update my phone to 2.3.5/ KE7 (or whatever version is the newest) and I'm thusly stuck with XWKE2 & 2.33.
The most major problem I have is that I don't know which firmware to download from the topic I provided above, and I'd really like to know which one to actually download in order to have the most up-to-date version.
I'd immensely appreciate any help!

why dont u flash the EU KK2 ROM with XXKI4 modem ...
Seems that I managed to throw in an update after all by simply connecting it with Kies again. Really strange. The information I'm given is that It's been updated to
PDA:KI4/PHONE:K1/CSC:KH1 (DBT)
I know that there's supposed to be released version where a blue animation detail/shadow appears every time you hit the top or bottom page of a settings window or such, which I'm missing, making me wonder if the version I have is the latest or not.
Can anyone possibly provide such info?

Why would I want to unroot it? It's not rooted, is it? I mean, I had it rooted and then unrooted it, causing the yellow exclamation triangle to disappear. I thought it actually wasn't rooted anymore.

Edit: Just downloaded Root checker and my phone's unrooted.
Shameless bump :C
Use Odin
Your first mistake is using Kies. The only reason to even install Kies is simply to let it install the drivers for your phone. By the way Kies does work on Win 7 64 but you should use Odin anyway. I got tired of all the bugs and malfunctions in various custom roms and came back to stock, Gingerbread DXKL3 (waiting for the stock ICS release in a few months). This rom is available here on XDA both in stock and Frankenstein versions. I use the NEAK kernel on my S2, although the Siyah kernel or the Speedmod K18 kernels are excellent too. So is the Dark Knight kernel with the Chekrom rom. Use a CF-Root kernel first to root, plenty of instructions here (just search) but it does take awhile to learn this stuff.
Have a look HERE for Rom's for your phone.
I have used:
XWKL1
Android 2.3.6
Based on official package
in the UK and it is very stable and great reception (for me)
Have a look HERE, has methods for flashing & Rooted Rom's
Very easy to follow and shows how to remove the yellow triangle
Any questions just ask.
edit:Always use odin for PC flashing (firmware KL1 should work for you)
You might get more help in the Galaxy S2 forum.

Hi xda-developers,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab (P1000) (hw ver. rev1.2), provided by Vodafone Portugal, and I want exploit the device by installing custom ROMs.
But as you can imagine, I want to be sure that I can revert the device to this state whenever I want. And this is my problem....
I've been searched for tutorials how to do this, but i could not find this specific ROM.
Info after pressing *#1234# :
Firmware Version:
PDA - P1000BUJQ3
PHONE - P1000BUJQ1
CSC - P1000TCLJQ1
Android version is 2.3.6 and carrier is Vodafone Portugal
I also went to a Vodafone forum, and they suggested an alternative by asking a previous version ROM to Samsung (unlikelly): Android 2.2, P1000BUJI4+P1000TCLJI1
I also can't get this one.
Questions:
Do you have any sugesttions where can I get this stock ROM (preference 2.3.6)?
What does people like me normally do in this sittuations on their devices?
Is there any Stock Rom without carrier (directly from Samsung)? Can I install another P1000 stock rom from another carrier (I don't like this sollution) ?
Let me just say this.
You P1000 is no different than all the P1000 talked about here.
Just read all some if the threads here and you know what to do.

Thanks nurusz, but I don't want how to flash the P1000;
What I want is the stock ROM for P1000, carrier Vodafone Portugal (TCL), no matter what version (2.2 or 2.3) and not-rooted
I have 2.3 now in my P1000 (that was never flashed before (only updated via Kies)).
Does anyone provide me any reliable solution to this?
Thank you!

Yes the "T" in the name is just the Telstra branding, if you follow ausdims rooting thread you will be fine

The 'T' in the model number isn't branding. The phone is actually slightly different.
I have a friend who works for Telecom here in NZ and they also sell the I9305T.
He said it is optimised for use on Telecom's network (and obviously Telstra's too) it uses different modems and the antenna is different inside the phone.
They do however use the same ROMs and firmware. Anything intended for the I9305 will also work the same on the I9305T, except modems.

Hello everyone!
New to this forum and new to Android phone. I have searched the whole forum and read through the dev-sections. Also did searches on multiple sites and through searchengines to find out what device model to use in the ToolKit...didn't find any confirming answer to my question.
As I have no posts from before, I couldn't write this in the dev-section, so I chose the thread that was closest to what I was looking for.
Question: What is the correct device model to choose in the ToolKit (I have version 7.0.0).
Information from my "about section"...
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII 4G
Model: GT-I9305
Android-version: 4.1.1
Build: JRO03C.I9305XXALK5
Operator: Telenor (Norway)
The options I lean towards since the only choice showing 4G, is number 21 (International 4G).
Problem is that it says it's GT-I9305N and not GT-I9305. It also says (Build JRO03C ALIA) and that does not match to my build either.
Then I look at the (International LTE), which says (GT-I9305)...which is ok.
And then number 14, which says (Build JRO03C ALK5), which is the same as mine...but it doesn't say 4G, which I have.
It might sound silly, but I really dont want to make the wrong choice here and end up having a phone that either "does not work at all"
or "does not work as it should". And before anyone says that I then should just leave it alone, my only intention at this point is to let
my anti-virus get root-access, so that the firewall works and the anti-theft works.
Hope anyone can be of help and thanks in advance.

Ok, so I rooted my device yesterday after reading through like 10 more threads...just took a chance, thought to myself "guts and glory" and went for it..went well =) I chose option 14 the build was the same as mine and it worked like a charm.
I am still left with a few quesitons though...might not be relevant to the thread anymore...
Does the rooting share the same build-match requirement as the flashing of a new operatingsystem?
How do I uninstall apps that were preinstalled on an operatorlocked phone?
Anders - Norway
I think you should look for app in app store, Root App delete or something like that. Then search for you operator apps/files and remove.

1. Bootloader is allready unlocked
2.For how to root look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190&highlight=how+to+root
3. Flash custom recovery, would advice this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxZf39vI0Lc. Download the .tar.md5 and flash with Odin in PDA.
4. Go to the CM thread and download the latest nightly and Gapps (Google apps) and place on the sdcard.
5. Go in recovery and wipe cache, dalvik cache, format system and data factory reset and then flash the CM rom and Gapps right after another without rebooting, reboot and you`re done.
