Home screens keep corrupting since 219 update - Motorola Droid 4

I had a hard time updating to 219 because i had used titanium backup to integrate system app updates into the rom.
Anyway, im now upgraded and everything works, except the widgets and icons on the homepage keep corrupting. I keep getting the wrong icon in the wrong place. E.g. play music replaces the powerbar widget and powerbar replaces favorite contacts.
I assume that a good approach would be to wipe the launcher app and start again. What is the launcher app called and do you think wiping user data will help me any?

Backup TouchWiz 3.0 icon position

Hello,
is there any Way to backup the icon app position from the Stock SGS launcher. Want to enable the ext4 lagfix with binds but this only work after a factory reset for me. Got around 10 pages (one for navigation, internet, multimedia...) and sort the apps after a titanium backup takes to long.

im looking for the same thing and have checked every where, i mean how hard is it for some to sort this out
Look for the database for TWLauncher under /dbdata and back it up. Not sure if restoring this would work but I don't see why it wouldn't. Looking at the contents of the database I can confirm that this is where the icon positions are stored. Also maybe saving the settings for TWlauncher with Titanium Backup would work too?
EDIT: you would need root to do this.

did anyone figure this one out?
You should be able to back up TWLauncher data in Titanium Backup and restore it either by batch system data restore or finding it manually on your list of apps and restoring it's data.
i tried that but i ended up getting a bunch of FCs, and theyre still there once i reboot

ADW EX wont remember to be default home screen

Basically i try to make ADW Launcher EX my default home screen but it does not remember it as such. I have to constantly choose which home screen I want when i hit home. sometimes it will remember to use ADW EX, but if I restart the phone any memory it once had as the default homescreen is toast and I have to start from scratch.
any ideas?
nexus 1
CM7 rc1
but i also had this problem with CM6.1
Do you have it installed on the SD?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
nah, its saved on the phones internal memory
Hmmmmm... Have you tried wiping data from both launchers?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I can try it again, but everything was wiped when i installed cm7 anyways. I thought for sure that cm7 would fix the issue because it happened in 6.1 as well.
I think it might have to do with widget locker and its home helper though.
I know I'm making the most basic suggestions, but since you didn't give much info on what you've tried, it only makes sense to start with the basics...
The reason I suggested wiping data from the apps is because, even through you may have wiped during your install, you may also have restored data via Titanium?
Again, with nothing to go off, I'm making basic, easy, and obvious suggestions first...

You could always freeze or delete any home screen apps that are taking priority over ADW Ex. Also, if you're using WidgetLocker and you're rooted, you'd be better off disabling HomeHelper and enabling root bypass for the 5 second rule.
Zero problems here, it acts just like any other Home app does, it honors the home launcher defaults.
What you say and what you describe are totally different. You say ADW EX isn't the default but then you say you have to 'start from scratch'. So are you saying that ADW EX is loaded but its settings are reset, or that ADW EX isn't the default?
I use it on my Nexus One (rom in sig) and my Nook Color, zero problems on either.
Double-check that ADW EX isn't installed to sdcard. Titanium and others can in certain situations automatically put all your apps on SD without you knowing. Also, if Widget Locker is on your SD, the home helper function could be causing that. So, is ADW your system default, or is it Widget Locker, with ADW selected within WL?

[Q] A dumb question about restoring apps after wipe.

Historically, before a wipe I run a TB batch and backup all my user apps. Then after I put on the new rom, I drop on the full version TB and do a batch reinstall. Unfortunately this doesn't reset my screens, and it's a pain in the butt.
I'm wondering two things:
1. I saw this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965594 and I wondered if this works on Gingerbread roms (no reason it shouldn't, right? but I can see going from Froyo to GB it may not...) (Also, I don't see a way for TB to restore home screens, am I missing something?)
2. I've cheated before and dropped some non-provided system apps directly into the system-app folder. If you drop your favorite app .apk's into the system-app folder within the rom zip, will it install them even though that's the protected folder?
Really, it's just time consuming to reinstall all the apps and reset the home screens, especially when Mix Master Mikey drops a new GR version approximately every time I get the last one updated.
Updating home screens is a pet peeve of mine too.
I have been using SGS tools going from each release of GR to the next. But, it only works with touchwiz.
Now I'm on Mosaic (seems more stable but TW 3 instead of 4) it mostly worked, except Widgets.
This is the reason I don't even use 3 screens .... too much a pain to reset every few days.
I wish there was a better universal solution to this problem.

I think it depends on your launcher. I'm currently using regina launcher and after updating to the newest GR and using TiBu to restore my apps, my home screens are set except for the widgets.

I use launcher pro and my apps are all in place when I restore that. I believe also if you go to restore apps and system data deselect everything then press data only then select the green items one of those will put ur apps back in place. That is what I do.

All right. I've been toying with launchers for a while, right now I'm on Zeam, I've used launcher pro and ADW in the past. ADW had the ability to restore screens, I suppose I should look more into that. I like how Zeam lets you put 0-7 icons in the dock and lets you auto-center them, but I suppose I can find a good alternative.
Right now I double-tap to get my dialer, swipe up for apps and down for notifications and it seems to work pretty well. I'll get my fiddle on this next week.
Thanks again.

[Q] titanium backup messed up icons question

I used titanium to backup all my user data and apps. I also noticed titanium had an option to move all my apps to sd card, so I went and did that. I also deleted backups for non installed apps.
One of these three operations seems to have removed the icons for some of my widgets/shortcuts on my home screens. Some of the icons say "Problem loading" and I can not click on them.
Is there a way to fix this?
Remove that icon and drag again the widget to desktop?

I would but its like half a dozen icons and i dont remember what they all were. I just did a restore all. That made me install all my apps again. Still did not fix the problem.
I guess I'l lreplace the icons manually once I need them and remember what they were.

Remove lg apps from stock rom

I just flashed the stock o version, and tried uninstalling the lg sns app, as i thought it is the one that contains Facebook and twitter. After the uninstall my home screen would no longer load and i had to reflash again. How can i remove those apps?
Also on the stock home screen bar how can i change the default messaging link?
Thanks a lot
Ps. I tried searching for these, as i thought these should be common questions, but my searching skills are just horrible.

Is it even possible to uninstall the LG sns apps from stock rom? Are you rooted? For what I know, it is a system app and cannot be uninstalled like ordinary user apps.
Anyway, if you phone's rooted, you can just download titanium backup and either freeze it or uninstall it from there, should be no problem, I do that too, I don't like the sns apps and some other LG bloatware. I don't know about deleting it manually using apps like root explorer or es explorer will have any negative side effects, but it usually don't.
Cheers!
Yes i am rooted and I tried to remove sns and also F-Secure using Titanium Backup, but thereafter i could not get to my homescreen anymore. I will try it again. Maybe it was something else i did, and not the removal of sns that caused the problem.
While rooted, uninstalling them with Titanium Backup works fine for me.
About the default messaging app on the home screen, if you mean by the 4 icons that is always there.. I don't think you can change it,atleast not easily anyway, there is no options for that.
Actually it's very easy to change the bottom icons in the LG Launcher. Enter the apps-drawer, click menu/edit, then just drag the apps you want down to the bottom icons.
Thanks. That was exactly what i wanted. I tried just dragging without the edit part but that did not work. I was also able to remove sns without problems.
