Alright, so i just put my phone back to stock from gingervolt by using my clockwork back up. I then unrooted it and put stock recovery back on there. But when i click check new in the system updates it just says please wait for a while then sends me back to the status/check new page. Anyone have any idea on how to get zv8. Just wanting to try it out. thanks
I had a similar problem (back when I could still use the USB port...), all I did was go to this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337386
Get the zv8 tot and follow instructions and you can flash it on there.

I installed the Leaked version of Froyo(2.2).I was wanting to know if/how I could go back to Eclair(2.1).
Yes I've the same problem, I bought an upgrade phone, but I can't go back to eclair rom, I got the messange E: signature failure when I put a rom in the sdcard, please help us...
I was able to do it today thru odin. I will try to find the link I used and post it a soon as I get a chance.

I am running froyo on my captivate as well, and my phone is constantly freezing. When it power cycle it I get a grey battery as well as a spinning circle icon. It will only power on if I plug it in and wait for it to show charging...
Can anyone help me get my phone back to eclair?

Have at it boys
If your phone came with JF6 stock, follow the link in mcord's post. However, if your phone came with JH7 stock, do NOT use the program in that link, or you will brick your phone. Instead, follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10056254&postcount=36
I looked through the forums for this but couldn't find the answer. Hosed Froyo (somehow) and want to go back to ATT stock, then reinstall. Have AT&T Captivate One-Click Root.exe but get a :signature verification failed message so it won't go back. Maybe it's the update.zip file that is corrupted or something, but not sure how to proceed. Used Odion (I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-designgears_1_.exe) and thought that would take me back to original Eclair/ATT ROM but all that did was put in a fresh version of Froyo...which might be good if it works but really wanted to start from scratch (Eclair.).
Anyway to go back?

Look for the odin thread in development to get you back to jf6. Just make sure you use the one with the three button fix included if you need it.
Wrong odin
http://www.fileserve.com/file/emnCn2j
Provided your build is 1009 or lower.
Can find this under battery
Learn how to use the 1 Click HERE...
Then you will be good to go. Use it to re-flash stock 2.1 or the 2.2 leak.
If you can't get to download mode or want an easy reliable way to always get there. Then just get a JIG like the on HERE...
Why would you tell him to learn how to use odin when his op said he has used it? And why do you spam your jig sales all over?

Really? Look at all those warez......
Always a good idea to keep somewhere on the computer for flashing a new rom. or sending back to att/samsung
Thanks everyone. I will read up on the aboe.
Should have mentioned phone is 1010 version (under battery) and I did get it to go back to Froyo 2.2, which I had read reflashing should be done by going back to stock then reinstalling, and so that is what I was trying to do.
Thought I had backed up my original update.zip for for just such an event but apparently either didn't or can't find it :S
The reinstall/reflash seems to be doing ok...unfortunatly titanium pro didn't back up all my user apps so I'm having to go back and reinstall everything, but I'll eventually get it all back.
Thanks again for all the replies!
Can some one help me? I have the original LG Revolution, got it the week after it first came out. I have Revolt 1.5 on it. I need to know how to get it from that point to GB, in "spoon feed me" talk. I know I need to unroot, I rooted with the superoneclick, can I unroot with thecube's Revotoolkit? What do I need to do? Please and thank you. Also, I don't have any of the original goodies, so I will need to rely on other forum posts to get me all that crap too. Also, if I go to the GB and want to root, will I have to use the ADB method?
I Spent about 18 ************* hours on this. The good news is, if my stupid ass can do it, ANYBODY can lol. The thread about losing root, and accidentally upgrading to v6 has all the info needed, I promise. And it should only take about an hour or so.

you have to install the LGNST 1st if you don't have it
here's the link to all the files you need to install LGNST just follow it step by step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211295
i don't think you need to download the vz4 tot file anymore since there's a root for the vz6 already
so you'll just need to run LGNST and load the vz6 tot to your revo, you don't need to unroot or uninstall cwm since once you loaded the vz6 it'll remove both at the same time. this process takes about 15mins
i recommend not to disconnect the phone until your revo have complete rebooted and the LGNST says complete
then all you have to do is update to vz7 GB on the revo software update
here's the link to get the vz7 GB rooted just follow the instructions and you'll be fine and this root can help root the vz6 also
http://androidnerds.net/2011/10/08/lg-esteem-oneclickroot-now-ready/
if the LG esteem don't work use the drivers provided on the link. rooting vz7 GB takes 1-3min
Those ways work my way worked as well. I just restored to the stock Revo from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129117
I then wiped /data in cwm. I tried to boot into that restore without doing it and I black screened. That restore doesn't have the /data stuff so something funky happens and booting didn't work for me. I wiped /data and everything was ok. After I booted up I installed Revo Toolkit from >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144951
Once I had that installed I went and changed back to the stock recovery.
With the stock recovery in place I then went into setting and pulled the V6 update to my phone. That came through fine for me (this is where a lot of people had problems). After that rebooted and installed I pulled the GB update to my phone the same way. That installed fine and rebooted. Only issue I am having now is getting my phone to root again so I can test out MT's new ROM for him which is what started this whole mess when I tried to flash to it from Revolt.
Hope my ranting helps

I did the first week I had my phone...Is this going to have a negative effect on trying to get v6/v7 updates?
I'm having the same issue. I'm on v4 and I'm not getting v6.
Many non Noobies seem to be running across the same problems with rooting ZV8 updates. The answers are spread across three different threads so it seemed worth putting them all in one place up front.
First, big thanks MT for putting all this up so quickly.
If you are still on ZV7, first try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566729
However, I and many others have not been able to get an over the air update (step 6) to succeed and/or get a lot of permission denied errors in the All in One batch processes. If you can't get an OTA update to succeed first try

If the OTA update works, you're good, continue with MT's instructions, but SKIP OPTION 1 "Prepare for Update"
If, like me and many others you still can't get an OTA update to succeed Alternative 2 is the LGPST method here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466655
Again, the key is to not loose Clockwork Recovery. As long as you have done the create local.prop step and not done the All in One Option 1 "Prepare for Update" The LGPST ZV8 push will not erase Clockwork Recovery. Then you have ZV8 with Clockwork Recovery and you can get MT"s Broken Out v 1.1 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577423
Or get back to a nandroid backup or rooted ZV7 to start over
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348637
If you loose Clockwork Recovery or otherwise run into trouble, the sure fire way to get back on track is to go back to ZV7 and start over. Personally, reading through all the forums and despite several attempts, I was never able to get an All in One batch process to root ZV8, always permissions denied. But I was just trying to ZV8 with Clockwork Recovery to get to Broken Out anyway.
UPDATE 4/3/12
Another option for regaining CWM if you use LGPST

MT is looking for ZV7 testers for an easy update

I'm more than a Noob, but far from an expert, so if this contains errors or doesn't deserve it's own thread, feel free to suggest removal!

Appears that you DO lose CWM with LGNPST. I just tried your method and I no longer had CWM. Maybe you missed a step in the OP? Otherwise, I lost CWM when I pushed ZV8 TOT. Also, just so you know, I did check/test CWM just prior to pushing and it worked just fine.

EDIT: I wanted to clarify and emphasize "Appears" in my reply above. Your method may work perfectly fine, but I had nothing but troubles getting things to work...

That is the same problem I had. Try the copy local.prop option described above and bypassing the prepare for update.
better yet, contact MT, he is working on an easy solution and needs ZV7 testers

what if I am on zv6 still?
Son's Revo asked bout v8 OTA today. Didn't want to do it as I figured it would lose root. Currently we are on v6 and rooted (via AIO). Never went to v7, and now with v8 am trying to figure out how to get to v8 and keep root.
Do I need to get to v7 first prior to trying to get to v8 while keeping root or is there a way to go directly to v8 while maintaining root?
I posted in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25188375#post25188375 about trying to get to stock v7 not working for some reason so won't go into that here, but thought I would ask about a way to get to v8 with root WITHOUT having to go to v7 first.
I have a solid nandroid (which I just had to use to get a working phone again) I can use so don't mind testing things.
Thanks for any ideas...
***EDIT***
I went ahead and went to stock v7, rooted, and followed the v7 to v8 (save root) process MT created and all is well.
I am currently on a rooted version of ZV7 and I lost my backup somehow, so I was wondering how to i return to non rooted ZV7. I basically just want to start fresh like when i got the phone for the first time. and then reroot and then i plan on doing the method for keeping root with the ZV8 update.
You can use MT's all in one tool to un root and then re root if you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348557 There is also a way to root the ZV8 software now so if you want you can un root upgrade to ZV8 then re root with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621625

So anyone able to help me with this. Can I use RSDlite ? that's how I would revert back to bone, stock, first day out of the box, with my Droid 2 Global and my Droid X, but I wasn't sure if that was just for Motorola phone or if it works for any brand of phone. If I can use RSDlite, then can someone hook me up with the proper SBF file I need in order to revert back to stock ZV7 LG ROM/OS (I was never sure if just the custom one were called ROMs, or if even the stock version of Android that comes on a phone is considered a ROM too, I just always figured it was just called the Stock < insert phone brand-name here> ROM lol
Oh and on a side note, once I do revert back to Stock ZV7, is the ZV8 update gonna automatically just start downloading, or will it give me the option to do so. Right now when it pops up, it gives me the option to start the download, or in 30seconds if i don't decide it will automatically start downloading. Is that gonna be the same way it works when i am back to stock ZV7 ?
RSD Lite is the Moto side of the house, we use on our side is a tool called LGNPST and files that end in .TOT.....
All the instructions can be found over on this page

Not sure if the download links are still active on that post but if they are not check

where threevolve was kind enough to host the files for us (link for the site is on the page) and is where I downloaded VS910ZV7.tot and VS910ZV8.tot
As far as the update starting to re-download it most likely will but if you end up rooting your phone after you TOT back to the ver. you want you can always freeze the software update.apk (plz if someone knows a different and/or way post the link or correct me)
