I can gladly say I've had enough of WP7!
I'm sorry........it's crap!, It was flawed from the begining. The updates should have been there from when WP7 was first introduced, not too mention the lack of anything decent on the operating system. Shall I sell my HD7 or use it to keep the door open! Hmmmmmm.

I'm afraid so. WP7 having the basics would be nice.
There's an array of Sat Nav's available for WP7, Free and Paid for?
Not entirely sure why you've felt the need to post this in the HD7 section... probably just to start an argument I guess?

Nice of you to vent on the people that may be able to help you before asking the same people for assistance with your issues.
Humility is lost on the keyboard warriors, now off to the android forums with you so you can join others who are just as frustrated with their choices as you are. They will most probably fursnish you with the argument that you crave, just choose a handset/OS version at random and call that crap too
Good luck with your next choice, maybe try to utilize the 30 day cool down period this time huh.

If you want to make yourself feel a little better about helping me to not support this developer (which I DO appreciate, even though I was 99% sure it would work anyway)
1. this program costs $199 per year
2. Over half a million health care professionals use their products (they aren't a struggling, almost-certain-to-fail startup)
3. as a 3rd year medical student, I'm just under $200,000 in debt and before I graduate you can tack another $60k or more onto that
4. I may someday be caring for the medical needs of you or someone in your Monkeysphere
Thanks again, xda rulez!

opps my bad i should really proof read.
I wouldn't worry about it. If anything, it should be useful for the platform and, as such, will benefit us all. For people like myself who flash ROMs quite often Marketplace is useless as it doesn't leave the the cabs and I'll have to redownload stuff every time. For those users who can't spend 5 minutes googling it will be a blessing and therefore will grow the market for WM apps.
What does worry me a bit is not users migrating to MP, but developers.

Doesn't anyone find it odd that we are paying out huge sums of cash for a Linux based OS that is free to use?
Because the cost of the handset doesn't factor into it at all :face palms:
I mean they handed us a broken toy and we fixed it for them with no pay and they sold it back to us as an update, now we are fixing it up more. Hopefully when Android 114.6 rolls out some devs. will for a union of some kind and make some cash from big business instead of settling for the 2.99 that their brothers and sisters are downloading.
Next time put the bong down and think before posting.

The internet is free so why do we spend so much money on computers to browse web pages?

But who is it that decides the devs have been screwed. Is it you? I think that honor goes to each individual who bought the phone. You don't get to determine that someone else has been screwed just because your panties are in a bunch over something related to your phone.
The cost of a non open source operating system on a phone is going to be so heavily subsidized, I'd be surprised if the additional cost was more than a couple of dollars/pounds/whatever. Bottom line is that you're just paying for the device whichever route you take.
Also consider how long android has been out, it is definitely the quickest maturing mobile platform around. Anyone remember the state wm was in at this age?
Edit: I think the developers would rather be "screwed" as you put it in order to bring about progress in a timely manner. That's what open source is all about!

First off, that's a toaster I want.
Second off, you're absolutely right. It's not about the money, it's about taking your phone to the next level and being able to say you were the one who got it there first. I and thousands of others have nothing but respect for these developers and a lot of us give them both props and donations for their work. I'm sure the donations are nice, but I doubt there are many devs on XDA who started writing ROMs and compiling kernels because they thought it would make them rich.
Don't understate the motivational power of random people coming into your thread to say "Your work is awesome, keep it up, and how cool would it be if it did this too?" For some people the respect is all they need, since genuine respect can't be bought, it can only be earned.

EDIT: woah dudes, was not me , though I doubt they could beat my epic touch. Found the story and though more people would like to know.
Like WTF dude ?
MS people are in general some arrogant kids (my opinion).
I smoked the Lumnia 800 with my SGS2 at work, and the lumnia 800 owner got cocky and started accusing me of cheating and hacking, he actually got totally "off-topic" with me, I guess it was "just-because"
That confirmed, once again to me, that most MS Phone owners are narrow minded, not open to other possibilities, and well, don't want to hear about other platforms, not even try them out, even if there are hard proof of the other platform being better
And yeah, MS challenges, they make their own rules as-they-go it seems, I've been in a similar contest, won it by the rules, but lost because my phone was rooted (ran stock 2.3.5 rom on SGS2 with root wich was laggy compared to 4.0.3)
Just my thoughts out loud
Bad ploy by that location and I hope that manager gets in trouble for breaking policy. That was a stupid challenge for them to use honestly. I love wp7 but I'm not afraid to admit that they are wrong here.
Honestly they should have given you the prize, or even a second shot at it. They cannot leave it at "just because"....
They're a global brand and their reasoning is that of a 5 year old....
Goes right along with some biased, anti-android PR MS has been spreading over the past few months. Their plan was stack the odds as they obviously couldn't just give out laptops left and right, but as you won by their own rules the refusal to pay out is ridiculous.
You're a nicer guy than I am though; I would have called up the local news channels consumer reporters and gotten a crew down there asap, or at least tried, just loudly enough that all the customers in the store can hear. They could give me my prize then, or they could do it later after their store gets some bad press that I'm sure would make its way up the chain until someone a bit higher found out. Heck, maybe the manager decides to call the cops because you're making a "scene." "Customer Arrested at Microsoft Store for Trying to Claim Prize;" would have been worth it
Any, as someone mentioned on the blog the $1000 they saved on the laptop--less considering its value versus price--will not be offsetting the negative press this generates by word of mouth. Sucks you got the shaft like that.
I felt like I struck gold since I knew I already had two weather widgets on my home screen

I don't know if thats was allowed or not. The MS people could also put live Tiles at the Home screen but they didn't.
Well, I have mixed opinions here. In a way, you actually won as no one mentioned about the home screen widgets and if they (either you or MS) have already put it in the home screen but on the other hand, this contest should be like display weather of 2 GIVEN cities, more like searching it.

When the rules are not clear there is always room for interpretation.
I dont think he did anything wrong by reducing the security if it wasnt stated that as a specific requirement.
I do agree with you that MS can capitalise on this by saying that you need to reduce your security in order to beat their phone.
As I said, both OSs are getting publicity, what they make of it depends on how they turn it around and yours is a good idea actually!

Hey all,
Recently I have been researching the big hub-bub going on where Apple is suing everyone in sight (my poor attempt at humor). Next thing you know, the guy that invented the Slinky will be getting a subpoena to testify for Apple. I have been VERY busy with the crazed thing I call a life and need a little help here. I am not very delved deep into this massive debate going on between Apple and Google, Samsung, HTC. The thing I request is a "timeline" to loosely term it. Don't automatically discount me as some "lazy" person. I just need the expertise of someone with their nose in this doggy doodoo pile, so to speak. I don't really ask for much, but I haven't followed the battle since the start so my ability to effectively chronologically order the major lawsuits and actions taken by all sides is next to nil. I don't need anything fancy, hell a text file written with Notepad will do, as long as the information is FACTUAL and ordered correctly. If you feel like composing a flashy Powerpoint then by all means do so, but it's not needed. The major points will be elaborated upon and condensed in a 15-20 page Powerpoint by me. Anyways, back to work since my professors getting on my a** about being on XDA.
Thanks, worldindo1.
