I need to unroot this revolution because the update that just came out wont work. Is there a way to unroot or to bypass this error?
Are you on zv8 or zv7? If you're on zv8, that's the most current update.
If you're on zv8, check out this post. It'll give you all the info you need.

If youre on zv7 still, I would suggest just flashing the zv8 tot, which can be found in the Dev section forum, and then use the root tool i linked to above to root.

Has anyone had success rooting the bell ota ics update? I have s-off and was running darkraider, relocked bootloader, returned to stock bell gb, then did an ota ics update. All my attempts to root the phone have failed.
I tried the superguide wcxjb_root_pack method, as well as the aio. Neither have resulted in busybox or access to root.
I didn't want to stay with an at&t rom because of some radio echo. I've installed cwm but I'm not sure which boot.img I could use to get root. Any suggestions?

Nope that will not work, and none of the other recovery tricks work on stock ICS. See my post here. scy77 this was the only way i was able to root my stock Raider.
go to
HTML:
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
and download the SuperUser Binary and SU.apk
flash via recovery
also download the htc vivid all-in-one tool v2.1 [NOOB-FRIENDLY]
I used this and it finally worked.

The supertool doesn't work for ICS root using the stock ROM. Spent the last few days trying this out and finally got success with the above instructions.
resolved!

You might be able to push the 12b radio to your phone from your computer via adb and your recovery
Worse case get into download mode and use the lg flash tool with a tot file.

Well I had to use the lgflash tool to revert to 11a. Back on 12b with after that huge 11a download. But is there is there Amy way to update the radio to 24a without getting bootloops?

Are you trying to install a 24A rom also? Follow the upgrade guide for that and you'll get the radios too.

Are you trying to stay on 12B while retaining the 24A radio or are you trying to update the ROM? If the latter, the procedure to my understanding is to update the bootstack while in recovery but make sure you reboot back into recovery or you'll be in the boot loop. From there you'll be able to flash the 24A ROM of your choosing.
Hey all. I had my phone rooted for a long time and I have safe strap. Haven't been here in a while and would like to upgrade to 4.4. Now my stock slot is on android 4.0, baseband N900AUCUBNB4. When I try to update it says my software is up to date or says downloading then hangs. How do I return to full stock to update? Thanks.

That thread says there is no need to remove root. If I want to use the ota updates do I have to remove root or will the otas still work? Thanks
Using the odin file/files will install the latest stock nc2 Rom and remove root at the same time. If you then want root use towelroot.

I believe I have done enough research to see that I can root the newest version of the gs5 with towel root, and can install a bootstrap recovery.
I havent found a clear thread on restoring the newest update back to stock...is there anywhere that has the odin downloads for the newest?
Or is it ok to download a previous firmware? And then I will just get prompted to install the update?
I have owned an htc one, and nexus phone, but new to this one...I always like to know how to restore to complete stock before I try anything, so any help here would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

So if I have AND3 version right now this won't work? Because the bootloader won't flash and then wouldn't be able to set up ota updates... Is that right?

Yep you'll have to use muniz_ri method to downgrade to NCE then follow the steps it's actually quite easy to do so I've done the method several times after soft bricking my s5

Is it as simple as flashing that downgrade tar file in Odin? Just put that single file in and it'll downgrade it all?
Thanks for the help by the way.

Yes then follow the steps as indicated in the thread. It shouldn't take you more than 15-20 minutes in total to downgrade and complete the process. Just take your time and read and follow instructions exactly.

Im reading that the bootloader wont downgrade properly...is this correct?
If I downgrade, I would want to totally downgrade everything, that way my phone could receive OTA updates to get back to date correctly in case of a restore to stock.
Does that make sense? I have yet to find a guide or anything that allows AND3 based software to be able to restore to a "complete" stock. I was hoping to be able to downgrade it all, even the bootloader, and then just be able to receive the OTA to get back to AND3 stock.

You can Odin to NCE bone stock and take the NG3 update and not root and when 5.0 drops take the Lollipop update.

I was rooted then flashed the 10n kdz since I haven't received the notification for the update.Then I just re-rooted with a pre-rooted 10n.img user Rydah805 posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/h81110n-stock-rooted-image-t3191038
