hello friends ,

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
now i am trying to unlock my phone and i came to know that i should need custom kernel . now my questions are :
1. which kernel is safe to use along with stock ICS rom . ? and where can i get that kernal ?

You can use Speedmod kernel or NoteCore.
Try searching for EFS backup in the forum, you can find it easily I'm sure.
If it is sim unlock you mean here it is. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808629

I think the 'unlock' word the OP is indicating is to 'root' his phone....

I dont know why you get error but you could try flash gingerbread rom and just use the galaxy s unlock. Of course you need custom kernel for the purpose of acquiring the CWM recovery in order to flash the zip file added by criskelo.

As of now we just have 4.1 (JB) and you can update your Note by flashing one of the available JB custom roms (make sure to follow instructions properly, if you choose to flash one)
Since you are on custom Kernel so OTA and Kies is a no go.

Hey ,
I installed cyanogen mod normally as it was written in the wiki , I installed CWM-Based Recovery v6.0.1.2 (I used the CWM recovery first , but it did not access the internal storage where the roms were , so i went with this one as suggested in the wiki.) and used it to install cyanogen mod 10.1 , I did everything normally , and the rom installed without any problem.
But when im using the phone , it seems fine as long as i keep the screen on , but if i leave the phone for a moment so that it locks itself, it restarts , i tried more versions of cyanogen mod , like 10.0 and 9 and even 7, but still the same result.
I didn't root my phone , as it was not necessary as stated in the cyanogen mod wiki.
What can i do to fix this problem?

Hello again, I tried the way you suggested and I encountered some problems in the way... I have already installed cm , and because of that my phone does not display the baseband number , or the IMEI number.
So how would you suggest I download the correct version of the stock rom of my phone...?
Thanks,
Hey
Just go to sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
The search for the stock firmware for your region and flash it via Odin
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
And after installing stock you can save the efs (imei) then flash JB

Hey again , thanks for the suggestion , its a good idea but the problem is , a friend bought this phone from another guy , so I don't know which network or country it belongs to , and of course there is not version for my country... So how do you suggest i find the correct one for this phone? and if i do download and install the stock version of ... say T-Mobile or something , would that lock the phone to that specific network?
And if so , is it possible to unlock it to be used with any network?

according to your IMEI you have a GT i9000, so just flash a Gingerbread JVU ROM from here, just follow the upgrade procedure all the download links are there , if you need to change modem according to your region, it can be done easily later , when reception is poor or you have network problems. if you need help concerning it, you must tell us where you are located first.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

Hey
Read this

Also then check if you have an international variant of the sgs..!!
As long as it the international one you can flash an open / unlock version of the firmware regardless it baseband..(Model No.: GT-I9000 ONLY!!)
BTW I have flashed an UK version firmware for an sgs bought in India..it works..
Then download your firmware from sammobile and flash it..

And to check the firmware version i have to do *#1234# right?
This does not do anything ,
And in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434225
In the "Upgrading or downgrading to Gingerbread" i see in the procedure it says that i have to do
PDA > CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.m d5
PHONE > MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5
CSC > GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5
I have the I9000XXJVU CFROOT , but it later says i need PDA > CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS,
How do i find the ones mentioned above?
Or should i just carry on without them?
The PIT is clear, but I cannot understand what to do about PDA , PHONE , CSC and PDA > CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS...
Could you please suggest how I continue?

Man, just click the download link and everything you need is inside it, and follow what it says word for word.. select mean click "PDA" and browse to the folder where you had downloaded that files and chose thatparticular file mentioned, or look at the video on how to use Odin, the link to watch video is also in there

I know that and so I am telling that there is no connection between full wipe and manually giving permission of root access.
If you know , please help me
what i understood is that you want to have root access .
try that file , copy to sd directory then flash it from the recovery .,
for root :
universal_gb_root_v25.zip
and unroot :
universal_gb_unroot_v9.zip
it should give you root access. if you were using Gingerbread . just try it .
so i can't post links it seems cuz i don't have 10 posts ,
just google the name of the file you'll find it .

100% I know, that you can use Odin to install gb. And I think, you could install upd1.zip with help of recovery.

if you can not find any upd.zip. Than I`ll post it later.
