Fix for T-Mobile Yet? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are there any fixes for 3G/4G use on the international version yet? I really like the design of it better then the ATT and soon-to-be T-Mobile version.

No. CDMA=no SIM. and if it is a CDMA world phone I doubt people will be able to hack the SIM slot and unlock it. And even if they did it is not equiped with a T-mo US 3G radio.
eh. damn, that phone is supposed to be the best android phone yet
Have u seen the Motorola Cliq that's comming to tmob very soon...

That's an ugly cheap toy. Sorry had to say it. T-mobile needs to step up the game again. They missed out on the great Hero. Hopefully they get the "Dragon" first.
Feeling some mad buyer's remorse over purchasing a MT3G ~2 months ago.
Oh well.
also, +1 for Dragon on T-mo

MT3G.... oh My Touch 3G.... I like T-MO red the most. Not a bad looking phone in person. Think of it this way. When your 2yr contract is up there will beter phones than the ones coming out in 2010.
There IS a GSM Droid coming though for Telus Mobility in Canada which is switching over to HSDPA along with Bell. CDMA is getting phased out in Canada.

Yep, CDMA RIP (include the USA as well)! Such a waste of "space"
Yeah, with LTE (4G), the whole world should be following a unified standard hopefully on not more than two frequencies.
Oh, I hope they use more than two frequencies otherwise there will be too much interference
Very interested in the Motorola Droid.
Questions about Android...
Can you get real time push hotmail?
Is there a wifi router app?
Is there a logmein app?
Is there an orb app (or able to stream from orb site)?
Thanks in advance...

I doubt you'll have an interference problem, being that the rest of the world has the same standard it's only the states now that don't use one standard (we have to always be different). I'm on the bandwagon with CDMA being phased out, even if it is better tech (I don't agree with that statement I'm just saying....) with the rest of the world on GSM it's hard to come out with a good phone that will support either or both.
Will we be getting a special forum for the droid here on XDA?

So where will we go for our custom roms? I am not familiar with any other modding sites like XDA.

I have no idea at all sorry.
Try googleing for Android forums. I'm sure they are out there.
I too am slightly concerned about that. We'll need to get to work on rooting the thing as soon as possible. Has anyone started digging into the thing who has a review unit?
We certainly need to find a central location to collaborate.

Nexus 4 42mbps (DC-HSPA)

Not sure if this deserves to be here but I have rang a few different google people and they have confirmed the unlocked version does support 42mbps (DC-HSPA) if your carrier has it . Thought I'd let people know.

what the .... you're right. I could have sworn the Play Store said "HSPA+ 21" in the tech specs earlier today, but now it says "HSPA+ 42". Maybe I'm just going nuts. Not the first time

The +21 was an error, they recently corrected the specs listing to +42

Very true but remember in order to get the T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling app to work it would need a different radio/kernel so updates wouldn’t get pushed out as fast as on other devices …
Unless T-Mobile its not planning on supporting it…
T-Mobile is the only carrier with 42mbps+, right?
AT&T is only 21mbps+?

In the US, yes. European carriers have it as well.
correct me if i'm wrong, but buying the unlocked version for use on AT&T would not affect anything but the max speeds, right?

OK, guys, stop calling it "unlocked version". There is no "locked" version. The version of the phone sold by T-Mobile is literally the exact same version that is sold on the Google Play store, no distinction whatsoever. There will be no custom modem or wifi calling apps on their version.

Why? It is unlocked. It is a very important distinction considering it is a pentaband phone. There have been locked GSM Nexus devices in the past btw.
Canadian Carriers
Can we expect HSPA+42 on Rogers in Canada or will we only get 21. I know Telus and Bell can both do HSPA+42. If not, I may have to switch to Telus or Bell...
For those in Canada, as far as I know Bell, Telus and Sasktel have some 42 mbps DC-HSPA coverage while Rogers, Wind and Mobilicity only have 21 mbps.
Here is Bell's coverage map. The light blue areas have 21 mbps while the darker areas have 42 mbps. Telus' coverage map should be indentical since they share the network.

Considering buying this phone

I'm considering buying this phone used and off contract so I have a few questions.
1) Do the ROMs for this phone have multi-window and other premium suite features?
2) Can I get this device to work with T-Mobile? I won't be using data and will only use T-Mobile for calling and texting. Because I am on campus the majority of the time, there is little need to have a data plan.
Yes the Touchwiz based ROMs have support for multi-window ans those Samsung added 4.1.2 features.
Guess it should work with T-mobile, should it not?!!! Why do u ask that?

I keep hearing how the Galaxy Note on AT&T hasn't gotte multi-window and other features so people were complaining about that.
I should of been more specific. Sorry.
Does it work with t-Mobile's 4G and 3G? This own't be a big deal since I don't have a data plan though.
I'm from India, so do not know much about the AT&T. But i have seen custom ROMs for the AT&T version of the Note (Jelly Bam) and don't think it should be a concern. And yes it will work with T-Mobile 3G, the note doesn't have support for 4G network.

Thanks. I won't be needing 4G or even 3G anyway.
I got the N7000 version instead of the American release i717 because it's a bit better speced except for the case of the lack of NFC in the N7000 while the i717 does have NFC.
Happy time with the note ahead, I have the N7000 too! Feel free to ask your doubts here and do hit thanks if i help!

Convert from Tmo USA: what do I lose?

If I flash the international rom on to my Tmo version, what do I lose besides wifi calling? Thanks.

From what I understand. You will lose out on all T-Mobile branded apks or T-Mobile branding, wifi-calling.. It will pretty much be all stock out of the box with out carrier bloatware.. or branding.
Luckylui- I'm coming from a N4 too. Any regrets?

I'm sure an Android can add that feature through software. It's not like the iPhone has a special hardware chip or whatever for it. I could be so very wrong though, but that wouldn't make much sense

in the T-Mob S4 Android Development section, this was a sought after feature on my VirginROM which was created for non-Google Play Edition S4's so that they could have the Google Play Edition experience. a developer finally got it working after many many months of trying but it was never released.
tl;dr - no, this will never happen, sorry.
