Ready to flash any custom rom? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so i have rooted by my xxla6 note, cf-root with cwm, am i safe to flash any rom now? looking to flash checkrom, so i just follow the following instruction?
Q: I'm coming from a different ROM how can i install this ROM ?
A: Follow the steps below
Get into the CWM recovery
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Install the wipe version of this ROM

Yes, that what I did for my rooted GB rom. In fact I just went through the wipe once and I had no problem. However you should follow the instruction from their website.

Normally you can just boot to recovery, flash the rom you like ie. CheckRomHD, then wipe data/cache/Dalvik (no need to wipe battery stats) and reboot.
If you get stuck in a bootloop or getting other weird issues you can reboot to recovery and do the 3-wipe again.

You just stick to what the CheckRom Dev wrote, and follow his instructions to the letter.
Completely disregard alternative ways you have been offered here.
And you guys, please don't try to confuse a man who is already uncertain of how to flash
by offering other options. What a Dev says is always the right way.

You can use both methods as far as I know.
My best bet for clean install is after doing a factory reset, flashing the stock (reminding you that there is a new V5 of it now) and flashing the wipe version. Be careful not to forget flashing a modem in the process.
After the process, I charged to full; wipe the batt. stat and charge to full again and use the tab until 0% batt to charge it again.
One note; better wait for the next OVercome version or use alternative kernels as Koxudaxi's or Dip7's since Icarus's kernel voltage table may not work for overclocked frequencies if you do that.
Hope that helps.

Kongar
thanks a lot Kongark
now the problem is resolved
because the newest version of "Overcome ROM 3.0.1 JUPITER" is out
sorry for my poor english
best regards from France

KingDroid safe?

having look at kingdrod ics, i'm impressed by it, it runs on LP8 so i guess it will be safer than leaked kernal, and to my understand, NO WIPE DATA under any circumstance then i would be safe to use without superbrick??
If i need to wipe for whatever reason, i need to flash abyss kernal then wipe data?
Also how to install from gingerbread to kingdroid?

Follow the instructions in their website:
"Have the battery charged to 100%
-Download the kernel Abyss
'I copy it to phone memory
-We went into recovery and install this kernel without leaving the recovery going to advanced and reboot in recovery
-We will leave the recovery abyss (s Touch)
-We all three wipes
-Install the rom kingdroid
-Reboot and ready"
According to their instruction you need to download AbyssNotekernel42 zip file. Put it in your phone, flash Abyss through recovery then reboot into recovery of Abyss then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache. Then you can flash the rom.

gapps not installing

Hello,
i have recently flashed this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192109 con my i9001
i then tried to flash the gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip and a more recent 20130421 gapps pack but after flashing using the cwm touch i then reboot and the phone starts normally without any apps installed.
how can i get the gapps to install and work?
thanks
Simone
Hmm, I'd try to wipe everything (rom, dalvik cache, data etc.) and start from scratch with two packages (ROM + chosen GAPPS) then we'll see
just for all of you to know..
since my clockworkmod (i9001 Touch CWM 6.0) taken from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29331775#post29331775 kept giving me strange script errors not working i decided to change it with this one CWM6014-TOUCH-CM9-recovery.zip from the wiki page http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001#ClockWorkMod_Recovery
then i did again the same procedure i did a few time till now with the other cwm which is:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
then install from external sd, flashed the rom then flashed the gapps
then reboot phone
i can now say that everything worked fine
so problem was on the cwm! cheers

Regarding fully charged notification

Hi,
I am trying to figure out (tried searching the forums), why doesn't the phone gives me any notification when battery fully charged.
Running stock, with no cwm recovery, no root. (Just restored it yesterday with odin. Previous rom: CM10.1 (May 18th) nighly)
I tried a couple of times deliberately charge at 90%... and an hour later... no sign of notification...
turn the screen on... lock screen shows charged.
Any insight?
Detail:
Stock 4.1.2
N7000XXLSO
Kernel: 3.0.31-1042383
Build: JZO54K.N7000ZSLO2
ensure clean installation [wipe everything (system, preload, data, cache, dalvik cache)]; then flash the official firmware
PS: don't wipe on stock kernel - BRICK CAUTION; always wipe on custom safe kernel with emmc erase disabled

Tried manually wipe everything in cwm, still doesn't work
Anyways, I installed an third party app (noLed) as workaround.
Thanks for the help anyways.

[Q] OMNI AsylumKANG Rom flash problems

Hey,
I got little problem and I need some help. I wanted to falsh OMNI AsylumKANG (from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2591479 ) , but my n7000 failed to start system. Instead after samsung logo it restarted into twrp screen. My version number is N7000XXLT9. These are steps I made:
1. using stock recovery I flashed PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT9-ORA-5.11.2-signed
2. then launched and rebooted into PhilZ recovery
3. flashed raw_kernel_r4_j43 and reboot into recovery
4. wiped data, cache partition and dalvik cache
7. flashed AsylumKANG_4.4.2_n7000_Build2.2
8. flashed pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.2-20140111-signed
9. flashed UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86
10. reboot
Afterwards as I said phoned showed samsung logo and rebooted itself to twrp recovery
What is problem here?
Thanks for help.
Should reflash Philz. Go to wipe/factory reset menu, then choose clean to install rom. Then go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache. Then reflash raw5, then flask rom.

Thanks for idea but I didn't help I flashed stock rom, then Philz then clean to install rom, wipe dalvik cache and the rest is just like from step 3 down. Same issue. I flashed once again stock rom and Philz, but this time installed paranoid android 3+ (pa_n7000-3.99-RC2-20131012). It worked. Maybe I just wait for more kitkat 4.4 based rom releases and then try.
After flash r5 you need to boot into recovery before proceed with lashing rom. Make sure you have done that step.
