having look at kingdrod ics, i'm impressed by it, it runs on LP8 so i guess it will be safer than leaked kernal, and to my understand, NO WIPE DATA under any circumstance then i would be safe to use without superbrick??
If i need to wipe for whatever reason, i need to flash abyss kernal then wipe data?
Also how to install from gingerbread to kingdroid?

Follow the instructions in their website:
"Have the battery charged to 100%
-Download the kernel Abyss
'I copy it to phone memory
-We went into recovery and install this kernel without leaving the recovery going to advanced and reboot in recovery
-We will leave the recovery abyss (s Touch)
-We all three wipes
-Install the rom kingdroid
-Reboot and ready"
According to their instruction you need to download AbyssNotekernel42 zip file. Put it in your phone, flash Abyss through recovery then reboot into recovery of Abyss then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache. Then you can flash the rom.

How do I actually install this? I've flashed ROMs before and I assume I can flash this one through CWM but it doesn't say what base OS you need to have running on the phone in order to flash it.
What rom are you currently running? If you are running one of the ics asop roms then I think you are good to go

Hi Guys
DarkKnights Author Recommend
Installation:
1. DOWNLOAD ZIP
2. WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET.
3. WIPE CACHE PARTITION.
4. FLASH AND THEN REBOOT.

I Suggest if you come from Stock ROM
Flash a Kernel with CWM (CF-ROOT kernel with Addon, my Favorite) with Odin/Heimdall
Boot into CWM Recovery Mode
WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET
WIPE CACHE PARTITION
Flash latest CyanogenMod (be sure, you do it with full version)
Boot into CWM Recovery Mode
WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET
WIPE CACHE PARTITION
Flash the DarkKnight ICS
Have Fun !
I know it isn't the Best Way, but it surely will do if you like that !
Don't forget to thanks [if it useful was for you]
_______________
I was more asking which ROM to come from.
I ended up flashing 2.3.5 JVT and then this over the top of Semaphore kernel.
so i have rooted by my xxla6 note, cf-root with cwm, am i safe to flash any rom now? looking to flash checkrom, so i just follow the following instruction?
Q: I'm coming from a different ROM how can i install this ROM ?
A: Follow the steps below
Get into the CWM recovery
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Install the wipe version of this ROM
Yes, that what I did for my rooted GB rom. In fact I just went through the wipe once and I had no problem. However you should follow the instruction from their website.
Normally you can just boot to recovery, flash the rom you like ie. CheckRomHD, then wipe data/cache/Dalvik (no need to wipe battery stats) and reboot.
If you get stuck in a bootloop or getting other weird issues you can reboot to recovery and do the 3-wipe again.
You just stick to what the CheckRom Dev wrote, and follow his instructions to the letter.
Completely disregard alternative ways you have been offered here.
And you guys, please don't try to confuse a man who is already uncertain of how to flash
by offering other options. What a Dev says is always the right way.
a) coming from a rooted GB-ROM:
- download Abyss Kernel 4.2 from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?c65mndvpk6ocbaa
- put zip-file on your USB-storage
- boot in Recovery
- Flash Abyss Kernel 4.2!!!
- boot back in recovery (you find this option under 'advanced')
- FullWipe
- Flash ROM
- reboot system
- ...you are done
==> there have been reported problems with a constantly rebooting system when doing installation coming from a GB-ROM as posted above! So the safe and 100% successful way is installing LPY Stock-ROM, root Stock ROM and then go on as described below under point b2). Do not ask for a tutorial on how to install and root LPY Stock ROM....it is describe enough here in Forum!

I would like to flash Charck's ICS XXLPY V4 because of simple ROM.
But I do not understand "Fullwipe" in the instruction.
Is there the exact menu "Fullwipe" after flashing Abyss Kernel4.2?
Or I have to click all wipe menu? (there are two wipe menu...)
And I would like to try to flash this ROM without the installation of LPY Stock-ROM.
Is there anyone who succeed this way?

Thanks for your advice!!!
My phone is already rooted now. and also I already installed Abyss Kernel 4.2, too.
I just confused if "FullWipe" is one of the exact menu or meaning of wiping menus.
I will give a try right away!

"FullWipe" is not one of the exact menu. Go to wiping menus, you need to do all three separately: wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, then wipe dalvik cache.

Is it safe to backup and restore roms using abyss kernel?
Hi Folks,
Iam currently running KingDroid v3 on my note with franco kernel 3.0.15 and would like to install Rocket Rom v7. I have kingdroid overclocked and is running very smooth and fast execpt it reboots every now and then (very rare). I am wondering if rocket v7 can be overclocked or would I need to install franco kernal after installing it?
As far as I know I would need to do the following to install Rocket Rom v7:
1 boot into CWM rocovery
2 factory reset, clear cache, clear dalvic cache
3 reboot recovery
4 install rocket rom
5 install superuser through cwm if I loose root after install
Did I miss something? Pls let me know.
Cheers,
Farhan
anyone?
1 Boot in recovery
2 wipe cache + wipe dalvik cache ( optional u can run jbroid kernel cleaner script)
3 Flash abyssnote kernel
4 reboot back in recovery!!!!
5 full wipe (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats)
6 Flash the new rom
U should not loose root but if that happens on the first page of Rocket rom there is a file named cwm super su. Download that and flash it in recovery as you would with anyt rom and y should have root back

Once you have successfully installed RR v7, the abyss kernel will be replaced by the kernel in RR v7. If you want you can flash franco kernel. Abbys kernel is for GB rom only.
I'm currently on jellycore (hydracore kernel), I download the ICS rom below and tried to flash it via CWM. I wiped cache/dalvik and installed from SD, everything seemed to go ok but now the phone will only boot to the samsung logo.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1872965
Do you think I should try and install an older ROM like gingerbread via PC-Odin ?
Thanks,

Why did you only wipe cache and dalvik? You should've wiped data as well. Boot back into Recovery. Flash the Hydracore kernel (if you don't have that, flash the Jellycore ROM because it has the kernel). Reboot recovery. Wipe data, cache and dalvik. Flash stock ICS again. Boot.

I'm currently in download mode because I was going to install GB via PC-Odin. Can I just turn off the phone ?. Also is the ROM in the OP ok to flash once I've re-flashed hydracore ?.

It should give you an option to reboot in download. But you can just hold down volume up + power + home button and restart to recovery.
After you re-flash Hydracore AND REBOOT RECOVERY, you can flash whatever stock ICS you want, just make sure you wipe data, cache and dalvik.
DO NOT WIPE DATA BEFORE YOU REBOOT RECOVERY! Can't stress enough.

Good.
It does take longer to boot the first time, especially on TW roms.
