I'm Starting A New Business - Off-topic

It's Called Tonixx And Is An Online Service That Allows Mobile Phones And Other Devices To Interact, Network And Play Games With Each Other No Matter Where Those Apps And Games Originated From. This Means Android Phones Will Be Able To Play Apps And Games For iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian And Others.
I'd Like To Know A Few Things To Do So
So Please Answer The Poll
Its An Online Service Which Allows People With Different Phones And Mobile Devices To Connect, Interact Socially And Play Online Games With Each Other Without The Boundaries That Their Mobile Devices Pose. That Means, If You Have An iphone 4 You Will Be Able To Play An Android Exclusive Online Game If You Sign Up To This Service And Vise Versa

Aren't there already apps that go cross platform?

To My Knowledge Theres No Mobile Game Dedicated Platform O)ut There That Goes Across Multiple Mobile Platforms

it sounds good but a little difficult...

He means its a good idea however it is probably going to be hard to set-up/make work.

Some more explaining
The idea is an online service that connects a number of devices through their different applications to a service that allows them to communicate and interact with each other through the service that works around the limitations the devices and device apps present. The end product will be cloud based. That means that it will stream to the designated device while being operated by the companies’ server, allowing for a broader spectrum of devices to gain access to the service devices such as low end mobile phones will have the opportunity to play games that are usually designated for the high end devices. Large server clusters will be set up to allow that kind of service to operate.
Tonixx allows people with mobile smart phones to connect and play games with each other regardless of their operating system. This is made possible by creating a client over a cloud server that is placed on a web browser like infrastructure that can be accessed by every smartphone that passes the minimum requirements for the service. While there will be standalone applications for each of the major operating systems, the web browser interface practically gave us a way to overcome programming issues related to compiling the different Operating system factors into one platform that would work for all.

Apple and Android already have cross platform real time multi player games.
Android has games cross platform compatible with the 360 and PS3, the problem is Microsoft and Sony not wanting their games cross platform compatible.
There is also the PlayOn service with cloud gaming, where IOS, Android , and PC users can play actual PS3 and 360 games. This service works extremely well

No I Know They Have Cros Platform Multiplayer Games
And I Know That There Are Services That Will Come Out Within A Year That Will Offer Real PS3/XBOX 360 Games To Mobile Users....
Thing Is
There Is NO Single United Mobile Gaming Platform Out There That Allows Gamers From Different OS Platforms To Play ONLY Mobile Games With Each Other (The Mobile Only Restriction Is So Much More Mobile Users Can Use Our Service Due To The Significantly Higher Mimimum Requirements For High End Desktop Games)
DUN DUN DUUUUUUN

The Sims 3 for Android Htc G1

Ea mobile has said that they will release an android version of the sims 3. I have checked their website but there is no mention of the game. There is a video floating around the web showing an ea mobile representative talking about the game.
Now i do a basic google search on g1 the sims 3 and i find this website.
http://store.handmark.com/p/124778/Android/The-Sims-3-for-Android/HTC-G1
Is this possible or are they just trying to pull a fast one?
I bet they did
I saw it too. It has the same screenshots for WM smartphones. I guess they did a quick java port of the game and are expecting people to pat 8$ for this ****. Gameloft are doing the same thing. Let's face it - with only 2 phones on the market and not - so - big market share, android phones won't get much attention by the big game developers. I'm glad I got my G1 only 2 months ago, I think there will be more an more interesting games coming in the near future.
for big games companies, android is just seen as another crappy j2me phone, unfortunately... let's hope easy native development will soon be possible (and better market share should help too)
Sims 3 on the g1? I doubt it. Have you seen the requirements for it running on a desktop? Lol my laptop, my moms desktop, or her laptop can't run it without replacing the graphics card. She just bought a new laptop last night just so she can play sims 3. I can't see this running on the g1.
Not to mention it's only available for osx and vista. Not even Linux even though there are a lot more linux users than android users.

i wouldnt get my hopes up. i tried EA's monopoly port to android, and it was horrible. i'm expecting the same for this.
Yeah I don't really like EA's games. Gameloft has made some pretty good ones though. It just sucks b/c this same game for Iphone is 3d whereas we are stuck using sprites. I can't wait for the day when we start getting games like that.

I'm hoping with the release of the hero and galaxy that more people will start to take android seriously.

It was announced at Google I/O
The Sims 3 for Android – New Information from EA Mobile at Google I/O
While EA wasn’t able to video demo the game, they were nice enough to give us a bit of info to hold us over. We talk with Vikram Saraf who discusses new gameplay features and performance adjustments for the mobile platform.
Sims 3 is scheduled for a June 2nd release date on PC and Mac with the Android release to follow.
http://www.androidandme.com/2009/05...-new-information-from-ea-mobile-at-google-io/
Hrm Ill have to try this. I played the Sims on the N-Gage and it was a solid game to be honest. Ran a lil better then its GBA counterpart. So anyone asking about the G1 version, Id say its a strong possibility that its fun. Would run well too Im sure. =)
Yea. This could really go either way. I've never been a big fan of large games like guitar hero and prince of persia on mobile devices, but this looks like it has potential.
I could go for a sim city game.

Where is Google Earth?

I've been lurking on these forums for years, don't really post much, but thought this was necessary.
Why on Earth (LOL) has Google not released Google Earth for Android. Spent most of tonight looking and no clues to when it will be released either. iPhone app came out ages ago now, i used to have it and it was amazing. Why haven't they released it on their own system?
If anyone has news let me know.
Maybe a petition is in order?

My guess would be that the only two mainstream "Google Experience" phones on the market aren't capable of handling such an app with the quality Google would like to bring with their products. Speaking strictly on hardware, the iPhone is a much more powerful device and can much better handle it. Now, I've never used it on an iPhone. I'm an apple hater but I wont deny its a great device (hardware wise). Perhaps when the Galaxy, Hero, One or whatever Sony is cooking gets around we'll see it. I'm sure they're working on it. Maps is nice but when I look at how beautifully the G.Maps app on the iPhone works I cant help but believe Google is planning to top it. I mean, Android is their baby. Of course you want only the best for your child. Right?
...
...
...
...
not to nit pick but the 1st and 2nd iphone were slower than the g1 by a long shot only the iphone 3gs is slightly faster. the reason actually comes from android not having native java(davilk instread) progress is being made and the g1 is more than capable however designing an overall system for multiple devices cost alot of money and google is very smart in investing hince why they went free with java first during the startup period. google earth is java and require native java. a smarter decision would be to set up an opengl google earth(nicer, faster, etc) so since it doesnt exist i believe it will soon. but just wait till you see what they have in maps. 4.0
Yeah, I laugh when the people at my work who dropped a few c-notes on 1) an iphone, 2) an iphone 3g, 3) an iphone 3gs like to talk smack about my 1st gen phone. All we need is more ram and better graphics acceleration. I'm sure that will be a part of the 2nd/3rd gen phones...
well it is there. the hardware works and well. many phones by htc have more hardware than being used. just look at the mogul. it shipped without hardware acceleration or gps at all. and because of the work from the community and pressure from customers sprint enabled gps. hardware wise the g1 blows the iphone out of the water( the reason 3gs got released.) its known as the new hardware syndrome. when you push hardware out asap things tend to not work. nvidia and ati ring a bell.

Performance issues in Android are an issue with the Dalvik Virtual Machine, not its hardware. Native code on the first gen iPhone runs many times faster.
My point exactly.
My whole point in starting the thread was becuase I knew the hardware was similar. I didn't realise there was no Java implimentationn within Andoid. Let's hope Google implements it in Donut/Eclaire.
There is some stupid crap being brought up in this thread.
1) Android apps *ARE* java running on google's own java VM called "dalvik".
2) Google earth is *not* java.
3) iphone does NOT support java.
4) HTC dream, magic, hero ALL HAVE THE SAME hardware where it really counts. There are minor variations in memory, etc.
5) applephone CPU *IS* more powerful than the CPU in dream/magic/hero... 600 MHz vs 528 MHz. Not significantly though.
The reason why googleearth is not on android (yet) is probably some combination of the following;
1) They have their priorities straight -- keep developing the OS rather than just adding useless bling.
2) Use of recently released NDK rather than writing a slow java app.
hahahah as soo as the i word is mentioned the thread always takes off on how the iphone sucks hahaha I <3 all you guys lol
Hate to sound like an idiot but isn't Google Earth just Google Maps in Satellite view anyway?
Google Earth is not just bling. It has so much user generated content that is highly useful and would be a perfect tool to use for an augmented reality app.
I have always found it a very useful tool, especially with GPS integration.
isn't google maps exactly the same thing?

I hadn't realised that Google had brought support for kml and kmz files to google maps. Essentially making them very simillar products appart from the the 3rd dimension that Google Earth has. Maybe it is less necessary to bring Earth to Android at this time.
I never thought the iPhone sucked. When it came out I thought it was a good looking device. Hardware is decent and it runs smoothly. I just simply abhor the OS running on it and Apple in general for that matter.

Thanks very much for the support
It's darn slow to load the page. Can't run videos.
Expecting updates
It would be nice to have an app for each of the mobile platforms...
This will be great! Right now it doesn't work so good with ie9 wp7 mango. I can't scroll on first page. When I press on one link I only see back button and upper left corner of the movie frame (it's zoomed in I think and I can't scroll). If I press video it starts playing so that is working.
Thanks for sharing, hopefully you can fix it Best of luck!
I'm working on that, the WP7 browser (IE9) has a lot of incompatibilities with WebKit(as usual from Microsoft...)
Its not Microsofts fault.
Its yours.
The webapp only works in WebKit browsers.
It doesn't work very well in any other browser.
Not in Firefox, not in Opera, not in IE.
I have seen some errors in your CSS.
I haven't seen the JS yet.

Ok, WebKit browsers are dominating the mobile market, Android and iOS use them, and latest version of Firefox works with my code, Chrome does too, IE historically has a lot of problems and incompatibilities.
For me what I think is that you never tried to develop web apps for multiple browsers and felt into the nightmare of IE!
I imagine it is much the same as windows mobile...they set some standards and then change their mind and break it all.
Samsung Galaxy S (stock v2.3.3)and XDA TV Dark Edition
Installed it today and seems cannot close it anywhere. Back button doesn't do anything and neither Menu.
What? You can't close a webapp?
EDIT: Ahh, you're talking about the XDA TV app, but at the wrong thread. I'm trying to work around that problem, but it seems to insist. At the time you need to kill the app using a task manager if it's wasting your battery that much.

I am a webdeveolper. I've made a lot of websites and applications.
So id do know how hard i can be to make things work in every browser. Thats whzy i do know that the problem is in your code! I had a look in the html-file and in the css and i have found a few errors.
Maybe something like this could help you: validator.w3.org
It works everywhere except for IE. Those aren't errors, but incompatibility issues with the Microsoft fragmentation in IE.

No. It does not. It isn't working in Opera Mobile on Android.
It doesn't work very well on a desktop firefox and on other desktop browsers.
It work ONLY in webkit browsers.
You can casll it what ever you want. IE (and other browsers) aren't doing anything wrong.
You are using stuff that works only in webkit. So it's not a incompatibility in IE or something.
It's a incompatibility in your webapp.
Use standard HTML, CSS and JS and it should work on IE!
This is having the same problems as the android application. It's not showing any of the more recent videos of the last couple of months.
Sorry, I've been working hard and also trying to completely redesign the XDA TV app so I can't update the feed, but I'll try to do it today.
Sorry
great S/W....iwill try
Just updated the app feed. My hands hurt after copying, pasting and wget'ing all those videos
Excellent.
Perhaps with a few mods we can generate a script directly from the Xda Podcast util.
I think I updated it a while back to generate a python script (to drive the youtube fetching script) from a Youtube user feed. The GUI isn't too obvious as I was quickly seeing if it would work or not, so might see if I can improve it.
Unfortunately I had problems getting python to run on my budget tablet I intended to use with it, so not done any more on it.

You sure? I'm pretty sure it's cross-platform.
Gameloft games on Android are missing lots of features and the initial ports are buggy and lacks lots of features like Native gamepad support, less special effects than iOS versions, bad customer support, etc... . Gloft games on iPhone 4 are better than my galaxy S which has a better GPU and lower res screen Wake up Gameloft!
Cheers Gameloft! You guys have an amazing consumer support lol!

I don't get what's going on? I've noticed that on different phones, my Gameloft data would either save on the phone itself or the phone's SD card. It changed depending on the phone. Right now, the data saves on my SD card. So that's why when I flash my phone, my Gameloft data is still there. My G2 saved the data on the phone, so I had to re-download every time.
That's probably what they were talking about when referring to Android/data/Gameloft
Also, I had some games save in /Gameloft/Name-of-Game and sometimes Gameloft/gameloft-data.
It was different for every Gameloft game I had.
Is that the problem I'm reading? Did I comprehend it correctly? Or am I just way off. =.P

They do try. Customer support hasn't been terrible for me through Gameloft, although some things were not 100% resolved, but very close. People are complaining about iOS being more favorable than android, but with android they have to come up with so many different versions to become compatible, and iOS they don't and it is just much easier for them to code it all.

The initial ports for Android are rushed and not optimized. Gangstar Rio is the prime example - iPad files for my Galaxy S? WTF?!
I'm pretty sure Gameloft makes games in C++ and uses the Android NDK to port it over to Android like this.

Asus Devices will be Playstation Mobile Certified!

Just finished watching the Playstation Gamescom conference and when they got around to the Playstation Mobile segment I was pleasantly surprised to find that Sony has partnered with Asus to bring Playstation Mobile to Asus devices. Though with the Nexus 7 being the official Google tablet it only makes sense really. I look forward to playing Crash Bandicoot, Tekken, Driver, Syphon Filter and MediEvil on my Nexus 7 in the future
It was also said that if you buy something on one device it will be available to ALL your PS certified devices, for anyone out there who has a Sony phone or a PS Vita or for some reason, one of those unfortunately horrible looking Sony tablets ><
Haha sounds awesome. Do you have a link where we could read more?
I wonder if it will apply to the Nexus 7 though. It's really a Google device manufactured by ASUS.
Would there be a benefit to this over a emulator?

The game would be likely optimized for our devices. I don't think tegra3 optimized, but updated for newer more powerful processors. So the same game should run better natively than on emulator. But FPse emulator with open gl plugin looks great.
Looking forward to this partnership. Almost positive this includes nexus 7 also. Since its made by Asus. Being partnered with Google doesn't negate that.

You mentioned cross compatibility, does this include the PS3?
Don't get too excited...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Mobile_games
And it is still under "beta" stage... sort of......
And it is mostly 1st generation games... or possibly up to "some" PS2 games down the line... although, some original "titles" for PS Mobile could be interesting...
But if you are looking for PSX games... I think you will be better off with FPSE emulator.
My xperia. S is playstation certified, all i get is ps1.games. I would not think that we are gonna get ps3.games!

I don't think the Nexus 7 is getting this at all. Looks like it's just for the Transformer tablets...
""Inspired by the diverse needs of consumers in all areas and phases of life, ASUS' foremost mission is to deliver truly innovative solutions that inspire consumers to reach for greater heights of productivity and fun. The ASUS Transformer Pad, which can transform from tablet to Notebook PC delivers this value," said Samson Hu, Corporate Vice President & GM of Mobile Communications Products BU at ASUSTeK Computer Inc. With the Transformer Pad's inclusion as a PlayStation Certified partner, we will surpass users' imaginations and change the rules of gaming.""

Hell I'll just be glad if they allow PS3 controllers to sync up without 3rd party apps.

You'll find out soon enough. But the Nexus 7 isn't Playstation Certified.

Not without flashing some files via clockwork recovery. Nexus 7 isn't PS certified. Yet....
It works, I installed it last night and added the require jar and permissions xml. I was trying to see if there is a free game to test with but they all cost money. I'm not going to do much with it as I am still pissed about the huge security breach while back and refuse to use my credit card on their network.
Edit: Here is the link I used to get it working on my N7

Lets hope you don't have an Xbox, as their security breach was much bigger, cost alot of people REAL money, and Microsoft have just been keeping quiet about the problem.

At least Sony were honest and upfront about it, yet the press still raped them over it. Nobody ever lost any money or details on the PSN hack, it all turned out to be blown out of all proportion. There was no CC fraud, Sony never stored CC numbers, and no rise in identity fraud was ever seen as a result of it.
( we all know the hidden agenda - American press pushing the American console).

Thank goodness I don't store my CC on Xbox as well. Security breaches happens all the time, thats not the point of this thread. I was just stating that I have not tried any of the games yet because I don't have one on file. I do see that PSN has redeem vouchers like Xbox, so I might get one so I could get some games.
