I went through the threads in the Development forum and couldn't find links for CWM Recovery for my Galaxy P1000.
It is unrooted and still on stock firmware. I wanted to be quite sure while installing. Will the one for P1010 work ? (found it in the Development section)
And after that should I install CM9 nightly through the CWM installed ?
Thanks
Flash overcome kernel and you get cwm recovery.

Hello everyone,
I had a quick search but couldn't find the answer so I do appologise if I missed it.
My current S has CWM v3 on it and I would like to upgrade it to v5.
What is the best way to do this? Thank you.
Flash a kernel with the CWM you want.
I see so it is that easy
Any urls to exactly which one I need and the way to do it - Really do not want to mess this phone up Thank you for your reply.
Well, assuming you are on Cyanogenmod 7.2, a gingerbread kernel would do.
[KERNEL] Semaphore 2.7.4 (CF-Root + Voodoo Snd v10 + OC/UV + BLN)
It comes with CWM v5.0.2.7
I am on stockginger bread rooted with cmw v3. Just got the phone. Does the fact I am not on CM 7.2 mean I need a different methoe? Thank you.

Is your phone a Galaxy Ace (s5850) or a Galaxy S (i9000)?
This is important because I've been giving you a link for i9000.
i9000 I still need to update my signature sorry

Just flash another kernel using odin. Devil is a good one to use. All the latest ones use cwm 5 but it doesn't reallty do anything the older one doesn't. I would stick to chainfire on Stock rom mate.
You have an i9000 with stock gingerbread.
Which version of GB?
Since you are on stock you'll be using ODIN to flash the kernel. Are you familiar with ODIN?
yes I have already gone this but the kernal was cwm v3 I need to find one with v5. And thank you for your replies and help

Well then, if you've flashed a kernel via ODIN before, then grab the kernel as suggested and flash it.
Check if CF-Root has cwm 5, I think it only goes to v3.

- Also I apologise for my terrible English and spelling in my few posts in this thread - was using my tablet and I am just no good with its keyboard.
Sorted. This can be closed.

You cant flash CM9 with ODIN.
Re-stock your device using the safe restock files/guide from Overcome thread/site links. Once you have stock rom and overcome kernel installed flash CM9 via recovery.
Can you please provide me with a guide ?

Really appreciate it guys ..
It worked
I had a stock Gingerbread running on my P1000 and then, after following instructions from threads here and there,I installed a custom rom of CM 9.0.0 RC1 successfully.
During my installation,I flashed the kernel with odin 1.7 to install CWM on my tab.
Now,I want to use Pandroid Android ROM for jellybean in my tab.
My question is do I need to install CWM with odin again to install a new rom?
I did create a backup of my current ROM but i am unsure whether I need to install CWM with odin to proceed the installation of the Pandroid ROM.
Thanks in advance
No, from cm9 just boot to your current cwm and flash the new Rom.

Thank you very much priyana.
It was your post that actually helped me installed CWM in the first place when i had stock GB.
Thanks again!
Hi Guys,
I have been trying to flash CM10 after I finished playing around with the latest XXLSA JB leak. I also had installed the fixed PhilZ kernel on this ROM. However I am facing the status 7 error when I am trying to install the CM10 zip from my CWM. I attempted search and it said that flashing the original Boot.img should be able to help me. I tried that but still no respite.
I am currently on the XXLS2 leak with PhilZ stock kernel and CWM.

Check if your zip file is corrupted? MD5 ok?
Btw you should post this at Q&A section instead of General.
I had installed the same zip earlier and it had installed fine. So I know that the zip and md5 are perfectly fine.

Did you reboot recovery after flashing Philz Kernel? I had the same problem. I´ve done all wipes, formatet cache, system ect. Then it works. I think the thing is to reboot the recovery after flashing the Kernel!
I tried reboot recovery as well as reboot system. No help. Does not work from stock recovery either.

isn't LRT an ICS Kernel? I am on XXSL2 right now and I have flashed quite a few ROMs using this kernel earlier. This trouble has started after i Installed the XXLSA leak.
As phillz said in the xlsa the new kernel has updated binary hence you are facing that error. Flash a ics safe kernel using odin and then flash your rom.
i have faced the same problem but when i flashed the slim bean rom.it flashed without any error. give it a try it might also work for you

you wont be using LRT kernel to boot your rom with whether it is CM10 or JB. You will just be using it as a tool to wipe and flash from. its safe and more reliable than LSA kernel
In that case I have both PhilZ ICS Kernel and the HydraCore Kernel. Let me give it a shot and let you know.

Flash other kernel(hydra?speedmod?) in current cwm,and then reboot recovery.
Just finished restoring my backup. Flashing HydraCore worked.
