Hi,
My friend bought a Google Nexus One, it is in great condition, looks as if no one used it, and this is odd because that model is old.
When using it without a SIM, it works fine, but when he puts in a SIM and trys yo make a call or SMS, the phone goes crazy and shows the X logo.
What can this be?

i get that with numbers that have an international prefix in front, tried calling my mate for three days showed engaged and couldn't work out why, figured out that i had his facebook linked and that number with international prefix was made primary, after changing primary numbers, all problems solved.
When I woke up today, my simcard was not recognized by the phone like no simcard was installed? I tried my sim in other phones and it works.Does anyone had similar problems?
my phone is an unlocked int phone.

Yep, same happened to me just after 10 PM (PST). Unlocked International phone, N7000XXLA6
Restarting the phone didn't change anything -- had to turn it off, take out the SIM & put it back together before turning it on.
so you have resolved you problem? I tried that to but it didn't help :-(
I am going to send the phone to service, I think its the only solution for me. Samsung have put bad quality simtray in the note I think?

How long have you had the phone and what have you installed lately? I know obvious questions but need more info.
A member had problems with wi-fi turning off which turned out to be a battery saver configuration issue. So maybe some software you installed or changed lately?
Hi!
I tried a new battery and I had the battery all night and in the morning I had the icon of no som card recognized.

Same thing happened to me last week. While I was sleeping my wife got a text message from my phone stating that a new sim had been insterted into the phone and that it was stolen. I have track and protect intalled on my note to warn if someone tries to take out the sim.
This happened in the middle of the night and my note was on my bed stand charging. It looks like it lost connectvity with the SIM and the track and protect app triggered to send a text message.
The sim was detected fine when I woke up. It was just a wtf moment.
Hmmm. Had a similar problem on tmo. Apparently my sim card was old and wasnt capable of the new networks. Tmo gave me a free replacement and it worked fine. How old is your sim card? Mine was like 5 years old

Hmmmm may not help I have custom binary count at 4 and the yellow triangle.... I can't figure out how to get back to stock with both rom and kernel... I used the test kernel but it added more lol, any suggestions?

what is radio rom ?
Type *#06# and check IMEI. If it's like 000... or 0049... or just not match to your number under battery - Your EFS partition is corrupted. If you have a backup it's simple to restore if not check google - there are ways to restore imei. Of course You can give phone back to service.
And remember - always have the EFS backup. Mine was useful once

I have bought a second hand phone and live in Europe. If I factory reset the phone or flash a new ROM will I be able to use the phone even though I don't have a Sprint SIM? I remember what a pain it was to hactivate the iPhone. Does it get stuck to activation after fresh install?

Yesterday morning when I picked up my moto x I saw that it showed zero signal. Didn't pay attention since I live in a poor signal area anyway. An nor later when I had to make a call I noticed that the signal was still zero. Went to settings and checked status, it says 0 dBm 99 ASU. I went outside where the signal is usually good, and still nothing. After a couple of restarts still 0dbm 99ASU. Then I tried wife's SIM but the same thing. Even two factory resets didn't help. Took it to the service center and they said it was a hardware failure and I'd have to leave my phone for repairs. Estimated time 1 week!
I'm curious to find out if anyone has experienced something similar. What are the chances of a 'hardware failure'. The service tech didn't sound knowledgeable at all, he struggled to even do a factory reset. He kept saying my SIM was faulty and I had to demonstrate to him that my SIM works on a different phone before he came to the hardware failure theory.
I'm worried, should I have left my phone with him?

Yes, I tried my wife's SIM and same thing. But I believe that the phone must display signal strength even without a SIM. In this case there is nothing, like as if there was no radio at all.

Try this download phone testing by diewland go to phone information and toggle turn off radio and press it again to turn it on

My original X lost ability to get a 4g connection. It would drop all cellular connections about every 5 minutes then only connect to 3g. I tried new SIM, but ultimately had to warranty it out for a new X. Just my experience... No problems with new unit.

I hope they fix my phone or give me a new one. Im stuck using the nano SIM in an Atrix 4g now. Wedged it in place with a piece of card. Now and then especially when I walk, the SIM works its way out and I have to keep re seating it.

I have an HTC ONE m7 that is about a year old and is rooted and running omni rom. It has been rooted for about 6 months and I had been running cyanogonmod and everything was running fine until last week when I got the dreaded sim card error. a restart of the phone did the trick. 2 days later it happened again and this time a restart did not work and my phone was out of commission for about 4 hours as I tried everything to fix it (including a full wipe of cyanogen and a fresh install with omni rom) with no success. Then one random time I restarted it popped back up and everything was fine. Now over the last few days it keeps giving me the sim error and only goes away after random amounts of time and restarts. If the error does go away and I have service. I get 4g LTE for about 10 minutes before I lose the ability to make any calls/texts or have any data connectivity. I have tried the scotch tape trick with no success as well as changing my APN. I'm sadly starting to think this may be a hardware issue.
Any thoughts??

Test your phone with another sim card
test your sim card in another phone
If the phone is defective, send it for repair
If the sim is defective, buy another one.

The sim is working in another phone and a working sim is also not working with my phone.. Any thoughts on where to send it for repair? AT&T said they will not replace it and HTC said the same
Why did they say they wouldn't?

apparently ATT said they wouldn't because the phone is just over a year old and they only replace devices that are under a year. And htc said that isnt a known issue and because I bought the phone over a year ago, they couldn't help me

well you can send your phone for repair to htc even if its more than 1 year old but you'll have to pay for the repair.
Ahhh damn. It sucks but you will have to pay. A lot cheaper than getting a new phone

Yeah its a real bummer. I'm still just confused on why it all of a sudden stopped working. I mean I didn't drop it or get it wet and didn't make any software changes either. Its just odd.
