[Q] Stuck on "Turning Wi-Fi On.." - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I am using a Vivid, it's bootloader is unlocked and it is s-off. I am using the stock ROM and have CWM 5.5.0.4 installed, I tried flashing various kernels, although there's a chance I was not flashing the correct one.
Could I please have some help? I am using the ROM from this post.

Check out Device information
It The kernel display HTC Kernel
That means The various Kernel does't flashed to youi phone
Try another
What about Komizk kernel

You need the bcm.4430 or whatever file out of your stock rom and placed into your new kernels modules folder you will see on similar in there that you can replace it with.. I think every carrier has a different one

i have same problem
until i flash kizmik kernel
now it turn on and not going to turn off and wifi signal not found
my phone : velocity 4G x710s

Try turning airplane mode on and within airplane mode, try turning on wifi hotspot, after that deactivate hotspot, tuen on wifi, and exit airplane mode. Worked for me on my device, as well as my brother in law lg, my sisters htc evo, my gf desire z as well as my past htc sensation

try reflashing the kernel if it doesnt show up in "about phone" then its still S-ON and you'll need to S-OFF it. then it should flash correctly. Have you tried flashing via fastboot?
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and push the kernel modules to system/lib

Having been down this road................................
See my Post here.........
It basically is what causes your issue is your MAC address is gone. Flashin the correct kernel can fix it, or pushing the right file to the right location can probably also fix it. It was the prior that worked for me.

HTC One S - Wi-Fi stuck at "Turning On"
I have an HTC One S (unlocked T-mobile) which runs on stock 4.0.4. And over the last 8 months all I have been doing is looking for a solution for my Wi-Fi issue. It worked perfectly fine initially. But then Wi-Fi suddenly stopped working. I don't remember clearly if this was after an OTA update or not. The Wi-Fi keeps trying to turn on but doesn't go past the "Turning on" phase. I can't even shut it and it drains my battery very fast because the phone never goes to sleep. I don't know if this is a software or hardware issue. I have tried practically everything including a Hard Reset. My phone is not under warranty so I need someone to help me fix this issue. Will a jelly bean update (whenever it does come) solve the issue? Or maybe rooting the phone to CM?

HTC MIUI problem

Hi everyone I have an HTC VIVID with S-ON i put miui 2.9.14 and my sound volume is extremely low especially the in call volume also my gps doesn't work like the Google maps navigation or maps cant connect the gps either does anyone have a solution to the sound or gps issue?
Try to reflash the Rom and try different kernels sometimes helps also.
I've tried everything every time I install a new kernel it either knocks out my wifi or gets stuck on the white htc screen anyone with any ideas?

Which kernels have you tried? And have you performed a full wipe/re-install of the rom for each different kernel you have tried?
Where did you find this version of MIUI? I'd like to try it out...

When having unfixable problems sometimes the only thing that will work is returning to stock. Relock and start all over from the very beginning.

I just installed MIUI 2.9.29 on my Bell Raider (which has a current base of the Rogers ICS RUU). I am S-OFF so I'm sure the kernel flashed fine as part of the rom install, but I went into Settings/About Phone to confirm. It says it is running the faux kernel it comes with (3.0.33-MSM8660-Faux123-v007+)
- Call volume is just fine for me and when it is in Speaker mode it goes pretty loud! However - It doesn't seem to do LTE (dealbreaker for me). I checked the APN. It had everything correct. I only get HSDPA. I even went into the special phone menu and the choices were only GSM or WCDMA (no LTE items listed).
- GPS also seemed to work fine for me. I installed Google Maps from the market, launched it, the GPS icon started flashing in the notification bar, and it detected my exact location pretty quickly.
- The gallery and music player showed duplicates of each photo/song for me. Strange!
I still wonder if it's a kernel issue you're having. When you do a fresh flash of MIUI, and boot into it, go into Settings/About Phone, scroll down, and check what it says for Kernel Version. Also, if you go to flash a different kernel manually via fastboot (immediately after a fresh install of the rom), go into that same menu and see if the kernel you flahed is listed.
If the kernels don't seem to be flashing, I wonder if your phone has to experience an 'insecure' kernel flash first (this can be done by flashing Kozmik's 'stockish' kernel via fastboot). I'm not sure if this even applies to S-ON phones though...
I do agree with drwario though - starting fresh from scratch (re-locking bootloader and running your specific stock ICS RUU) is a good idea.
you are s-on? sounds like what happens when you dont flash kernel correctly. try to flash the kernel using fastboot and see if it fixes it
Relock your bootloader then reflash it to stock with no interruptions then just go back unlock the bootloader and reflash your Rom make sure that if u are s-on to flash the kernel.via fastboot

WiFi Issues

I was hoping that maybe someone could help me troubleshoot my problem.
I recently flashed a new ROM and since then my WiFi has been acting up. It will turn off then instantly turn back on and sometimes take longer than normal to turn on. This is causing quite a problem as it doesn't allow for a stable connection.
At first I thought it could be the router but even when I'm out of range, in town, if the Wi-Fi is enabled it still turns off and on.
So I've tried flashing a custom kernel, and several different ROMs and even the Radio. Nothing seems to fix it. I have wiped and formatted everything I can think of several times but regardless of ROM the Wi-Fi still turns off and on constantly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That happned to me when i flashed stock recovery of older rom version, for example: I had 1.29.401.16 rom with 1.29.401.7 recovery... Probably you have the same issue
Sent from my HTC One™
So you think it could be the recovery at fault?
Yes, are you running your htc with custom recovery, if yes, the problem is not in the recovey

I am running clockworkmod recovery. Any more ideas?

[Q] CDMA radio broken?

I'm having an issue with my HTC One. I had been on Paranoid Android, working fine for several weeks (so I didn't flash the wrong version for my Sprint hardware). Last week, I was suddenly showing roaming, with an empty triangle for the signal bars. I tried messing with the RUM/SIM/NV settings, but it didn't resolve the issue. I ended up reflashing back to stock 1.29 via the RUU, but still showed an 'x' next to my signal bars. I then let it update to 1.31 (damn...) but that didn't solve the issue either. If I go into the Network info under About phone, I show 0 signal strength if LTE is disabled. If I enable LTE, then I get signal, and data. Only CDMA is not working.
If I go into the MSL menu (##<MSL>#), it shows 'No' for both MDN and MSID. If I try to enter them, I get a message "Commit Failed" when I try to save them.
Support at the Sprint store wouldn't even look at it because the bootloader was unlocked.
Has anyone had issues with the CDMA radio failing? Anything else to try?

I would take it back to another Sprint store. They are suppose to take your phone and run the RUU. There was a posting from a Sprint employee a few weeks back with the internal company policy - which was to do a reset or run the RUU to put the phone back to stock to determine if it is a software or hardware issue. If hardware issue, Sprint is suppose to then replace the phone.
All androir 4.3 based rom have some data or signal issues with cdma ... I just go back to 4.2, everything is fine. If you have a signal issue with stock rom you should ask for a hardware replacement.

I've never had a 4.3 ROM on this phone. Was on a 4.2 AOSP ROM, and now I'm back on HTC One 1.29 (after upgrading to 1.31, and then RUU'ing back to 1.29 again). No CDMA reception on anything. I'll try another Sprint store. The guy at the one I went to was pretty pompous. He asked if the phone had been rooted. I figured honesty would be best, since he would know that the bootloader had been unlocked as soon as he went into HBoot.

Try changing the mobile network mode to something else in the setting page, then change it back, sometimes it works ...

Airplane mode on and then off. This fixes the issue.

Issue solved
Closing the loop. I found the issue. I must have somehow changed from NV to RUIM/SIM in the Mobile Subscription settings while on a CM based ROM. When I reflashed to stock using the 1.29 (and then 1.31) stock RUU, it doesn't change this setting in the radio. And then there is no access to this setting to correct it in the stock ROM (as far as I could find... maybe there's a hidden ## option). To fix the issue, I had to reflash back to a CM based ROM so that I could access the mobile subscription settings, change it back to NV, and then reflash back to stock and let it do the Handsfree activation. After that, everything is working again.

Would you be able to walk me through that process? I am having the same issue. Where would I find those settings after flashing over to a CM based ROM?
edit: NM Pretty easy to find on a CM based ROM.

WiFi Not Connecting On Any Network

Recently my phone stopped connecting to all WiFi networks. When I turn WiFi on it says "obtaining IP address" and then instead of connecting says "saved". The phone is running stock ICS and is rooted. If you need anymore technical details I'd be happy to provide them
Here is what I have tired so far
-ensured airplane mode is off
-rebooting the phone
-pulling the battery
-resetting my router (i really believe this is a phone problem as it happens with my wifi at work as well)
-running scripts in the terminal
-ran the FXR Wifi Fix and rescue app
-set IP to static
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Uhh...
A reboot didn't fix it?
Is your bootloader locked... Maybe try a new kernel if that's an option...

Turns out the bootloader was unlocked. Just re-locked the bootloader, but still no WiFi. Do you recommend any kernels?
You're sure you haven't been playing with Roms and Kernels? If you're S-On and you start trying roms without flashing the boot.img file associated with the rom separately, you get similar wifi connectivty issues as you are describing.

Thanks for your reply. In the past, around 3-4 months ago I was heavily messing with ROMS (not kernels though). Now I am on stock ROM, I flashed the boot.img of the stock ROM before I flashed it and WiFi was working for 3-4 months. Just a couple of days ago it stopped working and I have no idea why.
Confirmed that phone won't connect to any WiFi network
Just drove down to McDonalds and tried to connect to their free WiFi. Same results, no connection. Any further help is appreciated!
I blame poor coding on HTC...
Unlock your bootloader and flash faux's kernel via fastboot and then the zip to get proper WiFi drivers...

[Q] Tethering Problem

Hey guys,
I have a Z1 C903, which doesn't work as a wifi tether nor bluetooth tether. I can turn it on, and other devices can see it, however when trying to connect, the signal drops completely.
If I wait the signal will restart and become full strength, where I will need to manually connect, which proceeds to the signal disappearing again. I've tried unsecure, wpa2, wpa to which I have no luck either. Devices such as laptop will say limited connection, whereas android tablets and phones will refuse to connect and will say "Saved, secured with WPA2" or something else if i change the password method.
I've tried searching for any reports of wifi tethering not working, but the problems seem to be different from my situation.
More details on my device:
It has an unlocked bootloader
Now running Paranoid android
Problem occurred on stock 4.3, nut 4.4 (I assumed it was a glitch on Sony's drivers, and have waited for months now for a patch)
Could a faulty TA do this?
Any ideas?
Am I f***ed?
Cheers

Flash your phone by flash tools including wipe apps log and cache and system
It should solve your problem
And of course first re-lock your BL and flash to stock Rom

Sorry about late reply, I am out in urban areas without internet connection. I'll try doing this tonight.
Am I right in assuming all Z1 CM ROMs have this problem, if I must install a stock-based ROM?

Oh, sorry I forgot to tell you
You should use stock rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191&page=145
Go here and fun your phone model and download the version and region you want

You can try to change the name of your phone (Network SSID) to a simpler form instead of default.
I got it working
I got it working thanks to your suggestion, Saeed.
I flashed the stock ftf from the mega thread and that restored my tethering capabilities. I then proceeded to reinstall the ParanoidRom and now the tethering works as well.
I'm not sure what happened, but I'd assume something went wrong when upgrading to 4.3 and the problem stayed when I then upgraded again to 4.4 and then to paranoid.
Thanks
