Hey there everyone. I've been working on this for a couple of days (since I'm pretty much an idiot with anything beyond web surfing), but with the help of some forum members and various other how-to guides, I figured it out. I split it up into individual frames, picked out the ones I wanted, converted them to JPGs, renamed them, and rewrote the desc.txt file. I can write a more detailed how-to since most of the things online are more about how to change the animation than how to create one. Just ask, and I'll put it up later. It's a short clip from a Youtube video of the trailer for Super Mario Galaxy 2. And without further ado:

-Here is a mirror, since someone posted at androidforums that there was a tracer of some sort. I've no idea what that means, but thought I would offer another downloading solution so people could go that route if necessary.
http://rapidshare.com/files/395413639/bootanimation.zip
*Now down to a slim and trim fighting weight of 1.68MB. Just a bit better than my original file with super huge PNGs that was 21.1MB. heh
Feel free to use it as you wish. Just say thanks or something. Enjoy!
Now with more preview!

PS. Mine runs and looks better, but at least this will give you an idea before you download.

Appreciate that good sir. I'd love to learn photoshop sometime but to the uninitiated, it seems very daunting. I do have GIMP, but haven't really messed with it too often besides resizing some wallpapers. I enjoyed learning how to do this though, and feel that each new thing I figure out, the more inclined I am to try something else. Anyway, let me know what you think of it...
Hey nice looking boot. I downloaded the file to the sd card of my eris and tried to flash it but it wouldnt load it aborted. Am I missing something here on how to install. Thanks
Thanks man! If you are rooted then it is super easy. Just install to SD card, then use something like Root Explorer(I think Astro should be able to do this too) to move it into the data/local folder. Also, you can put it into the system/media folder. I haven't found any difference on how it runs whichever way you want to go. If you aren't rooted yet (what are you waiting for?? lol j/k) then you have to download SDK and push it into the data/local folder since you won't have access to the system/media one. There are a couple of tutorials floating around to give you some better direction or if you are still having trouble, then PM me and I'll see if I can't direct you better so we don't fill up the regular post.
Looks pretty good, probably good thing ya got filesize down .

Thanks Magnum. It took me awhile to figure out how to shrink the original PNGs I made from 21.1 to 10.2MB, and then another forum member showed me that I could use JPGs and then it went from 10.2 to the current 1.68. Very happy with the results. Getting some help with including the audio, then it'll really be sweet.
I tried moving this into system/media folder where my other boot animation is but I got permissions not allowed. Ive got read only permissions on my bootanimation using taintedvanilla. Any suggestions?

I'm not overly familiar with that Rom, but I would suggest using Root Explorer. It's an awesome app. I don't have any issues changing to Read/Write with it. I just mount the zip on the SD card then long press, choose move and paste it into the appropriate folder. I found it worked best for me to delete the first boot animation instead of just replacing it (results may vary). If you don't want to go that route then you might want to use SDK and push it into the data/local folder. I know that either folder will work for the boot, but not sure which folder it reads first so can't be certain this will be the answer if you can't delete the other boot animation that is already installed. Let me know if this works for you...
this is awesome thanks bunches
You're very welcome. I have a Mario boot screen picture too that kind of goes with the animation. PM if you're interested. If so, let me know if you need help installing it. There is a guide and it's pretty easy, but just in case.

It's still allowing read only permissions. I adb pushed the bootanimation.zip into both system/media and data/local but it still boots with the old animation. Oh well I guess...

You might want to try this (if you havn't already) to fix the read only permissions...
Code:
adb remount
then...
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
I've done that, I'll just have to play with it more when I have time. Does adb push overwrite the existing file on the phone if the are named the same?

Pretty sure it does, if your getting somthing like permission denied read only after trying to push, it probably isn't going through. Wouldn't think you'd get the read only pushing to data/local though.

No idea why at all, unless for some reason the files didn't copy over... have you tried flashing again? The script doesn't do anything except remove the old sound files and add the new ones.
Updated this with new FroYo sounds (some Samsung ui sounds). The .zip is not yet CWM3 compatible, that will come soon. If you have changed the TW_Battery_caution.ogg to TW_Battery_caution.ogg.bak or removed it, etc., then you just need to remove that file. This zip includes a TW_Battery_caution.ogg.bak already, as it got included when I pulled the sounds from my phone.
I took the liberty of updating this package.
Changes:
CWM Script now properly erases all sound files in /system/media/audio prior to copying.
Deleted Ding.ogg and Noisy_One.ogg from Ringtones as they are identical to Noises1.ogg.
Edited title tag of Noises1.ogg from Noisey One to Noisy One.

any chance of converting it from amend --> edify?
for those of you who use CWM3 and want this on your phone.
Extract contents of zip to C:\
Open CMD prompt
Browse to ADB folder
adb push C:\epic-nexus-moment_sounds_froyo_signed\system /sdcard/system
adb shell
#su
#remount rw
#cp -r /sdcard/system/media /system
edit: I flashed your zip on my epic (went back to old CWM and RFS) and it removed the system sound when you click icons and the dialpad sound

Dialpad and clicking sounds still work here. Make sure your system volume is not set to 0.
This would be awesome if it was made Edify Scrpitagible.. yes.. scriptigible. I just dropped it via root explorer into the /system/ folder
I'm a newbie to flashing with the Epic.... already bricked my wife's phone once. =)
I upgraded to EH17 using Odin and apparently that messed up all her ringtones and notification sounds. I wanted to know if there was a way I could flash this file using CWM 3.1.0.1. I get an error msg saying that amend scripting is not supported.

Take the files out with 7 zip and open a zip file (from a theme!! don't use the srf zip or any other "rom" zips they wipe data) you know works on cwm3. Make a backup and delete all the folders inside besides META-INF then take your old zip and copy the files over to the new zip, of course without the META-INF. Just to clarify you want the new zips META-INF folder only!
Cd's or tapes?
Noob here ....I' am unable to find a zip file which is not a rom file...i wanted to follow the above mentioned procedure of modifying the zip file for using it on CWM3x. Can you tell me which is teh appropriate zip file which i can use for modification so that i can restore the default ringtones of EPIC 4G.
I flashed the legendary rom and saw that many ringtones have been taken off...i want to have stock ringtones back on my system
Grab a flashable theme zip and use that.....
Just make sure inside that zip once you delete out the "theme" contents you leave the META-INF file/folder...
Then make a folder of you own in called
/system
Then inside /system make one called
/media
then inside /system/media/ make one called
/audio
Then place the appropriate folders containing either
/alarms
/notifications
/ringtones
/ui
inside that /audio directory....
Close it up and flash it...
If that is too much for you to follow... Just use this zip I'm providing below..
Blank Flashable
Just open it with WinRaR or WinZip and you will see all the folders in place exactly as I described... Place your contents in the appropriate folders and flash..
followed exactly as mentioned above, downloaded the zip file, opened it and copied the tones as suggested and flashed my phone....the tones did not turn up in the list but i ended up loosing facebook, gmail and couple of other apps !....what could have gone wrong ?

Not sure... There is nothing there in that "Blank Flashable" except for the META-INF file with your standard install scripts and then I created the folders & path to the media/audio/
Not to sure what you could have done to cause FB, GMail and others to be lost as a result of that zip file...
BTW, you did make a Nandroid Backup before flashing as normal rule of thumb correct?
FYI, any other devs, etc... willing to verify the zip I posted has nothing to do with erasing/removing those apps described by the member please feel free to do so...
I've been searching through here and over on RootzWiki for a Droid 3 copy of BlurEmail.apk. I haven't successfully been able to locate the file or a dump containing the file that I'm confident will work. I am a noob and I apologize for that, hopefully this question hasn't been asked and answered a million times, though if it has I can't find it. I've been looking for the last three hours I promise, I just can't find what I'm looking for.
I have BlurEmail.apk and BlurEmail.odex that I know works on my phone out of my backup prior to installing Steel Droid. Can I deodex this myself, or am I able to just drop both of these files into /system/app and be back in business?
You would have to deodex to use in a rom that is deodexed all ready.
I had to do this as well, needed email on steel droid. Just download Monster Rom bloated, and then you can pull it out of there.
1) Obtain the Deodexed install from RootzWiki. (Or if you have a back-up, that will work too!)
2) Extract the zip file (I downloaded mine to the PC and unzipped it there).
3) Open the extracted folder, then navigate to /system/app.
4) Locate the BlurEmail.apk file (not to be confused with blur_email.apk) and copy it.
5) Paste the file to the SD card or internal storage.
6) Using a file explorer (such as Root Explorer),copy the file from where you put it and paste to the /system/app directory (you may need to mount as RW first).
7) Set the permissions to rw-r--r-- by long-pressing and selecting "Permissions" (this is if you use Root Explorer, other programs may vary). Make sure owner has Read and Write, while Group and Others have Read only.
8) Reboot phone, and enjoy!
***NOTE THIS IS NOT MY FIND. I WAS HELPED WITH SAME ISSUE. I AM NOT COPYING ANYONES HARD WORK***
thats your answer. When it says locate deodex locate the stock deodex not the deodex debloated version. Follow steps. It works. I did it. And im running sd3.

I'm using the email.apk file taken from a Desire Z cyanogen rom, I consider it way better than blur email because I can mix the accounts and assign a custom color for every inbox.
I've just deleted the blur email and copied the email.apk in the system/app folder

I had been able to locate that post you quoted for directions on how to do it, which are straight forward. I'm just having trouble finding a BlurEmail.apk, email.apk, or Messaging.apk that when used in coordination with these instructions gets me to a corporate e-mail inbox. I'll keep downloading different ROM's and trying different ones I guess until I can find one that works for me.
If I ever get to that point I'll attach it to a follow-up post so if someone finds themselves in my shoes later they can just pull that down and be set.
Okay, finally found what I needed to get back working with corporate e-mail. I can't attach to this post unfortunately, nor am I allowed to post links in a post so... I'm throwing this archive up on one of my boxes so if someone else needs it they can maybe find it faster than I did.

this link is no longer valid. does anyone have a good one for this file??
I am looking for a working port for CM9 for our die-hard Ace. I ooked for several days and I found only a few threads that even remotely gave me some hope. Is there any such thing at all? Have I overlooked something? I know there is a version for CM10 that is working great.
I stumbled upon this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667854
I flashed the file and it worked but the resolution was too high so the apps were overlapped by the dock.
I would ask a good modder/themer if he could resize the launcher to the resolution needed for our Ace. Btw, I am usin Maclaw's AOSP ICS final.
Thanks in advance.Cheers!
Solved!
After some more research I stumbled upon a post that put an end to my misery!
I got TW5 working on Maclaw's final AOSP version with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724553
You have to follow the steps and everything will be just fine.
A few little hiccups there are though, namely in step 1 of maxx35000's post you have to go to his other post and download the file called "seclauncher2mdpiV1.10_Signed.apk". Although it is stated in the thread I made the mistake of using "seclauncher2_Signed.apk" and the launcher had not the desired resolution for our Ace. I jut note this so people do not get confused as silly me did. Also, the files "AccuweatherDaemon_Signed.apk", "AccuweatherWidget_Main_Signed.apk", "AccuweatherWidget_Signed.apk" and aforementioned "seclauncher2mdpiV1.10_Signed.apk" go into the /system/app folder. Just change the permissions and reboot, no need to install anything.
Another thing is that people might have doubts about to where put the files. All files got the /system folder. So, if the post says that you should put a certain file in "lib", it is meant that you put the file in /system/lib. For example, upon copying the extracted files of "system.zip" (there should be 3 folders in the system folder of the zip, namely "lib", "framework" and "etc" and some files in those folders as well) onto your SD card, the files in the "framework" folder have to be copied to /system/framework.
If you follow the steps in the OP,everything will work out just fine.
I did not develop/compile any of this, I just posted a link with some more detailed instructions (for noobs like me). All the credit goes to maxx3500. He deserves the thanks, not me!
Cheers!
P.S. Mods may remove the thread if deemed unimportant
I figure out the root to the problem some people are having with new 4.2.2 zoe themes giving them the error :
"unable to create video because there is a problem with the original media files"
The audio files that zoe uses for some random reason are messed up for the new themes. They have a file size of 9 bytes when there are normally 1.05 mb. So i replaced music_atlantis.mp3 (one of the new themes) with another mp3 files that also lasted 32 seconds, and changed the name of it music_atlantis.mp3 . When i went to zoe the theme worked but of course with a different audio.
If one of you guys that have all themes working could be kind to upload those audio files it would be great I'm sure I am not the only one having that problem.
this is the location : /sdcard/Android/data/com.htczeroediting/files/zeroeditor/resources/music
I uploaded two screenshots one with the error and the other with the files i believe need to be overwritten with the correct ones. Thanks
Hi, go into the 'Android/Data/com.htc.zeroediting/files/zero_editor/resources/' folder and rename the 'music' folder to something different and then try the new highlights again and it will recreate a new music folder with all the new highlights working, then you can go back and delete the old music folder.

worked like a charm!!! thanks
beautiful fix... now I don't really want to erase my entire SD card anymore... lol Moved everything else over so it should be fine... hopefully lol
When I change the name of the music folder, it does create anther folder titled "music", but still has the same corrupt .mp3 files in it. Only six of the files work, the others are 9 or 10 bytes.
I'm on 4.1.2, and these files seem to be included also.
I actually landed here after tracking down a mediaserver wakelock issue I'm having. Turns out the .mp3s being used for highlights might be the culprit, but I can't seem to fix them or delete them without them being recreated when I watch a highlight reel. Even if I just delete the corrupt files, they are recreated when I load a highlight reel up.
I'll upload the folder that I have for music just overwrite it and see if it helps

Thanks for the help. It looks like a few of the files you provided are still not the right size (music_brooksburg.mp3, music_fields.mp3, and music_monterey.mp3).
I copied it all over regardless, but there's still only six options showing up in the highlight reel (Polaris, Avalon, Vega, Eifel, Burbia, Islandia). Maybe the option will only appear in 4.2.2?
I checked the files after using the highlight reel and the system didn't change any of the mp3's I copied over, so there's that.
I'm more concerned with getting the files right to help with wakelock, even though I'm not sure this is culprit.
Yea the new themes you'll need 4.2.2 . And yes those 3 are still only 9bytes . But they are not themes so they are not used therefor they shouldnt be giving you problems

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Highlights worked--I think???--before activating my phone. But once the Carrier package was installed (Sprint) this feature only had the hangouts "Pop" file.
I had written to a friend who reviewed the One for PC Magazine and HTC but never got any response for getting these files. I really appreciate this rollsrd!

I tried the renaming Music folder trick. It did not work until I shutdown gallery and then reopened. Probably obvious, but just thought I'd mention it.
Renaming the folder did the trick for me also.
