odin failed!

Hi, i have galaxy tab:
PDA: XWJMG
PHONE: XXJMA
Now i started ODIN 1.7 and selected p1000-mck-r3-ext4-cwm.tar in PDA. I didnt select Re-Partition and did not tick anything and did not select PIT file. Now when i connect it says 'added' and when i click on start it goes through the process and says "failed' in the end. Now my tab shows yellow triangle on it. Help

Do you by any chance have locked bootloaders? Anyway as long as the computer recognizes your tab you can fix it. Just use search.

I dont know about bootloader, its an untouched piece. Please tell me how to fix this tab... :-(

Look at the stickyes in the gsm tab development. Just download a rom that doesn't contain bootloaders and flash it via odin. Again you can find such roms in the development section. Read read and read again and you will be able to fix your tab. One question, why did you flash your tab in the first place?

You need to dload the P1 hidden pit & full J4 version fw

Is it maybe because the rom you selected says cwm? Isn't that supposed to be flashed in clockwork mod?

Thanks guys for all your help, i flashed pit to my phone via ODIN and piece is alive and working now and gave the tab back to my friend. Now just need to know for the future i have ODIN v1.31 and P1_EUR.pit. I selected pit and P1000JPJJ2 on PDA. Now just need to know before flashing do i need to select repartition?

As i read through the tutorial you only select repartition when you are flashing with the pit file!
If you are installing firmware, Flash the custom kernel that is linked on the same page as the overcome rom 2.13 without partition, Then hold vol up and power will put you in recovery mode, You can flash the rom through there useing the install zip from sdcard option but you must copy the custom rom onto the sd card first....

Well, i know how to flash custom rom, just wanted to flash the firmware through odin since it seems easier...i downloaded P1000JPJJ2 from the following site and it says no repartition, my problem solved..thanks anyway

i have the same problem like the first post. I am using P1000 for asia (malaysia). now i can do nothing with my tab but odin still able to detect it. anyone could help forward me the link for the said rom without bootloader. the link given in the previous post already dead.

I had the same problem earlier and then i learned that bootloader for stock JM is signed so it show error ... completion (write) failed ... when you try to upgrade or install custom rom using Odin. I reverted back to resurrect my tab by Odin with pit (follow pit version) and check repartition, auto reboot. It works for me but not sure if it will work for others. Good luck.

[Q] Urgent! Odin Stuck on boot.bin

Hi there, first time using odin to flash firmware on my galaxy s (used CWM for everything), and what do you know, it seems to have crashed
Can't link to the guide I was following since I'm new, but it was for XXJVU firmware, I was previously on Cyanogenmod 7.
So now I'm stuck on boot.bin, and have no idea what to do. I read on a galaxy SII thread that if I didn't tick repartition (I didn't) and didnt specify a .pit file (Unfortunately I did this) I was safe.
Should I unplug my phone and try to start Odin again? Or is there something else I should try?
Please help

try again.........................1} unplug ur phone and remove battery then again go to download mode......and connect it via pc { note,u must install galaxy s usb driver on ur pc,and remove kies from pc}....now do the process again.

thanks, same thing is happening again, so now I'm downloading XXJVT firmware, as long as I didn't tick re partition I should be able to fix it right?
Edit: Third try is the charm, got past boot.bin now on XXJVU, thanks for the help!

[Q] Cannot boot or enter recovery (CM9 20120425)

Flashed today's CM9 nightly as usual through CWM recovery (ultimate-kernel-cleaning-script, ROM, GApps), came to the point of rebooting and am now stuck with the white-on-black Galaxy S GT-I9000, SAMSUNG screen.
I can't get into recovery, but I can get into download mode.
Where should I go from here?

I am in the exact same situation. I really didn't want my first post on here to be a beg for help but I promise I'll contribute after
My computer can detect the device when I plug it in but I can't access it from explorer. I am running good old XP. I have done a bit of googling and it looks like I need Odin so I've got that. How are you doing with it PrinterElf? I'll keep this thread updated with my progress, hopefully it might help you too.

I think you, like me, can get it to boot to download, I can get Heimdall to connect, but have no idea what I should be flashing to get back to recovery again!

I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick and have been flashing new ROMs using ROM Manager so this is the first time I've heard of Heimdall. I'm downloading it now.
I'll let you know if I find those files, I can't find a useful thread anywhere

Followed adsdf's instructions and Odin seemed to think it had done the job. Tried booting into recovery but it's still 'eating a big bowl of boot-loops' I'm not sure if Windows is talking to the phone though so I'm downloading the drivers now (give me a virtual slap if I should have done this already).

Okay, she'll boot into recovery but I don't have a ROM or any backups on her. I can't seem to be able to browse the phone in Windows Explorer even if I hit mount USB storage in recovery. I've managed to transfer 'fixrecovery.tar.md5' from Odin so I should be able to flash a ROM in the same way... right? Everywhere I search all I can find is ROMs in zips I've seen threads where people have flashed ROMs in .md5 format using Odin, where are they getting these ROMs? It seems like the solution for me.

@intratech is tar and flashed in PDA(Odin) and i think darkys rom is also a .tar, to one of them

I think in your case it would be best to go back to a stock rom first so you have a clean base to start from.
- Download any rom from
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9000&r=1#regiona
for example I9000XXJVU. these are all odin flashable
- In Odin: "CODE..." or "PDA..." as PDA, "PHONE..." or "MODEM..." as PHONE and "...CSC..." as CSC with PIT 512 with repartition checked
(Im sure you have done this before, right? if not, theres a lot of instructions on that out there)
- after that phone should boot
- flash a proper kernel and rom if you want

Right, back and firing on most cylinders, and this is how I did it!
Download and flash this with Odin

Reboot into download mode again, flash this with Odin

Reboot into CWM recovery
Install CM9 nightly & GApps
Reboot

Just followed PrinterElf's method and have just rooted my phone again using Odin. I'm about to flash the latest CM9 nightly, I wish I could take the screen unlock with me, it works well on that stock ROM.

You're left with only one option: Odin. Download any stock rom with a stock bootloader to repair your recovery mode,flash it using Odin, then flash a semaphore or midnight control kernel.

kinda same problem
previously was on teamhacksung b17 with gapps 20120304. no MODIFICATIONS!!!
today i updated with the latest nightly (update-cm-9-20120427-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd-signed) with same gapps as above.
after reboot it did some updating gapps and loaded into home screen.
i turned the phone off becoz i wanted to insert the extSD and simcard which i removed before the update process.
second time i booted the phone, it started giving me bootloops. cant go into recovery either. only download mode available.
so i opened odin and put all the files in their places connected the phone in download mode on. windows did not recognize the device..... installed samsung usb drivers v1.4.2.2 ... tried it again. problem has not yet been resolved, any suggestions veteran people.

Can't access recovery

ok so here is a nice problem for some reason my device (ICSsgs rom 4.2) lost the abillity to enter into recovery it worked fine last time I checked but now it isn't, so I tried downloading rom manager and using it to reflashCWM recovery but still can't access the recovery.
I do have access to download mod, any suggestion as to how I could gain access to the recovery as I want to falsh a new rom.

OK managed to go to CM9 at last, I will write a short guide in this thread when I"ll comeback home so if anyone gets stuck in this kind of situation could have a quick refrence.

Just flash stock gingerbread version via Odin

ok so I flashed a gingerbread and then used the CM wiki to get CWM recovery, but I have a slight problem, no matter what rom I try to flash I get this error message:
E:Can't open /mnt/sdcard/romfile.zip (bad) installation aborted.
I tried flashing several roms, CM7,CM9,AOKP build 36 and dark knight 5.5 all give the same message.
I also tried downloading the latest CWM from the CWM site and this time it started installing but it's stuck on replacing stock recovery with Clockworkmod reovery...
any ideas how could I flash a new rom? I don't have access to Odin just Heimdall (linux user) and I have no idea how to make it accept Odin packages.

Help me, my galaxy note N7000 died...(Formware upgrade ancountered an issue.)

Hello everybody.
I have a problem in my gt-N7000.
I tried to install the CM10, install normal.
I installed Gapps also normal.
When I went to wipe it crashed.
Now no more enters recovery mode, download mode only.
When I turn it only gets in this mensage:
"Formware upgrade ancountered an issue. Pease select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I've tried to pass other Stock Roms via Odim, but always hangs Odim.
I do not know what else to do, will my phone still has solution?

And have you tried that recovery mode in Kies?

Yes, but the Kies does not recognize and is carrying the cel.

I do not know if I can answer all your questions ... I did not root the phone.
I tried going through the kernel odin said that he caught up and in factoryms.img, as stated in the attached image.
Do not know if this is of great relevance but I can not give Wipe the recovery mode, it also crashes and resets the phone.

2. The place where odin is stuck could indicate a brick. So you need to be precise in the info you give.
3. Did you use cwm.zip to install the rom directly on a non rooted phone?

If ODIN is working for you,
Get your mobile flashed with Philz Kernel by putting the TAR file on PDA.
Enter Philz Kernel in recovery and flash a ROM of your choice.
If you can't then u r a superbrick.

I did what you said.
Enter the field arquivo.pit PIT odin and rom in PDA. I marked the re-partition option and it hangs in the same place.
Will my cell phone died?

Seems you system partition got corrupted. Do you have warranty?

I was also thinking that. Unfortunately it is no longer under warranty.
The techniques assists solve this kind of problem?

Do you still have access to recovery? If yes is it cwm recovery or stock android 3e recovery?
