[Q] Bootloop after CM9 flash - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
Rooted my I9000 today and sorted out the 3e problem and installed CWM recovery. All problems averted thus far. Installed CM9, got to the start up screen and it said it needed a reboot. Since i clicked restart its been bootlooping.
I can't get it into recovery mode but i can get it in to download mode. Can anyone tell me (as i'm a massive noob) what i need to do to fix this simply?
Thoughts? Help?

Try to pull out battery for a few secand..insert back n enter recovery mode using 3 button combo..reflash cm9 rom n try to reboot..if happen again..revert back to stock rom..

If u are 1st time flash to ics..it need to flash twice..first for flash ics recovery and second for flash ics rom..

Flash a ginger custom(with cwm) kernel through ODIN and reflash cm9 twice.

[Q] Won't boot up!

Hi
Just used the CyanogenMod Wiki tutorial to try and install ClockworkMod, however after downloading the kernel onto the device, it doesn't start up now. Doesn't flash into recovery or boot up at all, just keeps flashing the first "Galaxy S GT-I900" screen until you pull the battery. Any ideas on how to get my phone working again? Or at least what I might've done wrong?
Thanks!
I guess u flashed the wrong file. Try getting to recovery. Keep holding vol-up +home+ power till screen lights up. Then reflash ur ROM.
Else reflash a GB ROM with ticking partition via Odin.
Let me know if it helped

I can't actually get to recovery at all, I was trying to install recovery in the first place. I am only able to access the download via USB part.
Flash latest GB ROM via Odin, preferably pre-rooted, so that it has CWM recovery.
And when you flash, make sure u tick re-partition in Odin and use 512.pit file.
Hit thanks if helpful

^^ What he said, I just got an i9000 from a friend that is having the boot problem and I'm trying to fix it, but almost all of the links are outdated.
here is a recovery kit containing ezodin, ezbase rom, root kernel and .txt instructions, download, unzip, read and fash....any problems/queries post back here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d382m2kyorzum16/ezbase recovery kit gb.zip
you will end up with a stripped rooted gb rom from which you can then go on to flash a custom rom

Did the flash go ok, did it boot up after initial room flash, and then did it bit after kernel flash?

The flash went well, it didn't boot up fully after the flash, it just rebooted and went to the battery charging screen

What do you want to flash? If you want to flash slim go to website and follow instructions, you will need to get a Cm9 nightly also, then base, essentials, and gapps, and get them onto your sd card, then do the flashing as per instructions on the website
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
i did the same thing when i flashed my first kernel. Your just bootlooping, this is no biggie. Also the CWM is packaged witht the kernel so thats why you cant get into it. Just flash CF root first this is the guide to get to CM9
1. root w/super1click OR Go and straight flash a kernel such as CF root via ODIN
2. flash ICS via CWM
3. Flash new Kernel like Devil from CWM

RESOLVED galaxy note bricked not working after flashing Philz 3.5 kernel?

i was on jelly bean leak xxls7 so for flashing rocket rom v3 i used Philz 3.5 kernel for xxls7 but after that the screen went off & when i turn on the device only samsung logo appears after that nothing comes on screen .
when i using odin to install philz 2.7 the process is stuck on setup connection & i am not even able to use recovery as there is nothing visible on the screen .
what to do????????????/a
i have tried most of versions of odin to flash stock ics but no luck always stuck on setup connection !!
one more thing i want to ask is when i enter in download mode it say OFFICIAL BINARY INSTALLED so if i go to service centre can i claim my warranty ?
remove the battery for a while and try to boot again. If nothing happens, remove battery, reinsert and this time press vol down + power + home for a while till you see the galaxy note logo, and leave it. connect to PC and check if odin sees it. If yes, try to flash the kernel again and check, if not then flash a rom.

i did all of this but process using odin stuck on setup connecction.
when you press the 3 button combo, the you will reach a confirmation screen, then you need to press vol up to confirm. only then it will proceed. may be that's why the odin cannot connect.

Although you can see it, it's probably there. so just take your time and do. don't hurry.

there is no change in the kernel it's just the recovery that has changed. so it is compatible. has someone answered your query you posted in philz thread?

It did happen to me for the first time when I flash the xxls7. Go to download mode and flash a stock rom. After U have restore your phone. Flash Hardcore Kernel V7. and remember to do 3 wipe. Boot to Recovery and Flash the rom first then the Philz kernel. I did it without problem and have a nice Jelly Bean rom. Good luck and Enjoy.
there are two different threads by phill giving two different things. did you take from the right thread ? just making sure

[Q] Flashing CM9,1

Well,
I have a Galaxy Note on hands trying to install CM9.1. It was with Official rom ICS 4.0.3. I flashed it without doing the 3 wipes, and after I flashed the rom i tried to wipe data/factory reset. Then the phone would turn off everytime. So, I tought it must be because I didn't flash, then I'm trying to go back to GB, like the tutorial we have in XDA, but I'm stuck at NAND Write Start! Cache.img, and it doesn't proceed, no error messages.
What should I do?
help!
was the 4.0.3 rooted? did you have CWM with kernel or did you use CWM.zip?

why?
CWM.zip file is known to cause bricks. What kernel where you on? do you remember installing a custom kernel?

also it would be good it you can post the screen shot of odin .. how you selected the rom files and where.

Well
I was with Official Firmware 4.0.3. Then:
1. Installed Super SU
2. Installed CWM.zip
3. Installed CM9.1
4. Wipe data/factory Reset
5. Auto reboot the device, and styck on boot screen
6. Back to Recovery
6.1 Installed Hydracore 7.0 STD
7. Wipe cache and Wipe Dalwik
8. Tried to wipe Data/factory Reset
9. Auto-reboot and yet locked on boot screen
10 Download Mode
11. trying to install GB official rom and locked in Cache writing.
I need help because it is my boss's phone. I have a galaxy note and because of this procedure that worked fine on mine I did that.
Any help to solve this hard brick?
Anyone? I need help
Really desperate here.
Installing a rom using temp cwm.zip could have done the trick to brick your phone. Anyhow. Could you paste the odin logs.

oh,
I'm not anymore in the PC where I tried Odin. But the logs were pretty usual, stopping at NAND Write Start
like this image
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1224997&stc=1&d=1343392025
And I also tried to install ICS room 4.0.3. That went on till factoryfs.img, then stoped.
Super Brick? Really? How's that possible?

The stopping at "factoryfs.img" in combination with using the temporary recovery in cwm.zip is typical for a bricked device.
Please read hg42's thread for checking the bad sectors and for a workaround by repartitioning (this will exclude the bad parts from using it). But first check the eMMC with his method for errors and real confirmation of the brick.
A complete repair is only possible with a replacement of the motherboard by Samsung.

Xperia x8 Kernel logo stuck

Phone : Xperia x8
The flashed kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136211
So after unlocking bootloader, i flashed that kernel.
I restarted phone and now "nAa Kernel" logo comes up, and i'm stuck there. My phone won't boot longer.
At bottom it says " CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.8"
My phone won't connect to my computer either...
So what can i do? I tried to go into recovery but didn't work
Nothing happens when i press the back button...

I Wiped:
Dalvik/ART Cache

Internal Storage

Then it restarted and stuck on the Samsung Logo..
Then Tried to Install This ROM: Hyperdrive RLS5
Step by Step as advised in the forum.

Then I Tried This T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920T to Stock 5.1.1 Lollipop Firmware using Odin3_v3.10.7 but it Fails

Yup, there was no kernel installed with your rom and you erupted the old one...flash stock modified, arter 21, or latest available skyhigh kernel and you'll boot...OR find a custom rom pkg that includes a kernel...
