backlit keyboard - Motorola Droid 4

Hello. I have been flashing cm9 nightlies and the backlit keyboard doesn't work. Is there a way to turn it back on?

Have you tried toggling the auto brightness? Similar issue here on the droid3, I think it's probably the same fix. Auto brightness needs to be on in order for the backlight to be on.

[Q] Backlight App?

Hi:
Is there any app like Lumos (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450318) for Android?
I tried searching, but all I kept running into was Lumos flashlight app lol.
I also tried auto backlight for android, and am coming up with nothing.
The auto backlight on Captivate doesn't seem to dim low enough in low light settings for my taste.
Thanks!
Yes! I was thinking the same thing. Subscribed.

That is an app to make the button lights work as notifications. I am looking for something that will auto adjust the actual screen backlight, but not the stock auto backlight.

Gotchya my bad.

problem with keyboard backlight

Hello. At first i apologize for my english.
I have a problem with my milestone. A keyboard backlight starts to work only after I opened it and change the brightness of the screen (through widget, or option menu - it doesn't matter). I have cyanogenmod 7, but it was the same on cyanogenmod 6 and 2.1 oficial firmware.
Thanks in advance for the help.
no ideas? =(
do you have the light sensor turned on? does this happen in bright day or while using in dark?
Do you have the light sensor filter on? Try turning that off. The Milestone doesn't really need a filter on the sensor.
backlight is not functioning
Hi there,
It is not a software issue and I had the same thing. Apparently these backlight breaks easily on these device. Just book it in for repairs.. I asked myself the same question for many months until I gave up and called the Motorola call centre. I hope this helps.

it doesn't matter. in both cases it doesn't works.
i think it's a software problem, because when i reboot in recovery the backlight always is turned on.
I have tried a lot of versions of cyanogen and found that a keyboard backlight is working properly only on CyanogenMod-7.1.0-RC5-11.05.21 . I think it's very strange...
Try setting display brightness to 'Auto'. That worked for me.

[Q] backlight of bottom buttons after gingrvolt install

Successfully installed gingervolt. But after some time of setting things up I noticed the bottom buttons on the phone are not lighting up anymore. I'm not sure what could have caused this. Can anyone please help me figure this out? Thanks

Thanks for the advise. It all of a sudden worked for me this am before i read all the other people having same issue. thanks.
Happening to me on stock, not yet rooted Gingerbread too, just this morning in fact. It's not GV's fault.

Might be related to proximity sensor
Had a bout where the soft keys lights did not come on. Anyone notice that this rare issue seems to happen when using phone in dim or unlit room? I was in a dark room and the lights went out on my revo so I held my phone up to my pc screen and the lights came back on. Could this be related to a issue with the sensor?
Mine behaves the same way. I turn it on in the dark and the keys stay off until I hold it up to a light source, or put the phone up to a mirror with a bright screen on.

Sensor causing soft key light issue?
So I guess the stock GB or GV1.2 is not responsible for soft keylight issue? Hardware related?
Glad someone else correlates this to the sensor. Fantastic ROM GV 1.2, works well.
I never had it happen on stock zv4, Decrap 1.1, or Revolt. I am on stock zv7 Gingerbread and have heard of others too. I think it's the OS, Gingerbread, where the problem lies.

That was exactly it for me as well, everything has been fine since I rooted, then all of a sudden the soft keys stopped lighting up. Tried everything I could think of, but yes I am in a dark room, as soon as I did the above it started working again for me.
The problem came up right after changing the color to the progress bar with zipthemer and cwm.
Either way seems fine now that i gave it some light. No idea what actually caused the problem.

[Q] Backlight issue

We just picked up a used Droid for the dev department to play with. The backlight comes on during boot up but goes off as soon as it gets into the OS. Settings appear to be normal (full brightness). Any ideas?
hard reset didn't help. The backlight goes off at the exact moment the buzzer announces the os startup. (if that makes sense)
try using other roms..
Working on rooting and loading a rom right now. I took the phone home with me and discovered the backlight isn't out just very dim. It will change slightly when I move the brightness slider around.
OK, it's now running Steel Droid with the same issue. I have a bright screen in recovery and during boot and a very dim one once booted.
try to un-check the automatic brightness, and set it to full brightness...
if that doesnt work... might be a hardware related problem...
Did that already. Seems like an odd hardware issue. I have full backlight in recovery and during boot.
Here is a video of the issue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxHqN_lycG8
Stupid question: do you have auto-brightness active? If so, maybe your light sensor could be broken.

Auto-brightness is unchecked and the brightness is set to max. There is a very slight change to the brightness when I adjust the slider back and forth.
BTW. It is currently running CM7 with the same issue.
