I bought the nook for my daughter, during initial setup I rooted it from 1.0 to 1.01 and used my gmail to setup it up. Now she wants her gmail so I unsubscribed the device which wiped the owner info and did the 8 times reboot (unroot?) thingy and it boots using the "normal" boot screen but in extras there are still the root tools.
When I try to go to market and use either my or her gmail I get a message "problem with connecdtion" or something like that but it will sign into the BN account I setup for her.
So how can I fix this?

This is perhaps just your network issue, pal. I've done this root-restore job 15+ times in the past 2 weeks and never had such a problem when I did the software/hardware reset.
So maybe you can try connect your network again , or do the reset again I guess?
I've done the reset about 4 times now and I have tried it on multiple networks...
I had same problem with my wife's account, but not mine. This was on a different device. I've got the NC back to stock and will be returning tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it working.
Anybody else having problems in which their gmail account doesn't sync their email unless they manually refresh? I don't see a setting that may have got this set to Fetch verses Pull, and i don't think that is possible to change with gmail. I am rooted. And am depending on wiping to see what happens. But i figured i would see if anyone else was experiencing this.

Did eventually get this working. First tried unrooting. That was a no go. Then just Wiped the device to start from scratch and that seems to have worked.
Hi guys
since I updated to android 4 now on 4.0.4 on my stock simfree european note (every thing worked perfect on 2.3.6)
When on any WiFi network I cannot get it to receive gmail email automatically, (have to open gmail App and click refresh to receive) or push notifications from Apps (have to open App to receive) even Whatapp doesn't work (have to open App to receive).
On the other hand when on my data network works fine as it should, only have the problem on Wifi which is a pain
If I cannot solve it I shall have to work out how to go back to 2.3.6
Anybody else having this problem
Thanks Ian
I think sync is off
You can on it in settings>accounts and sync

I had this problem with the criskelo's ROM v9.1, then I flashed corenote v3.10 and all good...
to do that you have to root your phone, and move to a safe kernel like abyss or Franco's and flash from there.

Thanks I appreciate you reply
but I'm not interested in rooting or any of those things
just want my bog standard note to work as it should

Isn't anybody else having these problems or am I the only one
Just got a reply from samsung customer service (what a horrible convoluted interface)
but all they say is to do a factory reset
I am reluctant to do a factory reset as I have never had a result from factory resets on any phone ever always the problem was something else.
and do not want to lose any data plus I hear that there is a chance of bricking the phone.
(in guarantee but)
thanks IAn
I have the same problem.
Since on ICS, no push notifications over WiFi (everything works fine on mobile data though). Acc sync is on, WiFi set to never sleep (which I think doesn't really matter, because I'm not gettin any push notif. even when the phone is awake).
Also tried different ROMs, kernels, factory resets etc. (rooted), nothing helps. I have to open the app when I want notification update (using Gmail, Whatsapp, Foursquare, Friendcaster).
This is really a pain, could anyone help pls?
I use SGS GT-I9000, currently on SLIM rom, Semaphore kernel (see attached img).
Just to be sure.
Did you actually send an email to yourself from a different email account, or did you assume you were so popular that it was impossible that you didn't get email while being on wifi.
Hi, I've been having this issue all day after an factory reset and flash of the factory image. I can't log into Google now and keep getting a network error. Doesn't work on wifi, data, I've done a reboot, wiped cache, force stopped Google search. Nothing seems to work. Was chatting with someone on G+ who said he's having the same problem on his G4. Seems to be happening on new device setups and Factory resets? IDK, anyone have this problem? Thanks.

I did on my N5 but not on N6. Just did a full wipe and flashed 5.1.1 factory image this morning and it's been happening ever since.

I think it possible has something to do with the new thing where it signs you into apps such as Netflix automatically. My Netflix is setup to a different hotmail account and I think it may be the culprit...
I was having the same issue coming from M back to LYZ28E. I connected to my Wi-Fi at home and the message disappeared. It's been 7 hours already and haven't seen the message again. So I'm guessing that if you're seeing this message try connecting to a Wi-Fi. It might help...

I'm having the same issue. Flashed the 5.1.1 image as well. I was wondering if you flashed the non encrypted image?
Not sure this is related only to flashing M. I've had this same problem after flashing a couple of 5.1.1 ROMs and tried clearing cache for Google Now as well as rebooting, uninstalling-reinstalling Google Now, etc. what finally worked was I went into google settings and deleted card preferences. I was then able to successfully connect and get Google Now set up with the cards I wanted.

I flashed the encrypted image that Google provides.

I flashed the encrypted version as well. I tried all the tips in this thread as well with no profit. hhhmmmmm is right. Lol. I need my google now... Hahha
Flashing the image file must have done something to my google account. I have lost Google now on all devices.

I searched on the Play Store as well under Google Search app and in the comments many have had the same issue. I heard if you setup a new user name / account it works. But i don't want a new account.

I turned on allow mock locations in developer options and that fixed it.

Interesting, I gave that a try but still didn't work for me. Doh. This is getting really annoying.

None of this is fixing it.
I'm.almost convinced is a lockout on certain email addresses. May have to call google. Just like one of the above posters said, I happened to all my other devices.
so now i am unable to sign into my phone at all.. not on stock 5.1.1 not on M... nothing... lol. my phone is a paper weight right now and there is no way im deleting my google account. idk what to do. lol. at all. google has me messed up right now. the phone continuously makes me resign in with no results.
So I switched ROMs and I lost Google now again. Turning on mock locations doesn't fix it. Try a different ROM, I was unable to sign in on a particular ROM as well.

ok... i am live again. i had to revert back to stock 5.0. lol. when i was on stock 5.0 everything worked perfectly, cards, syncing, etc. as soon as i took the ota to 5.1, upon boot, google now cards are borked??? but if anyone else runs into the issue of sign in loop like i did, revert back to 5.0 which was before all the crappy security changes that i dont care about. lol. and then disable the ota notification if you would like to keep google now cards.

OK boys a have a fix. Follow these instructions in this exact order.
1. Flash back to bone stock 5.0
2. Set up phone without signing into google.
3. Open play store, sign in.
4.set up google cards/ they should already be set up. If it ask you to sign in, press skip.
5. Update all apps. You may need to reboot for your apps to show under the "my apps" tab in the play store. I had to.
6. After getting everything up to date. Reboot phone.
7. Press "google" on the search bar on home screen
8. Press get google now cards. Skip the sign in as you should already be signed in.
9. Profit
So I have some important WiFi networks saved on my S6. I periodically use a Nexus 6 and every time I restore my Google account to the Nexus 6 it only transfers half of my saved networks. I have tried everything I can think of and I'm at a loss...
I've looked in the WiFi supplacant file, I've tried apps that are supposed to read the passwords - both of these resulted in an obvious encrypted password. I've tried deleting all my Android backups and letting a fresh backup get saved and restore that... I've tried using titanium backup to restore WiFi. Nothing has given me good results...
Any other suggestions? I'm at a loss.

Why not just save the WiFi network on both of them and then it won't be an issue?
I don't think the S6 backs up everything the way the N6 does. The N6 has always restored everything, Apps, WiFi networks, widgets etc... By itself - whereas other devices don't back up *everything* - I doubt you'll be able to do this without getting the password.
Perhaps try resetting the N6 and restore it in the initial setup and have it pull the info from the S6? That might work?

That's what I've tried numerous times, after a fresh reset/install of different ROMs. I don't have access to the password or I would just put it in the N6.

Honestly, idk if there's another way?
Edit: you already tried my suggestion. My bad.
You have your wifi passwords on go to Settings > Backup & reset, put a tick in the box marked “Back up my data”?
That should work whenever you get a new Android phone/tablet and you sign into the new phone/tablet with your G-Mail account that’s the same account for your S6.
Unless the network is hidden and only allows registered devices to even see/connect to it? Idk why it wouldn't pull JUST that network.

Yeah that's what I don't get. It's not hidden, it transfer other networks. It's only my work WiFi that it won't transfer. It's weird.

Can you try Samsung Switch on the play store and have it ONLY transfer the networks? Idk if it will do that but that's another thing to try.

Failing that, if you're rooted, there are apps that can get you the password. Just tested this one on mine.

I've tried those in the past, as both phones are rooted, but it always just shows an encrypted password. A series of numbers and letters that's definitely not the password. I will try that one tho since it did show my home network correctly on the N6.
The Samsung switch doesn't look promising, it says my Nexus 6 isn't compatible. I will back it up on my computer tho and see if that works.

This one shows all my passwords as clear text, though I don't currently have my enterprise network configured.
