[Q] - Issue with resolution of TP/CM9 - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I installed latest nightly today. I feel like everything is bigger (resolution = lower?) than before.
From this first screen shot, is it just me or those lines are bigger than usual?
From the second screen shot, is it me or those icons are huge in google play?
From the third screen shot, is it just me or that kindle icon is HUGE?
From the last screenshot, you can see that there is some black space on right side with no wallpaper layer on top of it
I could be just hallucinating about this but I am kind of suspicious about that last black space (empty space = no wallpaper layer covering it). Do I need to change any horizontal/vertical padding? I have set to 0...
Thank you

By default, to the best of my knowledge, everything is pushed through at 160dpi. You can change it to whatever you want by modifying your build.prop file and rebooting (120 and 160 works for market, other resolutions in between break unless you apply the Market Fix). But it is all a matter of preference. I've actually gotten used to the 160 and like it a lot.

Oh thanks for clearing that up.
Does anyone know why I have empty space in the last screenshot when I over-scroll the wallpaper?
ThankU

Try applying a static wallpaper with perfect viewer, then apply the lwp. Works for me.

Wallpaper issue

Dear Xda Community,
i recently swichted from Hermes to Kaiser and I have one issue with my wallpaper. Its some kind of semi transparent and I dont know where I can change the setting to be not transparent ?
Greetings
fire
go in file explorer and open the file you want to use as your wallpaper
then go to options and click "set this as today wallpaper"
then on the next screen, click on the transparency % and reduce it to 0%
hope this helps
I had this same issue... But even after setting it to 0% transparency, it still looks goofy. The color still seems lighter, and it's very grainy. I made the image on my desktop and cropped it to 320x240. I can't figure out why it looks so bad. Any ideas?
Post it and let someone else try it.
I think my problem has to do with the image size. If I look at the image in the picture viewer, it looks great blown up to fit the screen. but it's also a different size.
When I set it as my today screen, I think it's squeezing it to fit between my task bar at the top and the menu bar at the bottom. So if I create a new image that is the right proportions for that area, would it look better? What is that area?
I'll try to get a screen shot up here in a bit.
Here's a side by side screen shot via myMobiler.
On the left is my today screen, on the right is the same image displayed in the image viewer. These are very good representations of the difference on the actual phone too. You can see what it is I don't like the best if you look at the gradient from the orange to yellow around her knees.
Is my problem just the format I used for the image? I just noticed I saved it originally as a .gif. probably would work better as a .jpg or bmp I assume
well, ok, so it doesn't show as much after I had to lower the quality to get it to upload... site contstrints made me drop the jpg quality down.
Yup, saved it as a .BMP and set it as the wallpaper. Looks way better now.

stationary background?

is there a way to have your home wallpaper at just 480x320 resolution where it just stays in the same place & doesn't scroll behind the icons? without using a home replacement app.
"wallpaper set and save" in the market

I am not sure what the previous post meant? You need to compile your own launcher with eclipse. When you download the source from git, there is a launcher.java file which allows you to change the number of homescreens. I am trying to figure out how to do the actual compiling. If you find out let me know.
I think I have this figured out. When I am able to make a 3 screen launcher, I will also do a 1 screen, and post it for you.
what he wants or wants to know, is if it can be set up to make his icons more from screen to screen, but have his wallpaper not move (now it moves a little bit left or right when you slide to a different screen.) I have never seen such a thing myself to stop this from happening.
the "wallpaper set and save" app worked perfectly. thank you
Wallpaper Plus
well you can use wallpaper plus but its a paid app but it works and you can also crop the selected image for the single screen and that'' leave it as one image but will suck in landscape since its cropped and wont strecth but i suggest it, works very well

what I do is, I take a 320x480 image and use wallpaper set and save app, and the wallpaper doesn't move just my 5 screens do, but I don't know if thats a possibility on the stock rom, I;m using CyanogenMod 4.2.3.1
what someone should do is make it to where itll show a DIFFERENT wallpaper for every screen...

Issue with wallpapers on gingerbread roms?

So I have noticed (and mentioned this in the Continuum rom developmental thread) but I noticed this in the Serendipity Rom (I am currently using now) as well so I thought I would make a new thread for it to draw some attention to it.
I made a custom wallpaper to use (with only one screen to use 480 x 800) and after making it and putting it onto my phone. I made it my wallpaper but it seems to zoom in on the centre of the wallpaper ( an image will be attached to this; it is not exact, but it shows what I am getting at) This never happened with froyo roms but it seems that the gingerbread roms are having this issue.
I tried everything i could think of to get it full size but doesnt seem to work
when you chose wallpaper it generally brings up the picture with a grayed out are around a orange (or whatever colour is the default for your theme) box. if you drag the very edge of the box some arrows will show up and you can expand it to fill the entire walpaper then just hit save and your done

Yes I know this. I've done this enough times to make sure I have covered the full wallpaper and I have. As I can see the whole wallpaper on my screen visible in my selection. But when I accept it it zooms into the red area.
maby try using a different launcher and see if that helps and if not and if it is widspread throughout the rom then its probobly a problem with the galary.apk on that rom
Tried different launchers still the same thing happens so it must be something thats going on in the roms.
Anybody else with ideas?
Go to the market and try "wallpaper set and save"
Do you have # of screens set to 1 in your launcher? Just a thought.

Looks like it did the trick! Thanks. Now I just need to centre the single screen wallpaper within a full size wallpaper (960 x 480).

[Q] Lock Screen Wallpaper

Hi to all.
I cant find a solution to my problem and maybe someone can help me.
I have found some wallpapers for our Note in the right resolution (800x1280) to use these in my lockscreen.
The problem is that when i choose a wallpaper with lot of black color and choose it as lockscreen wallpaper i can see some horizontal lines on it.
If i choose the same image as phone wallpaper everything is ok.
Where is the problem?
Thank you all.
I have the exact same issue. Horizontal lines on lock screen, but looks fine everywhere else. I don't have the solution, but maybe I can help you out a bit.
I did some searching, it turns out that there's some sort of software bug that doesn't allow black images to be truly black but rather very dark grey. The thread is somewhere in this forum.
Also the native lock screen resolution is actually smaller than the screen resolution because of the notification bar. Per this forum: http://androidforums.com/htc-hero/37268-lockscreen-resolution-compression-issues-false-info.html
Also when you set an image to be the lock screen, it seems the picture is re-scalled and saved again (in another directory), which means compressed again.
Android phones usually don't display images in 24 or 32 bit color but rather 16 bit color, which means color banding. More on that information somewhere in this thread also.
My suggestion is:
1. Find out the native lock screen resolution. I'm also searching for the figure.
2. Edit your photo, change it to that resolution, and make sure the black areas of that image are truly digitally black (000000), and save it as an uncompressed image.
Maybe the horizontal lines are because the image is being re-scalled, re compressed, and the image being displayed at 16 bit color with a "true black but" is resulting in horizontal lines.
The solution is this. I'm using it and black is perfect.

Not bad idea at all...I have used widgetlocker in my previous phones but somehow i had some little problems like small lugs or battery draining.
I dont know if in the latest version is fixed.
But ill try cause i love black lockscreen in our huge super screen...
edit:Not working properly for me cause i have lower destiny...
Ah, what a shame! But WL does work, so if you ever go back to the stock density i highly recommend you using it.
Magick locker is free so you can test that, get a theme and customize wallpaper, set any black image and its fine. so its samsung lockscreen software bug
One simple solution, use wallpaper wizardrii!!
It solved all my wallpaper problems!
Wicked app & highly recommended. Link - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.twistedapps.wallpaperwizardrii&hl=en

NO I don't want to crop my 1080x1920 wallpaper.....

I'm trying desperately to love my android device, but it keeps tripping me up with stupid things that I swear shouldn't be this difficult.
Latest issue is that I have a gorgeous 1080x1920 wallpaper that I would like to set as my background. Considering the M7 has a 1080x1920 resolution you'd think that this would be a match made in heaven, but NO for some reason both the gallery app and es file explorer are forcing me to resize the wallpaper to some awful square resolution that kills the quality of the wallpaper.
Reading around I understand that this may be due to the wallpaper scrolling feature, but if that's so I'd just like to switch that feature off and have my background be static. Can I find such an option....nope.
So please, someone put me out of my misery.

Funnily enough I've downloaded that and a load of other wallpaper apps and none get it perfect.
With the app above, if i select a 1080x1920 wallpaper and tell it not to resize, it looks perfect in the preview, but as soon as I apply it, there is a 15mm black border at the bottom of the home screen. It's almost like its reserving some space form the 3 dot menu.
It's driving me f**(^ing insane. I cant believe android is so retarded. Even Windows 3.1 could set a bloody wallpaper full screen.

Let's keep in mind that it's not Android that's stupid, it's Sense (at least parts of Sense). Stock Android/CM/etc can set full res wallpaper images without issue.. You could probably even set a full res wallpaper with a 3rd part launcher
