ya even i'm thinking of that too but their rom are all based on 2.3.5 and even they have 2.3.5 source code.it is possible when htc lets out 2.3.5 kernel source code>>>>>

Is anyone here running a gingerbread ruu from htc? If so can you post the kernel version that is under about under settings on the phone? I need the full kernel version. Also please let me know which ruu you have installed. Thanks in advanced.

Im sorry. Im not kernel dev. But 2.6.35 is sufficient nimber after are minor release and the build version will be million. I just wipe away my stock rom and flashed opus rom to gain s-off. Do u want me to give u the kernel running

Is there any ROM that has HTC sense UI ( Apart from SenseX8 Rom) for X8\ W8?
I used Sense X8 with stock kernel and it worked pretty well, only problem was no data, no 3G, no dual touch and it was a little laggy. Now i hav unlocked the bootloader and flashed my W8 with nAa 10 kernel and tried to install the Sense X8 but failed . I really lliked the HTC UI and it looked awesome on W8. any one has any idea of the HTC ROm for W8 or X8 for customer kernel?

I checked the screen shots it just looks like GingerDX with HTC skin .. i was looking for a ROM just like SenseX8 it gives the complete HTC UI. Thanks any way

It is an original HTC salsa port to our x8..
It is not GDX with htc theme...

Is there a way to enable host mode on the IncS on ICS roms? I could only find one kernel here which was built for Froyo version, is there a way to do this for ICS roms?
As far as I know you'll need the corresponding kernel sources for the Linux kernel your device runs. Alas, HTC didn't release them so far. Thus you'll have to wait...

For ICS it's only possible until HTC releases source for the kernel.

GingerDX is Android 2.3 a.k.a. Gingerbread. And it works with both stock and custom kernel.
Android 4.0.4 is Ice Cream Sandwich which only works with a custom kernel.
Can you reform the question please?

There is no way for doing such thing, since GDX is a gingerbread (2.3) ROM.. but you can try installing some of the ICS ROMS, there is even IScreamDX, that is a ICS custom ROM built by team DX, the same responsible for the excellent GingerDX ROM
i think he means like you have 1.5 and you update to 2.1 and both work on stock kernel so why not update gingerdx to ics..
that wont work OP ...it will only work if the roms are all official and you are upgrading from one official to another official rom...
Its not that they dont want to,its just that with custom kernels 4.0 roms are more stable and run...

Its S-ON and i dont want to S-Off it. Its kind of risky i think.. I have rooted my phone successfully by HTC-dev unlocked bootloader.

you can flash a kernel with s2w, but will need to follow instructions to get the kernel booting on your phone with s on. zimage injection does not work with s on
You will have to repack the kernel and flash modules, like on hox

ok i flashed vipervivo ROM but battery life is pretty bad.. S2W works good..
so what happens if i restore the nandroid of original stock ROM and flash only the kernel from the ViperROM (boot.img) manually using fastboot ? how can i get modules for that ?

Viper uses redux kernel so of you flash that it will work. There's a separate kernel thread, you can find kernel and modules in the zip. There's a full boot.img in the redux zip

Correct. You might need to flash the sense 3.6 version to have wifi working. sense 4 and 3.6 use different wifi drivers
