Is there a way to enable host mode on the IncS on ICS roms? I could only find one kernel here which was built for Froyo version, is there a way to do this for ICS roms?
As far as I know you'll need the corresponding kernel sources for the Linux kernel your device runs. Alas, HTC didn't release them so far. Thus you'll have to wait...

For ICS it's only possible until HTC releases source for the kernel.

There are no GB kernels for MM. It's because MM has locked bootloader and Motorola don't want to update Milestone to 2.3. Until it will be unlocked we can only use official 2.2.1 kernels from Motorola.
But my phone is already rooted and installed with a custom ROM.So is there any possibilty to replace the kernel of this custom ROM(pl remember that it is not Motorola's) with the latest Gingerbread kernel?

It is not possible, because kernel must be signed by Motorola's RSA key that bootloader will accept. It's hardware based security, so you can't put any other unsigned kernel.
Gingerbread kernels for Milestone
Thank you adamz667.But knowing it I am bitterly disappointed. We have to find a round about way to unlock this nasty bootloader as we are now in a world of powerful hacking. Then only Motorola will learn.

hello all, i have just built AOSP froyo using this guide:http://www.neopeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=6548&p=20362&hilit=compiling+froyo#p20362 and now I want to port it to the g1, so the question is how would i do that? How do you port? thank you.
Oh and when flashing this, do i need to change my radio(.2825) and spl(.0013d)? (there on my signature)
which kernel do i need to flash this? or can i just use any froyo kernel such as ezterry's?
thank you
I havent been able to get any of the kernels to work for the stock shipping rom of the phone. Does anyone know of the proper version or are there just none?

Most of the kernels that I found built for gingerbread are only designed to work with sense 3.5 and not 3.0. I can't think of any custom kernels that would work for you other than the stock kernel. You really only have a couple of options if you want to switch kernels, find a rom based on gb and use the kernel that goes with it or switch to ics if you can and use a newer kernel.
Well is there a way i could modify my stock kernel to just support over clocking or is it really not practical for a non linux user like myself to just edit some code? lol

Any kind of kernel tweaking will involve more than a little linux knowledge
I saw a post about swapping zimages. Would that work for this situation? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426499 post #2 he mentions porting to other roms.
Hi,
I'm looking for Kernels for ICS ROMs. There are a lot of kernels but I don't know which will work with ICS ROMs (I tried Abyss Kernel and it's not working).
Could someone give me examples (links would be appreciated)?

With the exception of the kernel included with CM9 - there are currently no safe ICS kernels, and only one custom ICS kernel for Touchwizz firmwares which has a lot of compatibility problems.
This will change in the next week or two as kernel source code was finally posted this morning.
Ok - understood.
Could you tell me why I have ~200 MB free RAM from 1 GB in my SGN? My old SGSII had ~400-500 MB free?
Realy sorry for my noob question, I have a locked bootloader
I was researching a bit about the ICS for xperia x8, seeing that only custom roms based on AVD run on stock kernel, because the AVD is based on the same kernel version.
But, isn't possible to adapt the CM9 to run on stock kernel?
Why the CM9 don't have support for X8 on Cyanogenmod website? How developers made Roms based on it?
Moreover, why all the custom kernels are based on version 2.6.29.6? It is impossible or unnecessary to create a custom kernel based on 2.6.32 or up?
Sorry for my bad English.
So ics can't run on stock kernel.Stock kernel miss a lot of components from 3.0 kernel. The kernel is 2.6.29.6 but to have 2.6.32 need to port a lot of stuff so this mean need a lot of time. The nAa kernel's and alfs' kernel is pathed to 2.6.29.6 For now we have ported some components from 32,35,38 and 3.0 kernels.
We do have ics for stock but it is not for daily use. And the development has stopped so don't expect updates/fixes.
As naa said, stock kernel really can't support ics.

yes ics or jb on stock kernel is impossible and trying to port it is pointless.
We have ics for stock kernel, but gods sake its laggy, buggy. Its not good for daily use. U can find roms like ics. X8 is now old. But u can unlock bootloader by paid method. Next time please search.
Really thanks for your answers.
Interesting, I did not know that the custom kernels had several other superior features.
Actually run on ICS stock kernel is impossible, but there is very buggy roms projects based on avd can i run. What I was wondering is whether it is possible to install the CM9 on stock kernel. I do not think it was just out of curiosity noob ...

I've tried the only two ics roms for the x8 stock kernel, and I know it's possible to INSTALL, but did not to use, because there are more bugs than fixes.
My doubt is if I can INSTALL CM9 in stock kernel, since I tested these roms are pure android, not CyanogenMod, they are based in AVD, android debug bridge. :fingers-crossed:
