Hi,
has anybody faced the GPS wakelock problem?
After playing with some program for runners (run tracker) I disabled GPS and app and went to bad. Next morning there was 40% less battery and betterbatterystats said that GPS was on over the night. Do you have any solutions?
I am on Zeus 6.24.
I had this behaviour 3 times till now (with Zeus v6.2x) and could resolve this only with a reboot.
I haven't mentioned that rebooting helps. Indeed, it is a solution (very inconvenient and temporary), but where is a reason of the problem? Any ideas?

Hey Folks,
On the last couple days, my phone started draining battery really fast, with no apparent reason.
My colleague, that has the same phone but with different firmware (his is brazilian vivo, mine is dutch open) is having the same problem.
According to battery usage chart, Google Maps is draining battery (60% of the load), so for now I disabled it.
Anyone else had the same problem?
yep, same here, after i flashed 20a i noticed google maps were using around 50-60% of battery, draining it really fast even when in sleep mode. i think the culprit is a widget or something that is using auto-locate. for me, i think it was accuweather widget in 20a, so i set the refresh time to be daily, and removed custom location, and used fixed location. also, i disabled all google location prompts, it seems to have fixed it.
i had this problem too.
I disabled all auto location reporting features and uninstalled google maps update then re-update.
seems to have fixed the problem.

Hi guys,
I've had the Xperia Z, and i'm not even remotely close to getting the battery life some people on here are getting.
I'm unrooted and followed the advice on here for better battery life, but still cannot get 4 hours of on screen time.
Anyways, over the weekend, i've noticed Google Maps suddenly taking up huge amounts of battery.
I've barely been using Maps or indeed barely using any app that uses location based services.
Even over night, my battery would drain 15% and Google Maps was clearly the culprit when looking at apps using the battery.
It was even stopping stamina mode from kicking in.
I disabled GPS.
that didn't fix my problem.
I tried to Force Stop Google Maps.
that didn't fix my problem.
For example, i could charge my battery to 100% to reset my battery stats, then do nothing else but immediately watch half an hour of a film, and incredibly Google Maps would magically be the app thats drained the battery the most, like double that of the screen or triple that of media server!
So last night, i reset my phone back to factory settings, reinstalled all my apps, but i haven't applied the Google Maps update.
so far so good. so far, it is behaving itself.
has anyone else had this problem?
I don't know whether i should update Maps or not.
its weird, for the first couple of weeks, it wasn't an issue, so i don't know why it suddenly became a problem, but it was massively draining my battery, even when i had done everything to disable it!
under the reviews in google play, if i filter reviews for just reviews by users with XZ, i can only see one other person complaining of the same problem.
i couldn't find anyone else posting about this issue when i googled it.
So anyone else have this problem, or know why it is/was happening?
thanks,
It isn't the version of maps you are using that causes the issue. It is 'location settings'.
If you go into location settings in Maps, you will see that you can turn on and off things such as Location reporting, Report from this device, Enable location history etc.
Some of these are required to run Google Now to its full potential, however they cause quite a high level of partial wakelocks.
It is up to you whether you have them switched on (with some battery drain), or switched off (with no/little battery drain).
I also noticed a larger than normal battery drain since a couple of days. I can't remember if there was a gmaps update right before the drainage increase.
Just for the sake of repetition silly. This has nothing to do with the Maps version.
FYI - The last Maps update was on 12th March. Point proven therefore.

BUT like i said, i had turned all of these off, and MAPS was STILL draining my battery, despite location based services turned off, Maps forced stopped and not even using any location based app.
That is what i am querying. Why was this happening?
random quirk, or a more serious problem?
In that case I have no idea. It doesn't happen for me.
What I have noticed before once or twice however is that my location settings have changed without me doing it manually. This has happened to me twice when I have (un)installed Now.

i'm hoping its just a random quirk.
On friday, i noticed maps was using quite a bit of battery.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday however, it just went crazy.
I could lose 15% battery when my phone was asleep all due to Maps.
well, I reset my phone to factory settings 12 hours ago, and so far the problem has not repeated itself.
i've got GPS on, location based services on, and so far Maps isn't doing anything it shouldn't be doing.
I will definitely keep an eye on it and update this thread as and when.
I've had this phone 3 weeks, so i don't know why it suddenly became a problem on friday. The only thing i changed on friday was i installed new app Google Keep which almost certainly cannot be the culprit that i can see
Hello All,
My Problem is a high battery drain, not caused by baseband_xmm_power wakelock, but by the processes "Phone", "Messaging Storage" and "SIM Toolkit". My device gets very hot although I do not even use it and the CPU runs constantly at 475 MHz. I got this issues on every custom ROM / Kernel combination. This Problem appears at random time intervals. Sometimes after 2 days, sometimes 5 times a day and sometimes it disappears after rebooting.
I also have tried to freeze that 3 processes with greenify, but no success
Right now I am running SlimBeam 7.8 with iodak Kernel (because with this combination I dont get these baseband wakelocks)
Is there anybody with the same issue or with some tips for me?
I have found the solution, switch off your phone for maybe 10 minutes. The RILD problem will persist across phone reboots (hard reboot and even xposed soft reboot).
I had the same problem on S3 and just couldn't figure out why and how to fix until I got the clue from the forum link below

Hi guys,
After updating from a March nightly to the latest Cyanogenmod nightly I've been experiencing the worst batterylife I have ever had!
I mean, seriously. Charge it up at night, place it by my bed and it's completely dead in the morning!
So it loses 100% battery overnight, with no usage whatsoever
I've tried beanstalk (Also Cyanogenmod based) and experienced the exact same issue. A full wipe and a brand new Cyanogenmod update and it's exactly the same.
I really can't return to stock as I'm making use of a lot of Cyanogenmods features.
The wakelocks are:
As reported by BetterBatteryStats:
Msm_hsic_host
And also a msm_camera wakelock poped up at the top of the list once.
Needless to say "Android OS" tops my battery usage screen with over 90% usage
Is anyone else experiencing the same issues? Anyone know a fix?
I'm basically without a phone right now

I've got the same issue here, but for me it's caused by Google services. At times my battery drains within 4 hours, even if I don't use the phone.
But at some times (most of the times) the phone just acts normal.
Before 4.3 I never had this problem, waiting for 4.4, hope that my problem will be gone. Else I'll just go back to 4.2
Aha! Success!
I have found the issue, I'll post it here if anyone else is having the same issue. Not sure if it'll help you though Dsteppa as your problem seems slightly different to mine
Although I would recommend "freezing" google maps as a starting point. See if that helps! Many android devices suffer from a similar problem, chances of it helping you is about 70%. If you're rooted it's relatively easy to do using apps from the playstore
Msm_hsic_host is used to "mount" the 3g modem as a usb device.. At least that's what I've gathered from various sources. Some phones have a kernel issue which stops the modem from being "unmounted" when data sending/receiving has been completely and thus drains the battery.
Turns out Msm_hsic_host was working as intended. It was actually an app which was apparently steaming data in real time, forcing the 3g modem to remain at full power and preventing the phone from sleeping. The unusual thing is that this app claimed it only consumed less than 3% and didn't even show on Better Battery Stats!
Uninstalling the app instantly solved my battery power issues! So for anyone experiencing similar issues, check for any apps which could be using "realtime" streaming; Such as third party Twitter / Facebook or even Email apps.
Hope this helps!
Hello,
since i flahsed this kernel, the phone works, but it wakes up from sleep mode all the time, causing the battery to discharge very fast. Is there a solution for this?

Imho an even better explanation on the whole wakelock issue and how to solve (some of) them:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827676
We need more information what's causing the wakelocks, before we can (try to) help.
→ Install Better Battery Stats and let it run a few hours.
the solution was disabling home button wake up screen in Android cyanogen version. Thx for Reading.
