Trouble Flashing Abyss Note Kernel v4.2 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Abyssnote Kernel v4.2 on my internal SD and i am currently running Franco Kernel v10. I am wanting to flash to Abyssnote so i can then flash to Kingdroids ICS.
I have gone into Mobile Odin to flash the kernel and then reboot into Recovery Mode and once booted to recovery mode it just loops and i cant use. So i have booted back in Mobile Odin and flashed back to Franco v10
Any suggestions please ?
Cheers

[Q] [i9000] Recovery mode problem

Originally I had 2.2 on my SGS. When Samsung released the update to 2.3 Kies couldnt update my phone. So I applied the recovery mode downgrade from 3e to 2e via Odin and flashed a custom ROM from romkitchen.org
Now I wanted to flash team ICSSGS rc3.1 rom to my phone but when I go to recovery mode all I get is a black screen.
The phone is working though, and pressing the power button boots it up.
So I installed rommanager.apk by Clockworkmod and via it, cwm recovery.
But still the same black screen.
What can I do to get recovery fully operational again?
Usually when you create a ROM from ROM Kitchen you have chosen a kernel. Which kernel you have chosen?
A recommended way: flash a custom kernel (you can DL from "Android Development" zone) via odin. Then follow the instruction from ICSSGS.
Hope I can help you!
Ah yea, I've forgotten to mention that. I've chosen Talon kernel. Can you recommend me one?
You could flash Semaphore kernel, pick the version to match your rom you have currently installed. Once you have Semaphore kernel installed you can follow the instructions to install ICS rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
I did this now:
1. Return to stock 2.3.3 via Odin
2. Flash root kernel
3. Install CWM recovery
4. Install ICSSGS RC4.1
5. Install devil kernel
Voila
Thanks for the help

can you go into abyss recovery mode? if can just proceeds to restore a nandroid backup or find a compatible ver of cfroot kernel and flash it via abyss. btw, you should dont ever try to flash any custom kernel via pc odin since you will ended up with a yellow triangle.

boot into abyssnote recovery and flash the speedmod k3-3 ZIP file.

CF-Root CANNOT be flashed via CWMR, because it doesn't contain any updater script. It can be flashed either by using PC or Mobile Odin.

This happens mostly on ics
In the hydracore thread, there is a zip file named returning back to Hydra v5.3. Download that and flash that first using cwm followed by speedmod
Flash this https://rapidshare.com/files/3372118715/Returning back to Hydra v5.3 std.zip
Then flash Speedmod..

[Q] stuck at samsung load screen after flashing PhilZ-cwm6

Hi,
I've just upgraded my Galaxy Note N7000 to stock JB ROM via Kies. The current version now is: N7000DDLSC. After upgrading, I wanted to move to Phil's Kernel, so I downloaded Phil's safe Kernel " DDLSC-ODD" .
However, after flashing Phil's kernel via recovery, my phone is stuck at Samsung's logo. I booted into recovery and can see touch GUI,so Phil's kernal is installed butwhen the phone is turned on it is stuck at samsung logo and I cannot proceed ahead. Once or twice the phone booted but was stuck at lock screen and then restarted again and got stuck at samsung logo again.
Can you please help me out???
did u follow the instructions ?

Yes, I followed the method correctly. I downloaded the official JB rom yesterday and flashed it using PC Odin. For the time being I am back on official JB ROM and kernel, but want to know if it is safe to flash Phil's kernel or any other JB Kernel ?
Try flashing it again...follow instructions step by step... You shouldn't have that issue.... If it continues you can try a factory reset from Philz recovery
Of it still happens post back here for more helo

Not every safe kernal is compatible try to flash philz kernal wif the correct one then using ur external sdcard is better n safe on a phone rather then using pc odin. after u successfully flashed the right kernal n ur phone can start up normally then u can try other kernal as well.
once u flash to a different safe kernal try to make use of the safe kernal function to reboot recovery or reboot system now n update kernal need few mins to update if still stuck on N7000 logo then just go back to recovery n flash back the working kernal.
so far i don't see flashing different kernal is smooth so no point. as philz already mention that the kernal is base on rom built.

How to flash safe kernal on stock rom.
Download*xxx-signed.zip*kernel matching your ROM
Put the previously downloaded*xxx-signed.zip*file on your*external*sd card
Boot into stock recovery*(volume up+home+power)
Select*"apply update from external storage".
Now select the*xxx-signed.zip*file
You are rooted + new PhilZ-cwm6 kernel

HELP: Flashing PhilZ from Speedmod took me to stock kernel???

OK here is the situation.
I have an unlocked and rooted 4.0.4 GT-N7000 that I plan to upgrade to 4.1.2 EUR area code, that just got released few hours ago to sammobile.
As is, my phone is reported as PDA:LRI, PHONE:LRB, CSC:LP8 (EUR).
I plan to update to 4.1.2 using N7000XXLT5_N7000OXXLT2_EUR.
I wanted to wipe data and cache first (I want to reinstall apps from the beggining after upgrade), so I wanted a verified "safe" kernel.
Remember I already was using a speedmod kernel and device is rooted already.
So I downloaded PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRI-AUT-3.99-signed.zip and put it to my SD to flash it using the stock recovery method.
Went in stock recovery mode, I installed zip file (it said it installed successfully) and then rebooted...
1) Now I cannot go to stock recovery mode!
2) "About" reports that I have a stock kernel!!!
Code:
3.0.15-N7000XXLRI-CL811902

So... how can this be? How can I flash PhilZ? (Is it there already? How do I start it's recovery menu?)
Note: Phone boots fine and I am still rooted (as I verified with Mobile Odin Pro).
OK even in philz it will show as a stock kernel
When you reboot you hold power-volumeup-home?
how did you flash philz? through stock recovery or PC Odin?
What section did you put it in in PC odin if thats what you used?
You may want to install Mobile Odin (from playstore) and ref lash Philz Using that
sorry I can't help anymore tonight going to bed, but ill take a look tomorrow
maybe someone else can chime in
I press power-vol-up-home yes. It boots to OS.
I flashed using stock recovery (because with speedmod pwer-vol-up-home worked fine).
I already have Mobile Odin Pro installed. How should I flash Philz again?
Any other ideas?
EDIT: I reflashed the zip using Mobile Odin Pro. Same result. It seems to install fine, but I cannot go to recovery mode.
EDIT #2: I AGAIN flashed with Mobile Odin Pro but using .tar.md5 file. It correctly recognized it is a kernel. It flashed it and rebooted to OS. I shut down the device and started it again... I press and hold vol-up + home + power (yes the buttons work fine, I tested)... AND YES!
Can I flash this from stock recovery
I know I know, noob. But I wanted to know if I can flash this kernel from stock jb recovery. Also does this kernel work with any stock jb rom?
