LCD/Digitizer replacement -> x710a or x710e? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hi,
So I bought a broken Rogers HTC Raider from eBay. LCD shows nothing but white and (obviously) digitizer is cracked.
When I look around the internet to find those replacement parts, I am confused about is it an x710a or x710e. Obviously it is not x710s as it is Velocity, which means Aussie.
Also, anyone tried this on their own?

Hardware wise, they are probably the same thing. But since x710a is AT&T Vivid, the LCD might have AT&T's logo instead of HTC. So I would probably say go with the x710e.

Well on my bell raider it says x710a, maybe both of them are just random. Or maybe x710e is the korean one?
Sent from my HTC Raider 4G LTE running ICS.

Mine is a rogers as well and shows as a 710a

All Canadian and U.S. HTC Raider's are X710a. I believe X710e is the Korean model. I think it is because their processor is set to 1.5 GHz (normal) while ours are factory underclocked to 1.2 GHz.
If yours is from Rogers, It must be X710, but you could confirm this by looking at the box it originally came in, contacting the seller, or checking it yourself by going here in your phone:
Settings -> About Phone -> Phone identity
There, you should find the version by looking at "Model number". It should say, for example, "HTC-X710a".

It really shouldn't matter, not for a screen replacement.
If you're really that concerned, yank up your battery and look. It says x710something right in the middle.

Yeah it usually doesn't matter, but on eBay, I have seen many people selling screen protectors for specifically X710e or X710a...

Has anyone got a RUU or other method 2.3 on their Bell Incredible?

I've tried goldcard with 3 different SD cards, tried it multiple tiimes even with the instructions from the downgrade bootloader walkthrough thread. Keep getting error 130.
I'm not impressed with the Incredible S so far, not so great signal reception... I sold my Desire for this? should have waited, everything else about it had me sold, but going from vanilla GB (villanROM) on my desire leaves much to be wanted.
I bought it earlier today... i'm considering walking into Bell and returning it for an Atrix.
I've heard that the bell version is tough to crack, but if you want my advice I wouldn't go for an attic, everone I have spoken to has been dissapointed with it. What other choices do you have?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk
Well i'm not sure if they will give full refund next day :S but the guy I bought it from said they do 14 days in store credit for sure.
Bell doesn't really have anything else that interests me, Galaxy S vibrant (meh) and Desire Z 4G (no thanks)
Telus uses the same bands/towers in Canada (that's who my provider is I just unlocked the IS) and they have the Nexus S which I was going to go for at first but no shops have it in stock.
I really should have just sat on my Desire for a while longer. I also have a Motorola Milestone...
I have both the Atrix and the Incredible S. I had similar reception issues on Telus and Bell's HSPA network. So far no issues on Rogers (in Red Deer, AB). I love my Atrix. I got an incredible S for the camera. So for I'm impressed with the incredible S but I did just get it last night.

You should be able to get a refund if the you have the phone for less than 14 days AND the talk time on it is less than 30 minutes.
Cheers

Everyone I ask says the Atrix just isn't what they expected, it looks awesome on paper spec wise, but MotoBlur takes all the fun out of it.
My friend with a Nexus S says it seems very slow compared to his. The IncS has pretty much the same cpu and ram as the Nexus S so I think the advantages of dual core phones are yet to come and see no real world performance benefit as of yet.
I'm giving it some more time, and pretty much just playing with the IncS over wi-fi and testing it out and not using any talk time.
I've unlocked and rooted/updated my Moto Milestone in prep to sell it. I'll give myself a few more days to decide, but with no RUU/OTA working on it i'm left wondering what will be it's future.
Should have kept my Desire until there was more Dev support for either, but I did check through the forums here, I knew it wasn't rooted yet but thought I could get GB on it out of the box.
Spoke to a Bell employee, he told me that they are testing GB for IS atm but couldn't tell me the release date.
If it is just the Android version that's bothering you, I would wait it out.

Once you unlock the IS, you can't return it coz it voids the warranty.
But I'm using it on Fido, and I'm having no reception problems at all.
So when bell finally releases the GB update there will be an RUU for us to use for those of us who don't get an OTA right?

I don't really understand why some are saying that sim card unlocked phones won't get OTA. Sim unlocking is not same as rooting the phone, unless the OTA update also checks what carrier you are using lol..
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Bell will give you the sim unlock code for 50$ no mention of any voiding of warranty... I bought my unlock from gsmunlock.net, it's the same thing as what the provider would have gave me.

Providers have access to the unlock codes, sorry it was actually Telus I contacted about a sim unlock before selling my Desire on the weekend, HTCs are easily unlockable... i'm sure Bell is the same.
I'm sure it was just an uninformed sales rep, or was just trying to prevent you from going to another provider or them losing the cash they would have made off it lol.
You can unlock here for $25
http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/
I'm positive that unlocking your SIM does not void your HTC warranty whatsoever since it does not alter the phone's software or hardware in any way other then "unlocking" it.
Perhaps it'll void your right to return/exchange the product, but in which case I doubt the store rep will even bother to check if the phone you are returning is unlocked or not...
I used cellunlock.net Google the site name + coupon and you can find a code for 50% off
I unlocked 2 android phones for under 20$ haha, had the code for the HTC in about an hour, the Motor took 24 hours.

Yep! That's what I used, with the 50% off coupon. It came to like $10.
Well, I'm glad to know unlocking it "shouldn't" void the warranty, then. I was pretty upset that a $500 phone wouldn't have any warranty on it.

I had contacted HTC a few weeks ago asking about this. Here's what they said:
With OTA software upgrades, it's a bit iffy. In some circumstances, update sofware is provided to local stores, who should be able to update the phone for you (policies on this differ from carrier to carrier, where some may be okay with updating an unlocked phone, and others won't).
Sometimes, a downloadable version can be found on our website for the phone in question:
http://www.htc.com/ca/support/incredibles-bell/downloads/
Each device has a specific address that it checks for its updates. Theoretically, the unlocking process shouldn't change that. Your device should still continue to recieve updates, however, it really depends on Bell's update policy when it comes to phones no longer on their network.

So my question stands... if Bell decides to be dicks about it (wouldn't put it past them ) and they don't push the OTA to our phones, will we be able to find an RUU somewhere that should work? (possibly on that link in the quote?)

differences between many kinds of HTC Holiday ??

I wonder if there are any differences between many kinds of HTC Holiday include HTC Vivid, HTC Raider (from many network:bell, roger, or from Korea...).
I dont mention about the hardware (CPU 1.2 vs 1.5), just about the software: Can i flash the Raider cooked Rom for my Vivid ?
Its very amazing that Raider can get perm rooted for a long time but my Vivid doesn't
BTW: how do i know if my HTC get unlocked bootloader or not. i have just get vivid from my friend and i dont know what he did before

LTE bands.
Pull the battery, replace it, hold voldown and power. Look at the top of the white screen and see if it says unlock.

The raider and the vivid are identical hardware wise and the raider had perm root because it was shipped with a unlocked bootloader where as us vivid owners had to wait for htc dev to unlock ours. Yes the raider roms and kernel do work with the vivid I am running holicakes with the custom kernel. And if you turn off the device then press and hold the power button and volume down you will get into fast recovery and the first line will either say locked or unlocked referring to your bootloader

The Hardware IS Identical, the Vivid was under-clocked by AT&T to extend battery life. It is a 1.5 Processor.
Other ROMs for any Holiday "SHOULD" work, but I'd let others test them out first... I may just be paranoid.

Just got the Raider, quick question

Hey Everyone, just picked up a Raider second hand, and everything is working fine. However the phone is rooted with s-off, and I am looking at returning it to stock. Question is, how do I know if its originally At&t or Rogers? Its running dark raider as far as I can tell, and it has an at&t update option, but im not sure if that is only there because of the custom rom on it. I understand the steps for the most part about unrooting, but want to make sure I load the proper RUU so I dont end up bricking it and have to go back to my iPhone. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
As far as I know at&t puts it on the face of every phone it carries. I'm not sure if Rodgers does the same. I know my vivid has at&t right under the grill for the ear piece above the screen.

I have rogers raider there's no rogers on the face of the phone but 'with Google' at the back below the back cover.
at&t software update is part of the customized rom i believe
Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure its Rogers just found an oonline warranty checker with Rogers and I plugged the imei in and it gave back warranty info on the phone. I might give thrm a call to confirm tonight.

[Q] Help Choosing my HTC One

Hi guys,
I had a Galaxy S3 that died (suddent death problem) and I don't want another samsung device. I really liked the One and I need some help choosing the right one.
I liked the Black version a lot and I would like to get one. AT&T uses the same bands that we have here in Brazil and could work here fine. But I would also have to sim unlock it and to unlock the bootloader (for root acess). Additionally, I don't know that are the differences (hardware and software wise) from the AT&T version and the direct HTC version.
Since I will be using her ein Brazil, with no warrant, I will install a custom ROM.
The other option would be ordering the Silver HTC version direclty from HTC Shop online. I will save on tax (I think that HTC doesn't charge tax to ship the phone to California) will get a sim unlocked phone and it will be easier to boot unlock it.
So what do you guys suggest?
BTW: Do you know if I can buy the One AT&T version, in a store without a US address (can be AT&T store or Best Buy)? Of course I'll be buy it with no plan, but I don't know if AT&T would sell it for someone that doesn't have a US address.
Thanks
PS: Do you know if AT&T sells one month pre-paid voice and data plan? Instead of using my own Brazilian number, and paying for international roamming I want to get a one month voice and data plan to use while on my vacation.
Not too sure about the AT&T ones and the bands that are used in Brazil, but I can confirm that black units chip quite easily. There's lots of reports of the colour coming off after some use. My gf's black HTC One already has some parts at the top chip off revealing the silver underneath after less than 2 weeks use, all the while being carried in a leather pouch.

Yeah.. All my previous phones were AT&T version (except for the S3 - I got the International Version) and they all worked fine here. So the AT&T version is second only to the HTC International version.
Didn't know about the chip problem. I always use Skinomi screen and body protector, but even the chip could be a problem in the future.
And how about the Camera glass breaking problem? Does anyone knows if the new units still suffering from this issue?

I haven't actually seen a broken camera lens, and have not seen any reports of it on any local forums as well (we have a thread for HTC One that is like 3000 pages long now lol). Could be very isolated issues
And do you have any information about Sim Unlock and Bootloader unlock for the AT&T version?

[Q] Is it possible to have a Red HTC One on Verizon's Network?

I see that the Red HTC One is a 'Sprint Exclusive'. There are a number of "unlocked" Red HTC Ones on eBay - is it possible to activate them on Verizon's network?
Would I need to flash it with a Verizon ROM, and/or need an unlocked bootloader?

Each HTC One has a unique ESN number. That ESN is loaded into the carriers data base of working units.
If you have a Sprint unit that is only going to work on Sprint. Verizon will no accept an ESN from an outside carrier.
What you could do is swap cases. Find a repair shop with qualified techs to put a Red Sprint case on a Verizon unit.
Those unlocked ones you see for sale are GSM unlocked. For CDMA to work the ESN still has to be registered on the carriers network.
Is that even possible?
The wikipedia entry and marketing material for the HTC One says "The frame is etched with channels in which the polycarbonate is inset using zero-gap injection molding."
Is it possible to separate the HTC One and remove the casing? I didn't think this could be done...
Also, this would mean I'd have to buy two $600 phones and risk breaking them both.

While the HTC One is repairable its very difficult. I went to youtube and typed in HTC One teardown and found several videos.
Its not easy like an iPhone or GS3..
What your wanting to do wont be cheap. But if you want it bad enough it can be done.
