My galaxy S plus is slow after standby - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
After five days of using my new galaxy s plus, it become so slow after exiting standby (unlocking). It needs about two or three minutes to back on its "normal" speed. Everything is so laggy and slow.
I've recently installed juice defender and I was thinking it's causing the problem, but the problem is still there after uninstalling JD. I've turned off most of my apps, but the problem is still here.
Any ideas what's causing this problem and how I, can fix it?
I have only three home screens and 4 widgets.

Wellcome to the "laggy" club... Which rom do you use? I found Value Pack roms extremly laggy on unlock. Im using stock non-deodexed (odexed ) KQ1 and I set lag to minimum. A
P.S. Please write in i9001 Q&A .. dont spamm main thread.

Battery killer help (Axura rom)

I have recently gotten into flashing custom roms, and am currently running Axura 2.5 with SetiroN's 1.4.3
After initial battery conditioning and what not, I have been having good life out of my phone.
I do every now and then wake up to a warm phone which has dropped nearly 40% battery in 6 hours of sleep.
The culprit as per OS Monitor is system/bin/mediaserver
It seems to use a constant cpu of 10%-20%
Trying to kill the process just results in it restarting and burning up cpu again.
Only way to kill it is to reboot the phone.
Since the Axura development thread has been closed and appears Adam is either upset with people complaining or maybe just taking a breather (love the rom) I am not able to get more information there, though when I did bring it up there, others also noticed similar findings.
Anyone know what this file is, what is causing it to go spastic and kill my battery, and how to make it behave?

Could be gallery. Not really sure
Install SGS tools from market, and install Gallery 3D from there. The default Gallery on phone has a bug that keeps the sensor on draining battery.
is this true? Will that truly solve the battery issues? Let me know because if so I wanna flash back to it.
I was watching my battery drain like 1 percent every 2 minutes , I watched it. I absolutely loved the rom tho, let us know if it works
Yep its true. There were issues for awhile. But not sure if the fixed one was included or not. But worth a shot.

Yes. This is the first thing I do on every ROM I set up now. Gallery by Samsung that is distributed by default has a sensor bug that keeps the sensor all even after closing gallery.
Thanks for the tip.
I know I've done that in previous flashes, must have forgotten this time.
Will see how my baby does now.
Definately love Axura Froyo compared to AT&T Eclair.

[Q] Battery life unusually short

Hello all!
Here's my problem. For the past week I have noticed that the battery life's very short. And by short, I mean less than 10 hours fully charged. I got no new applications since this problem appeared, and everything seemed to be working perfectly. Then suddenly I woke up one day and noticed that the phone is turned off. Any ideas on what could be the problem?
I'm running Android 2.3.3 I9000XXJVK.
Here you can see battery use, if it helps.
Thanks in advance!
Battery Drain on 2.3.3
Flash JVR 2.3.4
Thats problem in JVK...go to setting > account and sync > disable background data + auto sync.
Hope this work if not then left 2.3.3 abd come to 2.3.5 JVS

But I've always had background data and sync enabled and it always worked perfectly fine. Why would this suddenly be the reason for battery drain? Also, at night I always turn off WiFi and data network.
Well disable this when ur not using....i think u should give a try and close them...because high android os usage is due to this....
Background data is a process that using OS of ur phone heavily.

Since disabling background data didn't help very much with battery drain(it extended battery life by 1-2 hours), I decided to try another ROM. Now, it's unplugged for 11 hours and it's still at 90%. So far, I'm completely satisfied with F1 Galaxy S II V6 ROM.
That was the awesome rom i dnt know what special ingrediant he use in his rom...i test F1 innovation and i got 3200 quadrant score and long battery life...but the major problem is touchwiz 3.

Using V7 and after 8 hours on doing almost nothing it ate all the juice from my battery
So much bad info here...
Notice how 'Android OS' is eating a disproportionately large amount of your battery? This is called the 'Android OS' bug, which appeared shortly after the release (and use) of JVK—which just so happens to be what you're running. Just for the record, your display should almost always be the highest consumer of battery. If it isn't, you have problems... just like you do now.
Reboot your phone to get rid of it. Battery pull if that doesn't help. It inevitably will show up again, however; it's merely a matter of time. If you'd like to permanently solve this issue, simply upgrade to 2.3.4 (JVP) or newer.
Please, all of you... just look at your battery stats. It's a built-in, handy feature—so use it.
EDIT: As it appears, this is an old thread. Please don't bump old threads...
Androids OS uses <= 5% on semaphore on JVT
Hello Ali Khalid, Nice work ..being a medico and cooking up a rom is tough job ..but ur ROM is awesome..but brother i have one problem..its not with your ROM but it is with all the custom ROMs i flashed..i have gotta big problem with Battery Life..i dont know why this happens..i always follow the proper procedure...still my battery drains like from 100 to straight 91 in 5 minutes..but after flashing stock rom ( currently on JVT ) itall back to normal life. 2.3.3 has a very high frequency of Android OS and Android System battery drain. The best solution is to flash 2.3.4 or 2.2.1.
2.3.4 has a much lower frequency of the battery drain bug, while 2.2.1 has no battery drain bug.

Battery problem

Hi Folks, I hve had my note for 1 year now and haven't had any battery problems until 2 days ago when I flashed a jb rom. All was fine for about 10 hours when I started to recharge the battery again that went fine, charged to 100% and unplugged, the phone said it was at 100%. After another few hours the phone cut out, no warning just cut out. I could get the phone back on but only when plugged into the charger. So, heres my problem, phone says battery is fully charged but when I unplug the charger it cuts out now. if I boot in to recovery with out the charger it stays on for hours. if I try to start the phone up normally with out charger it doesn't work. I have tried another battery again it started fine for almost a day then the same problems again. I have tried several kernels and roms in case it was one of those that was causing the problem but its the same every time. Im not a newb when it comes to flashing roms some im 100% sure its all ok in that department. any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Graham
My note is also about 10 months old. I want to know if my battery stats. I feel like my phone is giving me short time.

What really matters here is your screen on time (I can get around 4h30 with heavy use). I also see you have a few notifications so there might be some draining apps running in the background (like that *** Facebook app which is constantly running in the background even with notifications off). In any case BBS should help you identify the "rogue" app (if any). Also I don't use Google Now as it's kind of a battery killer.
this problem is same with me...after 1 year use gnote
and this is battery problem..i dont know whats is causing it...
i try to enter recovery mode and ..battery is good..almost 4 hours screen on recovery mode
but if I try to start the phone up normally phone is reboot after 1minute in homescreen android
trying with different rom jb ..same problem ..
after replace my battery ..problem is gone..
@strachg If the phone used to work well before you flashed JB I'd recommend going back to ICS to see if the problem persists. If it disappears the reason is JB which would not supprise me since all JB roms for the Note are not really bug free. If the phone continues to behave like you described and changing the battery does not help either I'd say it's a hardware failure.

Hi, Yeah I already tried going back to ics and it was just the same, it just seems like a bit of coincidence and really annoying lol. The only thing I can think off that is causing it is as you say that its a hardware fault and it must be overcharging the battery and breaking it. If it was JB that was causing it im sure I wouldn't have been the only one by now.
thanks
Graham
how did you install jb? Was it clean on safe kernel? You havent eliminated the possibility of software issues.
Qazibazit, it looks ok.
Guideline 3,5-4,5 hours on screen time is normal (if you play games can be less, thus is from full to 1%). Total standby time, usually more then 24 hours is normal.
If you have a lot less, go read ahalfords sticky on wakelocks. All you need to know to optimize battery.

Hi baz 77 yeah using safe kernel, tried a few actually. And using utackas. Version of paranoid android now again tried a few Roms. Everything was wiped and redone the process about 20 times. I looked through all the roms. And kernel threads and no one has had this problem. New battery coming so will see how it goes now.
Cheers

yep thats pretty definitive, at least if all those roms are not having same base and thus posibly same issues.

Galaxy S3 is rebooting without a Reason

Hello.. I've the Device without LTE since about 2 Month now.
Its working fast and stable.. but since a few days its rebooting without any reason.
I dont need to insert the PINCode again after reboot but it's annoying.
Why does it happen? Its rooted but the stock rom..
Any idea?
post in the i9305 help section
S3 won't reboot without a reason in short there is a problem why it resarted.
Only that reason is something you don't know.
Your title is wrong.
Flash a new firmware.

This can be because of your SIM-card. Sounds very weird, but I've once had it
Then it suddenly shows the Samsung screen (not the white I-9300 one) and reboots.

Try removing your sim card doesn't work install new firmware through odin and wipe doesn't work then send it to Samsung

Fix
I'm writing this with my gs3, which would have been impossible before. I finally found the fix for the random rebooting. The solution that worked for me was to root and install cyanogenmod, then I installed an app called 'trickster mod'. Then I set the CPU frequency to run at minimum 800. Thats it. If your phone runs fine whilst playing games like CSR Racing then this is propably the fix for you to. I'm not sure you have to run Cyanogenmod, but you need root. The downside to this fix is that the battery gets drained a bit faster, still good thou.
Experienced a similar problem earlier. If the issue is not software, it might be your power button being stuck. I just did a few taps around it to loosen it. Ridiculous, but it worked.

[Q] Noticible lag when scrolling through the homescreens?

hello, i am coming from the nexus 4.
Finally i got my Htc one and i love it, but im having some lags, while im scrolling through the screens. Its like a little stottering.
Now im asking myself if it is normal, cause i just have three screens in use and just two widgets (original from sense) in use.
It's just not as fluid as i wished it would be. I reseted the phone, and als already wiped everything.
i would really apreciate any help or tip, or if somebody could post his experience.
thanks

Hello thats strange i even have a heavy live wall paper and absolutly no lag.....
0 lag here, on anything that I've done on this phone,
Bit of a pain but you could try a wipe? I have had no lag at all when moving through home screens.
Don't expect it to be lag free out of the box until a few OTA's. HTC one x had more than five ota updates and ever since JB which came after 6 months it's been super fluid.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
No homescreen lag for me, either, and I have plenty of widgets as well as the built-in Weather Live Wallpaper. I've seen the occasional in-app lag, but Sense has been surprisingly fluid.
So your n4 had less lag?
If anything after you flash a custom ROM I'd put money on these little issues being resolved

Yeah, the nexus 4 was less laggy ist not that its always laggy but some times the screens react a lttle to late.
But can it be an hardware issue? Cause everything else just works fine and its hard to get one.
Heres a short vid so you can imagine what i mean.
Had this phone for more than 2 months now and never had any lag

Already wiped the device twice, but didn't help, still laggy while swiping through the screens.Sometimes more sometimes less. I dont even use the Batterysafe mode.
I see your phone was searching for network, this may caused your "lag"

There will be some minor lags here and there.. this isn't a light aosp Rom that's 250mb or less. Sense is over a gig in size. Far from light. Be patient and 4.2.2 aosp will come eventually.

No lag at all, did you copy all your data directly from your nexus to your one? Could be that something that's either been restored from there or titanium is playing merry havoc with your shiney new phone. Try cleaning up your internal memory and try to avoid restoring anything and see if the problem persists, then restore things one thing at a time til you find the culprit.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
first of all i want to thank you all for your quick answers, im really thankfull for that.
I havent restored anything from my nexus, a i wrote above the device was even wiped twice and i have just installed maybe ten applications from the store. im just worried cause everybody writes that there is absolutly no lag, but i defenetly feel one.
And one more question, is your gallery app also so lagy while scrolling through the pics?
And there where some images. and songs from Htc before i wiped everything, can anybody tell me how to restore them?
t-mobile stock everthing here. (1.27)
i noticed it too.
Especially when scrolling around tapatalk, htc one is noticeably laggier than nexus 4. disappointing.
