Hi guy's,
I seem to have noticed and issue with the Sdcard on my csl spice mi410.
I have a transcend 16 gig Sdcard I formatted it with my windows operating system. Inserted it and did a fresh rom flash and installation of all my apps all seems well but I notice each time I exceed 5-8gig of data on Sdcard, it enters a boot loop, after booting it shows Sdcard damaged and reboots again and again. It only stops when I allow the Sdcard to cool down or take it out completely and after awhile it freezes and starts again. I have a 2gig Samsung Sdcard with no problem this only occurs with the 16gig and am sure the Sdcard is working fine cos it works on my other devices. I don't know if am doing something wrong or if I need to create and ext extention partition and move all my apps there or there's a way to format the Sdcard with another file system that I don't know of. Pls would appreciate any help or advice from anybody.
Nb. Do I need to create different partitions the Sdcard or is there is there a different file system other than the Fat32 file system windows formats the Sdcard with.

hi
i have used 4/8/32 and now 16GB(32 is on my pad)
i have had no problem at all and the ext is needed only if the rom has apps2sd and u want to use it since we have around 1GB on our phone i feel it is more than enough for our apps atleast for me it is and any way our developer dont devlop roms with apps2sd so
just reformat ur SD with CWM and no swap or Ext size and things should be fine
thats what i did and i have no problems
I've tried that, It works for a while and then starts again. I'm currently trying out an 8gig sdcard it working fine at the moment except for some few freezes that I would have to takeout my battery to reboot to get it to work. Is there a card tester program that I can use to tell if the sdcard is faulty cos these same cards work well on my pc and other devices.

The only thing which I could find is SD Card / Memory Check in Google Play Store

Hi everyone. I have CM7 running off an 8GB Sandisk microsd card. Something I still cant figure out to do is how to access the remaining space on the card that is not being used by the boot partition. I can access it from the Nook, but if I take it out and try to access it from a PC I only have the boot partition which only gives me about 100mb of free space. When I plug the nook into my pc with the sdcard installed I only have access to the built in storage. Can anyone please tell me how to access the extra space or direct me to a walkthrough on how to do it. I searched but couldnt find it.
Thanks.
You can use easeus partition manager or minitools partition manager.... you need to set partition 4 to active to see it in the computer... but you MUST remember to make partition 1 active again to use it in nook....
The issue is that all 4 partitions are created as primary partitions... Window will only see the first active primary partition.
Thanks a lot. I will check out easeus partition manager. I appreciate your response.
I finally got around to trying what you mentioned, DizzyDen. I got the sd card switched to active, but still when I open it up in windows explorer I can only see the boot partition. In easeus it states that the partition will all the storage is active though. Any suggestions?
That is common and limitation of windows... it will only see the first active partition on a drive... the same as when you were using the 2 GB version.... you can change the active partition in easeus partition managare to partition 4... do what you want... but you HAVE to remember to change it back to partition 1 as active before you take it out and put it back in nook

Some how this really screwed up my computer booting up. I made 100% sure not to check any of my two desktop HDD's and just switched primary and active on the SD card. Easeus asked to reboot computer and then I eventually had to do a restore point to be able to boot windows afterwards...
How about you try this:
[ROM][CM7] Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards. with updater
I know this will require you to reinstall CM7 but it Automatically adjusts for any sized card and allows easy updating without CWR or PC.

Seems they already did that... have cm7 running on SD... the problem they stated was not being able to access partition 4 on their computer.... btw... when you change active on SD in easeus don't reboot... you don't have to.

No... What he's talking is that he did something like install a 4gb image on a 8gb card and now he wants to expand the "sdcard"partition to fill the remaining space on the card. I had to do this when I had a Nookie Froyo 2gb image on my 4gb card but it was annoying. The only easy and smooth way to do it was to Boot to my Linux Install (Ubuntu 10.04) on my PC and Run GParted(The best Partition Manager under the Sun) Trying to do it in Windows was just miserable.
In the end I found it much easier to simply use the Method in my above post when I installed CM7 and it's been the best Expirience I've had Installing a Custom ROM. It's also been dirt simple to update CM7 as all I have to do is plug the SD into my PC and Copy the latest CM7 zip onto my boot partition and boot to recovery. It installs everything automatically. You can even do the same thing to install GApps. If I'm away from my PC but want to update I just download the Zip to my Nook and then use a Terminal App to mount Boot to a folder, and then simply copy the Zip over and Reboot into Recovery.
So I recommend just reinstalling CM7 to an SDcard with my above post for a less stressful experience.

I don't think that's the case. He said he was able to see the storage space from his Nook but not when putting the uSD card in his PC. This is the case because Windows is only able to see the first active partition on a drive; using something like Easeus he can temporarily switch the active partition to #4 to view the storage space.
Unless what you mean is increasing the size of the first partition by deleting all the other partitions as well and just having 1 large boot partition so that it's viewable when mounted on PC (or on stock if dual booting). I don't know the viability of that because I'm not sure how CM7 needs to have partitions structured other than that the 1st is always the boot and the 4th = storage. I may be wrong
*edit: Also, if you're trying to access the root level of files during USB storage mode (for, eg., dropping a new boot animation to /data/local) you won't be able to do it, need to use something like Root Explorer or ADB*
I think the OP needs to clarify what his/her problem is because no matter how I read the OP's post I interpret it one way but other people are interpreting it other ways. Until the OP clarifies, I don't think anybody can help since none of us are on the same page.

So far i have been using default 2GB SD that comes with the phone, with ext2 partition (512MB size) for app2sd. Everything was working fine, i would change ROMS, install apps, all ok.
Recently i bought a 4GB class 4 sd, partitioned again an ext2 same size, but i notice that apps randomly crash, sometimes the phone fails to boot and many times when i try to install ROMS, at xrecovery it says that the zip file is "bad"
Has anyone experience any kind of weird behavior with a new SD?
well that happened to me just format it
Recently switched from default 2 gigs to 8 gigs microSd, but no problems. I do have it whole formatted as fat32 though.
Use 2.3.5 roms that have native app2sd and no need to create additional ext partition.
Backup it, format from phone, upload data back.
HAVE to work. If not - your new card is broken.
Format with your phone...before that, backup your SD card fisrt.

Hi, guys!
I am having a little problem with my X8. Some time ago I wanted to increase de RAM memory on my phone so I decided to use SWAP. I partitioned my SD Card (with "ext 4" option) and flashed a file called "x8EnableSwapPartition".
BUT... in adition of not having more RAM, I am also having problems with the phone's performance. It's getting slower and slower, even with a low number of apps, and I can't open some apps like Calculator, Google Play, etc...
And also another problem, the phone is constantly saying that I don't have internal space, in spite of the information in "storage" says that I have a lot of space.
Is there anyway to unflash this file and delete the SD Card partition? I tried to format the SD Card through windows and it didn't solved the problem.
Any help please?
Thanks in advance!
Use minitool partition wizard to delete the partition (much better if you have a SD card reader).
If you know where is the file that you flashed, simply detele it using a root file explorer. If not, perform a full wipe through the recovery (this is the best solution).

What I did was format the card in the settings menu of the rom. I then plugged it into my PC and it said the card needs to be formatted because its corrupted. Then the partition was gone

Hi, friends. I flashed a few custom roms and kernels, also quite a few applications. Now I want to start fresh with a new custom rom and installing afresh applications. I do not know what kind of folders and files are in Internal SD card (accumulated over a peroid of time). Can I format the internal SD card, just before flashing a new rom. if so how? thanks.

If you are on safe kernel then yes you can format your internal sd card. Just go to SETTINGS>STORAGE>FORMAT SDCARD(INTERNAL STORAGE)

Yes you can format as above said by sahil, but make sure to copy DCIM folder, if your camera having default setting and your snaps are there. Same way copy any other folder, which you have manually create/edited like music/videos. Rest of folder will recreate as system need.
Another alternative is to mount in windows and format there, as Dr k said keep the dcim folder.

note that on some kernels, the emmc and sdcard are swapped, so format sdcard can sometimes wipe external.
Happened to me unfortunately a couple if times so take caution and remove external and format both to be sure

Hi All,
I have done repartitioning to my N7000 (using 16GB internal + 16GB ext card) with Odin with PIT file & the required *.md5 and used the 10gb Data partition PIT file.
But after reboot the application partition completed, but the rest partition not showing and giving error of "Blank USB storage"
I have tried to connect with PC to format it, but also there the partition is not able to format.
Kindly help if anybody have faced the same issue and done some solution to restore this internal memory.
@vikashrastogi PIT file is usually flashed aside and together with an entire stock firmware.
I have no clue how could your phone survive such attempt

-SOLVED BY USING ODIN, AND FLASHING A STOCK ROM-

So i installed some custom GB rom a long time ago on my friends phone.
Now he gave it back to me because nothing was working anymore.
The problem is when i try to open the file manager in the phone it says there is no internal sdcard, furthermore in the settings at partition settings it shows me:
/system 183mb/ 206mb
/data 65mb/178 mb
/cache 4mb/ 25mb
/sdcard (FAT) 0.00B / 0.00B
/ext-sdcard (EXT) unavailable (not 1 in the phone)
As you can see, the phone acts like it has no internal storage at all wich make it impossible to put anything on the phone.
I have tried using ODIN to flash a factory default rom, but my computer does not recoqnize the device when i put it in download mode. so that does not work.
I however installed the lastest TWRP, to try making my own partitions in there but that also did not work.
after that i downloaded cm11, put it on a external sd card and flashed the rom.
this all worked fine, but still NO INTERNAL SDCARD.
I am guessing that my friend has been screwing with some files or whatever.
Anyone got any tips?

Why your sdcard have FAT format instead of FAT32?
Try to backup it using a PC and then format it in FAT32, but forget ext partitions for the moment

Sir, it is impossible to format an INTERNAL sd card just simply by connecting it to a pc. You are talking about external sd cards here. (that's just part of the memory the phone internal has, there is no physical sd card here).
Anyway, i fixed the problem by flashing stock rom in odin wich has reformarted, and partitioned, it correctly.
