Hi, guys!
I am having a little problem with my X8. Some time ago I wanted to increase de RAM memory on my phone so I decided to use SWAP. I partitioned my SD Card (with "ext 4" option) and flashed a file called "x8EnableSwapPartition".
BUT... in adition of not having more RAM, I am also having problems with the phone's performance. It's getting slower and slower, even with a low number of apps, and I can't open some apps like Calculator, Google Play, etc...
And also another problem, the phone is constantly saying that I don't have internal space, in spite of the information in "storage" says that I have a lot of space.
Is there anyway to unflash this file and delete the SD Card partition? I tried to format the SD Card through windows and it didn't solved the problem.
Any help please?
Thanks in advance!
Use minitool partition wizard to delete the partition (much better if you have a SD card reader).
If you know where is the file that you flashed, simply detele it using a root file explorer. If not, perform a full wipe through the recovery (this is the best solution).

What I did was format the card in the settings menu of the rom. I then plugged it into my PC and it said the card needs to be formatted because its corrupted. Then the partition was gone

So far i have been using default 2GB SD that comes with the phone, with ext2 partition (512MB size) for app2sd. Everything was working fine, i would change ROMS, install apps, all ok.
Recently i bought a 4GB class 4 sd, partitioned again an ext2 same size, but i notice that apps randomly crash, sometimes the phone fails to boot and many times when i try to install ROMS, at xrecovery it says that the zip file is "bad"
Has anyone experience any kind of weird behavior with a new SD?
well that happened to me just format it
Recently switched from default 2 gigs to 8 gigs microSd, but no problems. I do have it whole formatted as fat32 though.
Use 2.3.5 roms that have native app2sd and no need to create additional ext partition.
Backup it, format from phone, upload data back.
HAVE to work. If not - your new card is broken.
Format with your phone...before that, backup your SD card fisrt.

Hi guy's,
I seem to have noticed and issue with the Sdcard on my csl spice mi410.
I have a transcend 16 gig Sdcard I formatted it with my windows operating system. Inserted it and did a fresh rom flash and installation of all my apps all seems well but I notice each time I exceed 5-8gig of data on Sdcard, it enters a boot loop, after booting it shows Sdcard damaged and reboots again and again. It only stops when I allow the Sdcard to cool down or take it out completely and after awhile it freezes and starts again. I have a 2gig Samsung Sdcard with no problem this only occurs with the 16gig and am sure the Sdcard is working fine cos it works on my other devices. I don't know if am doing something wrong or if I need to create and ext extention partition and move all my apps there or there's a way to format the Sdcard with another file system that I don't know of. Pls would appreciate any help or advice from anybody.
Nb. Do I need to create different partitions the Sdcard or is there is there a different file system other than the Fat32 file system windows formats the Sdcard with.

hi
i have used 4/8/32 and now 16GB(32 is on my pad)
i have had no problem at all and the ext is needed only if the rom has apps2sd and u want to use it since we have around 1GB on our phone i feel it is more than enough for our apps atleast for me it is and any way our developer dont devlop roms with apps2sd so
just reformat ur SD with CWM and no swap or Ext size and things should be fine
thats what i did and i have no problems
I've tried that, It works for a while and then starts again. I'm currently trying out an 8gig sdcard it working fine at the moment except for some few freezes that I would have to takeout my battery to reboot to get it to work. Is there a card tester program that I can use to tell if the sdcard is faulty cos these same cards work well on my pc and other devices.

The only thing which I could find is SD Card / Memory Check in Google Play Store
Hi there.
Lately i have tried flashing newer ROMs on my HTC Salsa. I have a Kingston 16GB Class 4 SD card installed into it. Yesterday experimenting with different sizes of second partition for using htc-data2sd-ext3.zip it looks that i somehow damaged my SD card.
I am using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home 7.5 for making partition. After i formatted the card last, it shows the card having 14.62 GB space. But does not create second partition saying that all the partitions should be deleted first. There is no other partition visible in MiniTool Wizard as well as on Windows Disk Management menu. Result : I cant create the second partition and cant flash data2sd_ext3.zip. Otehrwise I can copy data on the SD card and it shows OK and flashes the ROM as well but the same Memory problem .......
Any body faced this situation and has the remedy I will be greatly obliged.
Anotehr problem ,.... .i always experienced lag (slow response to applications) earlier when i successfully created partitions and flashed data2SD. Is that due to my Class 4 SD card (not faster)?
Please help in giving advice on making the speed of data reading faster. Thanks :fingers-crossed:
Lag yes, need a Bigger and higher class card. As for the partitions. That's odd. Did u apply all actions? Its possible the format didn't fully work. But still, that's not happened to me...
What size partition u making? I would only suggest 500mb or less on the class 4 if your experiencing lag issues.

Try use Card reader instead mounting ur sd on cwm when formating the cards

If you re read the first post he has stated he used minitool partition which can only be used on a PC with a card reader.
Mounting the SD via cwm and using that tool isn't generally thought of and not always possible. It wasn't for me anyway.

By several attempts I was successful in reformatting the SD card and making second partition again.
As for the lag issue, I read somewhere there are SD card booster programs. Do you have experience with anyone that is stable and works well to enhance the data transfer speed? Thanks

.
SD-Booster or SDSpeedFix from goggle play, all do the same job.
don't set any higher than 2048 unless you have a top spec class 10 sd the fine pick what u want.
sd-booster is inc in my own roms as stock.

Yes I did exactly that. Never used CWM for formatting or partitioning.
Do u have experience using Link2SD application? I think this is creating problems and crashes. app2SD is much safer and stable application. What do u say?
I only use links2sd for Apks management only, so when I open the app up, u cancel the mount option. If y have accepted it and run data2sd you will have serious problems lol.

Hi
I have partitioned my sd, and used Link2Sd to manage it. I've linked most of the apps that have installed on the internal memory, but I recently realized that my internal memory is full, and the partition is 100% free.
Why is that? Is Link2Sd not recognizing the partition?
What do I do?

Usually, linking apps to sd partition only spares few MB's of phone memory. To get more, (and since you are rooted too), you can directly move the desired app to sd card by using link2sd. This, provides more phone storage. This option is also available in Titanium Backup (if you know)... I too easily move the whole app to sd card. In such case, only dalvik-cache of that app is left in phone memory which is comparatively very low compared to the size of app.
Hope this helps...

Yes, I see that it is quite simple that way.
However, I already have the partition, and if i do that it will not be used.
How can I use that?

Link2sd often does create some trouble, better off using s2e if u are on ics or gingerbread
Hey guys, i've read some threads about the moving of APPS from the internal to the externa sd card via link2SD.
Could somebody outline the steps required to partition the sdcard0(external SD card) so that i can move APPS to my SD card?
Software i'm using for partition is Minitool partition wizard.
Other Info: Sony Xperia SP C5303, build number 12.0.A.1.257, ROOTED phone.
Thankyou! ^^
Depending on size of card you have got I think 4gig is big enough if you have 32 gig card.
I used easeus partion software free version.
The card must be inserted into PC via card reader not in phone, open software select card and move slider to size of partition needed set it to fat32 and make it primary.
When inserted into phone start up link2sd it will ask how you want ext2sd card to be handled select fat32.
Then with in the app select apps to move and then create link to SD this will move them to ext2 on your ext SD card.
Search xda for link2sd for more info.

Hey, is there a way to do it without using a card reader or any other software that doesn't need a card reader in order to partition the sd card to a primary?
Because i just found out that my sd card reader is broken :/
Not that I am aware..... card readers are not that expensive
You need PC to see and read card if it is in the phone it will not show up in partition software.
You can always try.

Alright, i'll go out and purchase a new card reader tomorrow.
Btw, i hav a 8GB micro SD card, is that enough for partitioning?
Thanks for your help again, Much Appreciated ^^.
Yes would be better if you could get bigger like 16 gig.... however if you can't then I would make partition about 1-1.5 gig.... A lot depends on what apps and data you are going to use.
If you are going to install asphalt 7 this has game data of about 1gig, angry birds are about 45 MBS so you can see it all depends on your choice of apps.
Best to back up card to PC before starting Incase it goes wrong but they all say no data will be lost.

If youre going to install lots of obb data games, you probably wouldnt need link2sd much, go for folder mount. If youre installing lots of small games like angry birds, subway surfers and more, then you can use link2sd. My sp setup: 4gb ext4 + rest is fat32 on 32gb card. Using both link2sd and folder mount.

Alright, thanks for the reply.
I'll decide in 1 days time to see if i should go for folder mount way(which i need instructions on it) or whether to go with link2sd.
And yes, i have Ashphalt 7 installed on my phone atm. The game is great and ye takes up alot of space :/
Would you guys be so kind to instruct me on using foldermount if i do decide to go with it that way?
And i might as well buy a 16 or 32gb SD card.
Or should i wait for the Android 4.3 update for our Sony Xperia SP? DOes it support the function of moving APPS to SDCARD?

AFAIK, the foldermount has a restriction of 3 or 4 games only in the free version. Lots of other features in the paid version. Check both the apps out on their respective thread in XDA
Using folder mount is easy to use.
You will need to create a folder on ext SD card (I called mine game data.) Open game data folder you just created and then make another folder (give this the name of the game you are moving over)
Open folder mount app in to box give it name of game.
Middle box select where the game data is either on internal SD card/android/data or SD card/android/data/data
Then bottom box select where to store game data that goes into new folder you just created
Press green tick in to corner when done make sure the pin goes green this make it load at boot.
If game updates the new data will automatically go to the folder you won't need to recreate or re mount.
At boot the folders are automatically loaded
