Blinking Orange Light When Charging - HTC Incredible S

I've been searching around and can't find a definitive answer for this one. Some posts suggest that the charging port has gone, others that the battery needs replacing and others appear to be dumbfounded. Does anyone have a definitive answer?
Basically the battery was low last night. I was on it still, it died and then when I went to plug it in, all I got was a flashing orange light instead of the usual solid orange light.

Did you pay attention to new sms or new email ? Because when i receiving sms or email on charging orange light starts to blinking.

It's definitely not that.

I think you had used your battery until it's empty? If yes, just keep charge it and it will be alright .. (in my case it is)

How long did it take in your case? I've had this on charge for around two hours and right now for example, I'm not even getting the blinking orange light.
It started charging. OMG, I'm beyond in love right now. Thank you so much.

red light when charging and same when not charging

hey guys last night i somehow spilled beer on my phone but it was still working fine as my cousin called me and i was able to answer. but i have one question is why is it showing a red light instead of the orange or green light. btw the battery was drained all the way since i was not able to get to a charger since i did not go home. if i leave it on the charger will it charge? cuz i left it on the charger for 3 hours already and i still can not turn it on.
sorry if this is a noob question

Unfortunately it is a noob question you already know the answer to.
People here are good, but they can't resurrect a beer soaked phone.

Well I dropped mine in about 3 feet of water thought for sure it was toast went and bought another from AT&T after a few weeks through a battery in and what ya know I now have 2 Tilts
well see what i figured was that the reason why my tilt wont charge is because the battery is at ZERO! no charge at all because before that i was able to turn it on and it would work i just wanna make sure but i guess ima just get a battery from ebay and see what happens

[Q] phone got sizzling hot while charging with blinking red lighti

I'm still 100% stock. When I took the phone off the charger it was almost to hot to handle. There was also a blinking red light. The battery is now discharging almost 20% an hour on standby. Any ideas?
Check to see if something is keeping your processor running in the battery menu. Try rebooting it to see if it calms down.

I rebooted it and the battery is still draining...... Bad. It's been off the charger since 7 am and I'm at 20%. I'm at the Sprint store right now, lets see what they have to say. Thank you for your reply.
ya your light should be solid red and no where near that hot sounds like trouble
Time to take it into Sprint they will perform a battery test and probably replace it
This happened to me. I was in 14 days so they swapped me a new phone. Its a faulty battery. Eventually it will burn out and not turn on at all. Get a new one.

I did a reset and while it is somewhat better, there are other things now like loosing data and a couple of reboots.

[Q] How can one tell if this phone is fully charged?

The title says it,don't tell me somethin like "look at the top right of your screen" cause I offline charge it. Now I turn off the phone, plugged in the charger, yay its charging. 5 hours later I go check on da phone,WTF? It doesn't say anything, the battery logo with the lighting icon is still da same! So how can you tell if its fully charged? Cause It never says anything. And don't tell me to turn it on and see if its a 100%.
Now that's pretty odd. Hmm, maybe its nothing. Try this,if you are running on an old firmware install the latest from the update centre,if you already are using the latest firmware try resetting it,not just the settings but with the data being wiped as well.

Cause if you charge your phone while its off,its a thorugh charge. If its own it won't be fully charge, its resources are still used. I called Sony and asked them about it,also years back when I owned a lg,nokia and samsung device. They all said the same charging your phone while its off is the best thing, cause its a thorough charge.

Talk about paranoia, just use it normally, don't turn it off, unless you're planning to keep the phone for the next 10 years. It _might_ have made a difference in the past with the _old_ batteries, but with LiPo it makes little difference.
Safe yourself the trouble.
I thought the phone has a Li-Ion not Li-Po.

When you guys gonna stop talking bout the water strip thing? Okay so you sayin its useless if its a Li-Ion battery right? Provide me some more details please, chemically or scientifically.

There is no way of telling short of changing the way the notification light works for charging and I wouldn't even know where to start with that. Just leave it on, the XZ charges (with official charger) in like under 2 hours anyway, you're only making things difficult for yourself.

[Q] Charge indicator? Group texting?

I apologize but the search function here on XDA seems to be down at the moment?
I'm curious if the X has a charge indicator, that would let you know it's charging, and if it's been fully charged....without having to touch the phone?
Also, does the stock texting app on the Moto X support group texting?
Thanks!

group texting yes. don't know about charge things but I know i saw some option about active notifications turn off between 11pm to 6am.
Seems to me like a charging indicator light is grossly missing.

Cool, it's just that a couple nights ago, I went to plug in my HTC One and when I did, I didn't get the indicator. So, I discovered that the charger had become partially unplugged from the wall. If that had been my new Moto X, I would have never known and consequently not been charged when I woke up.
Come on Moto, gimme a little light for cryin' out loud.

That's why the screen turns on when you plug it in.
If I am correct, doesn't moto x have daydream since it is android 4.2.2? You could just set it to daydream when charging that way you know when it is or isn't.

Yea, the screen turns on for about 10 seconds... Though, I concede that if the charger gets unplugged after the fact and you aren't there to see it, you wouldn't know... But I honestly disliked the led, ended up always flipping my phone on their face because the led bugged me.

Sans LED
Excellent points, everyone. Thank you for responding.
This is my first day with the phone and I find it so much easier to use, and better sounding than the HTC One.
Again though, regarding the LED, I think I'm going to miss checking my phone at a glace for notifications. I know it "breathes", but not as frequently as an LED flash. For example, let's say I leave the room and my phone on my desk. When I get back, I would like to just glace at the phone to see if anything has happened. Without the LED, I have to nudge the phone to get it to show me, correct? If so, that's not exactly "touchless", is it?
My old Motorola XPRT had the trusty ol' multicolor LED. I could tell if it was a facebook message or an email.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Maybe this needs to be it's own thread topic?
Thanks!
As for a charging indicator, there is an LED underneath the earpiece. That being said, I've only ever seen of once lol. My phone was completely dead and plugged into a Yamaha stereo USB getting a very weak charge. It has never activated again for me, and in another thread someone said they saw the LED active on a demo unit at an ATT store. I have played around with lightflow but no luck.

Nope, the method moto x uses, for me at least is far superior, informative and intuitive. The intervals in which it breathes with a notification is between 5 and 10 seconds and from a distance is far more noticeable. I love everything about active notifications and do not see myself with another phone, from this day forward, with out it. It is my favorite and most used feature and it has, literally, made my life easier.
I'm an electrical contractor and own my own business... Basically run the business from my phone. I get emails, texts, phone calls etc every 10 minutes from 6am until 6pm, before the moto x, I would probably push my power button a few hundred times a day, now, maybe a few dozen. Between the active notifications and touchless controls, this one device has single handedly changed the entire way I conduct my day to day affairs in a very positive way.
To be overly dramatic, this phone has changed my life =P
Seriously though, this is the first phone who's features actually make a noticeable, if not monumental, difference in day to day operation. I use to be a Samsung fanboy, but screw Samsung, Motorola/Google knows what's up.

After some quick camera work i got a pic of it. It comes on really qickly when the battery is completely dead (at least thats how i got it to appear) and it doesn't stay on very long at all. The first time i saw it however, it did stay lit up while the phone was charging. OEM USB cable was used, just a run of the mill usb wall plug and it pops on for a quick second

Different strokes I guess. It's plenty enough for me.
That LED only shows up when you plug in a totally drained phone. (Less then 0%)
The phone does not have enough to power up the screen to show the battery image, so the led comes on until the battery has recovered enough, and disappears.

Battery issue :S

I have searched this but could only find one other person having this issue and no one really knew. But when I charge my htc one to 100% take charger out and then put it back in it shows 98% all of a sudden.
So I let it charge more and take it out and in again still does same thing. Done it repeatedly too. Anyone else having this issue ? Or a solution? It is like it thinks it's charged fully put it hasn't. And it's annoying. Thanks

Try the battery calibration app from the playstore, that might fix the percentage drops.
this is normal behavior, my one does that too and gets perfect battery life. this happens because the phone charges to 80-90% very quickly then trickle charges (on and off) for the remainder of the capacity. this is to prolong the battery lifespan and is a healthy way to charge the phone. my iphone 5 did the same thing.
