Hi,
I've just got my P7300 repaired by an official Samsung repairer. I have the feeling, though, that they installed a non-stock firmware on the tablet as I cannot update anymore. When trying to update OTA, I get an error message that suggest using Kies. When I use Kies, I get this message:
"Your device does not support upgrading via Kies"
Before sending it out for repair, I was able to update to Android 3.2. Now I'm stuck with 3.1 and the device performance is really poor. Going through Samsung support, at least here in Italy, is hell and takes forever (like two months...).
Therefore, I would like to flash a stock firmware on this device so as to fix the issue myself. I've read the guide in the forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137) but I must say I'm quite lost...
I don't understand where to find stock firmware for the P7300 nor do I understand how to flash it... Is Odin the way to go? What if the flashing doesn't work? Will I be able to revert to the crappy firmware I have now?
Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help.

Lost? That guide's as clear as day. Are you sure you read it? Make sure you read carefully, because I do address your issue in the guide in a very short and easy to understand way. Also yes, you need to use ODIN. Read the FAQ and then the How-To. You will find the link to download your preferred firmware (which in fact is mentioned twice) and tools.

Must be kind of a cloudy day, then. I mean, you've certainly done a great work with the guide and following up with all your replies, but I guess I need to look for more info. Thanks anyway.

Hi guys!!
I know this might seem trivial to most of you, BUT.
I am currently running stock XKA firmware on my Note, rooted and with CWM.
I'm very interested however in getting the official ICS update from Samsung. Will I be able to update through Kies, now that I'm rooted and with a non-stock kernel?
Kies momentarily tells me that "my device is not upgradeable through Kies".
I've used info and tools from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 to root it.
I'm pretty sure someone will post it when it comes out & you can flash it yourself. Just guessing here though.

Hey guys i really need some help. I tried to install clockworkmod on my T-mobile samsung galaxy s (sgh-t959v) and i guess i bricked it. All that comes out on the screen is a phone and a computer. can someone pls tell me what to do to fix this and install the right way.
Thank you in advance
Fairly new to all this myself and don't have experience with T-Mobile but if you go here you should be able to get a Firmware for your phone: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=SGH-T959V&r=5#regiona
You should be able to download a stock firmware, odin & everything else you need to flash your stock firmware. From this site.
Perhaps wait and see other responses though as there maybe a way to fix without flashing a stock firmware. Also getting some info from someone with your phone on T-Mobile may be better.

Just confirming that what scubadude said above. Flash new firmware, it is a soft-brick and therefore recoverable. Something that needs to be added however is that you will need to make a login in-order to access the direct link. If the link still doesn't work after that then click firmware and follow on from there..
Hi guys!
I noticed today that there were a system update for my optimus 2x.
But after it downloaded it said validating software package and returned an error stating that the package was invalid..
Has anyone else bumped into this problem? Is it because my phone is rooted?
It is otherwise stock.
Thank you so much for your help!

Okay.
So can i ask how do i unroot the phone using CWM?
I looked at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021554&page=2
it talks about installing a recovery.zip using CWM, but will it unroot the phone or not?
Thanks!
The name says it all and it is sticky in dev section...
{START HERE} ROLL UP THREAD - Guides, ROMs, Kernels
0. Read
1. Root following TrymHensen`s guide
2. Install DjangoManouche
3. Hit thanks to all of devs around for making this phone a racket
4. Sit back and enjoy
Hi and thanks for the answer!
you see, my phone is already rooted. I need to unroot it in order to get the latest update from LG installed on my phone.
The reason for this is that when i download the update OTA and try to install it, i get an error message stating that i have a invalid software package.
And the reason for this as i understand, is that the phone is rooted.
i have read the roll up thread you linked to, but it does not state anywhere how to unroot the phone. And thats what i need help to do
Use smartflash and put some older version on it, then update it to current version. It will be unrooted.
Thank you for the answer, will try that!
But im struggling a bit to find the older versions though. The links to them are either down or broken. I need the EUR version.
You can flash stock v20q via cwm. If you said that your phone is rooted, install cwm and then flash this stock v20q.
If you want to downgrade, then update using lg update tool, you need smartflash and some older firmware like Euro v10d.
You need to read and search, really, all is here on the site.
At least press the thanks button if my posts are helping you, it is right here.
Thank you for the reply.
I will flash with the v20q one you mentioned. Its the version im trying to upgrade to anyway, så this seems better instead of downgrading it to stock, then upgrading using OTA!
Alright so here goes, I was rooted on GB and I didn't get an OTA notification, so I unrooted (using the latest Open Europe GB stock rom) and I still didn't get an OTA notification. So i went into Kies, updated the it to the latest version before plugging my phone in, and now it says that my device does not support updating via Kies. Is there any way to get official ICS without rooting again (I'm giving the phone to my mom, and when I was rooted there were one too many issues with stability and usability).
You can use PC Odin to get ICS.
Okay, where can I get the rom for it, and will it void the warranty (I know that rooting also does, but I unrooted and I want to have my mom just be able to send it off for repair rather than having me go over there, unroot or do whatever needs to be done before sending it away).

Look under the Android Development category for DrKetan's thread with stock ROMs. You can download a non-rooted ICS, I think. And if its not rooted it won't put a triangle on the screen or mess with the binary counter.
Sorry, i know this is a noobish question, but i got kind of confused. When I odin the rom, should I unzip it or not? When I unzip it, then it gives me the md5 (which I know how to flash) but also a .dll so what should I do with that?
Hello There
Try to reinstall the kies with the update version in the official site.
just follow the instructions in Dr. ketan's thread, he even has screen shots for the procedure.
I bought this note in Singapore about a year ago and I have not been able to upgrade the OS via kies or another way. When I try to upgrade via kies it says something like "this handset is compatible for upgrades" Everything else with Kies works fine. About 6 months ago I found some info on upgrading to ics and even downloaded some software for the task. But my other phone (HD2 )wasn't working at the time and I was a bit scared to flash that software just in case I ended up with two phone not working. But I have recently fixed my HD2 so now I would likie to undertake this upgrade. The problem is I can't find the website with the info or the bit of software I downloaded. Can any one help? Thanks.

Its strange that you are unable to update ICS via Kies, since in next couple of months JB will be out..use Dr.Ketan's guide & flash any stock/custom rom via PC Odin..be carefull about the emmc brick-bug, if you are flashing a Stock ICS rom..
Go through these links till you understand completely..

I have just had a look at that 1st link. Totally Greek to me. Thanks for for time but that is way beyond me. If I took that on I might just as well set my note on fire as turn it into an ice cream sandwich. Thanks again.
