[Q] Can't 'install zip from sd card' Help!

Hi all,
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S I9000, but I don't have the stock Live Wallpapers.
Now I wanna install/do this:
"First place SamsungLWP.zip on the root of your SDcard (plug your phone into your computer and transfer the samsungLWP.zip to your phone's sdcard)
1. Go into rom manager and reboot into recovery
2. scroll down to install zip from sd card and press the power button
3. scroll down choose zip from SD card again hit power button
4. highlight signed SamsungLWPs.zip
5. Hit power button
6. Go back until you get to the reboot option I think back twice Reboot phone
7. go to personalize in setting options select htc wallpapers select live wallpapers and pick one to enjoy one"
I can't do the 2nd step, because there is no choice to select 'install zip from sd card'.
Can anybody help me?
I've got the stock rom (Froyo) and the phone is rooted.
Help would be appreciated

did you fetch cwm?
The instructions assume you have CWM recovery (or a similar tool) on your phone.
In order to install programs in this manner you have to get CWM recovery. (search for rom manager in market and flash cwm (it's the first option from the top),
then again, I'm assuming you're getting this since you're still on 3e (the recovery most galaxy s phones come with). What I'd like you to do is get your phone into recovery mode and tell me what the very first line on the top says.

theres your problem you need recovery 2e
search for CWM in either update.zip or Flashable Odin version like cf-root.
if you get the update.zip version you need to put it on the root of your internal sd card, boot into recovery and select apply:update.zip you will need to do this twice... then CWM will appear and let you flash unsigned zip files.
if you use odin version just flash it in download mode and when you next boot you will have 2e recovery.

I just fixed it, I did put the 'data/app' folder onto my phone, and installed it, and it worked.

There's your problem
You currently do not have the option to install (most) zip files from recovery. If you do want this option it is very possible and not too complicated(although this might void warranty) please read the forum guide on how to get CWM (clockworkmod)

I'm having a similar problem, but azzledazzle's suggestion left me a little baffled. I've got rom manager installed, Clockworkmod flashed and all that good stuff, but I'm still not able to install new roms. Now, I'm just about to try recovery mode, and...

But how do I find a 2e thingie? Imagine I'm a gigantic moron who can put things in folders, but that's about it. I apologise for the pathetic help request, but if there's anyone...

Listen..I have a HTC One V and when I go in recovery mode it says E:Can't open...Then when i press Vol Up + Power Button a list of commands pops up but there is nothing saying install zip from SD card..And now it's stuck at the htc one screen i can't start it up \_/

can it work for i9300 ?

Obviously you need to flash the latest custom recovery CWM. After that flashing zip will work.

[Q] Can't boot phone after flashing CM9

Hello everyone,
I've tried to install CM9 on my Samsung Galaxy S I9000. However, I must have done something wrong in the process. I'm totally new to the whole custom ROM thing. I'll try to list the steps I performed to install CM9. I hope someone can point out where I went wrong.
Generally, I followed the instructions given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363593 .
1) Installed "ROM Manager" (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=de).
2) Rooted my phone according to the instructions in http://androidadvices.com/root-samsung-galaxy-gt-i9000-android-234-xxjvr-firmware/3/ . This uses Odin 3 v1.7 and also installed CWM Recovery (v3.0.0.5) . I checked that my firmware exactly matches the one for which the description is for.
3) Performed a backup using CWM Recovery.
4) Performed wipe (data/factory reset AND cache).
5) Installed CM9 using CWM which I had downloaded from the links given in the thread given at the beginning and placed the four .zip files (CM9, Google apps, Google apps fix and Faceunlock) on my external SD card. I only realized afterwards that the instructions said to place them on the internal SD card.
6) Installed Google apps, Google apps fix and Faceunlock using CWM.
7) Selected reboot in CWM. However, the device didn't boot into Android. First I saw the CM logo screen, then the phone got stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy S I9000" screen.
8) Read instructions again, realized that I forgort the wipe after installing Google apps. Performed the two wipes again, however the problem remained.
9) Read instructions again, realized that I was supposed to install the .zip files from the internal SD card. I assumed that was the step I went wrong. So I decided to restore to my stock ROM which I had backup'ed before. I used the restore option in CWM, selected my previous backup (located on external SD card) and performed the restore.
10) However, the phone still does not get pass the "Samsung Galaxy S I9000" screen. When I boot into CWM, the following appears on my screen

My questions:
1) Where did I go wrong?
2) What must I do to be able to attempt to install CM9 again?

To get back to stock you have to flash a 3 file stock rom with repartition in odin.
i think the best is to get back stock, if you tried to restore a backup. then flash semapore kernel.
Then boot in recovery, wipe. Flash build 12 and gapps then reboot.

1. Here you can read how to flash with odin and download the latest gingerbread stock rom
2 your backup will work, but you have to be on a stock rom first.
3. read how to flash with odin in the link.
4. Semapore kernel is a custom kernel, comes prerooted and stuff.
so after you are back stock you can flash this in odin, put it in pda and dont thick repartiton. No you are ready again. turn of phone, boot into recovery mode with 3 button combo, here you can restore your backup if you want. or wipe factory reset, wipe catche and dalvik catche flash build 12 and gapps from internal sd. reboot and enjoy ics http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908 remember to download the correct kernel for your build.
5. hard to say, the best way to get correct cwm is to flash a kernel as semapore or cf root. maybe it was somthing with your cwm (recovery)

So I managed to flash the stock ROM. I chose the "XFJV7/XXJVQ/OXFJV1/Sbl (MultiCSC)" which is the newest one for Android 2.3.4. I didn't tick "repartition" and didn't select Pit (what is this?) in Odin.
Now considering the Semapore kernel: how do I know which one to download in the thread you posted? Can I just take the newest one? Will I have root once I've installed this kernel? I'm asking because in the FAQ (semaphore.gr/faq) it says it requires another app (Superuser) in order to have root?

its not the newest. you should have thick repartition and 512 pit here. But if the phone boots up i think its ok. only kernel flash its important not to thick repartition.

I tried flashing CM9 again with the Semapore kernel I had installed first. It seemed to work, however, after booting into CM9, a screen appeared that said something like "Device encryption failed" and I could not get into the OS. Any idea what that could have been?
I'll give it another try anyway, this time with repartitioning and PIT when flashing the stock ROM and with the other kernel you suggested.

Slightly off topic, but what's with this obsession about 3 file roms that's been going around for a long time? I have yet to see any evidence to support the belief that 3 files rom is someone better than single file rom.
@OP: Try flashing CM7 first. See if that works. Then flash CM9.

So what's the difference between a 3 file ROM and a single file ROM?
I've tried again with PIT + repartition, the CF kernel and CM9. However, the whole thing ended in a bootlop (Samsung Galaxy S I9000 foloowed by CM screen).
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong...

edit: Something else I noticed. When I connect my phone as mass storage, the internal SD card still contains a bunch of files/folders that belong to apps from my original installation. Shouldn't these be deleted when I did the data/factory reset?
edit2: According to the CM7 thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061946), "you're not able to flash any kernel or run any filesystem you want". So which kernel can I use?

Hi,
I'll get 3 weeks ago SGS in a bottloop after flashing CM9 build11 (teamhacksung's) from latest CM7.
I went mad four about few hours, afterthat I decided to reflash stock 2.3.6 (JVX_JV3_JVT.tar).
After flashing with Odin, I end-up with in DBDATA error after rebooting..
So I flashed dbdata.rfs.tar and I've got original 2.3.6 working.
So:
-I've rooted my device again (CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVT-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar)
-Installed ROM manager
-Rebooted into recovery
-Flashed ICS port latest builds + GApps + face unlock (and wiped ALL).
No my device is working with ICS,
hope this will help you guys on flashing ICS and don't waste time.

One question, do you have your SD Card in your phone when you are going through the install process? If so, take that out before flashing anything. It has been the cause of problems for a lot of people coming to CM9.

Hi, thanks for your replies.
I seem to have solved the issue. When the "device encryption unsuccessful" screen appeared, I booted to recovery using the power button (a menu will appear letting you choose between shut down, restart or recovery) and came into CWM. There, I wiped everything (i.e. factory, cache and dalvik or whatever its called) and rebooted. I could then start the OS without any further problems (until now).
I also noticed that now my internal SD card is actually "clean" again, i.e. it only contains the folders and files that are there when you get your phone new. This wasn't the case when I performed a wipe BEFORE flashing CM9.
I'm using the CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVT-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar kernel you suggested, maybe that was the problem (I can't recall being able to boot into recovery the first time the "device encryption unsuccessful" screen appeared).
@ryanmat Yes, I did have my external SD card in the phone during the installation process, but thanks for your suggestions.
edit: I will report back if everything goes smooth for a few days.

now you got CWM working and you've got CM9 after wipe all with rooted kernel I suggest you?

Exactly. Let me write down the individual steps I finally performed to get CM9 running.
1) Get Odin and PIT files -> http://www.multiupload.com/51MTA5K1H7
2) Boot phone to download mode
3) Start Odin on computer
4) Connect phone to computer (USB)
5) Flash stock ROM -> http://www.multiupload.com/PKVWPJJZMO (check repartition, put in the 512 PIT file and select the PDA, PHONE and CSC files from the stock ROM, then hit start)
6) Disconnect phone from computer
7) Restart Odin on computer
8) Boot phone to download mode
9) Connect phone to computer (USB)
10) Flash the CF kernel for root access -> http://www.filesonic.ch/file/2356034801 (don't check repartition, no PIT file, select the downloaded tar file as PDA, then hit start)
11) Boot the phone to the stock ROM. After the kernel was flashed, you should have CWM installed. Place the CM9 tar, as well as the gapps, gappsfix and faceunlock tars in your internal SD card. Start CWM and boot into recovery from there.
12) In CWM recovery, select install zip from SD card and select the CM9 ROM. After the installation, my phone automatically rebooted, booted CM9 and got into the "encryption unsuccessful" screen.
13) Hold the power button, select reboot and then select recovery to get back into CWM recovery.
14) Perform factory reset, cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe (found under advanced).
15) Select reboot in CWM recovery, you should now be able to boot into CM9.
16) Reboot into CWM again and install gapps, gappsfix and faceunlock if desired.
I don't know if all of these steps are required or if they must be performed in this exact order. However, it worked for me (CM9 build 12).

and now build 13 is out...!!!

[Q] im in need of Rooting help

im new to this and im very very confused, i bought a galaxy note and i was able to flash the latest firmware ICS 4.0.3 (Open German), but what i cant do is rooting the phone, and what is the exact point im failing at is creating an SDcard folder on the internal memory, i dont have an external SDcard, and as i have read on other threads :
Step 1: Download the following files from the official thread [XDA-Developers]:
CWM.zip
SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Place all these files directly under /sdcard on your device’s internal memory.
Step 2: Shutdown your device. Once it is completely shut down, press and hold Volume Down + Power + Home buttons until you see a screen asking you to press to press Volume Up. Press said button to complete booting into Recovery Mode.
Step 3: Select apply update from external storage and then navigate to where you placed CWM.zip. Select it.
Step 4: Your device should now boot into ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery.
Step 5: From CWM, choose install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Step 6: From main menu of CWM, choose reboot system now.
If you followed the steps correctly, your Samsung Galaxy Note International GT-N7000 will now be rooted on Android 4.0.3 ICS.
all the steps seems to be easy, and i failed on creating sdcard folder on internal memory, i would appreciate your help.

Just place the file of busybox etc in ur phones default 16gb memory... that is the internal sd card...
No need of creating anything...

i did that, and when i tried to install, still tells me E:failed to load directories or file sdcard..
it's not working, and the guy says i should create a file in the internal memory which i dont think i can access, still need help, please someone help me out

You need to put the zip file in the root directory of the internal memory (internal SD card). Then in CWM you need to choose install zip from internal SD card not from SD card.

sorry for asking alot, but actually i dont know that much about androids, what i did step by step is,
1- downloading the files
2- open phone storage via my computer
3- pasted the files once the screen opened and created a file named sdcard and pasted the files there too just in case.
4- turned off the phone, pressed vol up+homescreen+power
5- apply updates from sdcard
and after that i wait a couple of seconds and a message pops in red says
E:/failed to mount /sdcard(no such file or directory)
i was never able to reach CWM.
if you could patiently and gladly post me a step by step what should i do, i will be very appreciated and thanks in advance.

I guess you are choosing the wrong option from the CWM
On the first screen of CWM recovery
1. choose "install zip from sd card"
2. On the next screen click "install zip from internal sdcard"
3. then goto the folder you created and then choose the SU zip file

my friend, im not even able to reach CWM, my phone is not rooted, im trying to root my phone, i cant reach CWM. i just need a way to Root my galaxy note ice 4.0.3

Ok try this turn phone off, turn on and quickly
press volume up, home and power at same time untill phone boots again, this is tricky may need couple tries. This will launch recovery. From there choose install update from... By navigating with volume buttons you can choose install from. This opens the sd card, choose the folder where you downloaded cwm.zip to, navigate with volume button to it. Click power button to select., navigate to yes and watch it install, after install you can use touch screen to options described in your first post. This will install superuser. After that is done reboot. In applications there is superuser. You are rooted now.

I did everything you said exactly but I got only super now but no CWM! And when I access root by some application it says you need root.
Here is what I did
1. Boot into recovery
2. Select install from sd
3. Selected external sd
4. Choose CWM.zip
5. Confirm install
6. Now recovery booted onto CWM
7. Select sd card (internal)
8. Choose su busy box from root folder
9. Confirm installation
10. Reboot device.
Now I can only see busybox not CWM!!!!!

Ok progress, but not full root. Download speedmod kernel on your phone, the cwm flashable zip from developer thread k3.
Speedmod is prerooted, and should together with already installed superuser provide full root. ICS one is k3 thread. The k3-3 one is stable and relatively safe. Best batterylife too.
Now restart procedure with cwm.zip instal. In cwm install the speedmod kernel zip and reboot. Now you should have full root. Test it by rebooting, opening superuser and in preferences select update binaries. Allow superuser acces for superuser. Select update. It should pass everything.
Cwm recovery is now also installed, but not as a link within applications. You can access it by rebooting and volume up, homekey and power combo. Speedmod has the wipe functionality that can break your phone disabled, same goes for factory reset. If you want that in future install throught pc odin, see stickies development thread drKetans thread, and do it safely from gb, and not ICS.

No, do the cwm.zip install, easiest. Odin is safest always, but because of triangle and binary counter I recommend cwm.
Just dont do factory reset/wipe from cwm. Thats what triggers the hardbrick in 99% of cases. Only small number of cases by installing through cwm.

OK now I got CWM and superSU and speedmod kernel. But still I don't have root access. M trying to remove Google ads thru lucky patcher but it gives error that I don't have root access .. Is there separate version for ICS? I got moved all the alps from gb thru TB.

Did you test by updating binaries throught superuser preferences?
Actually, if you followed procedure you should have superuser and not supersu .

Should you want to revert to stock, follow guide from genius dr Ketan in sticky thread of development. Best to do that before sending to service centre because they dont like or akways accept rooted devices for warranty

[TUTORIAL] Root access for ICS on I9100G

This is a compilation thread of the various root methods for the new ICS firmware on the I9100G. Special thanks to Codeworkx for his LP7 kernel, happysmith on the Chinese Gfan forum, and various other users in the Facebook I9100G group.
Method 1:
Advantages: Easy to do, permanent ClockworkMod recovery achieved.
Disadvantages: Increases flash counter. (No yellow triangle though.) Not 100% compatible with Stock 4.0.4 ROMs! You'll be able to root and use the system, but Bluetooth will stop functioning!
Prerequisites: Codeworkx's LP7 or ICS Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631934

Step 1: Download Codeworkx's LP7/ICS kernel and flash it using Odin.
Step 2: Put root.zip on either the internal or external SD card.

Step 4: Select install zip from sdcard.
Step 5: Select choose zip from sdcard/internal sdcard, depending on where you put root.zip.
Step 6: Flash root.zip and reboot.
Congratulations, you should now have root access.
Method 2:
Advantages: No flash counter increase or yellow triangle.

Step 1: Put the CWM.zip onto your EXTERNAL SD Card and root.zip on external OR internal SD.
Step 2: Get into the stock recovery mode by pressing Home Button + Volume Up key + Power key while your phone is turned off.
Step 3: From there, select apply update from external storage, and select the CWM.zip.
Step 4: You should now be taken to CWM Touch Recovery, where you should select install zip from sdcard.
Step 5: Select choose zip from sdcard/internal sdcard, depending on where you put root.zip. (Your internal and external sdcard might have their locations switched with the other, so double-check!)
Step 6: Flash root.zip and reboot.
Congratulations, you should now have root access without binary increase or a yellow triangle.
ADVANCED Method 2:
Advantages: No flash counter increase or yellow triangle. Permanent ClockworkMod Recovery.
Disadvantages: More difficult than the other methods, but this will give you the best result once achieved. Not 100% compatible with Stock 4.0.4 ROMs! You'll be able to root and use the system, but Bluetooth will stop Functioning!
Prerequisites: Properly executed all steps from Method 2 and obtained root.

Step 1: Download and install ktool from Google play.
Step 2: Extract the contents of Codeworkx's LP7 or ICS kernel.
Step 3: Find the file "zimage" and copy it onto your phone's storage.
Step 4: Use ktool to flash the "zimage" file. Reboot.
Congratulations, you now have achieved root with permanent ClockworkMod Recovery AND no flash counter increase.

Which part are you stuck at? The stock recovery or CWM? You MUST use an external SD card to use the Stock recovery.
Unsure about Triangle, but definitely flash counter I think.

The ICS Kernel is built from Galaxy Tab 2 sources, which is not fully compatible. Use the LP7 one.

No one knows if the USB Jig works with the new bootloader. Most likely not.

That's incredibly strange. Only thing I can suggest is try another SD Card, or format it in FAT32 and try again.

It means that you will be back to the stock recovery the next time you try to get in, and you'll have to flash CWM.zip everytime you need CWM. But you will have root.

I flashed LP7 - 5.5.0.4 I can access to clockworkmod but when I try to install zip file it said unable to mount /sdcard but strangely I didn't have the used yellow triangle.
EDIT : I am sorry I was stupid, I choose the wrong card, I had to choose external, but even after flashing LP7 I hadn't the yellow triangle, now I have root access, I can access to CMW 5.0.4 when rebooting my phone holding home+volume up+power. So I think that it worked

Hi everyone. As pretty much everyone of us who got suckered into buying this excellent (hardware) tab from Verizon knows, their update strategy has been very slow and on top of that, glitchy. Finally, 4 months after the other editions of this tab, we're getting ICS... BUT the update is an incremental OTA update that fails on 99% of the tabs, because it expects a version FD01b instead of the FD01 most of us have. The update seems to have gone through for only 2 or 3 lucky users who must somehow have had FD01b on their tab when they got it.
So after one of the best collaboration efforts on the "Tab 7.7 General" forums, I am happy to present to you
The CWM flashable "full stock" ROM for the SCH-i815 - ICS IMM76D.LP10
First up, let me stress again that this is a HACK and that this is RISKY and that if something goes wrong you MAY end up with a BRICK that will require complicated revival ceremonies! Unfortunately I *have* to say here, that whatever you do here, you do AT YOUR OWN risk, I can not be held liable for anything!
Prerequisites:
Verizon SCH-i815 LTE Tablet (ONLY this version!) with Honeycomb (everyone should have FD01 at this point)
Windows PC with Samsung USB drivers installed, meaning when you connect the tab, you should be able to copy files to it.
A micro-SD Card 2GB or bigger, preferable BLANK, FAT32 formatted.
Step 1: Prepare the SD card
Connect the SD card to your PC and copy the ROM files to it.
ROM Choices:
Original Cloned ROM (First version with direct partition image copy, requires >1GB space on SD card which has caused issues for some)

Update 10/12:
NEW ROM with full ext4 optimizations. System, Cache and Data (only in wipe version) will be cleared, formatted and "fsck -Dfy" checked!
DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING IN CWM!!! Just choose the ROM file appropriately.
Non-Wipe Version (This one leaves existing data partition alone, only checks it for errors)

Step 2: Download the Odin CWM Recovery pack and get ready to flash
Odin Pack: http://electron73.org/XDA/i815/electron_i815_odin_pack.zip
This ZIP contains everything you need now and later during this process. Extract it in any folder you like (Desktop/Odin or C:\Odin).
Run Odin3 v1.85.exe
Step 3: Bring the tab into Odin mode
Hold down the power and volume down buttons on your tab continuously until you see the big warning. Press volume UP to enter flash (odin) mode. Connect USB. In Odin the leftmost ID:COM field should now be yellow. Click the PDA button and select the cwm-6.0.1.1-i815.tar file. Leave everything else as-is. Click start to flash and when it says rebooting immediately grab the tab and hold down power and volume UP until you see the blue CWM screen! If you don't do this and let the tab boot, then it will automatically kill CWM (yes, bastards!), so don't let it boot the regular ROM!
Step 4: Flash the ICS ROM
Insert the card into the tablet, then in CWM go to install zip from sdcard, then choose zip from external sdcard. Select the electron_ICS-LP10_i815_v2.zip.
It will flash the kernel, the radio (LTE modem), the factory fs (/system) and preload partitions. The whole flash will take about 5 min. Especially on the last two steps be patient, it takes a while to extract 800mb and then flash the full filesystem image. Turning off power here (or running out of battery juice!) will make the rom unbootable and will require a full re-do. IMPORTANT: This requires the use of an external SD card! Using internal storage will not work!
WARNING: DO NOT wipe or factory reset in CWM! You can simply install ICS over an existing Honeycomb setup! Choose the correct ROM version: One erases everything and the other one preserves user data. Since this was originally an OTA, it knows how to convert your saved data. So all your emails, save games etc. will still be there! We had too many reports of problems when wiping/factory resetting with CWM. So for now the best advice for anyone looking into installing the ROM is DO NOT WIPE!
UPDATED PROCEDURE as of 10/16 - NO NEED to flash the old 3e recovery any more! Much easier and quicker baseband update below...
Step 5: Download and flash the baseband modem.bin with ODIN
Download the baseband update: http://electron73.org/XDA/i815/electron_ICS-LP10_i815_modem.zip
Bring the tab back into ODIN mode the same as before. Extract the modem.bin file from the modem.zip and drop it in the PHONE section (not PDA!) in ODIN this time. Click start and let it flash and reboot. Done. Under settings/about device you should now have Baseband Version i815.04 V.LP10 / I815LP10
B]Step 6: Optional: Keep CWM or go all stock[/B]
If you would rather like to be full stock than keeping CWM as the recovery program, then bring the tab back into ODIN mode one last time (pwr + vol down) and Connect USB, then flash LP10_recovery.
The ROM is pre-rooted. SuperSU is pre-installed as part of the ROM.
Trouble?
If the tab for some reason gets stuck in a boot loop with the Verizon animation playing over and over, don't fret! Give it AT LEAST 10 full minutes to start with and if it still doesn't show the home screen after that, hold down power and vol up until you're in CWM and wipe data/factory reset (yes, that will completely kill all user data and the tab will be "like new").
Trickier: If you see any warnings in CWM or 3e stock recovery, that there was an error mounting /data, then you lost the data partition and need to do extensive hacking before the tab will ever boot again. We fixed exactly this problem beginning on the very bottom of the page here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927392&page=16 so don't panic! This repair surgery thanks to the excellent guide by Androguide.fr here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1862294

What is this brick bug people speak of? Bricking during a flash or bricking when you're sleeping at night and doing nothing to the tab?

Yes the 6.0.1.1 (as far as I know!) is safe. No need to wipe anyway. The v2 included more files that turned out to be not necessary. The files posted here along with the updated, safer method of flashing, should be the best and quickest way to get to full stock ICS.
The v2 was mainly an attempt to bring user ice's tab back to life after his data partition got killed.

Newbie question of the day - where is the IMEI stored on the 7.7? If it's in /system, won't this result in *everyone* flashing this image ending up with the same IMEI (which causes a whole set of problems of its own)?

IMEI and such is stored in the mmcblk0p1 partition which (along with 2 and 3 which are the bootloader) we don't touch. So no, we only flash the factory fs, lte modem and kernel. CDMA modem.bin via the new method.

BTW there is NO NEED to wipe! You can simply install ICS over an existing Honeycomb setup! Since this was originally an OTA, it knows how to convert your saved data. So all your emails, save games etc. will still be there!
Step 5: Flash the old Honeycomb recovery in order to do the modem upgrade
Since CWM does not understand the proprietary command used to flash the "firmware" which is the base modem file, we need to use STOCK recovery for this. The downside is that, of course, the new recovery is now locked down and won't accept unsigned files. So we need to flash the OLD Honeycomb FD01 recovery and feed it the modem update!
When the CWM flash above is finished and tells you to reboot, simple press and hold power and vol down again to get back into ODIN mode. Connect the USB again and this time use Odin the same way as above, but to flash the FD10_recovery.tar. This time uncheck the "reboot" tick mark.
Step 6: Flash the modem upgrade with the old stock 3e recovery
When Odin is done above, hold down pwr and vol up until you see the old school recovery pop up saying *manual mode*. Select flash update zip from sdcard and select the electron_ICS-LP10_i815_modem.zip this time. It will go on for a while in total bling flight. No output apart from rotating gears! This one is tricky. Just wait until it either ends saying that it is done or a yellow exclamation point shows up in the middle of the screen. The flash is done.
Step 7: Choose between Stock and CWM
Now bring the tab back into ODIN mode one last time (pwr + vol down) and Connect USB, then flash either CWM or LP10_recovery if you rather like to be full stock. If you chose CWM then be aware that the ROM will try to overwrite that immediately on first boot!! In order to avoid that, flash it with "reboot" box unticked and manually reset into CWM mode (pwr + vol up) and inside CWM select reboot system. It will then give you a big warning that the ROM has a CWM killer and offers you to disable that, so CWM will stay in place (good for Nandroids etd).
Step 8: Boot the ICS ROM and enjoy!
Once you see ICS, go to the play store and install SuperSU. The rom is pre-rooted and just needs the SuperSU app for full root access control.
Trouble?

from step 5 on forward. no need to reflash the whole rom if you already have ICS running.
Just odin the old recovery on, flash the modem update zip, then odin the new recovery or CWM back.

boot loop
Not sure whats up. Ive had your rom on all day. No problems. When i went to install the modem update, i entered odin and installed stock recovery, and boom, went into a verizon logo boot loop. i continued any way with the modem install, then put cwm back on, then wiped and data factory reset. waited 10 minutes during bootloop. Gave up, totally reflashed entire V2 Rom, again, stuck on a bootloop...so nwiped and data factory reset again,,,,still a bootloop....
bummer...does it just run until battery dies?

Weird. OK did the v2 flash go all the way through? Did it finish at some point and say "please reboot" ? Or did it get stuck half way though?
Can you in CWM mount your internal storage? Did you get any errors when you did the full wipe/factory reset? anything saying "error mounting /data" maybe ?

I noticed the latest stock rom is like 550mb opposed to the one you uploaded this morning which was 990mb.. Is there a difference?

No I didn't create it but it is guaranteed the right one for i815. I know because I messed up my partition table last night and had to use that pit to repartition Lucky I found that. What you would do in order to re-do your pit is open odin, put the CWM in the PDA section as usual and then click PIT and select that pit. That should activate a checkbox "repartition device". Leave that on for this one run and click start.
As a result it should partition, then flash the CWM and you should immediately be able to enter CWM. With CWM running connect USB
and use adb shell to get onto your tab.
IN the root prompt enter parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
and in the parted prompt enter print. If you see the result as in the attached pic (note: no file system in the DATAFS line) then you need to fix that the same way ice got it fixed last night. I think the link to the thread is in the OP

Yes the difference is that the preload partition (550mb decompressed) is not included any longer. Not needed. It was never altered in the first place. It only contains a game and useless verizon demonstration videos. I found out later that it had been untouched since Honeycomb FA02c

Yes. V2 went through with no problems.in CWM I can mount efs,cache,system but not data. Then in cwm... OK..wiping data then I get a error mounting data. Skipping format

I ran into the splash screen just hanging and followed the data retore steps. I keep getting this error when trying to print the print command from the parted prompt.
