Dude.. the Ace can be overclocked, it just needs a modded Kernel. If you're so eager why don't you make that yourself..
i think sir nprussell will make an OC kernel for us

You mean Galaxy 3 aka i5800 aka "Apollo", don't you?
guyz dont hope from 1 developer so much..!!
is there any phone which has same configuration as ace..???
SAD
Its really sad that there is less support for Ace.. No Cyanogen Mod... No overclocking... where others are getting better support..

The good guys left because of idiots in this forum , they only know how to ask when and don't know when to be patient .
If I'm an Ace developer I would've done the modules .

Testing OC Speed
Using galaxy ace and my current stable OC is 921 MHz (quite hot when charging and using wi-fi at the same time) using paranoid android ROM galaxyics kernel ver 2.6.35.7
I'll keep it updated... (no tweaks YET)
*update* After reboot it is no longger becoming hot so it's safe
*update 2* 940 Mhz is safe (so far)

Back from the dead..
Ok..So that this dead thread is resurrected, why don't we ask the mod to lock it?
Woah.....The OP expects the Ace to be overclocked to 1.2 Ghz. We would be having a burning plastic brick in our hands...lol...!

940MHz is safe?
How about stable?
Sometimes by just running a benchmark i will reboot or FC

What do you really want to do with overclocking. and risking your phone. 800 mhz is slow, I agree, but its not bad enough for daily use.
The highest stable you should risk up to is 883 mhz.
Even 921 mhz is stable.
But higher than that is just overworking the processor.
If you really want your phone to be fast. Its not only done by overclocking. You should look over to scripts like Adrenaline Engine and stuff. Maybe even setting up zram, to up to 18%.
But risking your processor. Nope. Don't do it.

940 MHz is safe, but when my ace lags, it reboots (i was playing fruit ninja in multi-tasking with browser)... So i'm trying to find out why... I've set the min and max at 940 MHz, so the CPU is stable at 940 MHz...I'm trying to test 960 MHz, but it shutdown eventually and didn't gives me a bootloop when i set to 960, please be aware that i'm using maclaw's kernel and his ROM... I'm not responsible for any damage if you did what I did, but if you want to try do a NAND Backup then try it... if it goes with a bootloop simply wait, a few boots and the CPU will be back to 800 MHz, if it didn't simply reset it...
*update* gives me bootloop after a few minutes

Too bad...OC at 821mhz....not what I thought at all.Not to be rude or to flame but you said about 883 mhz in the forum thread.Maybe you should just change and say that it's just another OC kernel just like ketut's.Don't lie about the frequencies they are not yet too good controlled.
If you put in a under/overvolt it may just do the good to make our Ace reach 1ghz.

Good choice not implement this, for all that use oc kernel.
In this way to boot phone should use always basic default frequencies, so avoiding fake boot ;-)

Can you build the kernel??
i read many reference what the best max freq for kernel, and the 883Mhz, is enough for hardware,
so this kernel not just compile, but i read every log when build this kernel and try to fix, to minimize error mod post
if you dont like, dont use it, i just want to share, what i'm doing, and if you like, just give a thanks
maybe i can give a clue, just read below
see this code
Code:
/* MSM7201A Levels 3-6 all correspond to 1.2V, level 7 corresponds to 1.325V. */
enum {
VDD_0 = 0,
VDD_1 = 1,
VDD_2 = 2,
VDD_3 = 3,
VDD_4 = 3,
VDD_5 = 3,
VDD_6 = 3,
VDD_7 = 7,
VDD_END
};
max freq use code 7, its mean corresponds to 1.325V ( max volt )
go, and build your self,
if you know the bug,
please report, not complain
every device with same type is not same on hardware, some people can boot at 883Mhz, but some people cant, and my kernel freq 883Mhz, but not default, all people will know, if freq is bigger than default its mean OC kernel
all feature is not just add but with some modification that need by device for get best result
sorry for my english
Hi,
Here is the first release of a PimpMyCpu compatible kernel. I wanted a kernel as stock as possible with only OC/UV added trought my application PimpMyCpu.
I will not go trought the PimpMyCpu possibility as it's described in the previous links, but essentially it allow you to use OC/UV profiles and rules and even assign an OC/UV profile to every application on your device !
- Based on XXLA* kernel sources
- Only changes made are OC/UV capabilities trought PimpMyCpu
- Packaged like CF-Root: contain latest su and busybox binary, Superuser.apk, CWMManager.apk and of course CWM recovery (same as CF-Root XXLA*)
! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK !
Attached is a CWM flashable .zip and a (probably) Odin compatible .tar
Nice to have more kernels to try
Iam trying right now, report later. Looks all ready good.

Hello mate and welcome...
From description in your OP, if someone don't want to overclock or undervolting then your kernel will react same as CF-root kernel right???
Cause you write that is as stock as the CF-root but with the ability to OC/UV...
Or your kernel contains more tweaks/tricks than CF-root even if we don't OC or UV???
Thanks...

Included Riyal's Recovery since I wasn't sure if Arc S recovery would work
OverClock up to 1.6GHZ.
Init.d Scripts Support.
Slightly Modified voltages Table (UV).
CMW Pre-installed
Tweaked Sio Scheduler.
Two Way Recording Call patch
Support for ext2,ext3,ext4 and NTFS FileSystems.
Latest Adreno Sources patched.
KGSL power Management Tweaks. - Super Smooth UI
Wifi Voltage Lowered
Charging power increased, now charging from USB ports should be a bit faster
LCD Panel voltage Lowered - It should use less battery when screen is on
PU Driver based on my own modified sources, it is the same as per the previous versions of ArcKnight Kernel
Tiny RCU instead of TREE RCU
SLQB Allocator instead of SLAB
CFQ, SIO and VR IO Schedulers modified and optimized fo Flahs Memory Devices
Memory Allocations tweaks like Kernel Granurality and Vm Dirtinesss
rcKnight CPU Governor modified to work with the NEW CPU Table, I know it was slow the first time but TRUST me it if smooth and fast and it will save your battery better than ondemand and intellidemand
ArcKngith_II CPU Governor
ArcKnight_II is my own CPU Governor based on the "Conservative" Governor but with some interesting addons specially when it comes to smoothness..
I've added static look up tables with arranged frequencies. So the CPU governor will look up on this table depending on the Average CPU load the phone is having to accomodate the best Frequency for the task running. For example when you're gamming or doing something heavy with the Phone the ArcKnight_II will push the CPU to the highest frequencies but when the CPU load gets reduced it will inmediately put the phone to lower freqs...
Users on the Arc and Arc S thread have reported great smoothness and good battery life when using the CPU Governor.
USB OTG Support
The Kernel should Provide full USB OTG Support for Mouse, Keyboard and Pendrive devices... However the .ko modules should be loaded separately since my aim was to keep the Kernel as slim and debugged as possible...
Instructions - How to Flash?
Flash as any other Kernel you have flashed before... - I strongly recommend a Clean install of both Kernel and ROM to avoid any leftovers or issues with any previous Kernel you might have...
DOWNLOADS:
Downloads will be placed in 2nd Post for Stable Releases and 3rd Post for Test Releases if any comes...
IMPORTANT:
Remember I don't own this device, I've ported the ArcKnight Kernel based on xperiaap request... So it will be really difficult for me to test and debug any possible error... You'll have to help me here

Are using tegrak or set cpu to set cpu speed?
I cannot access youtube link.
Use Notecore's overclocked kernel. And based on variation in speed change voltages using tegrak. it is because each and every individual hardware has different voltage requirements. My earnest advice for you is not to overclock. It may harm your phone in long run.

Btw which kernel version did you use ..standar or overclock one? maybe your phone chip cannot handle that freqency (1600 mhz) in constant time or maybe your cpu in high temp and adjust to the safe speed (800 mhz) so won't harm the chip..just try the normal max speed if you use the standar version and see if make a diff result
and +1 with Akilesh said about hardware has different voltage requirements
try different scheduler/governator combo
